Prince Qi Xiaotian's first portrait
@soniclozdplove
Awwwwwww!!!!
I adore his little confused expressed, the tiny leaf crown like the one Wukong wore as a young monkey, his chest fluff, and him placing his little paws on his feet!! X3
Little MK getting his first ever royal portrait done (you know Wukong insisted on painting it) once he's old enough to sit still for more than a minute. It takes many attempts.
There's atleast one painting of MK in more traditional royal baby clothing - Macaque wanted it preserved for memory sake. Apparently he was dressed up for a royal summit and immediately ripped all his clothes off. Baby monkeys no like restrictive clothing.

I'd like to think MK and Mei still become best friends, to the point he actually told her about being the Monkey Prince and his real reason for being in the mortal city before New Years. For one, as dragon royalty, she'd definitely understand where he's coming from about not wanting to be treated differently, and for another, he needed help, and nobody knows the streets better than Mei.
Oh def
MK sort of knows who Mei is from the start, but understands that she wants to be seen as *just* Mei, not the child of a royal dragon family. Like how he *just* wants to be MK, and not Sun Qi Xiaotian Prince of Flower Fruit Mountain and Aolai.
When Mei begrudgingly brings MK and Sandy over to her family's home and inherits her family's ancestral sword, MK decides since she's so comfortable to reveal her origins to him, he'd do the same for her.
Mei makes a horse-like "BWWHAAAT?!" and splutters;
Mei: "You! Xiaotian!" MK, confused: "Yeah?" Mei, pointing excitedly at herself: "Me! Xiaojiao!" MK, realising Mei is his cubhood bestie: "YOOOOO!!" Mei: "YOOOOO!!!"
It quickly comes about that after DBK's imprisonment, the royal dragon families (whos' opinion of SWK had been bad already with Ao Lie's injury/passing) forced their extended family to retract their loyalty from him less they be exiled. Mei's Parents included.
Needless to say MK and Mei are tighter than ever, and trying to get Red Son in a good place to reveal who they exactly are to him so that their old trio can be whole once more.

Imagine if, in post jttw egg au, they'd already gone through the whole "Guanyin is the reincarnation of my mom" bit back when MK was still a cub himself. Like, Guanyin has Wukong and newborn Xiaotian checked out, and Lao Tzu realizes something is weirdly familiar about the newborn cub and Wukong's dao. A few checks later and a trip to Diyu, and suddenly, it's an open secret that Wukong is, somehow, a long, lost imperial prince. Wukong proceeds to give his newly discovered maternal grandfather and grandmother the most hateful and burning glare he can muster when still fresh from the delivery room and makes it clear he and his family want NOTHING to do with the Jade Court or it's crown after all the shit they put him through. And, all things considered, they respect that... mostly. They still send him invites to almost every event (most of whichhe burns), and his newly discovered cousins/already kind of sort of sibling figures the Peach Maidens, Erlang, and Nez Ha take every opportunity to visit
Link to the main Stone Matriarch post.
ohohoho, I love the idea of just post-Jttw (perhaps even immediately after the Samadhi Fire ritual) Wukong ends up in 24-hour care up in Heaven almost like the Century Stone Egg au. Dangerously zapped of his life energy/dao with his mate and friends at his side, the major difference being the timeframe/fallout.
Wukong and Macaque, and the Pilgrims learn of Wukong's connection to Guanyin, and the Celestial royal family as a whole, and they immediately laugh out loud before going back to the mortal world. They have zero interest in involving themselves nor their little hatched Egg in that nonsense. The wounds (physical and emotional) of Wukong's burning, and of the Mountain, are far too fresh for Wukong to stand the celestials right now. He'll make sure to keep his cub far away from them.
And the slap to the face it is to the Emperor and Queen Mother is Immense.
They just discovered that one of their greatest annoyances is their legal/celestial grandson, a piece of their first lost daughter, and he's just graced them with a great-grandchild - only to look at these facts and decide "Nah" and leave for the world of the mortals.
The Entire Jade Court keeps quiet about this open secret out of fear of the royals anger.
Erlang, Nezha, and the Orchard Maidens visit FFM frequently. Little Xiaotian and his siblings grow up with many family members from "the other side" that they see at almost every birthday or holiday, but wonders why they can never visit them directly in the Celestial Realm. The cubs, Mei, and Red Son grow up assuming its the celestials prejudice against demonkind and bad history between their families.
Unfortunately the bad blood that boils leads to DBK's imprisonment about 500 years before the main story. The exact details of his rampage left unclear.
Xiaotian and the cubs grow up with the truth of The Stone Matriarch Shíhuā being their maternal grandmother, and her Consort their maternal grandfather. Guanyin had long since gifted Wukong with visits from his mother's spirit, and the cubs see the goddess as a bonus grandparent-figure. The Eclipse twins found Yē Lín's cavern on complete accident when messing with their newly discovered shadow powers, subsequently leading to the discovery of Wukong's unhatched little brother Luzhen. Honestly Xiaotian doesn't think his family history could get any weirder.
At least until the events of S3/4 leads Xiaotian to the Emperor's throne room where he meets a his spirtual great-grandparents for the first time...

