It is a time to celebrate the land and new life. Traditionally, Beltane was a festival to generate fertility and bring luck for the growing season. The triple goddess in her maiden form and the horned god (Cernunos) unite in marriage to attract love, fertility, and new life. The Feast of Beltane is a joyful, outgoing, fun celebration of spirits. The energy it provides us is more active than reflective. Beltane Correspondences

Meaning: fullness of spring, the ideal time to defend against evil.

Plants: Willow, hawthorn flowers and other spring flowers.

Herbs: Angelica, rose, jasmine, strawberry, mint.

Incense: Jasmine, vanilla, strawberry, mint.

Oils: Jasmine, vanilla, sauce, strawberry.

Colors (see the meaning in the color matches): Orange, yellow, red, white.

Stones: Coral, jade, pearls, esperaldas, sapphires and pink quartz.

Typical Beltane foods: Cereals, strawberries, blackberries, raspberries and other red berries, or that contains dairy ... if you want something rich it can be vanilla ice cream.

Drinks: whatever you want to make with fruits of the season!

Deities:

The Mother Goddess, Cernunnos, the Pachamama, solar Gods of the different pantheons, Goddesses of fertility and love.

Materials that can be used to decorate

Buds and seasonal flowers

Garlands

Many candles !!! (we can't make a bonfire at home!)

Food and drink. (they are described above)

Activities in Beltane: (the famous “what we do”)

Some traditional Beltane practices are braiding and weaving or other activities that show the union of 2 parts to form a third, as this is the spirit of Beltane.

Beltane meals can be all those that have dairy, barley, wheat or oats or if we want something more sophisticated vanilla ice cream.

Other things you can do in the ritual:

Make the flower or herb bags. (Look at the correspondences)

Make the pendant or souvenir of the Union of the Goddess and the God.

A few more pictures from our trip to Kawasaki yesterday for Kanamara Matsuri/ our anniversary. There's a giant Buddhist temple complex and shopping/food district here that we'll need to come back and check out more fully. These are from the end of the festival, right before we headed home. I LOVE all the Daruma shops.
