Today, December’s full Moon is most commonly known as the Cold Moon—a Mohawk name that conveys the frigid conditions of this time of year, when cold weather truly begins to grip us.

This full Moon has also been called the Long Night Moon (Mohican), as it rises during the “longest” nights of the year, near the December winter solstice. This name is doubly fitting because December’s full Moon shines above the horizon for a more extended period than most full Moons.

In Europe, ancient pagans called the December full Moon the “Moon Before Yule,” in honor of the Yuletide festival celebrating the return of the sun heralded by winter solstice.

“Yule” comes from Old English geol, which shares a history with the equivalent word from Old Norse, jól. Both these words referred to a midwinter festival centered around the winter solstice, which traditionally marked the halfway point of the winter season. After the solstice—the shortest day of the year—the days again begin to grow longer, so it’s thought that Yule was a celebration of the re-appearance of the Sun &the fertile land’s rebirth.

The celebration of Yule is one of the oldest winter celebrations in the world. Ancient people were hunters & spent most of their time outdoors. The seasons & weather played a significant part in their lives. The customs and traditions associated with it vary widely.

Scholars have connected the original celebrations of Yule to the Wild Hunt, the god Odin, and the heathen Anglo-Saxon Mōdraniht ("Mothers' Night")

Some believe it marks the rebirth of the Sun (the God) from the Earth (the Goddess) & the cold days of winter will soon begin to wane. The Goddess is seen in her virgin Maiden aspect

In towns and cities throughout Sweden during the Christmas season, large goats are constructed out of straw. It is thought that the tradition originated in ancient times, perhaps as a tribute to the god Thor, who was said to ride in a chariot pulled by goats. In Sweden the goat came to be associated with the Christmas celebration, and the Yule goat is now considered by many to be a companion or counterpart to Santa Claus.

Christmas- An annual festival commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ as the son of God, primarily observed on December 25th

Hanukkah- A Jewish festival commemorating the recovery of Jerusalem & subsequent rededication of the Second Temple at the beginning of the Maccabean Revolt against the Seleucid Empire in the 2nd century BCE.

Hanukkah is observed for eight nights & days, starting on the 25th day of Kislev according to the Hebrew calendar, which may occur at any time from late November to late December in the Gregorian calendar. The festival is observed by lighting the candles of a candelabrum with nine branches, commonly called a menorah or hanukkiah.

Kwanzaa- An annual celebration of African-American culture from December 26 to January 1st, culminating in a communal feast called Karamu, usually on the sixth day. It was created by activist Maulana Karenga, based on African harvest festival traditions from various parts of West & Southeast Africa. Kwanzaa was first celebrated in 1966.

A Kwanzaa ceremony may include drumming and musical selections, libations, a reading of the African Pledge & the Principles of Blackness, reflection on the Pan-African colors, a discussion of the African principle of the day or a chapter in African history, a candle-lighting ritual, artistic performance & finally, a feast of faith (Karamu Ya Imani).

Saturnalia-

is an ancient Roman festival and holiday in honour of the god Saturn, held on 17 December of the Julian calendar & later expanded with festivities through to 23 December. The holiday was celebrated with a sacrifice at the Temple of Saturn, in the Roman Forum & a public banquet, followed by private gift-giving, continual partying & a carnival atmosphere that overturned Roman social norms: gambling was permitted & masters provided table service for their slaves as it was seen as a time of liberty for both slaves and freedmen alike.

A common custom was the election of a "King of the Saturnalia", who gave orders to people, which were followed & presided over the merrymaking. The gifts exchanged were usually gag gifts or small figurines made of wax or pottery known as sigillaria. The poet Catullus called it "the best of days".

Feast of Epona-

Eponalia is the feast day of Gaulish Goddess Epona, the Divine Mare & in the time of the Roman Empire it was celebrated on December 18th.

