hello everybody I would like to talk about my Psychonauts OC because everybody has one so i’m like the cool kids now i guess ok here we go
also I can’t draw so here are picrews
Introducing Anna Tomey, Director of the Organization for Psycho-Biological Studies, former Psychonaut, mother to Lili Zanotto, and Truman’s ex-wife.
(work mode)
(Mom mode)
She is not the leader of the Gastronauts. The Gastronauts do not exist. They are the OPS. They are not the Psychonauts’ rivals; they are a non-profit research-focused scientific organization, so if her employees could please stop leaving listening devices in the Motherlobe and getting into slapfights with the Psychonaut field agents she would really appreciate it.
Gastronauts is the fairly derisive nickname the Psychonauts gave the OPS, and Anna seems to be the only one who didn’t embrace it. She insists with her last breath that just because they study similar things and are vying for the same government grants and funding, the two organizations aren’t rivals. How much of that is denial is up to interpretation.
Anna and Truman met as fellow junior agents in the early days of the Psychonauts. It didn’t take them long to fall for each other, although they had very different ways of expressing their feelings. Anna liked to singe Truman’s reports when she walked past his desk.
(Lili has inherited both her mother’s pyrokinesis and her flirting techniques.)
As their careers advanced, Truman began to climb the ladder and Anna became more focused on research. Her interests began to veer towards what is basically psychic neuroscience--the actual chemical and physical cause and effect of psychic abilities. This wasn’t met with much enthusiasm--the Psychonauts are interested in the brain, but they’re psychic. Take up the biology with the regular scientists.
It became a source of friction when Truman became Grand Head and kept rejecting her research proposals. He insisted it was because they weren’t in line with the Psychonauts focus and he didn’t want accusations of favoritism. Anna tried not to take it personally but eventually she decided that if she wasn’t going to get what she wanted as a Psychonaut, she’d go somewhere else.
About a year after Bob was fired, when Lili was three, Anna quit and started her own group, the Organization for Psycho-Biological Studies. Except she didn’t tell anyone that’s what she was doing. And the way everyone found out was when they didn’t get the government research grant they were supposed to get, because it had been awarded to some new upstarts no one had ever heard of and hey, isn’t that Anna giving the acceptance speech on TV?
Anna and Truman had a massive fight over it that ended in their separation and eventual divorce. It was tense for a while, but today their relationship is amicable. It’s a little awkward because they both still care about each other very much, but can’t see a way around the major issue of being heads of organizations that are often at odds.
[This is exacerbated by the fact that they do, occasionally, accidentally, sleep together.]
[It’s very embarrassing.]
They share custody of Lili, and both make a big effort (especially in the early days, when everything was raw and hurting) to make sure that their divorce doesn’t have any negative impact on her. For Lili’s part, it’s been this way about as long as she can remember, and it’s just part of her normal life.
While Lili loves both her parents, Anna is very much the Cool Mom with the Cool Car and the Cool Outfits who takes Lili shopping and teaches her how eyeliner works.
[You think Truman ‘hawaiian shirt and cargo pants’ Zanotto taught Lili how to layer a dress with leggings?]
Lili finds the Psychonauts headquarters more fun though. Cooler gadgets, more secret passages.
I have...a bunch of stuff written for her that I may or may not post depending on how nervous I am lmao.

I think that was either referring to transferring Gristol/Truman to the underwater Charlie Psycho Delta base.
or.
Gristol wanted to literally drop Truman’s brain into the ocean.
“You put the egg in the basket, and the old egg in the box, and the box into the ocean.”
What was the ocean?

Presenting, the amazing, now non-ironically named, Aquatos!
So this all spiralled from the whole “That little army fellow said he’d give us all swimming lessons!” line Augustus says at the end of the game…Gus, darling, love of Donatella’s life…Oleander can’t swim unless there are mermaid tails involved.
Hence. Mermaid!Aquatos.
Well. That’s that done. Until I draw a thotty version of Augustus and Donatella of course, but that’ll wait til tomorrow.

I decided to give Raz a new baby sister, his parents name her Marona Lucrecia Aquato (after both her nona’s obviously) leaning towards making her psychic so our boy can get adequate payback on the interns by making them babysit a baby with psy powers. What do you think?
Well. I approve. XD
Because I have /also/ had this thought.
...Yeah I absolutely already have thought this through. The fact they name this baby after Marona and Lucrecia is adorable.
But man, making the interns take care of the baby? There's a lot of childcare options I'd consider before letting them near little 'Rona. XD

“They had married a week earlier. Augustus wore a teal ringmaster’s coat, close to what he thought his father would have worn (he was frustrated that no matter how he grasped at the memory the details were always in a haze). Dontatella wore a teal cape Marona had made for their act, over her simple white dress. And, as soon she signed the papers, she was an Aquato.”
When I posted chapter 5 of “Aquato Family Drama” last night I remembered I had this on my desk.
I think that the cape and coat got patched and reused to make the kiddos costumes as their family expanded, and the wedding dress gets passed to Frazie who redyes it and changes the cut. Bits and pieces of their special day gets repurposed and spread out through out the family. :) They have one photo of this day, and the kids always point at the tiny bump that Dona has and ask Dion how he liked the ceremony.
