Continuing to snoop through things, and the key points that feel important to me art that Deviantart says
They will not use images submitted to Deviantart for AI, but they're basing their AI from an AI which sources from the open web.
"While DreamUp is based on third-party technologies (like Stable Diffusion) which have trained their models with the open web, DeviantArt does NOT and WILL NOT add images submitted on DeviantArt to these training sets, on or off the platform."
But
"DreamUp makes use of Stable Diffusion, a third-party AI model trained on image datasets gathered by LAION from across the internet."
People are choosing artists to train AI datasets, but those deviants can opt out
"Artists should be able to choose whether or not AI-images can be generated in your style. Artists who meet the criteria in our manual human review of applicants will be able to request an opt out of their username along with several desired pseudonyms linked to them be unavailable for use in DreamUp prompts."
Users using DreamUp can submit prompts based on specific artists, and those artists should be credited
"If an artist isn’t opted out, and their style is referenced in a prompt, they should be clearly credited. Full disclosure of artist references. Upon submitting to DreamUp, artists are asked if there were any specific artists referenced in the prompts. If the answer is yes, the submitter is required to tag the artist who inspired the DreamUp creation."
buuuuuut who's to say if people will actually do this, lbr.
Deviantart DID NOT CONSENT to third party AIs using content from Deviantart? Which feels like it's implying this has happened and they want to cover their rears, legally speaking, but that's conjecture, legally speaking.
And lastly,
Deviantart cannot guarantee deviations won't be used in AI generated work.
By going in and editing a deviation to opt out, (not yet available across all my work apparently???),
Tumblr media
it says, "Flag this deviation to inform third parties that you do not authorize it being included in datasets used to train machine learning or artificial intelligence models. Please note that DeviantArt cannot guarantee that it will not appear in any third party datasets. Read more"
Tumblr media
This feels like a lot of contradictions that seem to boil down to, it's entirely possible for users to source from content uploaded to Deviantart, and any other piece of art uploaded online, regardless of where it's uploaded. Deviantart has installed an option to protect deviations from being used in AI work, but they also can't promise anything. IT'S ALSO NOT AUTOMATIC, and appears that it does have to be done piece by piece.
Their TOS expands on the above, saying,
"DeviantArt expects all users accessing the Service or the Site to respect creators' choices about the acceptable use of their Content, including for Artificial Intelligence Purposes. When a DeviantArt user does not consent to third party use of their Content for Artificial Intelligence Purposes, other users of the Service and third parties accessing the Site are prohibited from using such Content (labeled as "noai" and/or "noimageai") (i) to train an artificial intelligence system, (ii) as input into any previously trained artificial intelligence system, or (iii) to make available any derivative copy unless usage of that copy is subject to conditions at least as restrictive as those set out here. Automated systems or users that fail to respect these choices will be considered to have breached these Terms.
DeviantArt provides no guarantees that "noai" or "noimageai" directives will be present each time Content is accessed, even if the creator does not consent to use of that Content for Artificial Intelligence Purposes; and absence of such directives does not imply creator consent has been granted.
Users acknowledge that by uploading Content to DeviantArt, third-parties may scrape or otherwise use their works without permission. DeviantArt provides no guarantees that third parties will not include certain Content in external data sources, or otherwise use a creator's work for Artificial Intelligence Purposes, even when such directives are present. By prohibiting such conduct, DeviantArt makes no guarantees that it will pursue each unauthorized use of the Service, and the owners of the works are responsible for policing their own works to the extent permitted by law."
[x] [x] [x] [x]
Deactivating your Deviantart supposedly also deletes all your Deviations.
Tumblr media
How long Deviantart servers hold onto work is not something I can find in their TOS. They're also asking for respect to artists in terms of being able to opt out of their work being used in AI art. The terms are soft, and there is zero promise. Regardless, Deviantart is still jumping on, validating, cosigning, etc the AI art (theft) train.
Do with that what you will.

Hey, this is Roo aka @theimaginesyouneveraskedfor aka @darkficsyouneveraskedfor! I am starting this blog as a repository for dark writing inspiration for my fellow writers. This blog will be open to any and all fandoms and is to be a resource for writers all over Tumblr.
And if you write a dark work based on any of the prompts found on here, I would be happy to read and share it here as well! So don’t shy away from sending a link if you have a piece you’re particularly proud of. I only ask that you include appropriate warnings on your fics.
Prompts and aesthetics/moodboards will be created for the purpose of this blog for yours truly but I will also be accepting any and all submissions people would like to offer. This is merely a host for said ideas and prompts and full credit will be given to all those who submit their work!
Guidelines are as follows and I hope to get this up and running ASAP!