Epona is known to be one of a very few Gaulish deities whose names were spread to the rest of the Roman Empire. This seems to have happened because Roman cavalry units stationed in Gaul followed Her & adopted her as their Patroness. This may have started because many of the cavalry troops were conscripted from Gaul as they were superb horsemen. From Gaul the Romans took Epona with them including to Rome where She was given her own feast day on the 18 December. They worshipped her as Epona Augusta or Epona Regina & invoked her on behalf of the Emperor. She even had a shrine in the barracks of the Imperial Bodyguard.

Hunting of the Wren-

A traditional custom carried out on the Isle of Man on the 26 December, St. Stephen's Day. It consists of groups of people going around villages and towns singing and dancing a traditional song and dance around a decorated wren pole.

The earliest and most common folklore story accounting for the origin of hunt the wren tells of a fairy/enchantress/witch whose beauty lures the men of the Isle of Man to harm, for which she is chased and is changed into the form of a wren. It is therefore in punishment for her actions that the wren is hunted on St. Stephen's Day

Rigor Mortis - Masterlist

Rigor Mortis noun stiffening of the joints and muscles of a body a few hours after death, usually lasting from one to four days. "mid 19th century: from Latin, literally ‘stiffness of death’.

WARNING: This fic is based off gothic fiction which usually contains dark themes along with death, suicide, gore and the paranormal. If this is something you are uncomfortable with I suggest you do not read this fic. I give a list of warnings every chapter and summarise the previous chapter at the beginning of every chapter if you ever want to skip one. Summary: The Red Keep stood tall on Aegon’s hill. It used to house the nobles of the realm in the old histories of Westeros but now it was home to the Targaryen family, tainting its red color with their dark and gloom. The Targaryens were a family plagued with rumors, drama and perhaps even the supernatural. It doesn’t help that King’s Landing has been plagued with murders ever since their arrival. Once a month on the morning of the first full moon a body turns up in the Blackwater Bay and everyone suspects it is the mysterious family living in isolation, safe from the horrors that plague the city.

Your father, a well-known businessman and a lover of mysteries, had received a letter from Lady Alicent Hightower that contained a marriage proposal. She wished to marry you to one of her sons who had both recently come of age like you. Your father itched at the opportunity to unravel the mysteries of the Targaryen family and immediately sent you on your way as a future bride and with a mission: uncover the secrets of the most prestigious family in the kingdom.

The Second Perspective ♠

A masterthread/post of all the easter-eggs, fun facts, and references to literature, BSD canon, film noir, and history included in my Soukoku fic, The Second Perspective.

The Timeline ->

1958 to 1978

The gap of twenty years was super intentional. By the late 50s, McCarthy was censured by the senate, the Second Red Scare and anti-Soviet rhetoric were slowly losing public support and popularity. My choice to include the Rats in the House of the Dead was mediated by that fact. The late 50s is also when the LAPD and law enforcement across the country started making psychological evaluations ( of suspect quality ) mandatory, starting in Northern California, actually. Kinsey's publications in 1948 and 1953 were explosive--especially to the stifling, extremely heteronormative, nuclear-family morals of post-war 50s America. In 1970s, the term 'Serial Killer' officially enters the public's vocabulary. Despite not being an ongoing investigation, the re-opening of the Angel's Ripper case aligns with what is called the 'golden age' of serial killers. The 'second look' and the desire to re-sensationalize the case is due to Detective Dazai's belongings turning up, but also timely, as it would feed into the public's paranoia and fascination. I took some liberties with Los Angeles's mayoral election schedule ( which, if I'd been meticulous and historically accurate with, would have had TSP take place in the early days of 1977 or late in 1976 ). Los Angeles in the 70s was also suffering from serious smog--almost 200 bad air days a year. Akutagawa's lung condition ( which hasn't been touched on just yet with the exception of a throwaway lines at Tycheron and with Yosano ) is largely due to this bad air quality.

July 17th, 1958

The date of the Red Camellia murder was also chosen with intention. July, the peak of summer, rife with Americana, fireworks, and full California beaches, is everything the winter season of Camellia isn't.

