Emerald, who won the Blue Riband of the American show ring at Maddison-square [sic] Gardens, and for whom his [sic] owner received an offer of 500 guineas.
Emerald is a truly wonderful pony for her size—height about 37in. She has pace and action, which caused a remark by a judge that “her like had never been seen.” She has most perfect manners, and her intelligence is wonderful, even for a Shetland, and this is one of their most striking points.

A carnelian intaglio showing the busts of Castor and Pollux facing each other wearing their caps. Captured with a neat and precise hand this small intaglio makes up in style what it lacks in size. Orange/brown carnelian.
