1. The plumbers mates mysteries by Jl Merrow.

M/M fiction involving Tom- plumber who can find hidden objects such as dead bodies and Phil a PI, Ex-cop. Oh and they hated each other in high school

2. The soulbound series by Hailey Turner

M/M fiction. Fantasy fixed with Crime

Side note- another short series I loved was Carry The Ocean and it’s sequel by Heidi Cullian. I loved how authentic this book was in looking at mental health and autism.

This is one of my favorite series, and Brian/Justin is a pairing that will always have a place in my heart. The show ended years ago, and there are a lot of amazing fics to be read (My favorites: Post-Season 5 because BRIAN/JUSTIN BELONG TOGETHER)

No More Ugly Naked Guy by darksylvia {PG-13} Category: Crossover: Friends Summary: The first time they noticed the absence of Ugly Naked Guy, Monica and Rachel were watching Bridget Jones’ Diary together (thus driving the men out), and so were in the dark when the lights in Ugly Naked Guy’s apartment went on. Bea’s comment: This fic is hilarious! Chandler’s voice is spot-on, and it’s hilarious how the gang starts spying on Brian/Justin sexy-times. ❤Omelet by Rhiannonhero {R |Post-Season 3 |Hurt/Comfort} Bea’s comment: Ethan comes back, and Justin finds out he’s tested positive. Now, he has to get tested. Really Not A Big Deal by Suz {PG-13 |Post-Season 5} Summary: You know you’ve reached one of those rare moments where you’ve Really Pissed Linds Off. A 513 episode addition. Sky of Blue and Sea of Green by Suz {R |Season 3} Summary:  It might be a good idea to get something that wouldn’t piss Justin off this year. Humour fic. Rated R. August 2005. ❤Subject to Change by themagichour {R |Season 1 AU} Category: AU of S1E21 Summary: AU where Brian moved to NYC in episode 121. Brian and Justin meet there, 3-4 years later. Bea’s comment: This has become my favorite Brian/Justin. I love how they become sort of best friends, and how this time it’s Brian who’s waiting for Justin, but in a total Brian-way. I’ve already re-read it three times in 24 hours. The Adventures of Sunshine and Sweetums by suz {R |Humor} Something is *really* freaking Brian out. Post-513 future fic, humour! ❤The Pink Posse And I by eleveninches {PG-13 |Crack/Humor |Season 4} Summary: When Brian and Justin break up over the whole gang issue, Brian finds himself in even more trouble than when he started. While he’s caught playing Maria to Justin’s Tony, bitter gang rivalries come to surface as Cody and Justin try to be the biggest hetero basher on the block. An alternate take on episode 4x05. Brian/Justin. Bea’s comment: Once again, Hunter steals the show XD ❤The Things I Cannot Change by Suz {NC-17 |Season 1 AU |EPIC} There are some things Justin can change, and some he can’t. An AU starting around episode 107. 183,000 words. NC-17. ❤Type 1 by Suz (suzvoy) {NC-17} Summary: “Jennifer,” he interrupted, seriously not in the mood for this, “there was no fruit involved anywhere. Believe me, I know all about Justin’s allergies, and shared that information with the paramedics on the way here. It was completely normal, non-kinky, vanilla sex.” He decided not to mention the butt plug. Justin probably wouldn’t appreciate that. Sequel: Please Be Aware Sequel: Two Months, Five Days Bea’s comment: This whole series is hilarious. AKA the one where Justin is allergic to latex. XD The third story is my favorite, and I liked everyone’s reaction to Brian and Justin being monogamous, especially because we know just how Brian feels about the M word.

My QAF Fanfic Recs

I thought i’d make a post (which will be linked to on my tumblr!) of all my fanfic recs! I started watching QAF US in October 2011 and had finished the series by early December. Since December, i’ve devoured hundreds of fics of all sorts and i was just thinking the other day about how (when i was new to the fandom) long it took me to find new good fics. Because you have no idea what sites to go to or what authors to go to! So here’s recs. (For any of you who are Torchwood fans as well, i have a bonus Torchwood fic at the end as it is my all time favourite TW fic that i recomend to everyone!)

A story about the love for a very special person and how to look at the world with different eyes.

This is my fave QAF fanfic ever! I suppose it’s not for everyone and i know some people have problems with it, and i myself was skeptical at first when i read the summary as i thought it might be done insensitively. But it is SO well done, i cannot fault it!

