Ubuweb still has MP3’s of the entire run of Brian Eno’s shortlived label, Obscure Records—-all free
They’re all worth hearing, but my favorites are
No.1, Gavin Bryars “Jesus Blood Never Saved Me Yet / The Sinking Of The Titanic”, an early classic in (post? Whatever)-minimalism & found sound
No 3., Eno’s own album Discreet Music
No 5, Voices and Instruments by Jan Steele and featuring some of Cage’s beautiful songs
No 7, Music from The Penguin Cafe
And no 10, Harold Budd’s Pavillion of Dreams
If you like Eno’s ambient work there’s probably something here you’ll love

FAVOURITE MUSIC 2022  I listened to far more music in 2022 than I did in 2021, despite not actively putting a radio show together or even actively seeking out many releases. I kept to an accidentally rigorous regime of listening to a few records every week, often while walking or driving, and that might explain this longer list of my year end favourites. Probably not a lot of surprises here, with lots of artists I have never failed to recommend to others! Click the album name for a link to the music on Bandcamp if possible.
Again, I did apply strict criteria: doesn't matter whether it was a reissue or not, but had to like it enough to try and get a copy, attend a show, or support the artist in some way, and/or listened to it repeatedly during the year. Several artists got two entries - but that's because the records in question by German Army and Nail Club are companion pieces of sort (they work better when listened to together, in my mind).
There is also some music I didn't get around to really appreciating this year - by Heaven for Real, Mali Obomsawin, Horse Lords, Chatpile and that exciting Groucho Pepe release - that theoretically might have made this list had I gotten around to it.
FIRST ROW: Loraine James - Building Something Beautiful For Me Omodaka - ZENTSUU: Collected Works 2001-2019 Kali Malone - Living Torch Crack Cloud - Tough Baby Use Knife - The Shedding of Skin SECOND ROW: German Army - Endless Suburb / Allocations Of The American Nile Diagonals - Born Under A Rhyming Planet (re-issue) Wu-Lu - Loggerhead Night Beheaded - Enter Earth THIRD ROW: J. Carter - Speak, You Also Nail Club - Absolution / Mise en Abyme CTM - Babygirl Maylee Todd - Maloo
FOURTH ROW: John Rose - Kent County The Weather Station - How Is It That I Should Look At the Stars Kill Alters - Armed To The Teeth L.M.O.M.M. 700 Bliss - Nothing To Declare Shygirl - Nymph FIFTH ROW: Naujawanan Baidar - Khedmat Be Khalq Cucina Povera & Ben Vince - There I See Everything Dean Hurley + Romance - In Every Home A Heartache Fatboi Sharif x noface - Preaching In Havana Snake Chain - Snake Chain SIXTH ROW: დელფინების საავადმყოფო & خاااب - Georgian Letters Gavin Bryars - The Sinking of the Titanic (re-issue) Joyful Joyful - Joyful Joyful Zola Jesus - Arkhon Don-Bradshaw Leather - Distance Between Us (re-issue)
