I love this!
I'd say I'm primarily Rev War and 2020-2022 core group! I tend to focus most heavily on the war itself and Washington's aides and other military figures!
The AmRev fandom definitely has subgroups. I'll name a few I feel like I've seen. Are there any I missed? I'd say that the Hamilton fandom is separate since it's so big but there's definitely overlap.
• 1776: This subgroup enjoys 1776 and is focused on the politics during the war and founding fathers. 1776 is like the second evolution of Hamilton because the group members have witnessed those fandom horrors. Now the fandom horrors created by the 1776 subgroup are tastefully cringe but still historical /lh.
• Lams: "Nothing lasts forever" well Lams has been a thing since the dawn of time /j. What I mean is that this subgroup is always going strong! They are powerful.
• Rev War: Focuses on the military side of the revolution. This subgroup loves battles and generals, especially the more obscure stuff. Washington's aides are also included!
• Federal Era: This subgroup focus on politics of the 1790s to 1820s. The Democratic- Republicans rule this subgroup since Jefferson Madison and Monroe were all presidents. John Adams lurks...
• 2020-2022 core group: This subgroup used to dominate AmRev tumblr. Many are still active but usually don't focus on AmRev in posts anymore.
• TURN Washington's Spies: This subgroup enjoys TURN :) and all the little things in it (except Benedict Arnold)
Tag which subgroup(s) you're in! Feel free to add on btw! :)

Yesssssss!! I used to feel so bad because my main hyper-fixations in the revolution were Lafayette and Hamilton and then I felt so cool and mature once I became obsessed with Benjamin Rush.
So I guess now I'm still slightly insecure about Lafayette but I still have my Rush obsession that nobody else cares about hehehehe I'm not a complete basic bitch.
you know a social circle has a serious nerd epidemic if you feel insecure about hyperfixating on basic historical figures. oh hamilton! washington! jefferson! how original!
just you wait, i'm going to get into john jay and talleyrand and it'll be over for y'all.

Intro post *insert something witty here*
I realized most people have these and figured I should probably make one.
Hi. Um... I don't know what you should call me. Ig Sherlock for this blog, although I used to go by Alex.
I'm 18+ college student who feels like she's dying half the time due to exhaustion.
The American Revolution has been my primary special interest since I was about six. My favorite founders are Lafayette and Benjamin Rush.
My other historical hyper-fixations include the French Revolution (Robespierre in particular,) the Civil War, and classic rock.
Aside from AmRev, my main special interest is Sherlock Holmes. I've read and watched most versions, but my favorite Holmes adaptations are Sherlock & Co. and BBC Sherlock.
I'm also a huge fan of the television shows Outlander, Suits, Dexter, and Supernatural.

Robespierre appreciation
So in my Revolutionary history course we watched a 2 hour documentary on the French Revolution and Robespierre was actually portrayed sympathetically. He wasn't depicted as this unhinged man who was crazy from the beginning, but it instead showed his slow progression towards radicalism. It also included his dog.
I don't know why I'm sharing this but it just made me very happy so that is that.

Just trust me bro- he had black hair 😭
Is there an agreement over Saint-Just's hair color?
Sorry for my late reply, anon! The answer is no. The contemporaries never bothered to describe Saint-Just physically, and we don't have his passport to know for sure.
There is a sole reference to SJ's hair colour, from 19th century historian François Mignet, who was born after SJ's death. According to him, SJ had a "black and flat" hair, but he doesn't give us source for it I believe (would need to check, but I am 99.9% sure the source is "trust me, bro"). Needless to say, 19th century historians were big on making stuff up based on ~vibe (also look at Michelet, who is directly responsible for so many images on how SJ is perceived, including the Archangel of Death moniker.) So I wouldn't take this as any concrete proof (unless he elaborates on how he got this).
So, we can't really rely on written descriptions. What about portraits, then? SJ's hair on those differ, from light brown to dark brown (black in that unibrow portrait), but he (almost) certainly used hair powder, so it would make his hair appear lighter than it actually was.
My guess is that it couldn't be anything super unusual (like red) or else contemporaries would comment on it. So I vote for brown or châtain (light brown) but we have no idea.
