YES exactly, Yuji does not react to hearing about his parents the way most children would if their parents were dead. It makes me think Yuji was never told his mother was dead, either. He probably was aware she just left, same thing with Jin. He barely remembers him and doesn't ever bring him up. I get he was raised by Wasuke, but he barely so much as thinks about Jin throughout the series, only when Junpei and Choso brought him up.
It honestly just seems like Yuji somewhat resented his parents (especially Kenjaku now, for obvious reasons) Jin definitely not as much as his mom, but it does seem like he just wanted nothing to do with either of them pre-canon.
Him just leaving Yuji honestly makes the most sense, albeit sad for Yuji. I hope it gets explained sometime soon because there's soo much we still don't know.
Mutual just brought up something in a reblog that I've been meaning to say more on for a while, but I don't think we acknowledge the fact Yuji does infact remember Jin enough. He had to have been young, like toddler aged maybe 5 at the oldest, but he does have faint memories as he says when Junpei asks about his mom.
He says he doesn't remember Kenjaku at all, so they had to have left/disappeared not too long after the scene in Yuji's dream from chapter 143. Him remembering Jin means Jin raised him alone for a few years at least before? Dying?? Disappearing??? The worst part about that is Yuji being old enough to remember him means he most likely remembers whatever happened, he just mightve been too young to really understand.
Edit: wanted to add on more as I remembered how Yuji shut down Wasuke when he tried to tell him about his parents in chapter one.
I personally don't think Jin died, he may be dead but I don't think his absence was originally due to that. That little interaction between Yuji and Wasuke reads as though Wasuke has tried to have that conversation with Yuji multiple times, yet Yuji seems to just..not wanna hear about it. Which is odd, because you'd think he would want to hear about his dead parents. But he doesn't, so I don't think Jin dying was the case.

I would really like for Sukuna to bring up Jin. Could be just a throwaway line like "you're as insignificant as your father" or whatever. Something to clue Yuuji in that something is up with his dad as well (if he hasn't already figured that out based on what Wasuke tried to tell him) and to direct his attention there. He looked incredibly shocked when Choso first mistakenly brought him up. The thing is, with Kenjaku it's relatively easy for Yuuji to just think of them as a big bad villain lurking in the background who has no personal connection to him besides genetics. He doesn't remember his mother anyway except for that brief dream he had later and there we also barely see Kenjaku or get an impression of their feelings towards him. Jin is different. Yuuji does remember him however vaguely and based on him calling Jin "tou-chan" in the original Japanese, those memories seem to be rather pleasant or unassuming. He comes off quite nice in the dream as well. So even if Yuuji doesn't like talking about him just like the rest of his family, Jin does feel a bit like a safe spot. Not on the same level as Wasuke, but at least not someone Yuuji has to concern himself with. More like a bystander to the chaos Kenjaku caused. As it turns out that's not the case though. This perceived safety might make his reaction to finding out Jin's involvement in Kenjaku's experiment or Jin's origins all the more genuine and harder to control than another mention of how Kenjaku fucked with his life. In case of Kenjaku he knows that already by now and has arranged himself with it in some way. Jin is not really on his radar yet.

I feel like this fandom tends to overexaggerate how 'slutty' Kenjaku is. Don't get me wrong, I love slutjaku! I ship them with like half of the (adult!!!) cast. But they don't have like hundreds of kids and shit. They have one canon child conceived naturally, Yuji, and that's it

Very much enjoying the idea of morally grey Jin Itadori. Gege really released so many ideas by making him the reincarnated twin of Sukuna because so many things could’ve happened between him and Kenjaku.
Did Jin know what Kenjaku was trying to do? Did Kenjaku reveal to Jin about his past self? Did Jin already know? Was Jin somewhat in on their plan to conceive Yuuji to act as a cage for Sukuna? Was this like…Jin’s form of revenge, a way to make a thorn in Sukuna’s side? Like that’s so interesting…I wanna know more.

I'm confused on why people think Yuji doesn't know about Kenjaku?? I know he's never outright acknowledged them as his mother, but he did have that dream. After that dream, he tells everyone that Choso is his older brother, so i took that as him realizing Choso was right??
With Choso telling him they're related through Kenjaku, and him learning blood manipulation, it'd be odd if he Still doesn't know. It's kinda hard to miss but I guess he is silly like that.

Jin Itadori has my respect solely because he dealt with a pregnant Kenjaku for 9 months, 9 months of most evil, vile sorcerer hormones. Must've been a NIGHTMARE
