I'm not huge on kids or parent HCs usually but your parent headcanons were so so cute I was tearing up a bit 😭❤️
- Tressym Anon (gonna start signing since this is the second ask I've sent- hope that's alright!)
Thank you so much <3 Aaaa writing it was very fun honestly, imagining the companions being silly and their different dynamics with their kids is entertaining.
Also yes it's definitely alright! Imma add you to the anon list.
Like I think the ones who were most deprived of love would be the ones to show it the most, be tender and really affectionate with their kids like karlach, Astarion and Shadowheart. Sure it might be out of character but that's the point, being a parent changes you as a person since your life won't just belong to you anymore.
For Laezel and Minthara, i feel like they will struggle with showing affectionate, as much as they want to he the loving parent, they will leave that job to you after failing so many times. Instead they fall more on the protective and fair side, they give their kids the courtsy they'd extend to adults, they don't treat them as lesser than them or incapable, they treat them as future adults yet still keep their limitations in mind.
Wyll, and Gale fall under the "was spoiled growing up and now spoils their kids" category. At least Wyll shows some restraint, mostly his kids think he is the coolest person ever so they listen to him. Meanwhile Gale thinks his kids are the coolest people ever so he listens to them and enables them a lot, lets them spend past their monthly allowance and makes them midnight waffles.
Halsin also ends up spoiling his kids, but less of a human material way and more of an elf way if it makes sense? It's honestly hard to tell if he is even spoiling them by elf standards since they coddle their kids by default until they're 100 years old. So Halsin might just end up treating them as his precious baby children even after they grow up. Whenever they get into trouble they go to him because they know he will take their side and minimize their faults to you, saying they're just kids not above their 50 years of age so go easy on them.
Bonus Durge, they would completely spoil their kids but also take them on their "job" and just carry around a newborn in those chest straps and a toddler on a leash as they go on a murder spree.
"Timmie, stop playing with the guy's dismembered arm. It's not hygienic. We don't know where it's been!" Durge turns back to face the guy they've been preferoming a vivisection on, "ah no offence to you of course, you know kids- TIMMIE I SWEAR TO BHAAL PUT THAT OUT OF YOUR MOUTH, WE ONLY CANNABLISE DISINFECTED MEAT."
Grandpa Sarevok and papa bhaal babysit maybe

Sending this all in one ask even though it's technically four different things, hope that's alright-
1. Ik it's small and just in the tags but the Sol response for the soulmates post is so 💞
2. I really liked the writing in your Yurgir post, just thought it was really neat and I liked your wordings (I could not come up with a better way to word this, though- my bad). Let him protect Tav!! Even though he's also completely wrecking them <3
3. I agree really hard on the backgrounds giving dialog options. It really feels like it should be a thing- I think maybe all background affects dialog wise, is whether or not your character gets the Baldurian tag..? But that might just be a race thing (in which you'd either get Baldurian or Underdark. Or... Nothing for githyanki? Unless they have the Planar tag? Idk)
I may not be able to have the option in game, but in my mind's eye my noble Tav introduced themselves proudly with their full name, and Astarion immediately poked fun at them for how much of a mess their family is known to be. Them most likely recognizing Wyll as the Ravengard son and assuming he'd know of them as well but he straight up doesn't. Beautiful stuff

Thank you for taking the time to write this! Love hearing your thoughts <3
1 - You read it!! I didn't think anyone would notice, I'm so happy. I really want to add them to the several characters mini-lists I make but I always hesitate because since the post will leave my blog tags, I don't want it to feel like I'm forcing my OC into the fandom main media?
So I just leave it in the tags for my readers to hopefully find, since only you guys know about Sol and will see the OG post while most people will see reblogs of reblogs without my tags.
It's like, while Halsin embraces fate and has faith in it, Sol and Minthara do not. They realise how incredibly lucky they are to have met you. Sol condems fate for being so pitiful, how easily they'd have never met you and just spent their life hiding their true self and following their family.
While Minthara fears fate, she knows she would've killed you under any other circumstances. She dreads the idea of never waking up from her brainwashing, be it from Lolth or the Absolute.
2 - I'm glad to hear you liked it! I can't stress how I will never get tired of hearing this or how these comments never get redundant to me. Honestly, I'm having a really bad day rn but still pushed out a fic bc I felt like it's been a while, it makes me feel appreciated when people tell me they liked anything about my works. So thank you again from the deepest of my heart.
3- omfg, the Astarion idea is gold. He would totally have gossip on most noble families since he spent so much time in the upper city. You'd be announce yourself and titles so proudly and he'd be like "didn't your cousin runaway with that barmaid and leave his wife and three kids behind?"
Or playful banter with Wyll since he came from nobility originally, the two of your characters could've seen each other as kids or something before the whole Mizora thing and he'd be like "wait...I remember you! You're that kid who stole my piece of cake during my birthday party"
Also imagine insulting Gortash during his coronation with a noble background, basically calling hime fake nobility and how he doesn't know the first thing about rulling or etiquette.
Maybe when you come back to the city, you already have an account made in the bank and don't need to start another? Maybe you get pickpocketed quite often because you "look rich" and if you sleep at any camp besides the elfsong tavern, you remain restless and don't heal to full.
Being an obnoxious noble sounds way too fun. A spoiled rich person who has to trudge around in the mud in the underdark and complain about their silk clothes getting absolutely ruined while the party snicker behind you.
Imagine teaching Lae'zel and Shadowheart how to slow dance <3 or taking Karlach to a very fancy restaurant reservation during her date in act 3!

