Side to side, back to back, everywhere, everything pulsing in tandem, overlapping, becoming one. In less than a second, an uncountable amount of lifetimes, of memories, of knowledge flood all our harmonizing minds. For a moment, things as we know it break, and rules cease to exist in any meaningful way.

And this is what it all led up to... a few years in school striving towards a dream job that wouldn't even exist in the future she exists in, an abandoned lab in the woods, and hundreds of hours of work just for this moment. Day 27 - Threatened

Missed call after missed call and her cousin sleeping on the floor of her new place with nothing in his head and no explanation for anything, she decided to go looking herself. That woman was never far from her boy after all, so surely she had to be home by now, had to be somewhere... but something felt off about everything, and as she walked inside their home, she thought about that last call. It was answered, in technicality, but all she heard were muffled, garbled noises, and a rising static that left her ears ringing.

Their house was a mess, shattered glass strewn about the floor, picture frames ripped from where they had hung on the walls, items scattered all over, nothing was where it should be. And in the dark of what used to be a living room, legs crawled in disgusting synchronicity, and large teeth glinted from the shadows. A disembodied voice whispered in the back of her mind as she stood frozen in its presence. She wasn't going to find his mom.

Day 25 - Error

Infection. It starts slow in some, weakening their immune system and their will until it takes a firm hold. But this? This would go all too fast for anyone to do anything about it. The moment weakness was shown it took advantage, piecing deep with a barbed spike towards the ultimate goal. It would not be letting go, but little did it know that this being wouldn't be letting go of it either.

Despite the impossible, despite all reason and logic and instinct, she turned. None of it mattered anymore, not them or their crumbling universe, that they were supposed to know how to fix. Nothing. She was as good as dead, and as long as she had anything left, she'd use it to inflict just the same down onto pleading eyes and begging words.

They huddled around a battery-powered radio waiting for any news, as snow fell around them in the dead of August. He could still feel the way his stomach sank and a sick feeling rose in his throat when that last message played, and repeated until every station was silent static.
