Got any prompts for John Thomas Ward from Faith meeting a Paranormal Investigator! reader, who was Amy Martin's childhood friend and wants to stop Gary?
At first, you were in it for the thrills. That's all.
Paranormal investigating was just a hobby you enjoyed, although most of your discoveries were just candles being mysteriously blown out or unintelligible whispers replayed on a spirit box. But you were content with whatever you found and what little communication you made with spirits.
Now. Things have changed.
Never in your life did you expect to join a priest in his mission to save a girl’s soul and stop a horrible evil from breaking through into this world.
Yet here you both were, investigating the clinic where your friend Amy once worked. You were searching for demons or clues as to where Gary could be attempting to perform the Profane Sabbath.
You had a bone to pick with that cultist freak for what he did to her. Learning of her possession when you came over to visit one day had you furious. Gary used her and now she was gone...with some beast using her face to carry out its misdeeds and terrorize her family.
The tapes you have of it speaking in her voice still haunted you to this day. It was the clearest recording you’ve ever gotten of an entity from the other side, but god..you’d trade it for anything else in the world.
Anything but her.
So you decided to come to the clinic to do your own investigations into what happened there--where things might’ve gone horribly wrong between your childhood friend and Gary.
That’s when you ran into Father John Ward: the priest who allegedly killed Amy one year after the brutal murder of her parents and an elder priest.
At first you had nothing but insults for him, especially when he revealed he attempted an exorcism twice on her and failed both times. You thought he was just a fraud posing as a pastor.
Though..you could see his guilt, and he explained to you in great detail of the horrors he’s seen. But even then you weren’t fully convinced that he was capable of undertaking this mission to find Gary and stop doomsday from coming--as evident by his copper-colored crucifix.
He begged you to believe him, insisting he wants to save Amy’s soul just as much as you do, showing you a note that implied Father Garcia trusted him.
Eventually, you caved and refused to turn him over to the police..
Under the condition that you tagged along in his quest.
Reluctantly, he accepted. But only because you may help him find answers about what Gary’s done at these locations by contacting any resident spirits there. Plus if you could get proof to clear his name should he need it...that would be especially helpful.
So together you snuck into the dark and decrepit clinic, curious as to what you may find lurking inside. There were many boarded-up doors and ultrasound photos strewn across the floor.
As John walked past a lone IV drip, you stopped as your EMF device emitted a beeping noise. You took it off your belt loop, aiming it towards the stand.
The beeping persisted.
Jackpot.
“Oh! I caught an EVP. There’s a spirit right here.” Your eyes lit up, though you frowned as the priest took out his crucifix. You waved him off. “Save it. I gotta know more about this before you do your exorcism thingy..assuming you can do that.”
“I can. I’ve done it many times.” He huffed, a bit annoyed that you refused to trust him. “You know, I read of other investigators similar to you. They were at Snake Meadow Church-”
“I know what happened to them." You cut him off. "It’s a shame but..there’s consequences for getting too greedy with capturing spirits on film. I’m only here for answers and to help give them some peace, knowing someone's listening to them. Whatever evidence I take home is just a bonus.”
That seemed to shut John up for the moment. He just watched you prepare your equipment near the IV stand while looking out for any demons that could sneak up on you both.
Once you were all set up, you kept tabs on the spirit box and EVP recorder, doing your best to communicate with the spirit once it made its presence known on the radio frequencies. You asked a few questions regarding what happened here and if it knew of Gary.
John remained behind you, silent. All he heard was static, whispers, and a slight crying noise on the spirit box. Though he was impressed.
You clearly knew what you were doing.
After some time you decided to stop, not wanting to overwhelm the ghost with too many questions. And he blinked as you packed up your things. “What did it tell you?”
“There’s a lot of interference. I’ll have to parse through it when I get home. But I did hear a voice....it sounded miserable. Like it was crying, almost.” You frowned slightly. “It mentioned Gary and needles. Maybe his freakshow cult is pumping patients full of drugs and getting them high.”
“It would explain why they infiltrated the clinic.” He remarked, raising his cross. “Now will you let me free this poor soul?”
“Do as you wish, Father.” You backed away, bowing slightly in a mocking gesture. A smug grin graced you face as he rolled his eyes, but he proceeded with purifying the IV drip.
You were caught by surprise as it flickered bright yellow, before a ghost rose out of it and vanished into the heavens. ‘Huh..guess he’s not lying.’