Organizations -> The Double Black

A bit obvious, really, but the club's logo of the two black Ace playing cards is an obvious nod to Soukoku being equally matched partners, even if in this au their dynamic is wildly different ( If anything, Chuuya has the upper hand in this one--even if he doesn't quite know it yet ). The Double Black is also described as more Golden Age of Hollywood-like, since Kouyou runs it and she's quite the traditionalist, I figured she'd cringe ( or pass out ) at the sight of plastic plants in the vases and blue carpeting.

The Golden Coast Guild

The TSP equivalent of Hearst corporation, run by William Randolph Hearst, a media company that covered everything from celebrity gossip to politics with over a dozen papers and magazines. Hearst became obscenely rich, and in real life, used his wealth to support Marion Davies, an actress ( and his mistress ), whose life he nearly ruined. F. Scott Fitzgerald ( the actual author ) loathed Hearst's willingness to print yellow journalism ( basically, bullshit ) and Jay Gatsby's mansion is loosely inspired by Hearst's home in New York, I believe. I thought it would be funny to combine the two. I also have a soft spot for Fitz in canon, even if he does speak with the sound of a cash register in every word and there's an American flag behind him wherever he goes.

Tycheron and the House of the Dead

First, Tycheron, Sigma's casino business, gets it's name from the Greek goddess of luck--Tyche--named Fortuna by the Romans. I couldn't call it the 'Sky Casino' because well, there's no sky. But a goddess is pretty up there. California gambling law is extremely complicated, but casino boats, docked 3 nautical miles outside of state borders ( usually from a point in Santa Monica, where the bay/bight made those laws a bit easier to work around ) were a neat exception--at least, until they started getting repurposed for WWII. So, Sigma still evades the law by being 'out of bounds' with The Angelica gambling boat. The casino business as a way for the DoA to stick their noses into the L.A. political landscape is also a loose reference to Bugsy Siegel, and the Italian-American Mafia's attempts to expand westward with the establishment of casinos and the nurturing of Las Vegas. Siegel's mansion, where he was murdered for his thefts from the Mafia, also inspired the Mori estate.

Characters ->

The Red Camellia

The real life Nakahara Chuuya was quite the romantic. His poetry is described as 'Bohemian,' so I thought having him be a bit of a drifter-like character, almost mysterious and unnatainable to his fans and SSKK in the present, would be a bit similair to how much of what we know of Chuuya doesn't come from the main story in canon, either. Combining that with Dazai's obsessive desire to lock him in ( haha ) with a comitted relationship and his serious levels of devotion, makes for a pretty interesting dynamic, I think. Though, Dazai's no Catherine Tramell, and Chuuya is certainly not Curran--BI's dynamic has been flipped almost completely with TSP, but the crazy is the same. And though I describe him as a drifter, that's not to say this au's Chuuya isn't fiercely loyal, it's just his loyalties haven't had the chance to be tested just yet. I made the choice to have Chuuya called the Red Camellia in life because it's a direct subversion of other flower-tagged murders like: the White Rose murders, the Lilac Murder of William Desmond Taylor, the Black Dhalia ( inspired by the film, Blue Dhalia ), the White Gardenia murder, etc. etc. All of those monikers are posthumous, and created for the sole purpose of selling the story of a dead individual. Also, rather than having a journalist bestow it to him, Dazai is the one who comes up with it. Do what you will with that info . . . Additionally, Camellia japonica is native to East Asia, not the U.S. It can survive here, but it will struggle. The choice to set the story in L.A., in a period of harsh post-war crackdowns on Japanese/East-Asian immgiration into California also influenced this title. It was also a choice made based on the appearance of 椿Tsubaki in Soukoku official art. Their Japanese meaning of passionate love and a noble death, also holds true here.

KEY LAPD Characters with interesting qualities

Sasaki Nobuko, Homicide Detective - reference to canon Sasaki's background in criminology and experience as a lecturer at a Tokyo university. Captain -> Commander Fukuzawa Yukichi - Holds a position of authority similar to his role as the ADA's president in canon, but he's unenthusiastic about his career in the LAPD.