TMKATI au assorted ask:
I apologise for the lack of updates on "The Monkey King and the Infant" as I've been in college/getting my first real job. So I decided to compile some related asks together to answer some questions. I hope to throw together a true timeline soon when I have the time.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Short questions that I can answer quickly:
LBD ultimately wants the Harbringer (aka MK) to act as her weapon to create a new world. The Bone Mech is merely a suit of armor for her champion. She specifically allows Macaque to be revived/surface in order to catch the Comet and bring the Harbringer's Egg to her. This plan ofc doesn't go as planned due to the Egg cracking upon hitting the ground + Wukong being there. But LBD can plan around unexpected deviations.
The Scroll of Memory *does* occur in the TMKATI au, though the events surrounding it are much different. Namely the inclusion of Chenxiang - grand nephew of the Jade Emperor and Wukong's first ever student. I've altered the timeline a bit so Chenxiang (perma-stuck as a damaged teenager) only shows up post-S3 for Reasons. Namely that involving Erlang Shen...
MK will be in danger during the events of the fic, and will need his friends and family to step in to save their boy. Namely during S3. Thats all I willl say.
Tumblr media
Haha! Basically the shadowpeach monkeys are the Incredibles of demonic demogods. Just wanting to stay out of trouble and raise their kids. Pretty much imagine if their S4 finale outfits were their defaults.
Due to the population of Monkey demons mostly fleeing FFM in the aftermath of the Burning + incorporating into existing villages, the island is pretty much a deserted kingdom with only Wukong there to mind it outside of yearly pilgrimages or festivals. Wukong prefers it this way since in his mind it keeps everyone safe from the eyes of Heaven. By the later parts of TMKATI him and Macaque begin to step up as rulers once more with the threat of LBD, the Brotherhood, and others on the horizon.
MK and the kiddos are a little flumoxed ofc, since they go from being the kids of a noodle shop worker and a threatre actor to literal demon royalty over the course of the series.
Tumblr media
I hope these answer some major questions yall have. Don't be afraid to send asks in about my aus!

Wukong, getting tackled by his cubs: Oh thank goodness all of your are okay!
Tang: M-m-monkey King!? MK, you're mom is-
Wukong: Ah, speaking... MK?
MK, suddenly nervous: Yes?
Wukong: You... are on so much trouble. It's totally grounded for like... 100 years type stuff there.
MK: Aw man!
Wukong does not actually ground MK for 100 years, but he is not allowed to go to the city for the next 2 weeks unless it's to work and back. Mei offers to take over "Monkey Kid Duty" for the duration, and Wukong never outright banned MK from having his friends over, quite the opposite, in fact! He's working with Pigsy to make sure it doesn't conflict with his schedule when setting up training sessions
Prev post.
+a similar short anon;
Tumblr media
Yeah MK is so grounded for lying to his mom about his true reason for going to the mainland + becoming a sueprhero in the process.
I love Wukong's gut reaction is "100 years grounded!" because its such a him thing to do.
Wukong: "I'm serious MK! I've been grounded for 500 years before! Don't think you can't be too!" MK: "Isn't that how you ended up with me??" Wukong: "Ugh true. Two weeks of no video games or arcade then." MK: "Aww man!"
I love the thought of Mei being on board to "chaperone" MK for the two weeks he's grounded so he doesn't wander off into an arcade or end up in a kaiju battle. Mei constantly updates Wukong via their phones about what MK is doing/when he signs off work. She acts like it's a super-secret spy mission.
Pigsy is little shaken by the news that his fave employee is a monkey demigod, but then again he was quick to encourage/guide MK when he became a hero so this is only an extra dose of weirdness for him. He also argues for MK's merit as an employee, lazy or not, he's the best one Pigsy's ever had. Wukong is actually delighted to learn that MK was legitimately working during his time in the city, and agrees that he can continue working at the restaurant as long as it doesn't get in the way of training or world-ending catatrophes.
Ironically, this means that the event of "Sweet N Sour Pork" occurs mid-grounding, and Wukong decides to legitimately show up to the Food Wars (despite his extreme stage fright) to make sure MK is ok. Also due to the Gold and Silver Twins basically being MK's cousins (the Vixen had long ago considered Macaque one of her cubs), their motivations for the Food Wars is a lot different. They want MK to stop focusing on Pigsy's so that he can continue searching for Macaque and not have to worry about "mortal stuff". It ofc fails but the sentiment is noted.
Wukong is also opened the island to MK's friends and work mates so he can get to know them finally. He's been keeping a bit of a distance because of their connection to the PIlgrims, but now that his cub is working for and trusts them so much well...
The older twins, Rumble and Savage, def follow MK to the city a few times mostly to bother him at work and to observe whats so cool about the mortal city. They quickly discover cheese teas, arcades, McDonalds playplaces, and lazer tag, so they fall in love with city life as well. <3

