The blue hedgehog hesitated. Was he really about to do this? To go behind Robotnik's back like this? He shook his head. Robotnik had been harming him for years, this was his chance to be free! But then again, the cruel man had raised Sonik.
Sonik squeezed Shenzi's hand, and hopped through the portal. Fear nearly swallowed him whole as he realized Robotnik was gone forever. He needed Robotnik. He didn't know anything about the outside world, aside from what the man had taught him. But how much of that were true?
He knew deep down he would see the Doctor again. Robotnik never backed down, especially when it came to the hedgehog. In his own weird way, he was protective of Sonik. The Doctor always made sure Sonik took his medicine, and kept the hedgehog feeling good about the work he did.
It wasn't much, but it was something positive Sonik could remember about the Doctor.
Act 3 - CAN’T REMEMBER TO FORGET YOU 𐂂
It had been quite a few days, something around the matter of being one to two weeks at the most that were being planned out and pre-ordered so that way Shenzi could visit Sonik efficiently and effectively that way nothing wrong would happen. The snow leopard knew that she wasn’t going to leave her friend behind, and that was a solid fact- as she was determined to stop Robotnik and his heinous acts before he put any of them to use. He wanted the Chaos Emeralds. A source of power with enough raw-hide energy that could desolate the planet if so much as all seven of the miracle gems came together to grant any being that uses them unlimited power. The princess had no way of knowing how much energy was contained in these objects, but what she did know, is that they must have been similar and if not, remotely close to the Chi that flooded in and out of her veins. She could have teleported if she wanted to, but the rings on her hip were much easier and less stress-inducing for her so she wouldn’t be whipped after using her abilities to boost her. Shenzi has been sneaking glimpses here and there when she had the chance at the base that she knew the blue hedgehog was located in, and she had silently swore at the fact that it was locked tight and hard. Her only opportunity she could get in was when the Doctor leaved and when he did she’d put her plan into action- and try to get Sonik out of there and get that collar off too.
This man was just pure, unbridled evil. And she couldn’t explain and answer why he had ended up the way he did. Perhaps it wasn’t the way he had grown up, but the way he had been born. The Doctor has a sickening way of torturing young animals and using them for his needs, and she also knew that he was smart- but she could be smarter. Shenzi had waited in the shrub of the bushes and the trees, down low and out of view as she had used her teleportation rings to get her out of her kingdom and to the sight of the domain where her friend would be. Big cats were stealthy as they were quiet, and she put that to good use as her ears rotated back and forth across her head and she peeked out silently.

Tears dripped down from Sonik's cherry colored eyes, pure joy flooding his heart as he fell to the ground.
He was free, for the first time in his life. He rubbed where the collar once was, a smile taking shape on his face. It had been so long since he was collarless.
Sonik paused for a moment, looking at his friend. His orbs shrank. Go with her? The doctor would be furious beyond belief [as if he wouldn't be already], what was he to do? He stopped to really consider his options.
On one hand, he could leave with his dear friend. He would be safe, and properly cared for. No longer would he be shocked. The hedgehog would finally be able to heal from everything that Robotnik put him through.
On the other hand, he could remain with Robotnik. Robotnik was cruel at times, but the man raised him, fed him, kept a roof over his head, etc.. What if the doctor grew lonely? It could break his heart if he left..
Sonik sighed, and swifty stood up. He looked Shenzi sternly in the eyes, and grabbed her hand. "I want to return to the kingdom with you. If that's alright, of course." He spoke in a gentle tone, masking his sense of joy and excitement.

The hedgehog's ears flattened against his quills as he bit his lower lip. It was happening again. He shook it off, with a brief "It was a spiral shape, wasn't it?". In the stories he heard, that's what his eye became. He didn't want to lose himself. Not in front of Shenzi.
His vision drifted back towards the bracelet. "Ivo. Ivo Robotnik is his full name." He narrowed his eyes, keeping his attention on something, anything other than the doctor. Just hearing the name sent shivers down his spine.
He reached an unsteady hand down towards the bracelet. Would this really work? His heart pounded out of his chest, as he entered in the digits one by one.
I-V-O.
With a soft click, it was off. It slid off without much effort, as his heart seemed to speed up. It was off. Sonik let out a shaky sigh. Would this work for the one around his neck? He could only pray that it would work again. The lock was on the back of the collar, so the hedgehog would need assistance in attempting to get the tight neckband off.
Sonik hadn't been this excited for anything in years, he looked up at his friend, tears bubbling in his red orbs. The hedgehog was so full of hope, was he finally free? Could he even leave Robotnik's side?

The words that came from the leopardess made the hedgehog melt. He was so used harshness and neglect, he couldn't help but tear up when hugged. He wrapped his arms around her, with a shaky breath. It had been too long since he felt this safe in someone's arms.
He swiftly cleared his ruby-violet eyes, looking down at the bracelet. "Unfortunately no. The Doctor keeps most things hidden from me," His ears flattened a bit, as he averted his eyes. "Despite my efforts of trying to gain his trust." Sonik flipped over his wrist, revealing a small lock. "It requires a three digit code."
The hedgehog's vision drifted upwards, to look at Shenzi. "You seemed bothered earlier. Did something happen?" His head tilted to the side, in curiosity. He wondered if she had saw or heard something in her kingdom, that had begun to upset her. Or had it been him?
"You can always voice your concerns to me, no matter what it is," Sonik gave a comforting smile. "Though if you do not wish to speak of it, I will not force you."

