DUSTVERSE - CHAPTER 1

The battlefield was a raging torrent of water and Dust was drowning. A reality-tearing ripping noise had completely shredded through the air, giving everything a static-like buzz that threatened to choke out any who were out among it.

No one had expected Nightmare’s magic seals to be able to be broken– least of all by his brother, Dream.

But things never really went to plan, huh?

--- OG Dust Sans, upon having his SOUL fragmented when getting attacked mid-shorcut, must now go through all of his alternate selves' universes in order to gather up the SOUL fragments.

However, he doesn't anticipate one key thing:

He has to accept and care about himself before he can return to the Bad Sanses.

Come on down and follow Dust as he gets tossed from AU to AU and is forced to learn that he's worth something.

( No, Dust will not have a "redemption arc" don't worry- he'll still be a murderous silly guy by the end of it. Only difference is that he'll be a murderous silly guy that knows his worth and cares about himself )

40. Original Fiction or Fanfiction, and why?

I’m not sure I have a preference honestly? I will say Dustverse has been the longest thing I’ve ever been a part of, and I would say that would lean towards me picking fan, except that so much of it was created by us that it really feels like? If not original fiction, a middle ground. I think both have their merits and I wouldn’t necessarily weigh one as any greater than the other.

42. How do you figure out your characters looks, personality, etc.

It is always a trial and error, constantly evolving thing. Even when I think I’ve got it figured out. Especially when I think I’ve got it figured out. Sometimes picking the FC informs the characterization, sometimes the concepts of the characterization won’t let me settle on a FC because none feel right. A lot of the time (a trend with my writing) it just begins with something specific, one concept or ideal or facet of the character, and spirals away from that. And -this sounds corny, probably, but- ultimately it’s not like I figure it out, it’s like it just grows. I start with a seed and let it go and sometimes I let myself influence it and sometimes I let it twist off entirely.

It’s less about deciding and more about being led around by inspirations and whatever, in the moment, feels genuine to the unique voice and drive of each character, if that makes sense?
