Now that Eurovision is over, I want you all, especially the Americans, to take a good hard look at how the voting results turned out when people boycotted the event.
In the UK, the viewing figures were down about 2 million people compared to last year. Up to 2 million people made the conscious decision to not watch and not vote because of Israel's inclusion.
The final results of the public vote, Israel came in first place in the UK and got 12 points. Because the only people watching and voting were people who backed Israel or at least didn’t care one way or another.
This doesn't matter. It's a music contest. The boycott was still the right thing to do because it is just a show at the end of the day, and the viewing figures have more impact than the results.
But it is also a good object lesson to show you what happens if you boycott a vote over something that does matter. Choosing not to vote in, let's say, a presidential election will have similar results.

I hate how people can openly complain about "overpopulation" in the global south and "low birthrates" in europe and japan

i keep getting recommended videos about how minecraft isn't fun anymore and it's mojangs fault. i think its such a fascinating phenomenon because i think at least 70% of that comes down to anything getting a little stale when it's all you do for years and years. of course you're going to not feel like something is as fun as it used to be, you started playing minecraft when you were 11 and you are 23 now with a job. things change and you are experiencing it.

wawog_now: “The Atlantic published a justification for the murder of Palestinian children-making the distinction between a "legally killed child" and a "murdered one," and arguing that killing Palestinian children is not just a legitimate act of war but a necessary one. Today, a video out of Rafah showed a martyred baby, beheaded with no legs. This, for The Atlantic, is a "legally killed child."”
“As attacks on Jenin, Jabalia, and Rafah intensify, the children they kill — have killed, will kill — must be preemptively and retroactively justified, coated in statistics and liberal policy-speak. The Atlantic's role in the American Empire is thus to produce an explainer for Israel as to why killing kids is legal and necessary, even if it is "bad optics." The Atlantic is more concerned about the bad press that Israel might get for killing kids than the murder of the children themselves. After all, the editor-in-chief, Jeffrey Goldberg, was an IOF prison guard who assaulted Palestinian detainees.”
“For a publication whose whole identity is a detached and measured tone, it is ironic, although of course fitting, for them to finally write without pretenses and just authentically express the imperial bloodlust they've felt all along.”

Friend of mine was dealing with a therapist's office and got frustrated with their actions, wrote out a letter to them, and this was part of their reply. I'm fucking livid.

The last line shows a fundamental misunderstanding of who the people who have those things are, who we actually are as a community. The idea that someone with ADHD or ASD cannot be eloquent is fucking absurd. The absolute condescension and blatant display of medical ignore is just infuriating.

I think you should read webcomics but I also think you should challenge yourself about it, go find that odd creation that's out there because one horny lady once thought it was cool or a dude was giving his first shot at a story and it came all wrong or they tried to do it traditional and their only medium was pencil and printer paper. Maybe if you like reading romance on webtoons you can go look at comic fury and see someone's nightmare of a comic or maybe you like sci-fi and there's someone on tapas drawing the sexiest priest ever who will finally not bore you. Maybe all you've read are Hiveworks webcomics when The Duck comics are right there and maybe that comic that's using only 3D assets that turned you off at first really has the most compelling writing you'll see this year. It's easy to say "read more webcomics" and give you the same three suggestions or collectives over and over. The net is vast and infinite and so is the array of human creation.
Maybe start with a random one. And then keep jumping

The other thing that makes me feel better about aging is that time I was at the lesbian meetup and talking to some cool ladies in their late 50s who said they wanted to organise a new meetup just for their age group and above.
"Oh, why?" I asked. One of them heaved a sigh of immense weariness and said "We're tired of younger women trying to fuck us."
