A hot, dry summer was tough on plants and people, but it was a grand season for flower crab spiders. All of these, and many of their fancy friends, were in the back yard in early September.

a magnificent mydas fly with a torn wing. Mydas flys bear a striking resemblance to spider wasps and will even pretend to sting potential threats!! However, the mydas fly possesses no stinger.