Note the lack of private eyes in the story so far!

Interesting PM Character references keeping this light for obvious, spoiler-y reasons

Elise - Elise is intentionally a grown woman in this au. And a nurse! A reference to both her presentation in BEAST and the Great War in the main BSD storyline, and a reminder of the timeline ( she'd have been 8-10 years old in the past TL! ). Her feisty nature is also retained. I was inspired by Lauren Bacall's Vivian in The Big Sleep, especially her meeting scene with Marlowe, when writing her meeting with Atsushi at the Mori Estate.

The Angel's Ripper

A reference to Los Angeles, but also Dazai's title as the Demon prodigy of Yokohama. Ripper, rather than Killer being used because of the surgical nature of the deaths ( Jack the Ripper was thought to be either a doctor or a policeman ).

Phew. What a mess. This has largely been for me to keep track of my own thoughts and the tangled web I've been weaving with this fic, and it will likely get several updates over the course of me writing the second half of Part II and ( the much shorter ) Part III to TSP. But if you read it, and enjoyed it, I'm extra glad <3 I've been having a blast talking about my love for these films and this AU after keeping it bottled up for so long. I'm like shaken, corked champagne haha.

Worm Fanfic Recs

No rankings at play here, just my favorite fics that I think other are really good. There are fics I like that aren't listed because I have a bad memory, but everything here is something I really really enjoyed. I have biases obviously, this isn't objective.

The Fics

Our Private Crises - A nailbiting murder mystery with unique and well done POVs from a different character each chapter. The mystery and reveal at the end were stellar, and it got me attached to characters I never thought I'd care for. 29k words. Complete.

It's Cold Out There Every Day - Missy is trapped in a time loop on her birthday. Genuinely stellar characterization, it has the best Missy and Aisha I've ever read and its such a creative and well executed premise. 41k words. Complete.

Tilt - Unpowered homeless girl Taylor fakes a thinker power to get in the Wards and secure housing. She's even more self destructive and self deprecating than in canon. 10/10 characterization for a slew of POV characters including Taylor, every ward but especially Sophia, Rachel, Lisa, and a ton of other characters. Despite not going through all of what canon Taylor went through, this fic nails her character better than pretty much any others. 220k words at time of posting. Updating consistently.

Tear Apart, Stitch Together - Taylor triggers with Shatterbird's power and kills thousands. Short and sweet, everything that's there is great and it wraps up well I think. 13k words. Complete

Memories of a Simurgh Victim - The Simurgh attacks Brockton Bay. Has two storylines, one following Taylor and one following Amy and Vicky. Among the most fucked up things this fandom has to offer, a terrifying showcase of the Simurgh and her power. 62k words. Taylor's story is incomplete but the Amy and Victoria story is done.

Desperate Times Call For Desperate Pleasures - Cherish altpower Taylor tries to consensually fix Amy's incest fetish. A trainwreck I can't look away from, the worlds first psychological horror romcom. It's so fucked up and so amazingly funny, and has good well written characters. I don't like Pillbug and I'm not a big fan of altpowers, but this fic is still one of my favorites because it's so damn compelling so definitely check it out if you actually like either of those things. 211k words at time of posting. Updating consistently.

Roots - The Slaughterhouse Nine attack a small town with a roster of OC capes, but something is very off about the place. POV shifts every chapter, and the OCs are interesting and unique. The S9 are also wonderfully characterized here, I've never had a fic make me sad for Crawler of all people. 67k words at time of posting. Ongoing. Criminally underrated.

Roma Fade - Ciara and Fortuna both try to grow past who they were as capes and find themselves as people in a small town post Gold Morning, having found common ground posing as moms to a recovering Taylor. I'm sure fake dating would never end in real attraction, that would be absurd. Incredibly gay, incredible characterization for everyone, the best post-GM fic around in my opinion. 87k words at time of posting. Ongoing but currently on hiatus.