Sonik's eyes darted towards the sound of the leopardesses voice. A small spiral had formed within his left eye, but as soon as she could notice it, the spiral was gone. He smiled for a brief moment, relieved to see a friendly face. "More or less," He spoke, messing with his quills.
"Oh, this is where Robotnik instructed I stay until further notice." A bit of insecurity struck Sonik's heart, but the hedgehog took what he could get. 'It's better than being out in the streets', he had told himself many a time.
Hopping off of the bed, he limped over towards the cell door. "How have you been? I've been under high surveillance, so visiting was practically impossible. I apologize." He rolled up his left sleeve, to reveal a bracelet. It looked almost exactly like the one around his neck. "It shocks me whenever I leave the facility." He let out a sorrowful sigh. All he had wanted to do was see his friend, he never expected Robotnik to go this far. Especially when it hadn't interfered with his plans.
Sonik looked to Shenzi, a sadness emanating from his eyes, a false smile struggling to remain on his face. "I apologize for making you worry so. Is there any way I can make it up to you?" He spoke quietly, fixing his sleeve. It hurt him knowing he had made his dear friend worry so greatly. He wanted nothing more than to see her happy.

It was cold in the hedgehogs cell. His eyes darted back and forth down the halls, only to find Robotnik was approaching. Sonik took a step back, and fixed his posture. "I will be departing momentarily," his voice echoed down the halls, as he had arrived in front of the cell door. "I expect you to be here when I return. Otherwise I will be conducting another test." Sonik could only nod. His eyes were narrowed down towards the floor, to stop himself from giving Robotnik a nasty glare.
"Yes, Doctor." He spoke, trying to keep himself levelheaded. He knew how dangerous it was to argue with the Doctor, as well as if Sonik got too upset. He had no memory of it personally, but he had heard the stories.
Robotnik walked off towards the other end of the hall, a loud slam emerging from further away. Sonik was quiet, listening to confirm he had gone. After several moments of silence, it was clear to Sonik that he was completely and utterly alone.

Sonik touched his face for a moment, realizing it was warm. Had he been blushing? He thought back to the kiss, and felt his heart pound. "It was platonic, I'm sure." He told himself. No use stressing over a little kiss.
The hedgehog walked down the hall, and into the machines room. He caught a glance of a particular robot, that made his heart sink. It was his mother. Or, what was his mother. She had been gone for a very long time.
He looked down and hastily walked past. The hedgehog grabbed some spare parts, and headed to his cell. Sonik sat down, and got to work.
"You've been busy, hm?" The mad scientist called out from behind the hedgehog. 'Oh shit.' Sonik thought to himself, panic flooding his stomach.
Sonik spun around, to face the Doctor. "I'm sorry, I should have told you-" before the hedgehog could finish his thought, Robotnik slammed his fist against the wall. "You should have stayed put." Robotnik's face contorted in anger once more, before he regained his composure. "I'm changing the password to your cell door. You aren't permitted to leave any longer."
"Yes, doctor" Sonik spoke, defeated. "You can expect another test in the morning." with a twisted grin, the doctor left the hedgehog with his slowly festering anger and fear.
With his heart still racing he threw the ring, and turned back to face the snow leopardess. β€œI’ll see you later.” He gave a warm smile, before heading through the ring.
Sonik gave a quick glance back, seconds before the portal shut. He adjusted his coat, and headed forward, to his cell. Robotnik was going to have several questions, and the hedgehog had to be prepared for what could ensue.
Shenzi wanted to laugh at Sonik’s suddenly flustered attitude, but she found herself smiling instead as he pulled away and got ready to leave. Poor boy, he probably never received a kiss on his cheek in a millennia! Probably didn’t mind being kissed by a pretty snow leopard, too. He looked as red as a strawberry, although she didn’t want to admit it out loud.
The leopardess could only give the kiss as a way of Soleanna’s gratitude for coming to visit. Shenzi saw the ring being tossed, and going from small to large as the other side of the portal revealed the lab which the girl dreaded. The smell of medicine and robotics was thick to her nose- and it all reminded her of that evil man that had tortured her friend so.
Returning a smile of her own, Shenzi waved, β€œπ™Άπš˜πš˜πšπš‹πš’πšŽ,β€œ as her grey eyes watched his figure bounce through to the other side without worry or fear.
Her hand reached out, but she flinched it back. Her body wanted to go and follow after him- a longing in her heart to not leave him alone as she saw him glance back. The two locked eyes for the last time, before the portal vanished. Leaving the leopardess all by herself with an empty cup and plate, and the smells of the still-warm food in the picture behind her. It was then that she finally let out a chuckle, and ran her fingers through her hair as she shook her head.
β€œπ™Έ πš–πšžπšœπšβ€™πšŸπšŽ πš”πš’πš•πš•πšŽπš πš‘πš’πšœ πš‘πšŽπšŠπš›πš πš πš‘πšŽπš— 𝙸 πš”πš’πšœπšœπšŽπš πš‘πš’πš–,β€œ she murmured, replaying the scene where his faces burned a bright red that sent her reeling into more fits of giggles.
Shenzi would need to find a way to get into Robotnik’s lab and unload that collar off of the hedgehog’s throat. But Sonik wouldn’t leave that man’s side, he was raised by him, after all. The Royalty’s tail slashed back and forth. About once a month or maybe two weeks give or take is when Ivo left, yes? The snow leopard would need to sneak, and she’d need to do so without both of them knowing. Perhaps then she’d get a better idea for who she was dealing with.
The girl pushed herself up off of the couch, tightening the tape around her hands, as she left to go train and exercise her body. Leaving the kitchen and empty tupparware behind her, knowing that the maids would take care of it when she got back.