Submission Guidelines
Prompts:
All you have to do is send an ask including your prompt. These can be either dialogue prompts (“I’ve been watching you…”) or situational prompts (“Lost in a maze with another in pursuit.”) I’m keeping prompts pretty basic to allow for more creators to use them.
All prompts will be credited to submitters.
Fics:
All fics will have to be posted on your own blog first and you can submit a link to the fic and it will be reblogged.Include any prompts from this tumblr which have been used in the fic as well (links are appreciated)
Again, full credit will be given to all authors.
There is no minimum or maximum length for fics. Please try to include NSFW warnings and any other warnings which may apply to your prompts/fics.
Thank you.
Aesthetics:
If you would like to submit a moodboard/aesthetic, you can do so as well. To avoid being flagged however, I will not being including those with explicit images (nudity or sexual acts).
And, as with everything else, credit will be given.
Posting Schedule:
Sunday: Dialogue Prompt
Monday: Situational Prompts
Tuesday: Aesthetic/Moodboard
Wednesday: Dialogue Prompt
Thursday: Situational Prompt
Friday: Aesthetic/Moodboard
Saturday: Random
Any submitted fics will be posted as they are submitted and spaced out by at least a couple of hours in the queue to keep from flooding the blog.
Thanks to anyone who follows and I can’t wait to get started!

This blog is intended to serve as a repository for Ds9 fanfic ideas that are unlikely to end up written or otherwise realized by their creators. All ideas posted here are free for use.
Guide on submissions, their use, and tagging below the cut.
Submissions: Be as vague or specific as you’d like, and submit as many ideas as you would like, but please keep it to one idea per post. You may include links to music, pics, etc if you think that will help convey your vision better. Because these may be reblogged and people aren't known to read URLs, please include some indication that this is a fic idea, otherwise the words 'fic idea:' will be tacked onto the beginning of your post. All ideas submitted will have an @ to your blog added onto the end unless otherwise requested.
Please understand that once something is posted, you lose control over it. It can be deleted if requested, but others may have already seen and co-opted it. They may change, omit, or add aspects that you do not agree with while using your idea.
Remember: If you’ve submitted an idea, it’s still yours to use!
If using an idea: Please credit the original concept creator in your writing! Otherwise, stick to or deviate as you like from prompts. Also (this is not required) if you’ve been inspired, feel free to tag this blog in fic/art posts or reblog with a link to your fic/art from the original post. This blog will reblog those posts.
Tagging: All characters, obvious pairings, and major triggers will be tagged for. If not provided by the submitter, they will be added. If there’s anything specific (such as triggers) you would like tagged for, please request it in an ask.

How this Blog Works
Okay everyone, starting from the top? This blog is not about what’s canon. This blog will never be about what’s canon. Yes, it may touch on canon points, might even come very close to seeming canon to the readers in places, but anything here is someone’s headcanon. That means that if it does not line up with whatever you view as canon, that’s just fine because that’s not what this blog is for.
See?
Headcanons posted here might be contradictory to one another. They might encompass views that highlight certain things that one person believes and another does not. They might touch on things that you disagree with, and that, too, is just fine.
Please be respectful.
The purpose of this blog is two things. Firstly, it’s for the creator to consolidate all amassed headcanons of her own to one place. Secondly, it’s to make a place where people can take inspiration for their own characters and possibly use headcanons on the blog for their own purposes.
This means that if you don’t like other people having the same headcanons as you, you should probably not submit any of them here.
How to get your headcanon posted here!
This, friends, is ridiculously simple. Submit it to the blog. There are multiple ways to do this, and one of them is to simply use the submit option and do it that way.
Another way, if you have a post you only want reblogged here but have linked to your blog is to contact the keeper of this blog and link them to the post with the request it be on the blog. Please note that any linked posts must not be under a Read More. We don’t want posts being unreadable if the original creator decides to leave the community! Because of this, we must decline anything under a read more from the archive.
Acceptable Material
Headcanons you came up with.
Headcanons that you had a large hand in the forming of.
Headcanons where your group is all on board with you sharing and they want to show them off.
An explanation for a canon thing that was never properly explained.
Theories about things between canon characters.
Theories about alternate methods for how bloodlines came about.
Stories that explain something about the world.
Personal Worldbuilding for the world.
Theories (either serious or ridiculous) about how the villages and clans work.
Maps!
Alternate Universe theories and worlds (Please indicate it’s meant to be AU! And yes, there will be a category for these if they are popular enough.)
There are likely more, but feel free to try your luck on a Submission.
Material that will Not Be Accepted
Fanart of characters. (While tempting, too much art on the internet ends up reposted without owner credit)
Debates. (For Submissions we’ll only take work from one author, this does not apply to reblogs as such.)
