House of Frankenstein Wax museum in Lake George opened for the first day of the "Tourist" season today!
All the rest of this month it will only be open on Saturdays and Sundays. Then in May it will have a few week days open. Leading up to Halloween they will have more and more days open and then close for the season in November.
For a while they had a sister location called Dr. Morbid's but it wasn't as good and relied heavily on audio clips and discarded props and figures from House of Frankenstein that I think would have been better left in their original displays.
(I have still not forgiven House of Frankenstein's house of wax for removing the Cask of Amontillado scene for what looks like a Spencers Gifts dummy of Freddy Krueger but the brick wall with the hole in it is still there behind him...
You removed the semi-educational literary horror for something bought at a mall.

Horror Attraction Actor
This is very random, but I had an idea:
So, this October, I plan to sign up to be a horror attraction actor at my local horror festival, which has haunted houses, actors roaming around, food stands, merch, etc etc.
They let you be basically anything you want, and since I love circuses and clowns and such, I plan to be a clown of some kind, but I haven't quite decided what kind of clown, so I was curious about Tumblr's input.
(And while this technically has nothing to do with OUAW, I feel given the Honk Legion exists, OUAW fans have unique qualifications with answering this question XD)

I was intrigued by this haunted house for sale in Fort Gaines, Georgia, so I did a little research. Known as Dean’s Haunted Mansion, it’s a defunct, failed haunted attraction that couldn’t turn a profit, and when you look at the amateur decor attempt, you can see why. Built in 1829, it has 3bd, 3ba., and is for sale for $400K.
This is what it looked like in 2016 when it was a fixer-upper selling for $49,900. Oddly, back then it had 6bd. and 2.5ba. (It’s been flipped 3 times.)
Seriously, it doesn’t look like it needed much work, and I don’t think that any fixer-upping took place at all. I think that the current owners just decorated it, as it was.
It was cute- it had a fireplace in the .5 bath, which may or may not still be there.
I’m trying to navigate my way thru the house, and it’s not easy, but this is clearly the sitting room fireplace. (Notice the sexy skeletal leg provocatively peeking out from behind the curtain.)
It’s kind of impossible to match the rooms up, so I’m just going with the flow. Here we have Krampus, some friends & some caskets. Love the ceiling.
I like these walls- this house was redone, it just needed a few tweaks.
Vampire coming thru. They spray painted the fireplace.
They redid the kitchen.
And, here’s the haunted version. Completely annihilated.
Lots of original fireplaces. Here’s a bd. and a cute vintage bath.
Creepy clown room.
These rooms were redone, a closet was added, but the rest of the house needs to be finished.
Part of the house needed finishing.
Here’s a haunted OR.
Looks like some experimentation going on.
More miscellaneous horror figures.
The side of the house then and now.

Looking back my childhood home was absolutely infested with spiders. Like, I just assumed it was normal that every room in a house would have a few spiders, and that you'd have to actively watch out to not get a spider to the face in the basement. Nothing dangerous, just cellar spiders. Tbh they might have been eating each other cuz they're were not enough bugs to sustain this population, and a few corners would sustain particularly large lone spiders. Once I found one that I assumed was a shed skin, but I guess it'd been hibernating? Because once touched it visibly became a darker color and slowly moved away.
Anyway I grew up with pretty bad arachnophobia and to this day I can't really deal with cellar spiders or anything that looks too similar too them. I think this is evidence that exposing kids to scary things while they're young will not make them stronger, it'll just make them really thankful every time they enter a house that is not mostly spiders