His face beamed a bright red once her lips pressed against his cheek. He was completely speechless, his heart pounding out of his chest.
Once Shenzi pulled herself back, Sonik could only stare into her eyes. After a moment of silence, the hedgehog managed to speak.
"I should.. get going." He whispered, standing up. He swiftly looked away, brushing a hand against his quill. In all honesty, he didn't want to leave his friend's side. He had so many questions, more specifically about the kiss.
With his heart still racing he threw the ring, and turned back to face the snow leopardess. "I'll see you later." He gave a warm smile, before heading through the ring.
Sonik gave a quick glance back, seconds before the portal shut. He adjusted his coat, and headed forward, to his cell. Robotnik was going to have several questions, and the hedgehog had to be prepared for what could ensue.
β€œI want you to promise me that no matter what the situation is, let me handle Robotnik, no matter what’s happening to me.” He locked eyes with his friend, seriousness prominent in his voice. There was also a hint of fear. He was afraid of Robotnik, sure. But if it meant keeping his friend safe, he’d let Robotnik do just about anything.
β€œI should probably get back before Robotnik returns. He won’t be pleased if he finds I’ve gone”

She was good at playing hide and seek.
And if came no good to those when they couldn’t find a cat in the snowy mountain ranges. Her ears fell and her heart bumped in her rib cage from seeing him so broken over himself. The leopardess silently left her hand on his head. She could have offered a word of advice, but not wasn’t a good time. So she let Sonik cry. She let him release his frustration, sadness, and pent up anger through his tears that painted his fur a darker color than it was. Shenzi didn’t want to lose him either. She mattered to him greatly. And if he got hurt she’d never forgive herself.
He didn’t look pretty when he cried. The leopardess removed her hand as his body uncurled, remaining silent to allow him to accommodate himself. A comforting and small smile tugged on her lips, her eyebrows pinched upward, trying to reaaaure him through silent actions. She nodded her head at getting her to promise something, and when the blue hedgehog explained to her about Robotnik getting in the way- she was bewildered. What happened if he got hurt again? What if he died? She wasn’t one for going down without a fight, and she certainly didn’t like seeing her comrades being knocked down.
But to be told to stand down in the heat of battle, left her speechless. Shenzi’s eyes darted to the ground to think it over. Her tail swishing back and forth anxiously as her ears reared back and her nose shrugged up. The Doctor would hurt him. He’d be injured again. She didn’t understand why he protected a man as evil as him, but…
She couldn’t go against Sonik’s wishes.
With a defeated sigh that made her shoulders fall and slack, the snow leopard grinned, albeit small, as she nodded her head firmly, β€œπ™Έπš πšπš‘πšŠπš πš’πšœ πš πš‘πšŠπš 𝚒𝚘𝚞 πš πš’πšœπš‘.β€œ
At the mention of it, yes, he probably needed to be getting back to Robotnik. The man would have his head if he wasn’t back at the lab. Shenzi gently grabbed Sonik by the chin, pinching his chin with her index finger and thumb, forcing him to look at her as she patted and dried his tears. She gently swiped away the tears that clouded his vision as she then leaned forward and placed a kiss on the right cheek with gentle precision. She held there for three seconds - although it seemed longer - before she retracted herself. It was a friendly kiss, however it could have been considered otherwise.

