Well, that was quite a jaw-dropping episode of Drag Race US.

Given the current situation, let's look at the queens performances throughout the competition. First, let's evaluate who has finished each episode with most total points (i.e. top of the competition). This has been shown in bright red for each S12 episode. All queens were regarded safe (3 pts) at minimum during their first episode, since there was no true 'bottom 3' placements for episodes 1 and 2. The points system employed is shown at the end of this post, which originates from YouTuber Uckey Lee. (A colour system is employed to show the position of queens at the end of each episode. Scores in yellow are the final total at elimination, where applicable.)

Jaida and Widow were on top after episode 2, after winning their lipsynchs. Pie won the maxi challenges in episodes 3 and 5, pushing her to the top in those episodes. In episode 5 she shares this with Gigi, who has been on top of the competition since episode 4. After winning three challenges, the latest being in S12x10, Jaida has joined Gigi at the top of the competition. This gives Gigi 7 episodes at the top, Pie and Jaida with 2, and Widow with 1. Gigi, Pie and Jaida are strong competitors, even if Gigi has been stalling in the last three episodes. Widow was doing very well relative to the other queens too, up until mid-way in the competition and was eliminated. That can clearly be seen in the heat map. Jan never had a bad showing and was clearly not at the bottom of the competition in the episode prior to her elimination. However, she had spent most of the season just safe.

Now let's look at trajectories for the top six queens by considering their average points per episode (PPE) scores throughout the competitive episodes.

It's well known Crystal did not have a great start to the competition due to being critiqued on her makeup and style, but she truly has gained momentum in the competition. Jaida also has, although she was consistently safe compared to low. Heidi being in the bottom two three times has hurt her average PPE a lot and is still bottom of the remaining queens. Unfortunately Jackie and Gigi have been on an overall downward trajectory since the Madonna rusical. Gigi's performance and three wins will mean her PPE will never be terrible even if she lands in the bottom two. However, will she break out of being more than just safe up until top 4? Maybe, if there's an upcoming ball/'design' challenge: she did win the last one, but I also think Jaida is a genuine threat in those challenges too. Even then, the drag family resemblance challenge was kind of a design challenge, and Gigi was just safe, and I think that'll be the last challenge of its type. The next challenge is an 'entertainment' challenge and we will probably have a song/MV challenge to reach a top 4.

I noticed on Uckey Lee's review of the latest RPDR12 episode that he's posted a 'scoreboard' for the competition so far. Just thought I'd share that here. PPE means average points gained per episode. 5 for win, 4 for high, 3 for safe, 2 for low, 1 for btm2 and 0 for being eliminated per episode. An extra point for a mini-challenge win. The first two episodes will have counted as one with Jaida and Widow getting 5 points, and Pie and Gigi getting 4 points. (I watch a lot of his RPDR content like this)

As expected, Gigi is still top of the competition. In fact, Gigi has likely spent most of the current episodes at the top. Unfortunately Heidi is at the bottom of the competition out of the remaining queens, as much as I've loved her on the show. I'll maybe compile a graph to show the progress of the queens to coincide with Ep10. Interestingly Jackie (currently still top 4) has now been low or bottom twice just like Heidi, Gigi and Crystal. Jaida has currently avoided those placements the entire competition, the only queen in S12 to do so at the moment. But at this stage, it's almost anyone's guess who makes the bottom three queens next week, although spoilers are available on YouTube if that's your cup of ☕.