Case - Lisa and the Simurgh start a detective agency. It's just great humor and a lovely story and wonderful despite being short and deceased. 14k words. Dead.

Silence is not Consent - Taylor intervenes and saves Victoria from Amy and gives her a place to stay, Victoria massively struggles dealing with what happened. Amazing characterization, Victoria's POV is unique and incredibly well done, and her seeing Taylor from an outside perspective is interesting. Be warned that this is a very heavy fic emotionally, but it's really fucking good. 212k words at time of posting. Updating consistently.

A Word - Altpower Taylor is obsessed with writing a story. I don''t know how to describe this fic honestly it's hard to do justice, but it has perhaps the best conclusion to Gold Morning I've seen in a fanfic. 11k words. Complete.

Scarab - A fantasy AU where powers are thought to be magic, and the Faerie Queen takes an interest in Taylor. Filled to the brim with creativity and passion, this fic is teeming with fresh ideas and interesting depictions of canon characters. The worldbuilding is great as well, no other fic on this list has a map, so this is clearly a cut above the rest. 139k words at time of posting. Updating consistently.

Swallowtail - Ok I lied this one has a map too. Taylor with an incredibly interesting stranger power joins Faultline's crew. There is a truly astounding amount of AU elements and alternate powers for canon characters, it feels like a new world while still being recognizable and distinctly Worm. Has a large amount of alternate POVs and the first arc can be rough, but it's creative and amazing. 360k words. Ongoing but currently on haitus.

Soliloquy - Ex-Slaughterhouse 9 Taylor is in prison, bitter at the world and herself and especially her clone who saved the multiverse. A heavy fic about someone slowly recovering and becoming a better person when they're convinced it can't be done. Made me cry. 71k words. Complete.

TWNY - Post-GM Taylor finds herself in the world of RWBY with a pair of moth antennae. Multiple POVs, all very interesting despite me knowing nothing of RWBY. Probably the best characterization of Taylor in any post-GM crossover fic, she's heartbreaking in the recent arc, and it feels like the fic has barely scratched the surface of what it'll eventually cover. Also it's very gay. 136k words. Ongoing.

The Great Escape - Eidolon is struggling after his reputation is destroyed and Cauldron is revealed, and then the Birdcage opens. Amazing use of seldom seen characters, great POV with Eidolon, well done and interesting fights, has String Theory. 107k words. Ongoing but currently on haitus.

Happiness Is Inevitable - NSFW. The only damn erotic mind control Simurgh smut in the fandom somehow. Besides the porn (which is a lot of the fic, who woulda thunk it) the story itself is actually pretty interesting and has a lot of creative parts, and it has better characterization than most fics. 29k words. Ongoing?

Oneshots

Break me so that I can be whole - This accursed fandom is tragically bereft of QA / Taylor fics, but this one shot is great, love an eldritch take on shards. Probably fucked up but I'm not actually a good judge of that so be warned. 1.8k words.

Book Worm - Dragon helps teach Taylor how to read and speak and understand language post-GM. Bittersweet and lovely. 2.5k words.

Defiant Didn't Dox Saint For Nothing! - Taylor goes back in time and the first thing she does is kill Saint because he sucks. Cracky but I like it, fun little oneshot. 1.6k words.

Ruling Ash - Glory Girl flees Brockton Bay during the Slaughterhouse Nine and ends up living with Damsel of Distress. Cute, and Starsong before Ward is very interesting. 2.8k words.

My Sunshine - Leviathan goes worse and Brockton Bay is destroyed. Taylor and Victoria survive. Very somber, but well executed. 3.4k words.

