“Thanks,” Ian says in response to V, but he’s looking at Mickey when he says it, that stupid lopsided grin tugging at his mouth. Mickey’s cheeks are warm and fucking—whatever. He doesn’t care if he blushes. He wants Ian to keep looking at him like that. “You ready to go?” Ian asks, nodding to the door. “You gonna tell me where we’re going?” Mickey asks, idly wondering if he should bring his backpack or just leave it in the back room until his next shift. “Maybe,” Ian teases, turning slightly towards the door with a smirk on his face. Mickey decides fuck the backpack, he doesn’t need anything in it tonight, and he follows Ian without so much as a second glance back.

I would love to read the AU fic ideas as I can’t get enough of the whole different ways they fall for each other and their magical firsts.

I am in love with your whump series but I absolutely adore your fluff too. Whichever story would have the most whump and angst and then fluff and love and smutt and more fluff is the one I would go for!

Also the S3 canon divergent one is so interesting. Where is Mickey after so many years? Svetlana, Yev still in the picture? Is Ian back to stay or moving with the army?

the s3 canon divergent idea is one of my more recent ones tbh so i don't have a ton of it fleshed out yet, but i do have some answers. as for ian, he's home for good, or at least he's leaning towards that idea. he has no intention of enlisting again at the start of this story.

as for mickey and the rest of them--well, i can't divulge too much (in case i do actually write this some day). i image writing it from ian's POV so he and the reader start off with the same questions you do: where's mickey and what is he up to?

short answer: he's doing fine. he has a job he doesn't hate and he lives in an apartment with mandy. his life isn't anything special, but it's still leagues better than it was when he was eighteen. he doesn't really date, barely even fucks, but whatever. he doesn't give a shit.

until one day mandy says that ian gallagher--and fuck if he hasn't heard that name in forever--was spotted at the Alibi last night.

and now mickey can't really stop thinking about his ex.

not that he ever could.

I just saw a post about being against Ian and Mickey as dads, and it got me thinking.

I don't love the idea of them specifically trying to have a baby. I think Mickey has so much trauma to unpack that it's just ... it's a no from me, Simon.

But I love the idea of them becoming accidental parents in a few years. Like, one night at a Gallagher dinner Liam brings a friend along to stay for a few nights because "his family's a nightmare", but there's so much fucking drama going on in that house that by the end of the night, after playing a few rounds of Mario Cart with him, Mickey's all like, "hey, you can crash on our couch for a few days" and crashing on their couch turns into them buying a second-hand bed and putting it in the spare room and a few days turns into five years.

And then a year later there's this girl who hangs out near their favourite South Side burger joint and even though she's young, she's clearly homeless but totally gives Mickey Mandy vibes. Liam's friend has moved is an adult by now, moved out and doing great, so Mickey offers her the couch. Couch turns into the spare bed, etc, etc.

And then, for a while and for whatever reason, Franny takes up permanent residence in the room for, like, six months, maybe a year. And a while after she moves out her non-binary partner isn't accepted by their parents and because they're still in high school they need a place to live, so they move in and Mickey's all like "doors stay open!" any time Franny visits.

And I just really want the whole "plenty of strays wandering around the neighbourhood. I'm sure we can pick one up for cheap" to come to fruition one day.
