Some highlights from Adam’s talk at Bronte2020

I was lucky to have a chance to attend the Brontë2020 conference earlier this month and hear Adam Nagaitis’ talk. These are just a few things that stand out in my memory. Hopefully a recording of the conference talks will be available soon.

Adam’s looking fine. His hair’s gotten longer, to his shoulders now. He seems okay in his cottage hideaway.

At the beginning of his talk, the moderators gave him a trivia quiz on Branwell. It was a struggle, and I don’t think he was expecting it, but he got the answer about Branwell’s first name correct.

He could not remember off the top of his head what were some of the resources he used to research Branwell’s life but there were a lot of them (which struck one of my potential questions off the list).

In addition to the talks given by academics, there are a couple special celebrity guests: Sandy Welch, who wrote the screenplay for the BBC's adaptation of Charlotte Brontë's Jane Eyre, Sally Wainwright, who directed the Brontë sisters biopic To Walk Invisible, and Adam Nagaitis, who portrayed Branwell Brontë, the Brontë sisters' brother, in To Walk Invisible.
