“nobody’s heard from me for months, i’m doing better then i ever was”

sometimes it takes a while to have growth. it’s taken me 16 years as someone with a disability to : finally be able to tie my shoes, do algebra, (i have an iep for math) use a key, touch my toes, stand longer then 5 minutes , and learn how to braid hair. all of these things, only this year i’ve figured out how to do, and i’m going to be 17 next month. do i sometimes still feel very ashamed of this? yes. but it doesn’t matter how long it takes for you to get into a good place , it matters if you keep pushing. you can be proud of accomplishments that seem small to other people. i can be proud of accomplishments that seem small to other people. it’s okay to take time to achieve certain things. i’m sorry to my past self that no one pushed her to her full potential and told her i know that these things seem hard in this moment but instead of giving up immediately let’s take a deep breath and try again and again. i was a very stubborn child. i was an amazing reader and logical thinker, and i still am , it’s something both myself and my family pride me on. i’m actually at my grade level on everything except for math . even though i may not have many irl friends, i still have time to find them. i still have time to make the world the way i want to live it. i’ve had horrible mental health most of my life, and i always used distractions to try to get over it. which made everything else be on the back burner , especially because i’ve been homeschooled since 4 grade. i guess my point of this is that i am proud of myself for a small thing today; and i wanted to share it but i didn’t know how to do that without saying all of this first . but i really am doing better then i ever was.