John then picked up a note that had fallen to the ground and read it out loud, eyebrows furrowed in concern.
Note to self--
Pills do not dissolve in IV drip well.
Too weak; patients waking up before process is complete
Sooner or later they will realize they are having the same hallucinations
Suggest concentrated, injectable version
“..you’re right. Gary is drugging innocent people. We should continue investigating. I sense many more evils within this place.”
“Sounds like you should’ve gone into this business instead, pastor.” You joked. “But yeah, let’s keep going. For Amy.”
“Yeah..for Amy.” He nodded, feeling a bit more determined than before. “We cannot fail her.”
It seems like you two were already forming a quick alliance.

Clan, I can't stress how brilliant your fics are so if no one can make you the Dad John AU you crave. Can I request that you make that AU yourself?
Oh that’s true I DO have the power to make my own content :D
For this AU, the Doomed Child will be [Y/N] just because
......
"Here is thy penance: BRING THE CHILD TO ME. Perform this act of contrition...and thou shalt have the peace thou seekest. Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good.”
“..for His mercy endures forever.”
As John stepped out of the confessional booth, he was left to ponder the voice’s command. It was vague in its request, yet demanding at the same time. And he wondered who it could’ve been talking about.
‘Have I seen any children around this place..?’ He tried to think..
And suddenly he remembered:
There was a small figure hiding behind the church, and they fled into the cornfield as he approached the building. All he could make out was a blur of purple that vaguely resembled a human; he thought to follow them beforehand, but was afraid it would be another trap.
God only knows he’s sick of getting trapped by demons. He could thank those in the cemetery for that.
But the voice gave him the promise of forgiveness. How could he resist that? It wouldn’t lie to him..would it?
His eyebrows slightly furrowed as he stood in place, feeling himself becoming doubtful once more. He’s spoken with God before--and that sounded nothing like Him.
Perhaps it was an angel or some kind of messenger receiving him on His behalf?
Or maybe it was-
‘Stop.’ John shook his head, trying not to overthink everything. ‘I will carry out this wish..anything to ease this burden.’ He opted to shuffle through his notes instead. Usually he found his answers within the stacks he’s gathered throughout his journey.
A few mentioned kids being dragged into the cornfield...and some entity called the Spindly Lady who guarded the church basement that paranormal investigators tried to summon. Apparently children were terrified of her.
Well, that would be a problem.
If he were to find this one specific child, they wouldn’t go anywhere near the church grounds as long as she was still present. Even he could sense that she was hanging around.
So he decided to play her little game, and in no time her violent evil spirit manifested itself with a screech. She was quite erratic in her movements, but in the end John prevailed and purged her from this world.
Now that the church was cleansed, he could seek out the child and bring them inside.
They would have no choice but to trust him.
...........
You were just wandering in the cornfield, feeling anxious about being here all alone in the dead of night. There was no sanctuary from the chilly weather except for the church--but you were far too terrified to go in there.
The Spindly Lady or those bad people in red would just drag you back out here...or worse...into the dark basement.
The mere thought made you shiver in fear.
You went to the lone scarecrow in the field, smiling at it like it’s an old friend. “At least you’re here.” Putting your small hands on its body, you tucked some of the loose hay back into its body. It was shedding everywhere. Nobody ever took care of it, so this was the least you could do.
Suddenly, you noticed the cornstalks rustling and tensed up, looking in the direction of the sound.
It was..
A man, but not just any man. It was a priest.
Your eyes lit up with hope that he could help you. This was someone you could trust for sure..although his eyes looked quite tired and sad.
‘What’s a priest doing out here so late anyway?’
Regardless, you didn’t want him to miss you. So you waved your arms and called out to him.
“Hi, mister! Will you help me?”
John stopped in his tracks upon seeing you running up to him. Indeed, you were that exact child he saw entering the cornfield. You wore a purple shirt and jeans--you looked at least nine or ten years old, with some dirt on your clothing. But despite your rugged appearance, you looked happy to see him.
Though you didn’t expect him to be so tall. It intimidated you a little.
“Don’t be afraid, I will help you.” He knelt down. “I’m Father Ward. You can follow me back to the church, we’ll be safer there.”
In an instant, you were seized by panic. “Th-The church? But..what about the Spindly Lady?”
“She’s gone. Only God remains there now. He will protect us.” With a gentle smile, he offered his hand to you. “Let us go.”
"Um..I’ll just follow you, Father.”
