Why do you stutter? Is it just a nervous thing or something else?

It may have had to do with a r-really harsh teacher that I had at one point, but I don’t really remember too well. He was only a, uh, teacher for about half a year, but I guess when cases s-st-started popping up where kids started stuttering and b-becoming super anxious, he was blamed and got kicked out of the school. The stutter never went away.

Update

Just a heads-up post. I, as well as the rest of the artists working on this AU (@ask-polluted-planet-gilbert, @ask-polluted-planet-francis, @ask-polluted-planet-soojin, @ask-polluted-planet-lukas, @ask-polluted-planet-ince, and @ask-polluted-planet-alfred) are moving all of our blogs into a single blog, AKA the original @polluted-planet-au. This will make it easier for us to collaborate on art and more importantly will make sure that we don’t have to worry about running a blog all by ourselves. Once we set this into motion, any asks you have for us will be sent through there, though you must specify who you’re talking to at that point. This probably won’t actually happen for a couple more weeks, so this is just a heads up.

Hiatus

Anyone who may or may not have been keeping an eye on this tiny ask blog might know that I haven't been uploading anything recently. I'm sorry, school is just way too much for me right now and I've been having a lot of self-confidence issues. I haven't been drawing at all recently anyway, and digital art especially takes me a lot of time. I'll come back to it eventually but right now I have just a little too much on my plate. Sorry.

Do you have friends or family?

I mean, it’s been a while since I’ve seen my family, due to the extensive work hours I mentioned previously. There’s also the fact that I’m either living inside the lab or out somewhere on Earth for moths at a time. It’s difficult to have a social life outside of work.

Even so…

This is what I remember of my parents. My father is a governor, which means I wouldn’t be able to see him often even if I was still living at home. And my mother is a secretary for a different governor who I never bothered to learn about. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen either of them.

This is Alfred, my step-brother. I’m not sure what happened to his mother before my mother stepped into the picture of his family and had me, but he’s never mentioned her, so I don’t ask. I haven’t seen him in a while either. He’s a soldier, a guard for the government. But I remember that he was always happy and ready to be the older brother.

This is Francis, one of my close friends. He’s several years older then me, so he’s more like a older brother, but he’s way too mischievous. He teaches about religion, but when he’s not on the job he’s not exactly professional. But he’s a great friend, and I miss being able to see him more often.

And this is Gilbert, my other best friend. He’s a soldier on the space station, though he often accompanies me on my trips to Earth to make sure I don’t accidentally get myself killed. He’s kind of like how I remember Alfred, always happy and kind of mischievous. He’ definitely the closest friend I have.

This is Lukas. I wouldn’t call him… a friend since he’s more of an acquaintance, but he’s still fun to talk to sometimes. He’s a Psychiatrist, so we don’t regularly interact unless we try to. It’s not often.

And this is Kiku, another one of my acquaintances. We went to a scientific institution together, and he was one of the only people who talked to me there up until we went on our separate paths to get our degrees. He became a nurse and I became a scientist. Nowadays we rarely talk due to him being so concentrated on his job.

This is Soo Jin. She lives on Earth, so I’ve only seen her face a few times and even then I don’t remember her super well. She’s an archeologist who regularly works with Francis to collect artifacts and inform the space station of Earth.

And finally… there’s Allen. I’ve never seen his face before, but he’s a person who lives on Earth near Soo Jin. She hooked me up in communication with him, explaining that she thinks I may be able to shut him up. The guy is absolutely obsessed with plants, so during some of my free time I tell him all that I know. To be fair to Soo Jin… he never really shuts up. He hates the space station, but he loves plants so much that he’s willing to talk to me. Though... I haven’t heard from him in quite a while.

So there’s everyone I know.

How many hours do you work in a day? What do you do with your free time?

That may seem like a lot, but to be honest I definitely have it better than some people. Thanks to our access to advanced technology, I don’t even feel tired!

So even though I get literally zero sleep everyday, i feel like I’m sleeping a lot more. As far as we know, even your body reacts as if you’ve gotten enough sleep, so I use it to my advantage. Though on Earth I generally have a harder time seeing and end up dozing off a lot…. That’s really dangerous to do on Earth.

Anyway, there are several things I enjoy doing around the station.

The tree in hear is the first one ever grown in the station, so by now it nearly brushes up against the ceiling of the room. Whenever I’m stressed out and/or have a lot of free time at my disposal, I like to come in here and lay down. it helps me remember about the time when I still lived on Earth.

Of course we’ve never bothered to try and mimic the heat of the sun or the cold rush that you feel when a wind blows by, but I still manage to daydream about my past.

Of course, I can only remember so much before I start crying.

It’s very disorienting, but I’ve found myself coming back to this spot more often. It’s the only place that still really looks like Earth, and I’m hoping to get even more decorative plants in here one day.

Do you have a pet?

I mean, to be fair I have extensive work days and though I would love to have a pet I’m quite sure I’d accidentally forget about them. T-that would be… uh, unfortunate if anything.

He was this really lazy husky with white fur, and I really loved him. but he died from all the solution in the air soon after we moved to the station, and since it’s been quite a few years I don’t really remember very much about him. it’s almost funny, though, because he always seemed to think I was a new person whenever I came inside. My mother suggested that he had amnesia, but he seemed to easily recognize everyone else, so I’m not sure what it was.

I may never know, but I really loved that dog.

See, that green stuff was genetically modified plant material that I’ve been working on. The only problem is that on contact with oxygen, it grows rapidly and does’t stop, so I had a layer of nitrogen weighing it down. When I spilled it, it started growing rapidly, and the only way to stop is to…

Uh…

W-well, to piss on it, I guess. But, uh, instead of going and asking for jars of piss from storage like I’ve had to do before (which is humiliating), I just went to the long line of engineers waiting to go to the bathroom.

It smelled gross, but it’s much easier to clean up piss than to manually clean up the plant material.

I’ll try to be careful though, because you’re right that I should watch out. I am a scientist after all!

That’s my job title on the station!

T-there’s not really any specific titles like that or anything, so they just call all of us scientists. They call my coworkers and I ‘scientists’. They call the people working on bettering the ship ‘scientists’. Even the astronomers are ‘scientists’! But anyway, I’m a biologist because-…

There’s soooooo many super cool plants. A-a-at least there used to be, a-and I’m working to, uh, get them back! Especially the plants that produce food! I heard there used to be a lot of those around on Earth, but now all we have here is wheat, rice, a bunch of other grains, corn, and this leafy stuff that kind of looks like lettuce but I’m pretty sure it’s genetically modified.

I travel to Earth a lot just to look for plant seeds, matter, and even living plants. There aren’t very many of that last one. There’s almost zero living plants on Earth anymore….

Uh, anyways, I should g-get back to work. Bye!

Polluted Planet Hetalia AU