Autie Iron Fan and Wukong both show zero mercy to their kids. Don't get them wrong, MK (and Mei because she insisted on learning from her great grandpa's bestie too) love training with Wukong! But every training session makes it very clear just why Wukong has the title of Victorious Fight Buddha and Great Sage. Pigsy was upset at first, thinking they were being too hard on the kids, but Tang actually argued that the two godly being HAVE to be hard on all of them! If the Lady Bone Demon was even a fraction as dangerous as the stories said, then they need to be as prepared as possible, and they don't have the luxury of soft training sessions to ease them into it. Wukong doesn't hesitate to advise she's actually WORST than what the book had written about.
Prev.
The kids come out of training sessions like they've just ran 20km. Sore and exhausted.
Mei def insists on learning too, with her parents approval (cus omg Sun Wukong? Ao Lie's old friend? Of course!). She also secretly has become super protective of her bestie ever since MK came clean to her about his origins. She wants to be there so that he doesn't have to be the strongest fighter, just one of them. Wukong's more a staff guy, but the Stalwarts are quick to help Mei further develop her sword training. They joke about how alike Mei and MK are to how Ao Lie and Wukong back in the day.
Red Son def argues that he's had plenty of training under Guanyin - which PIF raises a brow at since the bodhisattva doesnt teach offense. Red gets dragged along to about 50% of MK and Mei's training sessions (him and PIF bargained so he'd still have time to work on his machines), and he gets folded by them alot. Not for lack of trying, but because he genuinely underestimates how hard the pair will fight to protect one another. Red is a little smug to be the most experienced magically tho.
Pigsy and Sandy are on hand to provide food and rehydration. Tang is there too. For moral support. And to watch the Glorious Fighting Buddha and the Iron Fan Princess in action.
Tang also gets into asking Wukong what actually went down with the White Bone Demon, cus while the book portrayed her as a major emotional catalyst for the Pilgrims (Wukong's 1st banishment), she ultimately seemed to just be a run-of-the-mill demon. Wukong is quick to explain she was something far deadlier, and that while deception and banishment did occur, she did not simply die when Wukong struck her the third time. She grew in power. Tang is super intrigued and scared.

The first time they see a training session between Wukong and MK (likely shortly after New Years), the Noodle Gang is shocked by just how vicious Wukong can be even whilst clearly holding back. When asked why he is that way, Wukong doesn't hesitate to explain that growing up, it was either have no mercy or become someone else's dinner. Now that MK is establishing himself as a warrior in his own right, he has to be harder on him because if he doesn't, then that would breed lazy and sloppy fighting. Sloppy fighting will result in openings and weaknesses that can be exploited.
"I never trained MK to be a warrior, I wanted that to be his choice. But now that he's choosing to step into that role, I have a lot to catch him up on in a very short period of time. Now that we're involved, the Lady Bone Demon isn't going to hold back or show mercy to any of us and will specifically target him because he's my son! I can't risk MK not being ready for that."
Prev.
Anon i love your character dialogue so much i could kiss it.
Truth, according to Jttw the island once had wild predators (at least pre-Burning). Combined with the Demon of Havoc/Confusion incident; Wukong likely started training his people to fight solely for self-defense before he got recognised as an upcoming Demon King. Then he started training himself hard so that his people wouldn't all be forced into fighting roles. If he could take on the gods, his subjects wouldn't have to.
And now here's his own son. His cub. Someone who formed as the result of his mistakes as both a King and as a fighter. He never wants MK to taste the pain he did.
Wukong especially freaks out when the gang mention that MK briefly got stuck in the Furnace (he was trying to hide cus Quan's whining attracted guardsmen).
Wukong may be hard on MK as a mentor, but its all born from deep worry and fear of losing his child.
Pigsy, Sandy, and Tang def think Wukong is being a bit too ruthless, but Wukong bluntly asks them if they've ever been in a battle with an enemy who wanted them truly dead. Thats the kind of battle MK is in for if LBD decided to attack him.
The Noodle Shop gang quiet down afterwards. Later they whisper to the Stalwarts about them getting "exercise" so that they can at least be more fit to defend MK when the time comes.

