19 days Timeline - He Tian's departure

Ok so, lately I've had a few people asking me about when does HT come back after leaving, and why is everyone assuming he goes away for years, so I'm making this post to explain the time-line for anyone who's confused about it.

First of all, 19 Days is mainly told through 2 timelines. The first one (1) is the present, when the boys are in college. The second one (2) where most of the story takes place, is in the past, when the boys are in middle school.

The story starts in time-line 1, with Zhang Zheng Xi talking about how Jian Yi used to be with him all the time, disappeared in high school and then came back, (remember, high school and middle school work differently in different countries) then he starts to think about the time before all of that happened, during middle school (timeline 2). So the main story in 19 Days is actually a flashback, where Zzx of time-line one is thinking about time-line 2.

We mainly get timeline 1 during Christmas specials. And we know that timeline 1 is during college because after Jian Yi comes back, he talks about still being in high school while everyone else is in college (chapt 224), and because he talks about wanting to get into the same college as Zzx.

Now, in the same chapter (224) we see that while Zzx and Jy are having this conversation, Mo is working and He tian comes back for what is implied to be the first time. Here we see that 1 Mo and Ht haven't kept fully in contact, and 2 He tian was gone (and gone to another country on top of that)

Jumping ahead to the next Crishtmas special (chapter 271) (still in timeline 1) we get more proof that He tian has been gone for a long while:

1 - He tian doesn't know where Mo's living (so he's been away for at least as long as Mo has lived there) 2 - He quite literally says he has been gone for a long time.

So, we know He Tian only comes back after everyone is around 18 or older.

And why does everyone think he's leaving now?

We do know a little of what Ht was doing while being gone, and can get a a few hints on when he leaves because of that. In the most recent Christmas special confirms He tian was working to be able to take care of Mo.

Now, we have seen he tian struggle to become someone strong enough to protect the people he loves for a while now, and we know he wants to do it apart from his family, but recently we have seen him come face to face with the fact he still can't do that yet (chapter 406). So he is finally at a point where his mentality is "I can't do anything without my family, so I need to grow my own legs" aka, start his own business to support little Mo.

On top of that, currently He Cheng is chasing He tian so he can transfer schools (the boys are on the last year of middle school, about to go to high school) (we've seen Zzx and Jy talk about wich high school they want to go).

And we know He tian getting transferred has something to do with his father and the family business (chapter 348, timeline 2)

Wich means 1 He tian will be more involved with his family after the transfer, and 2 He tian will gain more power/influence because of that.

So if there ever was a time for He tian to dissappear, get his own business and stand on his own two legs, it's now.

So the status of the characters are:

Timeline 1

Zzx - College. JY- High school trying for college. Mgs - Working. Ht - Working/coming back to China.

Timeline 2

Zzx- middle school about to go to high school. Jy -middle school about to dissappear. Mgs - middle school about to go to high school. Ht - middle school about to be transferred and disappear (family business).

TLDR: He tian goes away now and only comes back during college years. Jian Yi goes away during the second day of high school and comes back during college years as well.

Since the 19 days plot has stalled for a while now and both couples are very comfortable, happy and have their little romantic moments, I have the strong feeling that we are progressing towards the High School arc. Because what could be more devastating than He Tian not keeping his promise of coming back and Jian Yi disappearing without a word just as Zhan Zheng Xi and Momo have started to accept their feelings and be openly vulnerable and romantic with their partners.

Jealousy isn’t quite what Guan Shan felt when Jian Yi returned.

When he’d gotten Zheng Xi’s text — a mere ‘Jian Yi’s back.’, as if Zheng Xi wasn’t rendered half-mute when Guan Shan called him immediately afterward — the feeling had started deep in Guan Shan’s chest, clawing outwards as if rediscovering the world after a period of dormancy. It didn’t hurt, but it took hold of something he forgot existed within him, rattling it back to life despite him believing it was dead.

To his defense, it had spent seven years in the grave. Guan Shan had thrown a fistful of soil atop its polished casket — then another, and another, until it was secured six feet under and he could stand on top of the mound and press his shoe prints into the wet earth and pretend like that meant he’d overcome it. Like he’d gotten the last word.

“I don’t know what I should do,” Zheng Xi had said on the phone, his voice strange. Guan Shan couldn’t tell if he was crying or angry or both. “I don’t know if I’ll let him inside next time. It was a mess. He was so—”

There was a long pause.

“Did you fight?” Guan Shan asked.

Another pause. “No. We didn’t… yell. But he was upset that I was upset that he’s just appeared and I— I didn’t know what to tell him.” He sighed, and Guan Shan could see him with his head in a hand, staring at the floor. “I told him to leave, and he did.”

