I just noticed this and I thought it was cute (NOT A SHIPPING POST!!!) I think Gareth and Eddie have matching rings? Maybe it’s a band ring or something like that? Or best friend jewelry , but it looks like Gareth and Eddie have the same ring on their pointer finger (Skulls with a cross) any pictures I’ve seen of gareths actor with the rings are a bit too blurry to tell? But they seem like the same shape and same finger placement ?

I have this hc where Steve gets a rip/tear in an item of clothing he likes a lot & he’s lamenting to Eddie because it’s his favourite sweater and he was going to wear it to a party on Saturday and he really doesn’t want to go shopping after work to get a new one and Eddie, because he grew up poor, and punk, and resourceful is just like “Why don’t you mend it?”

“Mend it?”

“Yeah, Harrington. Mend it. Sew the tear back up, make it good as new.”

And Steve is so amazed cause the thought never even occurred to his silly little rich boy brain not that his parents would even approve of wearing visibly mended clothes because appearances and what would people say?

And so Eddie invites Steve over and they sit out on the sofa in front of his trailer and Eddie pulls out his sewing kit (it’s an old wooden cigar box that belonged to Wayne, & it’s full of safety pins, needles, stray buttons, and a few spools of thread) and he talks Steve through every step, showing him how to do it, so he’ll be able to do it himself if it happens again

Cutting the thread to the right length so you have enough (but not too much that it tangles), threading the needle, pinning the tear shut, and then making careful, neat stitches on the inside of the sweater that Steve is amazed to find are practically invisible once it’s turned right side round again

“See,” Eddie says when he’s tied off and woven in the threads “Good as new,” and, yeah, it almost is but Steve can just make out the mend where the tear used to be, and that’s mostly by feel because the dark navy fabric hides it well in the dusky evening light

It’s like a scar on the fabric and Steve has grown to love his scars, because he loves Eddie’s scars and how they represent recovery and survival and isn’t it nice that his favourite sweater now has a battle scar to match his own?

Like its significant that steve first approaches eddie within that interaction in the upside down to thank him for saving his life (aka jumping in after him)-- he doesnt thank robin or nancy (at least that the audience sees) bc it's just assumed any of them would do exactly the same for one another. And that's why I think it's so weird when eddie is like "yeah nancy jumping in after u was a sign of true love"

The only person that jumping in after steve wouldve been signficant for was eddie, It was really only different with eddie bc steve was like "dude u dont even know me (and what u do know of me is that I'm an asshole) yet u still decided to jump down, even if that was just a result of u not wanting to be the one left behind" like the dudes a self proclaimed coward, yet he still jumped in after a guy he hadn't even decided he liked yet, that he was JEALOUS of even