A Thousand Beautiful Things by Lemon_Bar

Summary: Between his infuriatingly understanding therapist; ‘the gang’ who still insisted, despite his vociferous protests, that he was a part of them; nurses who glared at him for being such a shit, and apparently mistreating their most sacred patient (Justin, his poor mute, helpless roommate), and Justin, not to mention the nightmares he suffered nightly — Brian severely wondered if perhaps choosing a prison sentence might have been easier on him than the fresh hell that was Liberty Hospital.

Confused by Princess Kirsty

Summary: Justin (still an intern at Vanguard) has had a long and tiring day. What will happen when he senses Brian’s presence.

Pretending by Lindtti

Summary: What happened after Brian’s Dad’s funeral? Justin wants to help.

It was so hard to try and make a summary for this one shot but it is seriously amazing. I don’t want to spoil it but it is such an amazing season 1 look into their relationship. Check out the rest of this authors work too!

How To Improve A Lousy Day by Film Lover

Summary: Brian likes Justin’s uniform (a 105 gap-filler) (In 105, Justin stayed at Brian’s loft (presumably on the couch) the night his mother came looking for him at Woody’s. The next day, Telson stopped by Brian’s office and told him he wanted to go to Babylon, and Brian took him there that night… we never find out where Justin was that night. Jennifer found Justin outside of his school the following day. I wanted an explanation as to where Justin went that second night.)

Summary: Classical Conditioning Works

For some reason this is one of the sexiest fics i’ve ever read in this fandom! It’s not the sex itself that does it, it’s just the concept. Justin has basically (unknowingly to Brian) conditioned Brian to cum when he presses down on a certain part of his hand. It’s short and i can’t recomend it enough! Vamphile is also one of this fandom’s classic authors.

Sleeping With The Enemy by Suzoy

Summary: Mel has had a falling out with Lindsay and has turned up at Brian’s door needing a place to stay.

Love love love this fic! I especially loved that it was from Mel’s pov as she’s really underused in fic. Plus I’m a sucker for ‘other people’s pov on the Brian/Justin relationship’ fics!

Teacher Fic by Rachel Anton and Laura

Summary: Justin is a 29 year old economics teacher whose not a fan of economics and not a fan of teaching. Brian is a 17 year old pupil in his class.

This is the classic teacher!fic in this fandom and an absolute favourite. Even though the ages of the characters are reversed, they are still very much ‘Justin’ and ‘Brian’ which is good because I’m not a fan of those ‘personality and age swap’ fics.

Don’t Forget Your Toothbrush by Concerned Lily

Summary: A fic inspired by the quote

Let’s Here It for The Boy by LennonGirl

Summary: During the last few days, I had seriously considered the possibility of letting Justin top me. (set during season 1)

From the summary alone you might think this fic is going to be some huge out of character mess seeing as its set in season 1, but it’s the complete opposite! All this authors fics are insanely good, but this is my favourite.

Little Boy Found

Summary: What happened on the way home from New York in 1.10?

This is a really old fanfic actually if I remember rightly and a classic 1.10 fic. It includes the whole gang (obviously only the ones who were on the roadtrip!) and each and every character is so perfectly done for this place in season 1.

Firsts by Peri

Summary: Brian’s thoughts after the ‘it was love to me’ scene in 4.01

This is a beautiful fic but there is one scene that makes it a favourite. It contains a heartbreaking flashback to episode 1.21 to what happened after Justin confronted Brian about New York where Brian comforts Justin. It’s a moment I’ve never actually seen covered in fanfic before, and its one of my favourite scenes!

Whore In A Hoody by Vamphile

Summary: Justin is a 17 year old hustler with a really disturbing view on life. Brian can’t resist trying to help him.

A classic fic by a classic author and one I so nearly ignored! The fic is written in a (LONG) series of drabbles, which when I read that it put me off because I didn’t like the idea of a story made up of disconnected drabbles, but this NOT how it is done. The drabbles add a depth to the story and give you an insight into both characters minds and it is so emotional.

Miss You by Triciaqaf

Summary: Gapfiller (of sorts) for the end of 304. Assumes mostly canon, but goes AU since we know 308 was supposed to be the first time they got together again. Or do we…? Who knows what happened between episodes? ;)

Hell Is Other People by Shannon Marie

Summary: Sixteen year old Michael babysits ten year old Justin (AU) . Warning Underage sex.

This fic is told from Michael’s pov (if you don’t like his character, don’t let it put you off the fic. He’s in character without being irritating) which works really well. There’s something about this fic that i can’t put my finger on. Morally, you’re not supposed to like it but it’s not squicky or uncomfortable (atleast i don’t find it so). It’s handled very well. You can just understand Brian’s dilemma.