"I'd like that a lot," He spoke in a hush. "But I worry about you getting seen. I've witnessed first hand what happens to visitors and intruders. It isn't pretty." Sonik shuddered at the mere idea of his friend going through what his parents did.
"I want to keep you safe." He curled up tighter, tears continuing to drip from his eyes. "I don't want you lose you too." Shenzi meant a lot to the hedgehog, losing her would devastate him.
Sonik slowly curled himself, to look at the snow leopardess. His eyes were red and puffy from where he was previously crying. The hedgehog mustered up the best smile he could. "Promise me something, okay?"
"I want you to promise me that no matter what the situation is, let me handle Robotnik, no matter what's happening to me." He locked eyes with his friend, seriousness prominent in his voice. There was also a hint of fear. He was afraid of Robotnik, sure. But if it meant keeping his friend safe, he'd let Robotnik do just about anything.
"I should probably get back before Robotnik returns. He won't be pleased if he finds I've gone"
He let out a hard sigh. It was all so much for the hedgehog. But if and when the time came, he knew he’d stand by Shenzi. She had been nothing but kind, andhadn’t tried to kill him!
β€œI truly do not understand why you are so pleasant to me. I’ve done nothing to deserve such kindness. Especially with nearly getting you killed.”
Shenzi allowed him to cry as she sat there and let him let his emotions flood out. Not releasing her emotions was something that had devistated her in the past, so she didn’t want Sonik to make that same mistake. The snow leopard lightly frowned at his ideology that he wouldn’t leave Robotnik’s side. That meant that the Doctor already had him hooked under his grubby fingers. Perhaps Shenzi couldn’t convince him to get away from the man, but there had to at least be a way to remove that shock collar from him. In some form of fashion or other.
She laughed heartily at his mistake, patting his back as her laugh was something along the lines of someone who had a lot to drink and was rather giggly, β€œπšˆπš˜πšžβ€™πš›πšŽ πš πšŽπš•πšŒπš˜πš–πšŽ! π™΅πš˜πš›πšπš’πšŸπšŽ πš–πšŽ πšπš˜πš› πš•πšŠπšžπšπš‘πš’πš—πš.β€œ She wiped a shred of a tear from the corner of her right eye with a chuckling sigh.
She watched as he balled himself up into a tiny basketball. Hedgehog’s were known to curl up and get small when they felt they needed to defend themselves or were anxious. The snow leopard watched as her black nose twitched curiously and she put her chin in one hand and tilted her head to the side. She blinked at him, and she then smiled warmly as she leaned back against the couch and patted his head in his basketball-state.