Cherry on Top - A character study of Cherie Vasil, showing how she went from running away from Heartbreaker to joining the Nine. Theres a through line in Wildbow's works of conflict and competition being a necessary, generative force. Its the Entities modus operandi in Worm, seeding worlds with powers that nudge hosts into conflict, in order to find the magic combination of powers that can reverse entropy. Brockton Bay is a smaller application of this, with Cauldron giving more leeway to parahumans than they normally would as a city sized experiment (ok actually that may be a fanon thing I honestly can't remember.) It's best seen in Eden's vision for Earth, a dystopia where humanity has fractured into small groups all constantly at war with each other. In Ward, we see that the plan may have actually worked? Maybe? The Fortuna Titan carves an unknown message in the shardspace bedrock for future Entities to find. It may be the secret ingredient their looking for, or a memo saying this method sucks, don't do this.

In Twig, Sy repeatedly compares how the Lambs operate to shaking a box full of spiders and seeing what happens. In the final epilogue, Sy gets the emperor of Europe to not, you know, kill them all then and there and take back control, because they can offer needed competition to the empire. You also see it in the primordial life interlude, as it develops and learns specifically in reaction to how the doctors try to control it.

In Pact, Blake prays to the Abyss, believing that it's not just a destructive force, but a *refining* force, one that forces change. This is also Charles' plan for the undercities in Pale, to create harsh, godawful environments to make new, powerful Aware that blur the line between Innocent and Other. I really should be making this after I finish Pale, because from what I understand Charles last plan is a version of this cranked up to 11?

As for what this all means, idk. It's worth noting that it's usually the villains or antagonists who subscribe to this, and that the works also show how being an individual in these conflict driven systems really fucking sucks, maybe we shouldn't be doing this? It's literally midnight here so I'm sure there are more examples or counterexamples that I'm forgetting.

Wake up as Six in a car in dark void. The door opens and The Spine is there.

Spine: Hi! :D I'm The Spine from the robot band Steam Powered Giraffe!

Me: I know who you are... (Foggy memory here but basically) Where are we?

Spine: Great question!

The Spine turns on the light and we're in a garage. By the bay door is a tiny figure that looks like a tiny chibi Rabbit, but as it scuttles around (and I tell you it scuttled and was definitely not actually Rabbit) I am filled with certainty that it's either going to try to kill me or shoot lasers out of its eyes. So as I'm preparing to start the car and get out of there I turn to The Spine and ask

Me: ... You know who I am right?

Spine: of course! You're the faceless inventor!

Me: .... Say my name

Spine: Peter Watthews

Me: CLOSE ENOUGH

And then we went on an epic chase scene with increasingly deranged pursuers (including the weird crab Rabbit that indeed started shooting lasers out of its eyes, Robot Peter Walter I, and a space alligator) while, I shit you not, an Animal Crossing orchestra played O Fortuna! in the background.

In ogni caso riguardo i criminali in rp ho fatto abitudine di interpretare personaggi reali o inventati tuttavia non supporto i loro errori e crimini come avrò spiegato diverse volte.

Nelle mie trame alcuni rimangono a fare crimini perché tanto possono attaccare chiunque mentre per alcuni di loro ho cambiato le loro vite per motivi che non comandano più nulla e di conseguenza ho dovuto fare qualcosa di simile a Guantanamo-bay (nel senso un tizio criminale non farà lo stesso crimine) e aggiungendo anche un alleanza statunitense-israeliana per motivi che si sa bene che hanno avuto strani alleati in precedenza nazisti.

Comunque per creare per esempio un criminale inventato oltre a ispirarsi a uno reale suggerisco:

-infanzia sfortunata e di abusi

-Famiglia disfunzionale

-Torture subite in prigione

-Difficoltà a entrare nella società

-Carattere difficile e aggressivo dall'infanzia che non è gestibile

-Ossessione di uccidere qualcuno

-Ossessione di trovare capri espiatori

-Misoginia

Some of the authors are favorites of mine (Jemisin, Leckie), but I'm looking forward to reading more by Joan He, Amélie Wen Zhao, and Xiran Jay Zhao - especially the continuations of the series.

