i think it's fun that the only time mitre copia appears in conundrum is as a figment in the fakeout version of the mind at the beginning. not fleshed out enough to be an archetype, just there as the vague "oh, this is who i'm supposed to be" at the beginning. someone should tell the guy who wrote it that this was a totally cool intentional choice he made and not just something he realized Today.

Copia's Conundrum: Countess is Coping

#it is SO hard for me to stop from yelling about all of the outfits al has drawn her in for this one. #and it will get progressively harder as the chapters continue because good lord she is so charming in all of these. #it is SO important to see them in context too. they're plot relevant. character development relevant. i swear. #we're totally not just playing a dress-up game with this goofy lady. #but anyway! back at it again for some mental health wins so i hope you have fun in there.

symbolic equivalent of a looney tunes character walking around obliviously snapping suspension cables and dropping anvils on people by accident and saying things like "gee whiz this place is pretty unsafe, i better watch out that it doesn't happen to me!"

i can't take the whole "pro memoria is foreshadowing copia's death" thing seriously. because copia is like, the death-omen-type of figure. plaguebringer, pale white horse, whatever. foreshadowing and coinciding with other deaths. but copia is not personally aware of this. and has no reason to be. because the whole thing plays like a metatextual joke if you start pretending anybody has a symbolic role. if the pro memoria thing is anything at all, it's about how copia is this omen of death who's completely oblivious to it. rolls up to the papacy like "oh gee a lot of people are dying i hope i'm not next" and starts getting paranoid about coffins. like. yeah girl they're dying due to your narrative role as the bringer of death but like. YOU don't need to worry about that.