Tears continued to streak down his face, his lip quivering. He'd never been subjected to such kind words, and it made him feel so warm inside.
He knew he didn't deserve this. Why was she so kind? It was his fault that Shenzi nearly died!
The aroma from the chili dogs was enough to make his tail wag. It smelled beyond incredible! As it was placed before him, he took a small bite.
Memories came rushing in like a tidal wave, a smile forming on his face as he remembered everything from when he was young. Even what happened to his parents.
His smile faded, as he thought hard on Shenzi's words. He'd never be able to get away from Robotnik. Sonik had tried only to fail so many times in the past, that the Doctor had many restrictions upon the hedgehog. Enough that he felt suffocated, unable to leave Robotnik's side.
"Even if I were allowed the opportunity to leave his side, I do not believe I'd be able to." Fear rose in his stomach at the mere thought of what Robotnik would do if he attempted to leave his side once more. The hedgehog was being tracked, it was far too dangerous.
Sonik continued to eat, and drink hastily. He'd been starving. Once he was finished, he bowed his head. "Thank you, very much for this incredible meal, Doc-.. Shenzi." He stopped briefly, realizing his mistake. He quickly corrected himself, feeling embarrassed.
He sighed and curled up into a ball. He felt so conflicted. He was loyal to the Doctor, but at the exact same time, he was loyal to Shenzi. Robotnik would have Sonik's head if he knew that!
He let out a hard sigh. It was all so much for the hedgehog. But if and when the time came, he knew he'd stand by Shenzi. She had been nothing but kind, and hadn't tried to kill him!
"I truly do not understand why you are so pleasant to me. I've done nothing to deserve such kindness. Especially with nearly getting you killed."
He didn’t want to lose someone else to the doctor. Especially not Shenzi.
The hedgehog wiped his face with his sleeve, his tears soaking into it. He felt pathetic for crying in front of his friend, but he was able to calm himself down fairly easily. β€œApologies.” He let out a quick sigh before looking down. β€œIt’s probably too dangerous for me to stay much longer. I don’t want you or your people to be in danger because of me.”
Shenzi smiled warmly at Sonik in return, β€œπš†πšŽπš•πš•, πš“πšžπšœπš πš”πšŽπšŽπš™ πš’πš— πš–πš’πš—πš πšπš‘πšŠπš πš’πš πš’πšœ 𝚊 πšžπšœπšŽπšπšžπš• πš™πš˜πš πšŽπš› 𝚝𝚘 πš‘πšŠπšŸπšŽ. π™³πš˜πš—β€™πš πš•πšŽπš πšŠπš—πš’πš‹πš˜πšπš’ πšŽπš•πšœπšŽ πšπšŽπš•πš• 𝚒𝚘𝚞 πš˜πšπšπš‘πšŽπš›πš πš’πšœπšŽ. π™΄πš‚π™Ώπ™΄π™²π™Έπ™°π™»π™»πšˆ πšπš‘πšŽ π™³πš˜πšŒπšπš˜πš›.β€œ Heaven forbid that she didn’t know what else that evil man had done to brainwash the poor blue hedgehog. Having a power at all, in her eyes, was special and unique. Whatever it was- whether it be ice or fire, was a responsibility that required great strength.
The leopardess frowned at the collar and the scars and the marks that followed underneath it. They were burn marks. Ones that were permanently scratched into his fur and couldn’t be healed since they already were in an improper way. Shenzi didn’t like the Doctor. The more she learned about him from Sonik, the more she learned how cruel the world could be to someone so gentle and kind. It was a blessing that the blue hedgehog had ended up so nice when it came to be raised by Ivo. He had been lucky. The Royalty was heartbroken from those scars, her hands twitching as she felt a bit insecure.
Her paws were covered with tape for a reason. And even if she didn’t want to admit it, she had gained scars and horrible blemishes over the years from vigorous training and fighting for her kingdom. Shenzi sometimes admired these scars, other days she despised them for what they did to her body. It was a curse she was forced to live with. Her Chi could never heal that. To hear Sonik sound so sad made her relate to him. Running free was an amazing feeling. To lift your head and run with the wind behind your shoulders was incredible and invigorating. And to be cut off from it, was like being cut off from the one freedom that you loved to do.
The leopardess fell quiet from his questions, her mouth closing as her grey eyes flickered back and forth across the floor. Sonik’s iniquiry hit close to home and she heard soft sniffling. Her ears lifted and she saw he was crying. It hit her like a bullet when a thought crossed through her head. β€™π™·πšŽβ€™πšœ πš—πšŽπšŸπšŽπš› πš™πš›πš˜πš™πšŽπš›πš•πš’ πš•πš’πšŸπšŽπš πš•πš’πšπšŽ 𝚝𝚘 πšπš‘πšŽ πšπšžπš•πš•πšŽπšœπš.’ That was enough to make her relate to the hedgehog on a personal level. Shenzi never had proper friends until he had showed up. All because of him was she looking and walking the halls in a better light than before, and to see him sad reminded her of her childhood years.
That was when a grin tugged on the Royalty’s lips as her ears reared back and motherly look came across her face. She turned her back to him as she went to the kitchen to prepare his food. β€œπš‚πš˜πš—πš’πš”,β€œ she began, β€œπš’πš˜πšž πš‹πšŽπš’πš—πš πš‘πšŽπš›πšŽ πš’πšœπš—β€™πš πš™πšžπšπšπš’πš—πš πš–πš’ πš™πšŽπš˜πš™πš•πšŽ πš’πš— πšπšŠπš—πšπšŽπš›. "Well, I have the ability to run at incredible speeds. I mean it feels as though time itself slows down around me. I haven't.. been allowed to use it. Doctor says it's a worthless power," Sonik looked to his friend. "I just wanted a second opinion." He gave a warm smile.
"My collar actually tracks my speed. If I go too fast, I get a controlled shock." He pulled his collar forward, revealing shock marks. "It's been years since I was last able to run. I was nine or ten at the oldest." He gave out a sad sigh, remembering the way the breeze brushed against his quills.
"I ask because I'm worried about Doctor Robotnik finding me here. Who knows what he'd do if he found this place?" Fear was prominent in his eyes. "Who knows what he'd do to you?" Tears bubbled in the corner of his eyes out of fear and desperation. He refused to let that happen.
He didn't want to lose someone else to the doctor. Especially not Shenzi.
The hedgehog wiped his face with his sleeve, his tears soaking into it. He felt pathetic for crying in front of his friend, but he was able to calm himself down fairly easily. "Apologies." He let out a quick sigh before looking down. "It's probably too dangerous for me to stay much longer. I don't want you or your people to be in danger because of me."
He gave out a yawn as he stretched, internally curious as to how Shenzi had a chaos emerald. Sonik remembered having to fight another hedgehog for the one he currently possessed, and wondered if his friend had to go through a similar process.
Sonik remembered how he would have lost if it hadn’t been for his speed. It was a last resort situation, and it was hardly a success. Then a question popped up in his mind. β€˜Is super speed considered a useful power?’ Perhaps his friend would know.
β€œDo you think having extreme speed is a good power to possess?”
Shenzi wouldn’t let Robotnik’s grubby hands get on theΒ Chaos Emerald anytime soon, and she nodded firmly on that. The legends behind these magical stones varied. She had read about them too when her sister had given this miracle gem to her out of spite. There was something along the lines of a β€œMaster Emerald” but she wasn’t sure if that was entirely true or not. But from Sonik’s telling, she was pretty sure it must have been a fact. She placed her gem back into the pocket of her belt and sealed it up. The leopardess turned her head over her shoulder for a moment to check the timer, and it would still be a couple of minutes before everything was ready to go.
The way that Shenzi had gotten the Chaos Emerald was a deep crack in the crevice of a dark past she didn’t want to look upon. It haunted her wherever she went. And the Royalty never admitted that she had holled herself up within her castle walls and in her kingdom beyond the city for the past two years suffering a deep depression. Not fully, though. She still had to put on royal duties for her subjects, this melancholy illness had been a fight internally. And getting outside and meeting Sonik - including the push of theΒ Royal Guard to get her back on her feetΒ - had been able to make her the Shenzi she was used to being.
The question caught the leopardess off-gaurd. And she turned to look at the hedgehog, stunned. β€œπš‚πšžπš™πšŽπš› πšœπš™πšŽ-? π™Έπšβ€™πšœ πšŠπš— πš’πš—πšŒπš›πšŽπšπš’πš‹πš•πšŽ πš™πš˜πš πšŽπš› 𝚝𝚘 πš™πš˜πšœπšœπšŽπšœπšœ! "Yes! Definitely keep that away from Robotnik. It would be disastrous if he got his hands on it." He spoke, staring at the blue emerald. The way the two emeralds had begun to glow as they grew closer, was an incredible sight.
"They really are something special. With enough practice, I'm fairly certain you can use their magic abilities. I think they have teleportation-like powers. Legend has it that there's a bigger emerald. It can nullify and control these beautiful gems." Sonik narrowed his eyes. "Robotnik is trying to get his hands on that one, too."
The hedgehog looked up with a smile. "But, that's not something we need to worry about now, thankfully." He placed the emerald back within his coat, for safe keeping.
He gave out a yawn as he stretched, internally curious as to how Shenzi had a chaos emerald. Sonik remembered having to fight another hedgehog for the one he currently possessed, and wondered if his friend had to go through a similar process.
Sonik remembered how he would have lost if it hadn't been for his speed. It was a last resort situation, and it was hardly a success. Then a question popped up in his mind. 'Is super speed considered a useful power?' Perhaps his friend would know.
"Do you think having extreme speed is a good power to possess?"
β€œThe chaos emeralds are little jewels that contain insane amounts of power. There are exactly seven of them, and each of them holds a unique color. There’s red, green, blue, purple- ah you get the point.” He glanced down, pulling a red emerald from his coat.
β€œThey look like this. Beautiful, aren’t they?”
God-like meant a quality of things, but the one thing that would’ve come to Shenzi’s mind would have been: strength and unnatural speed. But, when the time did come that she’d unlock her powers, she’d be more than happy to continue to explore and delve deeper into what else could be toyed with. She dumped the chili in the pot on the stove and began to heat it up. At Sonik’s orders she gave a playful salutes with two fingers and her long, furry tail opened the fridge again.
β€œπ™²πš˜πš–πš’πš—πš πš›πš’πšπš‘πš πšžπš™!β€œ She chirped as she got to work on her order.
The dogs went on a silver platter that she slid into the oven and closed with a bump of her hip. The milk she reached and grabbed out of the refrigerator. The snow leopard then moved to grab a plastic cup, a plate and some napkins. She didn’t want to use plates and waste them away for a whole week in the dish washer. The milk went into the cup, and then the cartridge that contained it had been put away where it belonged in the cold.
Her eyes flickered up from her work in the kitchen, her hands swiping the onion off of the table and some herbs as she tossed them in the semi-bubbling pot of chili, and was caught off guard by the Chaos Emerald’s wonderful glow. Each one contained power. Probably different sorts of power in each one, but all the same nonetheless. The snow leopard realized that it looked strikingly similar to the gem that she held in her belt. In fact.. if she were to dare say it, the two of them might’ve been holding Chaos Emeralds as we speak.
While a timer was running for the food to cook, the leopardess slowly walked over to the blue hedgehog. Her pupils expanded as she got curiously close to the gem. Leaning over the couch as she did so. Her head tilted to the side curiously. Intrigued by the profound sense of calm she felt while staring into it.
β€œπšˆπšŽπšœ,β€œ she agreed breathlessly. A small smile on her lips as her ears reared back out of inquisitiveness. β€œπšˆπšŽπšœ, πš’πš—πšπšŽπšŽπš.β€œ
Shenzi went to the pocket of her belt and zipped it open. Inside was a glass orb and a blue miracle gem that she had obtained from her sister years ago. The memory’s were god-awful painful to remember, but they were hard to suck up. The leopardess wrapped her paw around the blue Chaos Emerald and took it out of her pocket. Showing it off.
β€œπšˆπš˜πšž πš–πšŽπšŠπš— πš˜πš—πšŽ 𝚘𝚏 πšπš‘πšŽπšœπšŽ, πšŒπš˜πš›πš›πšŽπšŒπš?β€œ She questioned. With the two emeralds near one another, they seemed to grow brighter in color.