Guan Shan knew Zheng Xi well enough to recognize that any advice at that moment would fall on deaf ears. The first year of Jian Yi’s disappearance had a violent impact on Zheng Xi, and Guan Shan quickly learned that quiet company was the best medicine. If and when Zheng Xi wanted to talk, Guan Shan would be there. So he said, “I can catch the train.”

Zheng Xi hesitated. “It’s late.”

“I can be there in an hour.”

After a long moment: “Okay.”

They hung up and, pulling on his shoes, Guan Shan ignored the tremble of his hands. He thought of He Tian for the first time in months.

He wondered if it was possible for jealousy to feel like a ghost standing in the corner of the room.

Random 19days head cannons bc it’s felt so long since an update and I’m bored and figure other ppl might want something to consume:

I feel like Momo resembles his father the most, but gets his fairness, eyes, hair color (obviously) from mama Mo.

And the opposite for the He brothers, I like to think they only got their Height & jaw structure from their father, but their silky hair, nose eyes lashes and lips from their mother who was probably gorgeous.

Xixi’s sister notices the change in him when Jian Yi disappears and puts two and two together

Jian Yi’s mom always knew about her son and Zheng Xi bc from an outsiders perspective it’s so totally obvious (lol)

Jian Yi & Xixi are a switch couple in a 50/50 way, Tian & mo are more like 20/80.

Momo only wants to experience penetrating Tian because of how good He Tian makes it sound when penetrating mo LOL

Mo never came out to buzzcut because there was no need to, but once in highschool Mo mentioned he tian and buzcut was just casually like “that dude you dated a couple years ago”?

He Tian modeled for one summer in another country to prove to his brother he could become rich without his help and it was working until He Tian realized he didn’t want to be in the spotlight

He Tian entrusted two of his lackeys he trusted the most to take pictures of Mo Gaun Shan and bring them to him while they were separated

Mo is one of those slender dudes with tiny waists and slender ribcages but is this really a head-cannon? We’ve seen Mo’s waist.

Jian Yi runs a popular Instagram account where he posts aesthetic photos of him and Xixi being couple and romantic (holding hands, cuddling, etc) all while censoring their faces ofc

He tian gives Jian Yi a hard time about the IG page only because Mo doesn’t allow him to make one of their own

They go on double dates and have couples game nights all the time where they all drink and play a game, and ofc He Tian & Jian Yi are the ones that get super competitive and loud. Mo only gets loud to tell tian to stfu, Xixi just sits in silence waiting for his turn.

He Tian never likes taking Mo to certain areas of the city where gay men are known to be because surprise surprise; Momo is a catch to other gay men and He Tian can see it and hates being jealous.

Same with Xixi except everywhere because Jian Yi is just so pretty.

He Tian leaving on self-protection, after Jian Yi's disappearance, makes Mo scared enough to make a move. They stumble into something together just as He Tian leaves the country, and they have to figure things out long-distance while waiting for He Tian to come back.

Mo's known the gist of it since the dawn of his puberty. Water's wet, sky is blue, Mo's sexual desires are intertwined with his complicated feelings for He Tian. Big deal.

But the reality of it is- something else. This is something else entirely.

How the fuck does He Tian just say those things? Doesn't he feel embarrassed? Mo thinks he's feeling embarrassed for him, and he didn't even write it. He stares at the words until his phone light goes out, and then he turns it on again and stares some more.

Note: an amazing reunion au. I think author did a great job at handling tianshan's long-distance relationship and all of that mafia stuff. I think this fic has to be In everyone's "to read" list👌

It’s no longer about what He Tian thinks; it’s about what he knows. And he knows Guan Shan — at least on a foundational level — and he knows how Guan Shan doesn’t just ask when he needs. He knows how Guan Shan doesn’t talk but doesn’t listen, either. He knows that Guan Shan doesn’t always think rationally but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t think, and he knows how his body goes on autopilot before his thoughts cause him to malfunction and crash and burn.

He knows.

After all, it's the little things that add up. He Tian can only pray that they won't come crashing back down.

(or: no matter how hard he may try, guan shan can't hide all his problems. fluff ensues.)

Note: a soft and cute tianshan oneshot, with a little bit of angst but it's mostly fluff. I loved the ending, it melted my heart and brought smile to my lips🫠❤

But then again, what did he really suppose would happen if he told He Tian he “liked” him? Well, the world would end, for one. That was just a given. But beyond that, they’d probably just make out. There was really no chance of He Tian shooting him down or saying this was all just some long con.

Despite that. He just couldn’t.

Note: I think by summary everyone can get a brief foresight that what this fic is about. In my opinion, this fic is very real and in character.
