I saw a post by @icarusbetide saying that they love the idea of George Washington being a gossiper and I am behind this 100%, but I would like to add for consideration him constantly shipping the people around him. Someone on his staff courting someone? Heās silently praying it works because he thinks itās cute. If itās someone he disapproves of, heās all āoh honey no you can do so much betterā. Heās the one subtly trying to āencourageā along certain relationships. His aides are begging him to stop. He will not yield.
He accidentally witnesses James and Sarah kissing or being otherwise lovey and heās just
I did not know how much i needed this in my life until this moment š thanks ollke for blessing me
Storytime! There was once a creative genius named @firlachiel who theorized that George Washington totally toldĀ bad dad jokes. The TURN fandom agreed with her, and all prospered. One day, these jokes found their way into Ian Kahnās hands, and @ms1776Ā suggested that the General himself should read some of them. The result was every bit as magical as you might imagine.
So, interesting thing: I was looking at that queer history site, and it quoted a book written in 1959 which wrote about the expressiveness of Laurens and Hamiltonās language -
For example, John Laurens, one of Washingtonās aides, saw nothing strange in writing to his friend Richard Meade in this strain: āAdieu: I embrace you tenderlyā¦. My friendship for you will burn with that pure flame which has kindled you your virtues.ā
I was surprised by this because I hadnāt heard much about Laurens and Meade being friends? And this is pretty damn flowery for Laurens?
So I googled it again, but all that showed up was the google books version of that book, and one other page quoting just that line.
Andā¦ I donāt really know where to go from there;; I donāt know what to make of it, but itās a pretty lovely quote if itās real.
I like referring to people, at least in my head, as girl or dude so now I just thinking if I called anybody in the Amrev as girl and it just making me laugh like their reaction is what I want to see
