It's been a while and I feel like I might blow up if I don't say something but #byebyemodi is trending on twitter
And I can't help but feel like it's time our generation made some sort of organized political effort to make an impact on the future of India. Until now (as stupid as that may sound) I felt a bit hopeless regarding the direction our country was headed in. Everyone around me was either content with the current government, indifferent to politics or a nationalist right winger. But now people are publicly making a stance. And to add to that I saw a pride flag out in the wild today. And it...felt nice. It felt good. I found my self smiling like an idiot.
But emotional points aside, I am making this post to see if there are actually people out there who care. I always felt like politics in India was some kind of immovable object. Something I or anyone else could not impact. But the 2020 US election proved otherwise. It showed to me (I don't know about others) that organised effort with consistent and careful planning can make a difference. Of course I am aware of the night and day difference between American politics and Indian politics. For starters parliamentary system and the sheer scale of the Indian voter base makes it a nightmare to organise. Then there is the large conservative voter block that will back bjp.
So this is not a post to start a revolution or anything. I am not narcissistic enough to believe I could make a difference. But rather this is a post ment to see if I can find atleast some people who agree with me.
If you think that India should elect a liberal government and undergo significant changes interact with this post. Like it, reblog it or comment. Whatever works. If you think it's time for the current government to go (that is if you think we should elect a different government in the coming election) then interact with this post.
I realised rather suddenly that this year I turn 18. And so will so many other. We aren't kids stuck complaining about a government that's actively making India worse. We are a voter block now. A small one by electoral standards. But we are a growing majority. And I want to know if change is possible.