If you sleep with Mizora, Shadowheart actually implies that "getting to know each other" was encouraged, though you'd have to look at the dialog for yourself to decide what exactly you think she means by that lol
It *is* a bit contradictory with some of her other dialog (at least it being encouraged is), but then again every other thing with Sharran dogma is contradictory </3
-Tressym anon
Honestly even Shar herself seems full of contradictions at times. Can't imagine the amount of mixed messages her followers keep getting
The whole "no self-pleasure" allowed but also "encouraged to sleep with each other" omfg.
While Astarion is deliberately lying during the Mizora confrontation and reverting back to his people pleasing tactics, I can't tell if Shadowheart is too.

I just got done reading the Sol and companions posts, I liked it a lot! Makes me happy seeing in-depth OC lore and relationships <3
I don't have much to say right now but I just wanted to say I love Sol and the way you write about them
-Tressym anon
That is literally the highest of praise omfg you like the character I invented? The traits I picked? My unlovable fireball??? Thank you so much <333 it makes me so happy.
I really like Sol and writing about them, I wanna do an x reader fic on of those days. Hearing other people's opinions on them and their kind words encourages me to talk more about them and get over the "what if this is cringe" Feeling.
Fuck yeah imma embrace the cringe <33 they're just a little guy in situations and I will continue putting my lil guy in situations.

I saw some discussion in another ask about whether Durge becoming a god would remain the same person, and I felt like sharing some stuff I read which I found really interesting- about ascending to godhood and "mortal" partners specifically.
Becoming a god, you are aware of everything going on in your domain, you can always hear and process the prayers of your faithful. The lack of need to continue indulging in food, sleep, etc, make it hard to still appreciate those things like one once did. And by comparison to just your baseline existence, it's underwhelming in the first place- again, constant prayers, higher power, higher understanding. In the end the person described it like having a pet, essentially. You love your pets and your pets love you, undoubtedly, but there are a lot of things you cannot share with them, because they wouldn't understand it or be able to appreciate it like you do. Just the edge of a god's consciousness, knowledge, awareness, would probably be intensely underwhelming to a mortal. A god wouldn't truly be able to meaningfully explain their existence to a mortal, etc.
Also the thing of immortality itself and how it seems to affect people's perception pretty directly, like elven lifespans do. You can become pretty detached to the concept of time compared to mortals or others who have shorter lives. What's a few decades translating an ancient language, when you've got eternity to do whatever you like?
I feel like those differences would be a non-issue, or even enticing to some (i mean. i think some people would be okay with the "pet of a god" position.) but it's certainly not for everyone. And what if you, as a god, do an oopsie and forget to dote on your mortal lover for a few years, because they aren't in your plane, and you had to attend to your faithful, or other manners of godly business?
I've wanted to ramble on about this for ages, hopefully this is alright lol. It's been swimming around in my brain, I just find the psyche changes so interesting. Good food!!
-Tressym Anon
Good food indeed
Side note: does that mean elves are the most spoiled pets ever with their owner gods forming an entire pantheon just for their precious little pointy eared guys? While humans are akin to a stray racoons dumpster-diving and scrounging for scrabs because no god would ever take them? Is that what Corellon doesn't want his precious pets to associate with humanity and their rabies?
Anyway someone should call animal control on Lolth. There's probably a huge poster on the gods' meeting room door reminding everyone to not feed the wild racoons outside their homes and don't even attempt to domesticate them, Mystra looks the other each time she passes by it.
But yeah, this is a very well written explanation of what it would've felt like to be a god. No wonder Durge is going to change beyond compression, even ascended Astarion would just seem like an exotic pet to him, like how some people keep tarantulas.
But one thing tho, I think their views on mortals are even lesser that of a pet.
If Mystra, a good leaning neutral god wanted her favourite pet to kill himself just for her forgiveness, it's wild to think what the evil aligned gods would require of you.
Maybe ants? Dolls? I mean you also don't fuck your pets so it is confusing a bit. Gods both can be attracted to us but also act as if we're more worthless than dust.
Some gods gamble with mortal souls, others keep mortal friends and walks in their mortal form a lot. It's like a 2D person being asked to imagine the third dimension, something that looks very simple and makes sense to us could be utter nonsense and impossible to even comprehend to them.
Dolls might be the best description honestly, sentient dolls. I'd imagine playing town management games to be the closest experience to being a god, years can pass like seconds to you but you also can slow down time to experience it minute by minute.
You see the people that you guide and order around and you acknowledge them as people but they all seem so small from high above, their efforts so meaningless in the grand scheme of things.
But you can get down on their level, maybe even have a small chat to them one to one, flirt a bit or sleep around. Then vanish back up when another task needs to be done as they get reduced to another number in your count of followers.
And here I was debating writing a god Gale au with a reader who ends up going back to him after ascending Astarion and regreting it, thinking a god surely is more responsible and respectful of them than a legit vampire lord.
It is funny to think that Gale has the potential to become the most toxic out of all of them, I mean we have all saw Bhaal's punishment for Durge if they fail to become his slayer, what he would reduce his favourite child to.
The line between good and evil must be very blurry when you're sitting up high. Or maybe mortality straight up just doesn't exist, it's action and reaction instead.
