"From Animash to AMVs: A Journey of Video Editing and Passion"

At the age of 12 in 2014, I stumbled upon a fanmade video on YouTube titled "Animash You'll be in my heart" by Stitchfan08. The video was a beautiful compilation of scenes from Disney and Warner Bros cartoons set to the song by Phil Collins. I was mesmerized and watched it repeatedly, sometimes putting it on loop because I couldn't get enough of it. This sparked my interest in video making and editing.

In 2017, at the age of 15, I began my journey into video making by downloading an app called VivaVideo on my tablet. I started recording myself singing with the song "Something Special" from the Disney series "Elena of Avalor". However, I was too embarrassed to show it to anyone and uploaded it to my YouTube channel called "Taiga Aisaka", named after an anime character. Unfortunately, I didn't receive any likes or comments on my video.

Disappointed, I stopped editing for a year. But in 2020, at the age of 18, I remembered the Animash music video that had inspired me years ago. I started searching for Mickey and Minnie videos on YouTube and downloaded clips to create my own music video. I downloaded an app called Power director and began putting the clips together, adding the song "Love Story" by Taylor Swift. I was thrilled with the result and uploaded it to my new YouTube channel, ‘’Yakkywakkydoty Cartoon AMV’. it was a really weird channel name.  To my surprise, it received 23k views and my channel gained 100 subscribers.

Encouraged by my success, I continued making more cartoon music videos in 2020-2021. It was during this time that I started watching an anime series called "Owari no Seraph" and fell in love with the characters Mika and Yuu. I searched for an AMV of them on YouTube and came across an editor named xShadeLynn. Her video was breathtaking, with all kinds of effects and emotions set to the song "Faraway" by Nickelback. I watched it over and over, along with her other videos, and was inspired to start making my own AMVs.

I changed my channel name to ‘’YWDCA-CMV’’ and started making AMVs using the app CapCut. My first anime music video was a mix using the song "Angel with a Shotgun" by The Cab, featuring scenes from "Owari no Seraph", "Hunter x Hunter", and "Charlotte''. It wasn't perfect, but I kept practicing and improving my editing skills. I made more AMVs, including mixes and single anime AMVs.

One day, I discovered MEPs (Multiple Editor Projects) on YouTube and was fascinated by the concept. I watched the first MEP I saw, "Everybody Talks MEP" by Mad Desires Studio, over and over again. I started participating in MEPs and auditioning for studios, but it wasn't easy. Some editors and studio leaders were looking for a specific editing style, and I didn't always fit the bill. But I kept practicing and improving, receiving feedback from other editors to help me grow.

Eventually, I auditioned for a small studio that didn't judge my editing style and was accepted. I started participating in more MEPs and auditioning for other studios, like Yume Sekai, Our Season,  Yaoi Vision Studio ect. I received feedbacks on my MEP parts that needs improving so i kept improving. My YouTube channel was now called ‘’Mikai AMVs’’, and I gained more views, likes, and 929 subscribers. and i was really happy to edit alongside other inspiring amv editors.

In conclusion, it was the Animash music video by Stitchfan08 that sparked my interest in video making and editing. From there, I discovered AMVs, MEPs, and the anime editing community. It hasn't always been easy, but I've continued to practice and improve my editing skills, receiving feedback from other editors along the way. I'm grateful for the inspiration that led me on this journey and excited to see where it takes me next.

What drew you to Collin?

Hello! I just kind of woke up so honestly, I’m a little groggy lmao but this is a super nice ask!

I truthfully never watched Helluva boss. I maybe watched the first two episodes tbh and that’s about it. But; from my scrolling and my morbid curiosity I actually decided to watch a few clips a year or two ago on Helluva Boss and initially Collin was among these clips. From what I’ve heard, Cherub was never introduced again after the second episode of the first season I think is where Collin is based from. (Rest in shit Collin I’ll miss your character development)

But; from what I could gather, Collin is a LOT like me. Socially awkward. Afraid to stand up for himself, people pleaser. Yet; he still tries to do the right thing in which he believes in himself. And I relate to that because of my own issues I’ve had in the past that had made me a people pleaser. And; like me; I always believe to do the right thing. It’s funny how Collin is a Angel but IRL I’m a pagan ^^. I just imagine Collin and myself being cool with each others gods and just learning about one another from our different religions.

Anyway; I initially drew to Collin because he’s relatable. Sometimes people just need a character that they can see in themselves. Collin had been there for me for a while in terms of thinking about him. It’s like… apart of me is inside of him and I want to resonate that part of me with him around me. In my own little world. Collin reminds me to do the right thing and to start to stand up for myself. To allow myself to be me. And to let me be emotionally vulnerable. This is a character like Simba who is a emotional comfort character. They both are fluffy and kind and stand for what’s right and I abide by that.

Just imagine the Collins learning of selfcest

They would be absolutely so curious!! I would just imagine them being all hand holdy and just like nervous to kiss themselves at first, but just Mika in the background cheering them on and to try it. What is the difference between casted and cherub Collin?

Very good question! So! Mika and Cherub Collin is our ‘canon’ timeline for them being together. Collin is still in good graces with heaven, still has his job as C.H.E.R.U.B. And generally acts like how he did in the second episode. Nervous, timid, socially awkward but still trying his best. Although, Collin is still very abused by his coworkers and has a very difficult time standing up for himself and usually has to have Mika stand up for him in his place. Mika usually wouldn’t be confronting either but, if it’s someone they care about, they’ll do it in a heartbeat and essentially has to try and teach Collin how to have boundaries.

Now, Casted Collin on the other hand, is doing a little bit better off. Since he got dropped off and cut off from Heaven and has his halo shattered because of his ‘dismissal’ from what happened at the end of episode two, Collin is abandoned in Hell along with the other two angels that he was with. Collin knows that now that he’s cut off from heaven, he doesn’t have anything anymore, so, he cuts himself off from the other two for a while to figure things out on his own, and in this timeline, Mika is the one that saves HIM from where he was supposed to be punished at by summoning him to not be lonely anymore essentially. A fallen Angel. Here’s, Collin is hard to trust others, he stands up for himself a little better, and has more or less a say in how he feels but, that’s only if he trusts the person that he is around which it took Mika a while to actually get him out of his shell.

I just wonder what the perfect number of Collins would be?

AAAAAA I’m thinking three for all I can imagine as far as AU goes for right now since I’m not sure what kinds of AU’s are out there. What if there were multiple Collins?

OH GOSH I COULDN’T EVEN IMAGINE HOW CONFUSED HE WOULD BE.

I interpreted this as multiple AU Collin’s and I’m all for it. All I can imagine is Cherub Collin, Casted Out!Collin and Hellborn Collin tbh in the same room as the club which is how I could see this happening. Mika’s One desire and need for those he loves only for them to end up summoning ‘replicants’ of their boyfriend from Heaven and end up just making things even more complicated because my ‘Canon Collin x Mika’ is the Cherub Collin and how he saved their life from a terrible fate he would’ve brought upon themselves.

If I had to describe sex with Collin, it would be tender. Passionate. Loving. Collin may not be the most experienced individual when it comes to having sex, but when he’s into it, he’s into it.