John simply nodded in understanding, getting up and heading back to the church. His smile gradually disappeared as he felt the guilt starting to weigh down heavily on his back.
Why did this feel so...wrong? Was he doing the right thing by luring you to an unknown fate?
“What is your name, child?”
“It’s..[y/n].” You timidly answered, feeling uneasy as you both entered the church, confused when he took a left. But you kept following him anyway. “Where are you taking me?”
“..to find a lighter for these candles.” He lied. “They’ve all gone out.”
“Why do you sin?”
Freezing in his tracks, the priest turned back to you, almost bewildered by your question. “What...?”
“I asked why are you here so late?” You tilted your head, confused by his panic-striken expression, which he quickly covered up after realizing his misheard you.
“O-Oh..I’m..on a mission to stop a great evil. Have you seen any demons?”
“Not in a long time.” You hugged yourself to keep warm. “But I know they’re watching. They are all around us...it’s scary.”
He nodded once more, but as you both approached the confessional booth, he tensed upon seeing the red curtain rustling. As if something inside had grown impatient and was enticing him to come closer.
Suddenly his gut was screaming not to trust it. That it was a trap.
For all he knew, it could very well be a demon disguised as an angel.
This church was too far corrupted to be a safe and holy place. He found snippets of its horrific past..realizing that he probably was being tricked into handing over an innocent child to some unknown creature.
And for what? His own peace of mind?
No..this wouldn’t give him any peace. Only an added layer of guilt on top of his past failures. He let people die....and was about to offer you up with no questions asked.
How could he be so selfish and cowardly?
“Is there someone in there-?”
“Don’t.” You froze as John suddenly put an arm out, blocking you from proceeding further. “I feel..that this place isn’t safe either. You’re right. They could be all around us. Be they in a stained glass window..or this very booth where I confessed my sins. I’m very sorry, [y/n]..I...I couldn’t sense it before, but I do now. I’m so sorry...I understand if you can’t trust me.”
He closed his eyes, expecting you to run away and shun him for misleading you.
But instead, you hugged him, shocking him at first. As he looked down at you, you quickly let go and smiled nervously. “It’s alright, Father. I’m just..I was scared nobody would find me out there. But you did. I feel safe as long as I’m with you. I trust you.”
His heart nearly melted at your words.
God, you were so kind..he didn’t deserve this.
Kneeling down again, he gave you a proper hug, which you returned. “I’ll protect you as best I can. My home would be the safest place...if you’re willing to go there, that is. Do you have any parents?”
“..they’re with the bad red people. They always called me the “Doomed Child” instead of my real name...I don’t know why.”
Oh, there’s no way in hell were you going back to them.
“Your name is [y/n], and you are not doomed.” He reassured you. “None of God’s children are doomed forever. He will keep you safe, as will I. I swear it.”
“Okay, thank you, Father.” You smiled, as did he.
John believed this was God’s offer at letting him atone for failing to save one child--by granting him the opportunity to save another. The evil hasn’t taken you, and he certainly won’t let that happen.
Maybe after all of this is over..he could become your new guardian.
As a father that he never got to be.

"please don't leave me alone!" with john ward? it could be either's dialogue, i don't mind
"Timmy?"
"You got the wrong guy, demon!"
"WHYYY?!!!!" The Elevator Demon hissed as he skittered away from your crucifix. Once you knew he was gone for sure, you pocketed it before turning to John.
You were both trying to break the seal of Alu within Lisa’s apartment complex, looking around for clues. Then you got separated for two seconds and suddenly he rushed back to you as another demon’s heavy breathing drew near.
“Where the hell did that thing come from?”
“........”
“John. Why was it following-?”
“It’s my fault, okay?” He admitted with a weary sigh. “I saw a message claiming there was a 7th floor. I thought we could reach it and find more clues....but it tricked me into calling for it.” Then he bowed his head in shame, clutching the bronze crucifix with a trembling hand. “Why am I being deceived so easily, [y/n]? Am I really up for this task?”
You frowned slightly at your fellow priest, putting a comforting hand on his shoulder. "Hey, don't beat yourself up. The more demons we purge around town, the safer things will be. Like at the clinic. This one should be easy to dispose as long as we’re careful.”
He nodded, although he still seemed doubtful.
After thinking for a few moments, you took your hand away and had an idea. “I saw a ritual knife on the floor below. So I’ll go get it really quick. You stay here and watch out for-”
“No! Please don’t leave me alone!”