That blew his mind. Chi could not only heal, but had other abilities? Sonik wondered what becoming godlike could mean, immortality? Infinite power? This was information he HAD to hide from the doctor. He would most certainly try to use it in a selfish manor, that could get innocent people hurt. It wouldn't be the first thing he's kept from Robotnik, so it was no matter.
"Milk and two chili dogs, please!" Sonik smiled, excited to being able to eat his favorite childhood meal. The hedgehog assembled his thoughts, trying to figure out how to respond. That was a damn good question. What are the chaos emeralds?
"The chaos emeralds are little jewels that contain insane amounts of power. There are exactly seven of them, and each of them holds a unique color. There's red, green, blue, purple- ah you get the point." He glanced down, pulling a red emerald from his coat.
"They look like this. Beautiful, aren't they?"
His mind wandered back to this Chi she mentioned. β€œWhat is Chi, exactly? The only other thing with magical properties I know of are the Chaos Emeralds.” The hedgehog rested his chin on his hand, deep in thought. Magic was fascinating to the hedgehog, but he knew so little about it. Things that made no sense intrigued him, Sonik loved questions and finding the answers to them.
β€œπ™°πš—πš’πšπš‘πš’πš—πš,β€œ Shenzi giggled.
She could make him whatever he wanted, drink included with no benefits or cash grabs. She nodded her head at his order and began setting to work within the kitchen. Her ears, however, remained on Sonik’s voice as she began dicing and slicing back and forth to grab what she needed. She knew she needed a hot dog, that much was clear, and she’d also need to stir up some fresh chili while she was at it. The snow leopard unhooked there fridge door with her table as she began setting things out. She moved like clockwork.
What she didn’t know, was that the blue hedgehog had parents. The leopardess expected that if he lived with the scientist then he must’ve been adopted in some way or fashion. But never this. A horrible though struck her in the head as she began her favorite pastime of cooking. Was he taken from his parents? That sent a chill down her spine. She took a moment to respond to his question as she began warming up the oven to a certain degree where she could lay some hotdogs on the middle rack to cook. There was the sweet aroma of cold chili as a can was popped open.

