Grian and Mumbo literally build the original Grumbot together, they name him after them!! That's their son!! Soon he starts calling them 'dads' instead of 'creators'. At the end of season 7 Grian and Mumbo say "let's go say bye to our son." THAT IS THERE SON In season 9 Emperor Grumbot throws a fit when hes activated and threatens to destroy the server when told Mumbo isnt there. That's just a little baby guy wanting his dad! All babies do that minus the capacity to destroy the world with their tantrums!

I just think it’s funny that Grian and Mumbo tried to create an AI to win a mayoral race and accidentally made a son and then that son came back in a later season as an (implied) murderer and then Grian remade that son and he attempted murder. Something is up with that guy

Ok so just to sum up the craziest happenings of JUST THIS WEEK:

Grian was busy one-upping Mumbo in an impractical copper-aging structure competition when Impulse, Gem (who are having an all out prank war with Pearl) and Scar arrived to absolutely bully him into building the back of his base, giving him twenty four hours to build it before they explode his base, later installing a giant TNT dispenser above his base set to explode regularly the front of his base after 24 hours. However, he was too busy accidentally exploding Doc's tunnel bore machine with Scar, later trying to rebuild it, leaving gifts as apologies and blowing a hole through the ceiling to escape when breaking the news to Doc, which just worsens his mood when he finds out not only that, but that Grian has been stealing copper from the walls of the Perimeter for months. Keep in mind, Doc is in possesion of an anvil launcher, a slimeblock moving mecha-goat which launches TNT, a charged creeper launcher and something even worse in the works. He then procedes to make Grian's nether portal one single portal block to haunt him. All of that just for one-upping Mumbo with an Amogus meme, who, by the way, created the Button 2, which dispenses the hermit's diamonds back to them, but if they wait to much to press it, it explodes them all. Also, Cleo, as a british person, built a museum with his friend's prized possesions and a lot of the king's memorabilia the day of King Charle's coronation irl, and also, Scar hawkeyed Bdub's day one horse "Mi Amore" ("My Love" in italian) just after he built a whole ranch in a custom horse head shaped mountain just for him.

So yeah. May is gonna be an interesting month it turns out.

Edit: Ok, so as @orangekingfisher pointed out, "Mi Amore" actually translates to "Me Love", which actually does not surprise me at all, the hermits have a history of messing up foreign languagues lol.

Attempting to whack myself out of artblock with a couple late-night Joe doodles! Joodles!!

10 years of Hermitcraft deserves some kind of celebration so here we have one of my favourite moments of the whole of S7 a.k.a Joseph's Amazing Technicolour Dreamboat. There's also Joe Classic, & a Beetlejhost with its fascinating axolotl accessory the Ectolotl :D

a list of bdubs-centric continuities that make me fucking wildly insane, in chronological-ish order:

boomers + vote scar posters in the moon base as a memento of the prior season

don't worry, it's not the clock (start of hcs8 with impulse, who has come to give bdubs presents and spots the accessory on his new skin)

this brings back memories (the very first seconds of partnering with etho in last life)

now it feels like home! (cleo arriving in what will become the snow fort for the first time, to lighthearted complaining from etho)

I heard you've been messing with my buddy (cleo bullying etho mostly for fun, but an opportunity she had solely because she'd already been doing pointless favors for bdubs (pretending to have found the enchanter randomly while both red, even though no one would fall for that bc she's red) solely because he asked and she's still fond of him)

that man has a hold on me, I guess (about his habit of making dumb deals with scar for no good logical reason)

I trust you because bdubs trusted you (not only is the crastle a running undercurrent in LL, it's also transitively extended to etho)

that was in another world (tango to bdubs, not long before escaping obliteration by moon in an extended bit where he chooses to take his horse instead of his business partner despite some asymmetrically heart-wrenching videos exchanged after it was too late)

Double Life #1: The Nick of Time (bdubs makes impulse, his government assigned soulmate, get him the thing he betrayed impulse for in an identically titled third life episode)

I have NEVER lied to you, Bdubs (cleo taking bdubs to task for not continuing to return the loyalty they've had to each other over the seasons)

he's just jealous (explaining that etho, who despite being the first person to call bdubs and impulse married can't stop asking if bdubs is really happy, is insulting impulse's honor because of missing their past partnership)

she scolded me so badly, one time (explaining above scolding to ren as a relevant criteria to cleo's hcs9 court audition tape)

and, in fact, the way that bdubs' reputation as the hermitcraft server's most dedicated sleeper led to his constant carrying of clocks as a done thing, to keeping clocks close in the life series where you can't one-person sleep the night away so they're much less useful, leading to I'd do anything for a clock because that service he provides in another world has become central to who he is as a character, to the keeping of time and history, and also bundled here associations with the moon, which recalls the passage of time and now also the ending of worlds, and you'd think it should have been planned from the start but he's just always taking every opportunity to say, "that world is over, but don't you remember what I did or didn't do? doesn't it still matter, here and now?"

This page was the winner of 6 other compositions (censored — one day they will be posted in their own time). It takes direct inspiration by the theming of Bdubs’ HCS7 thumbnails in the comic-book style, particularly the episode Bdubs get his iconic big beautiful eyes and smile x]

IN THE NICK OF TIME (3L)

In another universe- the right portion of the set would have been a continuation of the S7 theme, imitating that of an actual magazine spread with recaps and shit (rejected— too much research u_u)

The happenings of HCS7 and 3L overlap, and I wanted to visually show that mirror transition between the two series. The 3L page for that reason was harder to manage without being too different or too underwhelming to its HC37 counterpart. This page is dedicated to his season finale POV of 3rd Life ft Day 1 Crew (and Tango)