Only because you’re the “threat” doesn’t mean you won’t be roasted.
Sometimes, not always, you need to remember that you’re fighting overpower young adults and maybe lay back a bit. Before they destroy what’s left of your self-worth.

I think we deserve more weird horse reptile aggression towards ancient monkeys, as a treat.

Jokes on him, Wukong is gonna end up yelling at him again approximately a month or so later when Azure Lion gets freed. MK realizes real quick that this is his mom's ex and introduces him as such to the others
Prev.
Ohoho yeah. After the LBD situation is cleared up, the monkey couple go to Erlang to deliever the good news/updates.
Then Erlang shares the uncomfy news that Azure Lion has been released on heaven's version of Parole. Signed off by Azure's bodhisattva (obvs since Manjushri loves his cat) and the Heavenly Generals...
Wukong and Macaque share a look.
And within seconds General Li Jing has a furious pregnant monkey running at him from across the entire Realm.
MK deduces that his parents are so angery/worried about this "Azure Lion"-guy being freed is because the Celestial Lion is like his mom's ex or something. He only knows some vague details about the Brotherhood from his parents + the Stalwarts since Wukong considers it such a shameful point in his life. MK makes sure to warn his friends about this guy in case there's trouble.
Azure assumes Wukong and Macaque have already influenced their cub to dislike the Brotherhood, so he tries to paint himself as a reformed criminal to the kids. MK only goes along with the lion's plan cus both of his parents are in that Scroll, and figures that Heaven is keeping Azure on a short leash in case of parole violations (they arent).

Ok, but after New Years, Wukong is definitely getting involved. I don't think he's very far along, not like he was in Slow Boiled at least, and is much more mobile and a lot less vulnerable as a result. Similar to how he was during the beginning of the journey. And the first thing he's gonna do, once MK finishes up his grounding, is up the ante on MK's training. At this point, there isn't much Wukong can do to stop him from fighting demons. He's established himself, but he'll be DAMNED if his cub isn't well prepared and trained for it!
Wukong is in about the (natural) Stone Monkey eqiuvalent of the start of the 2nd trimester, so he's definetly still limber enough to show off some basic moves to his cub.
MK has likely been play-fighting since he was little, but never really took interest in advanced fighting styles (he likes art). So he's in for a rude awakenibg the first time his mom sics a bunch of hair clones on him.
Wukong especially has to help MK with his more volatile powers since his eldest has yet to truly rein in his abilities. So much power/dao absorbed over the Journey, so chaotic a cub.
And when Wukong gets too tired and needs someone to take over?
Say hello to Auntie Iron Fan. She's *ruthless* with MK's training, especially since she gets Red Son involved. She doesn't want her baby wasting away in a garage while his father is away! Also she deduces that the Lady Bone Demon relies on Ice magic, and that MK, Mei and Red Son will need all the fire magic/resistance they can in order to take her on.

Li Jing just didn't want to risk pissing off Wukong again tbh. Eroang ha brought back the news that he was pregnant once more
Prev XD.
He really wouldn't. I can imagine the convo between Li Jing, Erlang, and Nezha being something like;
Nezha: "Father, I wish to assist in tracking down Sun Wukong's mate." Li Jing: "Why can't the simian do so himself?" Erlang: "He's with child." Li Jing, horrified: "AGAIN!? Oh hell no! I'm staying right out of this! Nezha, you stay at your post with the Map! While I... remain in Heaven and avoid confrontation with Sun Wukong." (*General Li Jing leaves*) Nezha: "He's scared of being yelled at by a pregnant monkey again ain't he?" Erlang: "Yup."
The Pagoda King builds himself his own panic room in case Wukong is really mad and comes to the Celestial Realm seeling help directly.

