To build on this: find friends that you feel comfortable sharing your work with who also write and feel comfortable sharing their work with you.

Like...yes, feedback from people in general is also valuable, but 1) someone who also writes might see something in your writing that someone who doesn't write wouldn't (to be clear: the reverse mignt also be true; both are valuable) and 2) sometimes you can learn a lot about writing in the feedback you provide to others as well.

Some of my best writing-related experiences were from the writing workshops I had to take in college for my degree in creative writing. We shared our writing with each other and critiqued it, and our writing and our writing skills came out the better for it.

One of my best friends from college (who was also a creative writing major and was even in one of the same workshops with me) and I now have a standing day of the week where we're planning on just hanging out in discord with each other, and just bounce ideas off of each other and write.

Also, for the love of all that is good, don't do what I did. Don't stop writing. I know writer's block sucks. I know adhd and anxiety and depression and burnout and all sorts of other neurodivergence and mental health issues can make this extremely difficult. I know sometimes life can get in the way--school or your day job can take everything out of you, or a family member gets sick or there's some other big life event--but writing is a type of muscle and of you don't work it out, it'll get harder and harder to use it. Even if it's just a single sentence a day, don't stop writing.

Hello! I am a young -like, under eighteen- aspiring author and I am currently writing a book. I am nervous about the whole affair and would enjoy some advice! Why, I pretend I hear you asking? It's because I'm worried that the... uh, excrement will hit the fan.

I would really appreciate tips, especially from you, cause you're a literary genius and an author, so if you have any tips- well, I'd appreciate the advice.

In other words. HOW DO I WRITE PLEASE TELL ME YOUR SECRETS!

Once you've started writing things that aren't as bad as the first things, you start letting people see them.

With Nidhogg defeated once and for all and peace finally secured for Isghard, tonight we once again put our detective hats on for the 3.3 Hildibrand quests. We'll also be completing the remaining 3.3 dungeon, Hullbreaker Isle, as well as the 3.3 Warring Triad quests (no trial, just story).

We've got a busy night tonight, folks!

First, the edge is calling us tonight as we begin the Warring Triad quests and take on Sephirot! Then, we'll be taking on the remaining 3.2 dungeon by going back to one of my favorite places in this game, The Lost City of Amdapor (Hard)! Both of these will be at min ilv (and no echo for Seph), of course!

Finally, we'll be putting on Inspector Extraordinaire hats on for the 3.2 Hildibrand quests! Here's your heads up for the next week if you want to join in on any of the min ilv goodness! Starting Tuesday, we'll be jumping into 3.3, so keep an eye out here and for Shizune Dazkar in Aether's PF if you want to join in on Sohr Khai, Final Steps of Faith, Hullbreaker Isle (Hard) or Weeping City of Mhach (with 18 people) at minimum item level!

Hey everyone! Welcome to an exciting edition of "Shizu overthinks things sometimes when she's writing."

As some of you may know, I'm working on a TMA fanfic where Martin becomes an Avatar of the Eye. And then I remembered I headcanon him as wearing glasses, and then I started wondering like...would he actually still need them as an Avatar? Or would being an Avatar for an Entity who's all about like...Seeing and Beholding mean he doesn't need his glasses anymore? (He'd still wear them for appearances sake, even if he didn't need them, it's just a question if his vision would be blurry without them or not.) I'm torn on how I feel about this so I figured I'd crowdsource it.

So I'm working on the first actual chapter of A Lovely Pair of Eyes, and I'm trying to be really mindful that while I'm sure I'll make mistakes and that's okay, I should still do my best to write the characters as being actually British. And just now, after doing all of this research into what things are like when a patient wakes up from a coma and what kinds of questions a doctor may ask them (don't worry about it I'm sure everything is fine you've listened to TMA S4 right?...) my dumb Midwestern ass just almost wrote that the doctor slapped his knees to end the conversation before standing up to leave the room.

To anyone who reads my TMA fanfictions I am so sorry I can only promise to do my best.