HABILIDADE MÁGICA: Escamas de dragão

Seria comum escamas em um dragão, mas as de Long Bai eram simplesmente algo mágico. O corpo humano de Bai ficava coberto por escamas resistentes como um escudo extremamente forte, como se aquela parte do corpo se enrijecesse para proteção do rapaz. É capaz de criar essas escamas no corpo todo, que amortecem impacto e são resistentes à maioria das armas brancas e de fogo, bem como o elemento fogo.

OCUPAÇÃO: Bai às vezes ajuda o pai como assistente técnico em seus treinamentos, dando pitaco (bajulando ele) durante o trabalho e mantendo o ‘controle’ na medida do possível quando os xingamentos surgem (rindo de nervoso e correndo). Mas tudo é uma desculpa, na verdade, para ter acesso às pessoas no meio esportivo e investir em sua verdadeira ocupação como o próprio “MagiBet”, promovendo eventos de apostas em qualquer categoria esportiva que tivesse um arthuriano para discordar do outro e investir seu dinheiro.

SOBRE:

Desde pequeno Long Bai sempre ansiava ser como seu pai, porém, ao se tornar um adulto com muito dos traços dele (os piores, diga-se de passagem), ele já não tinha mais tanta certeza se aquele caos todo era tão bom assim. Não o compare a Mushu, de certo que Bai vai revirar os olhos e fazer uma careta reclamando como seu velho é intragável às vezes (muitas semelhanças geram atritos, não é?). O fato é que, realmente, muito da personalidade do rapaz veio de seu pai. Era barulhento, esquentadinho e boca suja quando “necessário” e, sério, o quanto o garoto amava se soltar no Castigo poderia ser preocupante. Porém ele tinha também traços positivos, como o carisma e o lado divertido de Mushu.

Bem cedo, e com toda admiração que sempre carregou em si, o terceiro Long já passou a seguir o pai às escondidas. Por volta de 13 à 14 anos sempre sabia quando o dragão velho iria se divertir e sempre soube como segui-lo para aprender mais sobre o lugar. Foi pego algumas vezes, mas, quando tinha idade o suficiente, passou a frequentar os locais de lazer de seu coroa o acompanhando. Muitos podem dizer que foi o contato com o Castigo e essa liberdade de “se expressar sem frescuras” como os arthurianos que fez a índole do rapaz ser questionável. Afinal, em que lugar de Arthurian o garoto teria aprendido sobre apostas e aquele jeito de se beneficiar em cima dos outros?

A ambição de Bai poderia ser sua ruína, mas ele nunca levou a nocividade disso tão à sério. Se corromper era para os fracos, oras. Ele se auto intitulava o “Dragão da Fortuna”, alegando que eram seus genes e seu destino que o faziam ser assim, mas prometendo que seria mais comportado pelo bem de sua família (e porque odiava ouvir lições de moral dos tios). Porém fica difícil de acreditar quando sempre tem pessoas por aí se dizendo tapeadas pelo rapaz, ainda mais após o início de seu “negócio” com as apostas em todo e qualquer esporte ou evento competitivo que ele promove por todos os cantos possíveis.

No momento, a novidade tem sido aproveitar para organizar embates (ou se meter nos que já ocorrem) e agitar apostas nos concorrentes, para que o lutador vencedor ganhe boa parte das apostas; o resto sendo dividido entre seu lucro e o dos apostadores.

Bai não sabe o que o futuro reserva e tem certeza que seus atos impensados vão ter consequências a longo prazo, mas ele meio que não se importa desde que os resultados a curto prazo estejam contidos. Para o controle, inclusive, ele conta com a ajuda de Yuzi e Yujie, que o apoiam em toda e qualquer situação como seus ‘sócios’, por assim dizer. Não deveria ser o mais velho que leva primos e irmãos para o caminho duvidoso da vida, mas ser assim é inevitável pra quem vive de aventuras a todo momento.

Mas ele não é de todo ruim, não mesmo. Seu coração ambicioso ainda é enorme e é muito dedicado à família, seu carisma não é só fachada e, aproximando-se dele, você pode sempre encontrar em Long Bai um amigo dedicado e leal.