Suddenly John’s hand flew to grab your wrist, and you were shocked, though you blinked upon seeing the tears welling in his eyes. They were full of sheer terror.
Was this really the same man who went back to the Martin residence to face his past, vanquished many demons in his travels, and survived the infamous Candy Tunnel?
“John, are you seriously scared of some one-eyed--”
“I-I’m not afraid of that demon. I’m only afraid that..you won’t come back..” He whispered brokenly. “I can’t do this without you. I-I need you, [y/n].”
Now this was surprising.
Up until now, he seemed just fine on his own. You thought he'd prefer it to be that way. After all, you only came to his house under Father Garcia's insistence that you assisted him in this quest--and on the surface he seemed to be no coward, fending off demons with no problems and instructing you on what to do.
But having your company only cemented his fears that you could possibly be killed at any given moment--and he would carry this burden until he met his maker.
"Alright, I’ll stay with you. I promise." Soothing him, you gently took his hand off you, giving him a smile. "We'll keep each other close, and the Lord closer. Now let's go find that son of a bitch and save Lisa."
“...thank you." John sounded a lot calmer now, relieved you weren’t going to abandon him again. And he followed you closely as you both wandered the apartment’s haunted halls.
As embarrassed as he felt about overreacting--his fears were continuously getting the better of him; especially since his most recent nightmares began to involve you being possessed or dying in the most gruesome ways known to man.
Will they ever stop after all of this is over? He doesn’t know. The only way to find out is to survive, but even surviving this was too much for one man to deal with.
Aside from God, you give him the strength to continue.
You help him feel safe.

I have a feeling of déjà-vu…
I’ve wanted to redo the pages I’d done previously to a story about the Son’s scar for a while, so I finally took the time to do that!

John Doe from the John Doe Game would definitely be one of the more dangerous inmates in the yandere prison AU idea I had
Just absolutely nonchalant about the crimes he’s willing to commit even though he’s behind bars and adding more time with each one. I mean, he’s already in here where you are, what else could he possibly want? Other than to be your one and only of course!
He won’t break out, not yet, not until you divulge some information so he can find out where you really live. He knows the address you gave him (in an adorably fed up tone! Oh so cute so cute so cute! He could eat you up! Would you let him? Oh that would be a dream-) whoops! Sorry, sometimes he gets off track!
Anyway, he knows the adress you gave him was fake. It’s fine you lied, he knows why you have too, and it makes this whole chase all the more fun! Hey! You want a present? He got it from the convict in cell 308, you look like the type of person who enjoys severed fingers! Or at least the rings that used to be on them.
Anyway I’ll hush for now thanks for reading if ya did!

John Doe! John Doe! We are small, we are few, but we are growing in strength. Any content or thoughts on the boi would be awesome.
-Literally loves everything you do. You could be sitting in your night clothes not having showered the whole day and he’s just “ahh…perfection”.
-Into feeding you. Probably wants praise for cooking as well so the least you could do is moan at the taste as he puts the food in your mouth
-Steals your clothes right in front of you. Probably huffs your underwear in broad daylight too
-Makes spare keys and knows how to pick locks. Also knows how to break in without a sound like he comes in through shadows or something
-“Hey! Whatcha doing? Why you lookin so nervous? It’s just me!”
-A bit of a masochist. Weirdly into being degraded and told to fuck off. Slapping him and telling him to go away is seen as foreplay
-If it’s weird he’s into it. Be it slightly unnerving to full on revolting. Man is NOT afraid
-Mommabean (That’s about all I got for now! I like the game a lot!)

John Doe Headcannons-
Judging by John's actions in game, I feel like he's not quite human at all and more of an eldrich demon taking a human form sort of thing. If that makes sense. Hes aware of this but...I think its complicated for even him to understand because it just has always been this way and he doesn't understand why.
For him...Its just always been a lonely existence. Not quite alive, Not quite dead the world practically a simulation of sorts for him.
I feel like John is INCREDIBLY prone to emotional mood swings due to not know how to quite control this hold over his world and when he meets Y/N he immediately projects all his emotions onto them and desperately wants them to love him even if his actions are only making them slip away like water through a pasta strainer.
He craves stability and understanding and he wants this so badly in the form of Y/N but just doesn't know how to get it thus leading to him becoming "creepy."
I feel like John has been alone for quite sometime and well...When he spotted the "perfect person" he couldn't help but project his deluded fantasies onto them.