Healing Hands by Severina

Summary: The boys, their friends, PFLAG, and baseball.

Set during that timeframe when Justin’s still dealing with the bashing. Potective!Brian. It��s cute without being overly fluffy and it’s in character.

Morning Moments by Arianette

Summary: Takes place in between ep313 and the season 3 finale. Justin observes a sleeping Brian and the changes in their relationship. What happens when Brian wakes up?

Beautifully done and in character. You can tell it was written before the series had finished, but it is still very fitting. And it’s adorable.

A Battle Scar Or Two by Vamphile (warning for self harm)

Summary: Justin has made a mistake in Ethan. His pain is managable, sort of, until Brian finds out how he’s managing it.

QaF Britin fic rec list

Kiss Me Alright - Autistic Justin Taylor (18) gets transferred from the children and youth psychiatry/Harrisburg to St. James, an institution for mentally ill people in Pittsburgh….and Justin is really concerned because the new tower is so much higher than the last one and how should the prince ever be able to find him now? A story about the love for a very special person and how to look at the world with different eyes. - The grammar and spelling in this fic could do with some work but the story is so beautiful and Justin and his autism is portrayed so well. Very OOC Justin and very AU! I never get tired of this fic and it really does bring tears to my eyes!

Turning Points - Sometimes things happen that shouldn’t, and change your life forever. What if Justin wasn’t so lucky at the party in 214? - TW: Rape. This fic is really hard to read, as I’m sure you can imagine but it is beautifully written and the author helps you get into the heads of both Brian and Justin extremely well. I thoroughly recommend reading this fic just make sure you are in a good place when you do it!

Sound of Silence - Brian meets the new busboy at the diner, a deaf kid named Justin… Totally AU; Slash Obviously ; Brian/Justin - This was written by one of my favourite QaF authors and I must say she did a great job. As aforementioned, totally AU but it is so darn cute! Pretty fluffy at times, less so at others. Multi-chaptered but not too long, I could read this again and again!!

Stirring Up Trouble - Justin is a cake designer who rubs Brian the wrong way. Slight AU - Justin/Brian romance, Justin/Emmett friendship - mainly fluff! - I’m almost finished with this, not completely yet but it is SO CUTE! Slightly AU with the way B and J meet, and with Justin’s career ect. I really love it and the M rated scenes are so fucking hot!

Only Time Series - I would usually put the authors description here but there are multiple fics in this series, but they all continue from one another. The thing about these fics is as oppose to it started just before something big happens, the big thing happens and then it finishes like usual fics, these sort of just… keep going. This is B and J just sort of… living. Kind of like you’re reading more episodes, sometimes big things happen, sometimes it’s normal and not much is happening but it’s still written very well as expected from Xie. This series is post 5-13.

Obviously there are more than this these were just the first ones that came to my head. All are multi-chaptered, some more than others. I hope this is helpful!!

Not Easy: Jenniger dies, Justin has to take care of Molly, Brian helps. Very good story, well written, and in character. Must read :) .

Logan Edward Taylor: Wonderful, sad, and amazingly well written one-shot. Highly recommended.

Tenebrosity: Present Time: A little over 10 years post-series moving forward. Past Time: Story directly after Justin goes to NY, returning to Brian & leading up to present time. WIP, but updated regulary from what I can tell. It’s very angsty, and quite. There’s also a OC death, which is basically what drives the plot. It really recommend it.

The Sign: Four years post-series. Brian gets a phone call he cannot ignore. Highly recommend this story. It’s full of angst, and makes you cry, but at the end it’s just amazing.

Work Inside Out: Amazingly beautiful and sad all at the same time. Great read, and highly recommended. Justin!Amnesia, Car accident.

The Dog Days of Summer: Post 513. Justin finds a stray dog in New York. Cute, short story. Highly recommended.

The Paper Hearts Killer: Brian is a cynical private detective working for the Pittsburgh PD who doesn’t believe in psychics. Justin is a talented artist haunted by horrifying dreams. What happens, though, when Brian’s police work hits too close to home?

You’ve asked. And asked and asked and asked. And I dragged my heels, because the thought of making a “recs list” just seemed so daunting and overwhelming because what if I missed something?! What if I didn’t capture the essence of Brian and Justin? 

Silliness.