'Anything?' His tail began the wag at the thought. He hadn't had a proper meal since he lived with him parents!
"If it isn't too much to ask, may I have chili dogs? I used to adore them when I was younger. From what I can remember, my mother was a remarkable cook. At least in my eyes," Sonik laughed a bit. "My father didn't think as I did." It was no longer a sad thought to Sonik to remember his parents. He had fond memories of them, and he'd cherish them forever. Remembering the gruesome scene however? It always sent a chill down his spine.
His mind wandered back to this Chi she mentioned. "What is Chi, exactly? The only other thing with magical properties I know of are the Chaos Emeralds." The hedgehog rested his chin on his hand, deep in thought. Magic was fascinating to the hedgehog, but he knew so little about it. Things that made no sense intrigued him, Sonik loved questions and finding the answers to them.
β€œYou have magical properties?” The words escaped his lips without a thought. He looked back up towards the leopardess, noticing her missing mouth. Confusion overtook the hedgehog’s mind. There was a lot still left to learn about his new friend. She never ceased to amaze Sonik.
He knew deep down that despite his wounds being terminated now, new ones would bloom on him as soon as he returned to Robotnik’s side. Sadness enveloped him as he remembered how awful that man was. He really needed to get away from the Doctor.
Shenzi’s energy focused and power-healed Sonik through her Chi. Chi was like the Force- it surrounded someone that had energy around them. It could be moved and bent. It was a type of magical property that was rare and unknown to most sorcerers or power-users out there. So, indeed, it was rather fascinating to watch. And that wasn’t all the leopardess could do with Chi, either. She could do much, much more. So much that it was sometimes beyond people’s comprehension. Problem was, depending on how much she used would exhaust her body later to the point of fainting if she pushed too hard. Still- it was a work in progress and she was a pro at this point.
Once she was satisfied, the Royalty’s mouth had reappeared and the golden glow on the palms of her taped hands had vanished. Shenzi’s eyes dimmed, and once more they resumed their silver-grey color. She had heard Sonik’s question and a sheepish smile claimed her lips as she shrugged nonchalantly as though it were no big deal.

She didn’t know if he would understand what she meant, but all powers came in different shapes and forms. He’d see the unique shapes and steps that came to Chi overtime. For now, she was focused on getting him healed and better. The leopardess’ mind had completely slipped when she remembered that she was a fan of cooking also. It was a skill that she was humbly proud of, and the girl sighed as she stood up from the couch and stretched.

She wasn’t sure what the blue hedgehog liked. And she had a sneaking suspicion that Robotnik didn’t feed him the proper nutrients, either. That man was dead the minute she would see him again. This time, properly.