Negativity. (I will not accept any form of hate for characters or storylines)
Anything to do with people in the community. (Positive OR negative. This blog is not about players and authors)
Things the submitter did not write or does not have permission to share.
One True Canon commentary. (This blog is to explore the imagination of the fandom, not to stifle it. Everyone has things they view as canon and I will not pick and choose what those things are.)
Happy Headcanoning!

// So, this is not, in the slightest related to Cable or anyone I’ve seen here, but this just came on my radar and irritated the hell out of me.
Tumblr media
Whoever the original poster/submitter was, and I will so hate to offend anyone, they need to get some perspective. I am one of the last people in the whole world to cry ‘sexism’, but this is absolutely a thing, you ignorant and close-minded being.
First of all, yes, OCs in general are woefully overlooked. People like easy and they like familiar and they like things that they know without any possible complications of running across one of THOSE OCs that give all of the others a bad name. And there’s nothing wrong with people being wary or preferring canons because that’s easiest for them. Maybe they just don’t have time to get invested in something else and have to learn it from the ground up, or maybe they’ve had bad experience and once bitten, twice shy.
Is it that rough and discouraging on original content creators? Hell yes it is. But that’s your right to choose that.
But, I think I can safely say, both from my experience and from what I’ve seen my friends go through, female OCs are treated even more poorly and are even more so looked down upon. People assume they’re just out for the shipping. Or that they’re self-inserts. Or that they’re going to be a Mary Sue.
Those RPers are out there, sure. They absolutely are. But they write OCs AND they write canons, and it’s high-time OCs, in general, stop getting stigmatized simply because someone created them on here.
NEWSFLASH: All canon characters were once someone’s OC, or became someone’s canon divergent interpretation. They don’t become more valid simply because someone gets older or they get paid to write them.
Let’s just use my fandom for example. Deadpool was the OC of artist/writer Rob Liefeld and writer Fabian Nicieza. His interpretation on film by Ryan Reynolds is almost perfectly to canon, but it’s still an adaptation of someone else’s OC. Cable has several points to his origin and thus in some ways was a collaborative/collective OC, but an OC nonetheless. And, in some ways, Josh Brolin’s Cable is a canon-divergent interpretation of that OC.
Here’s some other examples for you: Sherlock Holmes? Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s OC. Victor Frankenstein? Mary Shelley’s OC. The Phantom of the Opera? Gaston Leroux’s OC. Elizabeth Bennett? Jane Austen’s OC. Bilbo Baggins? J.R.R. Tolkien’s OC.
The first step is: can we finally just agree to stop snubbing our noses at people simply because they chose to write a character all their own? If you just have no interest in the character, or you prefer canons simply because you know the material, fine. That’s your decision, ultimately. But, I would also challenge some people to consider what would have happened if they didn’t decide to look at the material for the canons they currently write. Y’know, the ones that are their creators’ OCs.
And the second step: can we stop judging an OC simply for the fact they’re female? Because not every female OC  [ or canon, for that matter, as female canons also have a tendency to be shoved into this box ]  wants a ship. Not every, or even the majority, I would say are Mary Sues. Can we stop assuming that they only want to interact with us because they want to self-insert into a ship with their favorite character?
On the opposite side of this: any and all OC creators––regardless of what gender, race, creed, religion, occupation, or whatever else––please don’t become discouraged.
If you have a story to tell, then tell it, even if only one person listens. And if you feel that nobody listens? Keep pushing through. Hone your craft. Practice, practice, practice. Take this time to further develop your characters and their world.
Hell, if you want to prove some people wrong, write your character(s) a novel and get it published and then nobody could say anything about your character being an OC. Just. Keep. Writing. I urge you to research how many famous authors were turned away––multiple times and by countless publishers––for ‘uninteresting characters’ or ‘boring stories’.
The cursory search I just did supplied such names (and their rejected works) as:
Herman Melville (Moby Dick)
Rudyard Kipling (short story pitch rejected by now defunct newspaper)
Sylvia Plath (The Bell Jar)
C.S. Lewis ('who was turned down 800 times before selling a single piece of writing’)
Ernest Hemingway (The Sun Also Rises)
George Orwell (Animal Farm)
H.G. Wells (The War of the Worlds)
F. Scott Fitzgerald (The Great Gatsby)
Stephen King (The Running Man)
[ credit: information found here and here ]
And there are, I’m certain, countless others. All of these authors and these works, in many cases as well as several of their other works, are considered classics. What would have happened if they had listened to the critics or cried defeat when they were ignored? If you have a character or a story that you believe in, then write it, even if you only ever write it for you. Who knows when that might change?
Come on, guys. Through this toxic practice/mindset, how many people have we discouraged from writing or made to feel inferior or like their ideas weren’t worth anything?
We, the RP community as a whole, are better than this.
Or, at least, we should be.
