Sorting ceremony 2015 Hogwarts. 

The first years are brought into the Great Hall by Professor Longbottom. With a comforting smile towards the group of first years, nervous and excited, he calls them forth one by one. Somewhere towards the end a familiar name is called.

Neville: Potter-

Headmistress McGonagall: Oh, here we go again *under her breath* 

Neville: -James-

McGonagall: Good Godric, give me strengt *downs her goblet of wine in one draft*

Neville: -Sirius.

McGonagall: No. Nope. I am not doing this. Not again. I’m out- save yourselves while you still can. This castle will not stand by the time that boy graduates, mark my words. *rises abruptly and leaves the hall* 

James Sirius: Wicked! I’m infamous already *grins triumphantly* So- am I being sorted or what?

Birth of Ginny/Harry’s first child:

James: A boy! 

Sirius: 10 galleons he’s going to name it Sirius-

James: What?! He’s my son- he’s going to name it James-

Sirius: Considering he never actually even met you after the age of one-

Remus: Low blow mate,

Lily: Boys, please- What about Ginny? You don’t think she’s got some influence on what to name her own kid? 

James: Shhhhh- 

Sirius: Wait for it-

Harry: Let’s name him James-

James: Bloody right!

Harry: -Sirius

Sirius: Ha! That’s my boy! thought you won that one did you Prongs? 

Harry: James Sirius.

James & Sirius: *high fives*

Lily: James Sirius? Really? Isn’t that a bit much? 

Remus: It doesn’t have the nicest ring to, does it? 

James: What was that? 

Sirius: I think it’s brilliant.

James: You’re just jealous Moony,

Lily: *rolls her eyes*

Remus: Well, he’s destined for trouble that one, named after the two biggest idiots I ever met,

Lily: Let’s pray Ginny gets a word in when the next one comes around...

Birth of Ginny/Harry’s second child:

Lily: maybe it’ll be a girl this-

James: It’s a boy! Again! 

Lily: Right.

Sirius: Oooh- it’s your turn now Remus- I can feel it! 

Remus: I don’t want to presume anything... 

James: Oh, come on- you took care of him when none of us could- it’s you or Hagrid, it must be, although Remus Rubeus would be a bit of a laugh,

Lily: Oh hush, I’m sure it’s going to be Remus- or maybe, just maybe, Ginny got to choose this time-

Harry: Let’s name him Albus-

Lily: WhAt?! I’m sorry- but Dumbledore practically threw that poor boy to the wolfs every bloody fucking year- no offence Remus-

Remus: None taken- 

Harry: -Severus.

James: ...

Sirius: ...

Remus: ...

Lily: ...

Harry: Albus Severus 

Sirius: What.

James: The actual.

Sirius: Bloody.

James: Fuck.

Lily: *cringing* Harry- 

Remus: Well that- that is just insulting. 

Sirius: I’m going to kill him.

James: Not my bloody son, your not! 

Sirius: He named his son after Snivellus-

Lily: Don’t call him that,

James: ... 

Sirius: Snivellus Prongs, I don’t give a flying fuck if he sacrificed his sorry little life in the end- he was a prat all the same! 

James: Right- you’re absolutely right- I’m going to kill that little prick. 

Lily: *drily* how do you suppose you’ll manage that you dimwit? You’re dead. 

James: Bollocks. 

Remus: And to think I named him the godfather to my own child. 

Lily: Poor Gin.

I’ve been reading @thequibblah‘s absolutely fantastic jily fanfic Come Together the last couple of weeks, and I had to draw her four Gryffindor girls, Dorcas Walker (who will become Meadows I’m pretty sure), Lily Evans, Germaine King and Mary MacDonald - I’m in love with her story and her varied characters!

Did Remus just ask her what she’s getting James? Is she ignoring the question even though he definitely is on her list? we don’t know.

(and I know this set will probably be confusing to some people since a lot of people like Kristin Scott Thomas as Walburga but she’s always been Mrs. Potter to me)

“Come Together”, written by thequibblah

It’s in the works, started early 2020, the entire story is outlined and there are 19 (long!) chapters so far. 

I’ve only read 4 chapters, but so far I’m hooked- best written jily fic I’ve come across in years, canon compliant and great characterizations!