Because at the end of the day, as many hang ups and anxieties as I seem to have over the phrase “rec list,” there is nothing I love more than a really wonderful fic, and there are just definitely some that I revisit time and time again. They’re the ones that if someone asked me offhand if I read them, I’d be able to immediately say “oh, yeah! LOVED it!”

Shadowhunters Fandom Story - Part Twenty-One

Five Fave Fics: 

Bright Lights, Small Town by @lecrit​

Why I love this fic:  Even though I am a fan of Lecrit, something about the summary made me read this story last of all her works. Ironically, it wound up being one of my favorites. Granted, I did find it a lot harder to re-read once my own mother passed away, but it did not diminish my love for the angsty, vulnerable story. Also, did I mention it has some very adorable dogs? Who can resist Alec Lightwood with a dog by his side?? Well Magnus thought he could, poor guy. Lecrit has a knack for being able to capture the correct tone between any and all the characters, from Magnus and Simon to Alec and Jace. Not only that, this is a full story, about pain, healing and learning how to accept love. 

Fave quote: “I’m a veterinarian,” Alec retorted, just as obstinate. “I’ve been bitten by wilder beasts than yourself, Bane.”

If You’ve Got The Money, I’ve Got The Time by j__writes 

Why I love this fic:   I have a real soft spot for this story. I don’t know if it is because I am familiar with the 90’s or if I just can’t resist these two dorks in love, plus I am a sucker for a slow burn. The writing is genuine and @jwrites_ is not afraid to tow the hard line. Some may disagree with the ending, but I really felt that it was warranted and truthful. Plus there is an extra one shot, that lets us have a little bit more of this lovely story. @Jwrites_ paints a beautiful portrait of young love, with humour, a thread of self doubt and softness. 

 Fave Quote: “You had a little mustard on your lip,” he says, darting his eyes away when Magnus runs his tongue along his lips. “Sorry, if that was weird.” “No.” Magnus continues eating. “Thank you.” He nudges Alec with his elbow, smiling while he chews. “You’re better at this boyfriend business than you think.”

Love Looks Not With The Eyes by Ariadne & orsoly_writes (malec_hun)

Why I love this fic: This is a controversial pick, because sadly, this story has not been updated since 2018. That being said, I do believe it is still worth a read. This is the slowest of slow burns, filled with anger and misunderstanding, healing and the most tender, fragile moments. You will have feelings. I so want these two together, and would love nothing more than this story to be finished. 

Fave Quote: You know, you don’t have to have eyesight to be able to see, Alexander.

Trust Me by LoverOfWriting

Why I love this fic:  I spent almost a whole weekend binge reading this fic. It is not finished yet, but the author is still updating and promises to finish. Alec is an escort, so yes, this is explicit, and super sexy. But more than that, there are secrets, budding relationships, adorable moments and other storylines that makes this a robust story. Some may say there is too much story, but judging how I devoured this, I disagree. 

Fave Quote: Magnus closed his eyes and let himself feel Alec’s lips as if it was their first kiss. It felt like a brush of warm, sunny breeze into his burdened soul. Alec broke the kiss and smiled softly. “I lied, actually.” He whispered. “Mmmm?” Magnus hummed, his lips still tingling from the kiss. “I made two cakes.”

Higher than the Big Trees by @carmenlire  

Why I love this fic:  Ready for a long fic that is well written, and has all the fluff you could ask for in a #malec story? There is some eventual smut, and it is very satisfying ;) 

Fave Quote: Magnus just stares at him, blinking before he’s falling forward into Alec’s chest and laughing. Alec wraps his arms around Magnus to collect him on autopilot as he starts smiling himself. Magnus is laughing his ass off, great chuckles and gasping breaths. It takes him a moment but when he finally collects himself, he pushes playfully at Alec’s shoulder before sliding his palm down until it’s resting against Alec’s heart.

(Author Notes: I would like to just make a little note on the content of Cuckoos Three! One of the main characters has DID (Dissociative Identity Disorder) and although I do not have this disorder myself, I did extensive research before tackling this story. I read texts, I read therapists books and I spoke to people with first hand experience with DID. But I do not have the disorder myself so my depiction of DID will not be flawless, but know I am doing my best with all that I have learned! DID is honestly completely fascinating to me, the brain works in amazing ways. And if you are interested in learning more, pick up some books on the subject, it’s an eye-opening look into how the mind handles trauma. Despite the fact that one character has this disorder, this story is not just some kind of a psychological drama. “Cuckoos Three” is a romance and overall a sweet story, I hope you enjoy!)
