kace went silent when confronted about why he wasn’t in his bed, cuddled up in his covers and playing fortnite. the jock sucked his cheeks in before breathing out almost scared of answering. “soccer practice.” it was one thing that he would never ditch. the male could be coughing his lugns up and pass out on the field // he’d still do his job as captain. “and as you can see i’m still alive and almost thriving thanks to your hot chocolate.” making a face hopefully that would save it all.
At the back of her mind, Sofia knew it. She knew that Kace would never give up soccer, even though he was not feeling well or on days he was tired out of his mind. She rolled her eyes at his attempts to cushion the truth, then quickly stood up and held her hands out. “Come on, we have to get you inside. I’m sure the team will understand. If they don’t...I’ll talk to them,” Sofia offered, urging him to take her hand and hoping that he would.

“a turtleneck is a fashion statement if done right.” he smiled at her when pulling the sleeves down on his white hoodie. “i have weird fashion but i must be doing something right since people pick up on it.” kace loved to also wear a hoodie over a t-shirt, only one sleeve in and the other one over his shoulder. weird but it was kace. “i have a good coat though, i have red greeley snowboard jacket from adidas. i should use it.” he snorted at himself, sometimes he wished he was back in california cause it never got this cold but he did enjoy the snow at times. “promise i’ll dig up something warm. happy?” he smiled.
Arguably so, Kace did have a good fashion sense and people around the school did tend to follow him whenever he did something new like the one sleeve in and the other hanging over his shoulder thing. She never understood it but Sofia supposed it was pretty cool-but not everyone could pull it off, however. Smiling at the compromise they seemed to have agreed on, Sofia nodded her head before laughing. “Happy,” she chorused, swatting his arm. “What are you doing out here when you’re sick anyway. Should be confined to a bed, you know,”

Sofia took the cap back ans screwed her bottle tight before scrunching up her face. Caring was not nearly as good as it sounded though because it did get her into trouble before. Instead of replying to that, however, she pulled the beanie lower over Kace’s head, making sure it covered his ears, and laughed. “A turtleneck is like a grandpa’s clothing, Kace,” Sofia teased. “A scarf would be better and really, just invest in a good coat and you’re good,”

The further Nico spoke, the darker her blush got and Sofia bit her lip to remind herself that she was in public. When the two of them made the arrangement, they had agreed to keep it low key, a secret and Sofia was going to respect that. They did have a good time in the bedroom though. “I do,” she settled on agreeing, then cleared her throat gently. “If you’re free then sure, why not, right? Only if you want to, of course,”

Nico merely snorted at Sofia’s comments. “You can have fun and not behave like that.” He said coldly, gesturing to the female who was currently all over one of his brothers but doing nothing to stop it since he seemed interested enough. “It isn’t nice of me, it’s making sure none of them get themselves arrested.” He replied simply, taking a drag of his cigarette before glancing at Sofia and smirking. “You’d know all about the fun I enjoy, wouldn’t you?”
“It’s still nice of you,” Sofia insisted, for she knew that despite his outwardly harsh demeanor, Nico was all sorts of warm. At the mention of what he did for fun though, Sofia nearly dropped the drinks she was holding and a blush crept onto her cheeks as she swiftly looked away to hide her embarrassment. “I do...yeah,” Sofia stuttered. “That doesn’t mean you should remind me of them in public though. It’s not....appropriate,”

“it’s not that good i’m more of a chai latte kind of a person. hot chocolate grows in my mouth in a bad way.” he shuddered when patting his own cheeks. “i don’t drink coffee either. no coffee, barely no hot chocolate.” kace lowered his head when laughing. he took the cover and drank it up, blinking a few times. “not bad, sofia but you’re right but do i listen? rarely. hydrated? no problem. thick sweaters? a hoodie count?”
Sofia scrunched her face up at the words Kace spoke and nudged him playfully as he drank the hot chocolate. Everyone on campus seemed to survive on coffee so she found it a little amusing that he was one of the few people who did not like it. “A hoodie doesn’t count,” Sofia replied flatly, this time rolling her eyes. “It barely does anything. Wear two hoodies...? Maybe that would work but wear one and you’d find yourself in the exact same situation as you are now,” Upon realisation of how she must have sounded, however, Sofia laughed. “I sounded like a mum, didn’t I?”

Nico merely shrugged her shoulders as he studied her for a moment, curious to know why she didn’t want to laugh. “That woman just allowed a bunch of a college males to do body shots off her, that alone should say enough.” He said coldly before pulling out another cigarette. “More like babysitting, they wanted a night out and I offered to be the sober driver, even though I don’t drink.” He said with a shrug, even though he was mainly there to make sure they did nothing to shame their group.
“Maybe she’s just looking for fun, Nico. No harm in that,” Sofia replied, attempting to keep her view neutral even though she knew what Nico meant about her actions reflecting her character. When he explained his role at the bar, Sofia smiled with pride, then winked. “That’s very nice of you. And hey, plenty of other ways to have fun and not just drinking, right?”