I don't see why Wukong and DBK wouldn't inform Erlang of the LBD's return, so I imagine they let him know that she most likely has the Furnace. This is also when Erlang learns of Macaque's disappearance (which later gets back to Nez Ha)
referencing.
Truth. DBK and Wukong would most likely passed on the knowledge that the Lady Bone Demon is back + she most likely stole the Furnace + Macaque likely went missing trying to investigate her upcoming return.
Erlang can't exactly go chasing leads though. The Emperor is super p'd off rn about the thefts, and the immortals only really care if LBD's havoc affects them. So he agrees that DBK can try and track down the Furnace/LBD, and Erlang will try to convince the gods to provide some info/resources on the matter.
Nezha hears all these facts from Erlang himself, who warns him to keep a closer guard on the Map in case the bone demon is aiming ot steal it to fuel the stolen Furnace. Nezha is immediately on guard - for Macaque being missing. He's known Wukong's mate for milennia! There's no way he'd disappear without good reason! Nezha asks to be put on the case to find Macaque and assign his dad to guard the map - but extreme pushback from General Li Jing forces Nezha to remain where he is.

How would you imagine Monkey King reuniting with Lin after 500 years if she possibly was made immortal when she merged with Bhudda?
Well....
I sorta suggested the idea that Lin might be an incarnation of the Golden Cicada in an older Wukongverse post.
But perhaps I was thinking a little too small.
Perhaps instead of her being the Golden Cicada, she's in fact a major missing entity?
Someone known for granting the Monkey King mercy?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
For we know... she's the life Miao Shan, the one who eventually became Guanyin in her (second) death. Hence why the Books of the Dead end her entry abruptly.
Wukong busts out after those 500 years are up, sees the Bodhisattva of Mercy and is immediately like "YOOOOO!!! YOU BECAME A GOD!? I'm so proud of you pebble!!" while his new pilgrim buddies have no idea what tf is going on.

DBK is most definitely going to have words eith Macaque. PIF will straight up kick his ass. They won't let the fact that this is the SECOND TIME Macaque had done this to Wukong when he needed him most slide at all

Yeah the Demon Bull aint gonna let it slide. Wukong don't even need to fight Macaque monkey-on-monkey to get his point across how mad the squad is.

Wukong ends up having to explain to Erlang that it wasn't even him who had messed up things in Heaven, he'd been the hostage! Erlang is more than willing to let the whole thing drop, provided they help him find the Furnace.
referencing.
Erlang def pauses when he hears that.
Sun Wukong - a hostage in a demonic coup?
Now the Three Eyed God has heard everything.
The reveal that Wukong's eldest (whom Erlang knew as a cub), was the one to plan the chaotic thefts to save his mom, immediately softens the General. Yang Jian did some stupid stuff to save his mom too once upon a time. And Erlang quickly calls off any manhunt in exchange for the Trigram Furnace back.
Red Son lead the general to where he left the Furnace (looks to be FFM given the coastline/volanic rocks), only to find that it's been stolen.
Tumblr media
DBK immediately takes the fall for Red Son, and agrees to find the Furnace and return it to Heaven as repayment. In private, DBK admits its a cover screen to try and follow Macaque's footsteps. Odds are that the Bone Demon had someone take the Furnace for her own doing, and if they're connected, DBK will find Macaque. Wukong is super grateful for DBK's offer, especially since it allows him to keep on eye an MK for the time being.
News of the "Monkie Kid" actually being Sun Qi Xiaotian, heir of Sun Wukong, becomes a bit of an open secret after New Years.

Wrlang brought his dog too. Quan was GETTING her pets this time
Referencing.
Quan snitched to Erlang cus she was sad that her fave monkey didn't play with her. On New Years!
Erlang knew immediatelly that his doggo was sad from lack of attention, and scanned the area to see what was up.
Only to see the Peach Orchard and Lao Tzu's lab raided, the Trigram Furnace missing, and a LOT of monkey hair tossed around.
Erlang beams himself to Sun Wukomg cus this has his fingerprints all over it. At least he writes it all off as a "nessesary measure" since Spider Queen did almost commit heavenly treason.
Xiaotian Quan immediately runs up to MK demanding her play time. MK is happy to oblige.
