It’s the little things that count, and yes, I’m referring to the accessories that complete one’s outfit. MY STYLE DIARIES: Holiday Sweater Dress

Holiday season is in full swing, and so is my obsession with all things holiday style. I always kick off the season with a little jeweled this or a little sequined that, and by mid-December, jewels, studs, and sequins (oh, my!) are all I can think about. They're everywhere, and it seems that every dress, skirt, and clutch is better than the next. Recently while scrolling around the dress selection on VAULT, I spotted this studded sweater dress by Yuka Paris and immediately knew it was holiday perfection. While I don't need any help creating curves (especially during the holiday season), I think this dress would be perfect for the girl that does. The studs emphasize (or create) an hourglass and definitely dress up a basic black sweater dress. The sweater material itself is ultra-soft and so cozy. For colder weather, I'd love pairing this sweater dress with a simple coat (in pretty much any color), but unfortunately we've had a little warm spell lately. Basic black heels, a small leather bag, and a bold red lip are all you need to finish the holiday style. Hope everyone is having a great week and an even better holiday season! xoxo

MOM TRENDS: Easy dressing ideas for the holidays for moms and kids

The holidays are here! Time to spread good cheer and good style. Of course this doesn’t mean reinventing your whole closet. To celebrate the season without blowing your budget, it’s all about working in a few holiday touches and building on what you already have.

Tip 1: Mad for plaid

If you’ve got great denim you adore—jeans, jackets, chambray shirts--simply add a touch of plaid to make your blues more festive. For boys that can mean a funky bow-tie or belt. For girls it can be a plaid skirt worn with a graphic tee and tights. Moms can jump on this trend too. Hunt for a festive plaid clutch or scarf to your favorite pair of skinnies and you are set for a merry adventure.

Tip 2: Sparkle

A little bit of shimmer and shine can make anyone feel party-ready. Last year’s little black dress looks fresh with a great statement necklace for mom. Your little girl just needs a pair of flats with rhinestones on them to make her school clothes turn into party clothes. As for the young men in your life, graphic tees embellished with silver or gold decals can be a cool way to dress for a less-formal affair.

Tip 3: Top it off

Little gents don’t have as many accessories to play with as girls. But one thing they can pull off with ease is a cool hat. Think fedora. This old-school style has never been cooler with boys. Shop for a plaid print or a flannel look—very retro. For girls, add a little bling to the hair with a fun bow or headband. Swipe a bit of conditioner onto the hair to smooth static strands and then smooth on a printed or sparkly hair accessory. Mom can join in the accessory party too. A chic wool cap can hide a bad hair day and make you look younger and hipper than ever. Have fun with accessories and prints this season. A few strategic finds can have your spirits bright and your outfit ready for the mistletoe.

My Style Diaries: Holiday Gift Guide

Well, it's December 12th, and how's your holiday shopping going? I'm pretty much finished shopping for the boyfriend (the hardest person to buy for usually), and now there's just everyone else. Great. The good part is that it's mostly girls left on my list, and girls are always easier to shop for. The bad part is that it's mostly girls left on my list, and shopping for the girls in my life ultimately leads to shopping for myself. (Sad but true.)
