“It’s me, it’s no joke, it’s really me,” Zidane kept saying and it was then that Varane recognised his voice. He was offering him the chance to sign for Real Madrid.

“I didn’t realise it was actually him, I didn’t know what to say. So I told him very politely I was busy studying for my exams and asked him to call me back a bit later. When I’d put the phone down I thought ‘balls’ and I went to tell my older brother about it. He told me I was mad to have hung up on Zidane.” (x)

happy madrid pride, everyone!!!

while real madrid hasn’t made an official pride statement (disappointing), at least three of our favorite wags have made pride-related posts on instagram:

pilar rubio, sergio ramos’s wife(!!!!)

clarice alves, marcelo’s wife

sara sálamo, isco’s partner

i also love how both marcelo and isco liked their respective partners’ posts (although obviously i wish they’d make statements of their own!). clarice has been especially vocal about gay rights over the years, celebrating the us supreme court’s legalization of gay marriage and standing up for the LGBTQ community after far-right homophobe jair bolsonaro was elected president of brazil. 

since pilar’s post was part of her story, there’s no direct response from sergio.... but remember, our boy was one of the first footballers to openly express his support for gay marriage, all the way back in 2007!!!