Sonik's eyes widened with wonder and confusion at the display before him. Questions arose in his mind, but he shook them off. 'Now isn't the time' Sonik thought. He'd notice a small shiver running down his spine at the cold feeling. It took him a moment before he realized it. Sonik's wounds were healing! Wonder filled his ruby colored eyes, as he remained as still as possible. He was amazed, to say the least.
"You have magical properties?" The words escaped his lips without a thought. He looked back up towards the leopardess, noticing her missing mouth. Confusion overtook the hedgehog's mind. There was a lot still left to learn about his new friend. She never ceased to amaze Sonik.
He knew deep down that despite his wounds being terminated now, new ones would bloom on him as soon as he returned to Robotnik's side. Sadness enveloped him as he remembered how awful that man was. He really needed to get away from the Doctor.
Sonik silently dismissed the thoughts. He would deal with the consequences when the time came. Right now, his top priority was to cheer up Shenzi. Despite their friendship being new, Sonik already cared so much about her. He’d give anything to protect her.
β€œThis place is amazing! You’re very talented at decorating! Robotnik and I were never good at that sort of thing,” He laughed softly, trying to lighten the conversation. β€œWe can only really build machines. What do you like to do?”
The thing around his-? Shenzi glanced at his neck to spot some sort of black collar. It didn’t look like much, but as she listened closely to it - her ears picking up high radio frequencies - she could faintly detect a small beeping noise. One of the two things was optional: A) It was a tracker. Or B) It was a tracker AND a shocker. She’d go for the latter on that. The snow leopard didn’t like how manipulative Robotnik was, and her heart saddened at seeing her friend upset over it. Was there a way to perhaps remove this devise and save him from being harmed?
If push came to shove, and if Robotnik showed up at her house for the hedgehog, she was so going to kick his ass. The sweet smell of victory burned in her nostrils from that thought alone. At the mention of her living room, she found a blush flaring on her cheeks. Humbled by his compliment.
β€œπšˆπš˜πšž πšπš•πšŠπšπšπšŽπš› 𝚎!β€œ She said with a chuckle, as she moved him over to the couch so he could rest.
Sonik looked like he desperately needed food. But what bugged her was all of the bruising and blood and energy that had been deprived of him. She sat down next to him first, her tail curling over her feet as a deep sigh came through her nose.
β€œπ™Ύπš‘, 𝙸 πšπš˜πš—β€™πš πš”πš—πš˜πš β€¦β€œ She murmured thoughtfully, her eyes rolling upward as she laid down her options of what she did for a living. β€œπšƒπš›πšŠπš’πš—πš’πš—πš πšŠπš—πš πšπš˜πš’πš—πš 𝚒𝚘𝚐𝚊 πš πš˜πšžπš•πš πš‹πšŽ πš˜πš—πšŽ 𝚘𝚏 πšπš‘πšŽπš–. She had forgotten to mention one particular detail, but she would get to that in just a bit.
The leopardess knew that this would be risky. Revealing herself like this was going to take a lot of guts. But if she wanted to see her friend get better, then acknowledging her power would be the right time to do so. The Royalty rolled her shoulders, licking her lips as her tongue had flicked over her lip piercing, and held her hands out in front of her. They hovered over Sonik, and she could feel her heart doing a little dance in her chest. Shenzi decided to say screw it and go along with the healing procedure.

It was then that they glowed a golden color, with whisps of flames as colorful as the sun rising from beneath and over her hand. Shenzi’s face fell slack for a minute, and it was then that her mouth vanished. Her eyes narrowed and turned a fiery gold as the healing process had begun. A peaceful wave would enter Sonik, and at first it would feel cold before the bruises and the aches and the pains that had once been in his body would melt away. It would feel like a nurturing warm blanket had wrapped around his shoulders. And that β€œblanket” feeling was her Chi coursing through his veins and working to seal the fresh wounds.
It wouldn’t cease his hunger or thirst, no, but it would help him feel much stronger than he did beforehand.

"No need to apologize, my friend." He looked around, admiring the living room. It was incredible! It had everything, he was glad Shenzi had such a comfortable establishment. Then her question hit him like a bullet. 'What happened to you back there, anyway?'
He took a deep breath, and spoke quietly. "Yeah, it's the thing around my neck. Being shocked isn't too uncommon for me." He narrowed his eyes downwards, not having the courage to look at the kind leopardess. "The collar is part of the reason I couldn't see you sooner." Sonik bit his tongue anxiously, remembering what had happened in the previous weeks. Would Robotnik find him here? What would he do if he found out Sonik left without permission?
Sonik silently dismissed the thoughts. He would deal with the consequences when the time came. Right now, his top priority was to cheer up Shenzi. Despite their friendship being new, Sonik already cared so much about her. He'd give anything to protect her.
"This place is amazing! You're very talented at decorating! Robotnik and I were never good at that sort of thing," He laughed softly, trying to lighten the conversation. "We can only really build machines. What do you like to do?"
β€œPlease, do not blame yourself. I should have created a better distraction, in all honesty.” Sonik looked off to the side, rubbing his neck. He’d never admit it, but Sonik had panicked. He had never experienced something like that, nor had he been caught before. There was no wonder as to why the test had been so brutal.
β€œPlease, do not be sad. Everything is alright.”
Yes, even if he tried to reassure her, it somewhatΒ make her feel better. Shenzi was reminded briefly that this was the same tactic she had pulled on him, out of kindness and dignity, to make him feel better. And now he was doing the same thing back. Solaris would bless him generously. The leopardess hugged him tightly. And she puckered up and blinked back tears of frustration at herself as she sighed deeply through her nose. Shenzi was frowning as he explained to her the distraction and his emotions, and she remembered the scene: how Sonik had been screaming in agony while Robotnik watched with a sickening smirk. It made her feel sick to her stomach.
But the blue hedgehog was here now. He was okay, he was fine, and he was safe in her palace walls where no one from the outside world could break in. It was her sanctuary, and she was willing and glad to give it up for the betterment of others. Including Sonik. The leopardess chuckled weakly, sniffling as she battered away the tears that had pricked the corners of her eyes.
