this is amazing omg
if you were to write a 3rd season of mermaid melody what would the plot be like? I haven’t read the mangas so idk if it continued further than the plot of s2
the only major thing that the manga covered that the anime didnt would be lucia becoming aqua regina, i think! correct me if im wrong :)
but basically!!! theres no baddies left to beat so i think it would finally be time for the girls to move back underwater! im gonna make a little list for what i think the Topics of the season would be! more under the cut!
basically i think the end-game for this would be dealing with internal ocean-specific issues! the people in the kingdom, dealing with their governments and how some kingdoms need to be rebuilt...their relationships and how they’re affected by their duties and new circumstances! im a little boring and ive never really thought about this before so this might be boring too hdgshs let me know what you guys would like to see!
kaito: deciding whether or not hes going to live underwater with lucia and company. hes very stuck on being panthalassa vs human until he eventually realizes living underwater doesnt mean he wont be human anymore. he transitions underwater by taking longer and longer trips to the north pacific. i also think theres a little story line about how the mermaids dont necessarily trust him because of what gaito did! mermaids never forget
lucia: dealing with being princess and the next aqua regina and what that means, learning the ins and outs of running a kingdom! shes also helping seira rebuild so she takes trips to the indian ocean often. helping guide her people and trying to redefine what it means to rule with the unique situation shes in. getting her people to accept kaito, missing being able to be carefree and have fun on the surface! and teaching her people, along with kaito, about humans and what they’re actually like since all they know about them is stereotypes
rina: i hc that lucia actually leaves for the sea first, its a whole crying session between the three of them tbh. hanon and rina have loose ends to tie up, so rina is dealing with masahiro. he finds out rina is a mermaid officially (but he suspected). the big issue is him finding out that shes the Princess. shes freaking out because he knows and he reveals hes got mermaid/panthalassa ancestry. shes not sure what to do because she cant ask him to uproot his life but they love eachother a lot, they start meeting eachother halfway! also rina goes back to her kingdom and realizes shes a bit lonely- she reconnects with noel and helps hanon rebuild her kingdom since shes just down south, they get a lot closer while hanon copes. at hanons suggestion, the kingdoms start holding more inter-merkingdom festivals so the three of them can see eachother more often!
hanon: :((( hanon has to deal with leaving nagisa, it helps her mature a little bit but its still really sad. theres a little plotline about her fighting with herself over it- shes jealous rina and lucia get to at least keep their boyfriends in their lives. she throws herself into being the best princess she can be, and bringing the south atlantic back stronger than ever. she deals a bit with the resentment from her people when they see her distraught about a human boy, but she assures them she will do her duties well. a key part in teaching the mermaid kingdoms about human life.
caren: her kingdom never fell, i think! so she doesnt really need to deal with that! in the beginning caren was hanging out with coco and noel in the indian ocean, but she starts taking more trips to the south atlantic when she sees how much there is to do. caren and hanon grow closer, they bicker a lot but in the friends way. at the end of the day caren knows what its like not only to be so protective of your home, but to have to leave a boy behind, so they bond over that. <333
noel and rina are hanging out more like they used to, she helps her out with her fears about masahiro like she did in season 2 and also helps coco out in the indian ocean. tiny plotline where noel talks about what she felt during those final battles they have- and how shes going around helping people because she felt helpless really often, especially during season 1.
coco: sdhgsh coco has to have an entire intervention from the other girls because shes hovering over seira a lot. shes acting like mom/big sister and of course thats great! but let seira do her thing, she has to learn by doing! noel of course is there to help her out and deal with the guilt of not messing seira up because she feels like thats what happened with sara. but yeah! when lucia visits the indian ocean she goes to coco a lot for advice now that shes the oldest, she loves having lucia around! kindred spirits but make it mermaids... pacific gang ftw! cocos the unofficial mom, aside from nikora ofc!
seira: poor seira dshgdh she was born for it of course but shes trying to keep together a kingdom at like eight! coco wont let her sign a sheet of paper without looking over it first and she feels stifled, shes super sweet tho! she misses when she was born (the 2nd time) and they were all drinking fruity drinks at pearl piari.... but duty calls! its weird because the orange mermaids loved sara but after what she did they think the orange pearl is like... cursed and seiras stuck in this weird situation wheres shes living up to the image of sara as a princess and not turning into her at the same time! (also this is so like AAA but wouldnt it be funny if seira started sneaking off to human-populated areas and fell in love with a human boy. DHSGDHSG )
this is like... c plot but masahiro fixing his relationship with his father. he gets in contact with rihito and learns more about the panthalassa, they become friends! rihito helps masahiro deal with that resentment he has for his dad because he gets it with a capital G, and masahiro is trying to decide what to do with his life. rihito of course is staying on land with little mikaru, and he considers what that would mean for him. masahiro and kaito eventually get to know eachother pretty well- they talk a lot about what being human or panthalassa means to them, and when masahiro finally decides to go live with rina, kaito drops him off. road trip!
