"Because the actor played a Romulan in ENT, my headcanon about Liam Shaw: he has Romulan blood, but his family went to Adigeon Prime to made his Human dna dominant. He died knowing nothing about this. This headcanon made me like him, because otherwise, I feel like he's just a random white men who got a dans for no reasons."

Answer #571: the only problematic stuff in the host is the lack if consent from Riker. Not sure he allow Odan to use his body this way but I may be wrong.
One last thing, it's important to watch this episode in english and to understand it. some non english country did change the script and made Beverly said she wish Odan was in a male host and she can't love them in a woman's body = if I remember, you could translate it by "it's not the human way", from a non english perspective Beverly denied the existence of human gay people.

"Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen from the newest Dune movie is such Romulan/Reman vibes."
Edit: thank you @mutiineer for letting me know the first picture was not the correct character and sending me new ones.

"While the "TOS was never woke" guys are clearly talking out of their asses, I'd argue that Star Trek as a whole is as good as it is because its original creator has been dead for most of its lifetime.
There's no quicker way to ruin a story than a rigid adherence to auteur theory. Collaboration and iteration will always give you a better end result."

"I hated that Hemmer was only written for Uhura's character development and then killed off (he is one of the coolest engineers)! But I Am There for Bruce Horak becoming the new Jeffrey Coombs in cameos."

I'm glad the "Beverly Crusher is homophobic" confession received pushback, because that's such a bad take. However, I too hate Crusher for a completely different reason. She's virulently anti-assisted suicide. Not just against it personally (which would be fine) but said she'd tie her patient (Worf) to a bed until he gave up and she got her way. I can't respect her for that and I especially can't respect a doctor for that. (And this self-righteous, my way or the highway attitude comes across clearly in Picard, which is weird because I don't even think the Picard writers intended for her to be in character in that show.)

Kind of a response to #576 but what exactly is wrong with William Shatner? Because all I've gotten from it was that he's kind of annoying but seemingly non-malicious if a bit insensitive. I watched him in Better Late than Never and he seemed pretty normal if occasionally pretentious but him and Terry Bradshaw were hilarious playing off each other because of it. Did he actually do anything or is it just because he takes himself too seriously because George Takei also takes himself entirely too seriously, but no one ever says anything about him doing it. The only thing I've ever found in posts/tags was "he's a republican" which was a weird take because no, he's not. This isn't a gotcha or anything, I've just never seen anything about him that would equate to the amount of hate so just wanting to know if I've missed something or if this is a case of "They aren't evil just annoying and that's worse". If the mod doesn't know, hopefully, a follower could answer?
I don't pay much attention to the real lives of the different series crews but the Shatner issue pretty much boils down to all this. Being kind of annoying and rude even with his co-stars, and posting some bad takes on his twitter but I think I read somewhere that it's not actually him and somebody else is paid/designated to run it? I don't remember. I definitely don't know what his political affiliations are.

"It's a pity we never met Prime Lorca. I'd be interesting to see Jason Isaacs break the typecasting and play a genuine nice Picard style paragon captain."

"It took me watching TOS three times, but now that I get it, I REALLY get it. Spock/Bones is scorching hot old man yaoi, hottest ship in all of Trek 🥵"

"When I look at Ethan Peck’s Spock (at least as he appears in SNW, not so much Disco) I’m like “yep, that’s Spock” same as with Leonard Nimoy. However when I look at Zachary Quinto’s Spock it’s not Spock to me at least not in the same way."

feel free to ignore a little personal rant but
that Duvin guy exuded pivotal character vibes from his first line when he was still offscreen, kudos to the actor.

"i hated Subspace Rhapsody. the style of songs popular in western musicals is very grating and while i appreciate that they made more than just one song for it, the songs themselves are still really fuckin annoying and their execution did nothing to salvage that. this episode would have been way better as a mishmash of various better genres (and you could have actually had some individuality that way) and i don't get why it's so beloved"
