September started sweet
Then winter got so mean
The fruit left on my sheets
If I could do it all again, I would’ve said—
the zurich au, shipwright & fairbairn remix. thoughts below.
this piece (as does most of shipwright & fairbairn’s overall Vibe) took a lot of inspiration from magdalena bay’s “chaeri” (strobe warning for the video).
i wrote a little bit about it here, but in my idea of lucy @sircarolyn’s zurich au, herc going to switzerland directly pushes linda out of a job. in my head, herc makes a promise to linda that he will help her as much as he could, and then… doesn’t. he leaves without saying anything. it’s schrodinger’s friend breakup: is it over? is it not over? there’s a liminality between them here, which is a lot like the idea of flight itself, and a lot like many of the wide shots in the music video.
almost in retaliation, i envision linda joining air england (which is. basically british airways but shh). by her living her life by spite, the air england move is a bastardization of the worst kind. she knows what this must mean to herc, whom she still shares a sky with. and they do bump into each other in my head, and herc is sorry, but he broke what was built in trust, and linda tore it down the rest of the way.
the visual of herc extending a hand to linda, and her utterly rejecting it, is central to the AU. in my head, he raises a hand to fix her ribbon pin on her tie. she raises a hand and slaps him away. the trust is broken. can it be fixed?

> FERDINAND II.
And so your PLANT shall henceforth be known as FERDINAND II.
The thought of needing to inform FERDINAND I of his having a namesake makes you a bit ill, but you are already hard at work devising several plausible excuses for the gesture. Something about how you've named it after the one most invested in its naming, or how it is similarly prone to drooling. Yes. Yes, you will be able to deflect quite easily, should the need arise. It has nothing to do with your fondness for FERDINAND or your desire for a substitute in his imminent absence, no—again, you are not so prone to sentimentality. It's about the drool.
Well, anyway. Best to move on with your day and think about something else, lest you grow maudlin or cultivate further affection for the PLANT. May the GODDESS be merciful and never cause you to develop inclinations that could be described as paternal.
Now that your plant has received sufficient care, it is time for COFFEE. You set to making your morning brew. By CHANCE, there happens to be sufficient water remaining in the kettle for FERDINAND I to have TEA, should he wish it.
Per your TIMEPIECE, it is now a quarter to eight. You have made excellent progress on your PRE-BREAKFAST TO-DO LIST thus far: the only remaining task is to remove FERDINAND. You are starting to get rather peckish and would like to be rid of him quickly, but over the past week, you have found that extracting the man from YOUR QUARTERS is a more arduous task than it ought to be.

if you're asking for drawing requests, maybe Willow in her timeskip look or Luz with the Collector??
[ID: a digital illustration of Luz (in her titan form from watching and dreaming) and The Collector. Luz stands on a small hill of red grass, waving at The Collector, who's off-screen but depicted to the audience as a closeup inside a star shaped panel. Luz is waving at the off-screen Collector with a smile, while The Collector smiles tearfully at her. Small uncoloured doodles of Eda and King are depicted waving at the collector in the background. End ID]
This was meant to be a doodle anon but unfortunately I went off the shits. Anyway, collector sees Luz post-resurrection and cries big gross happy tears bc he's so happy she's alive

"c'mon, sweetheart. studying's for nerds."
"Consider me as a nerd for now, then."
"no can do."
"Why's that?"
"your more fun than a nerd. and it'd be a waste if we don't get some fun, doll."
"And it'd be a waste of time and effort just to pleasure ourselves. And plus, I need to study this for tomorrow."
"C'mon.. a bit of fun won't hurt."
"...Fine."

The farmer’s son is a smart boy, very studious, has big dreams of getting into politics one day and always seems to have his nose in a book the size of his head. Though he’s got a good work ethic, his mother thinks it needs to be put to the test in a way he’ll understand— all of his big talk about generating plasma falls on the deaf ears of a farmer who knows that the true way to revolution is through toil.
When his big, grand dreams about liberation drive him to want something greater than working as a farmhand, his mother brings on a new project— a temperamental steer, rescued from inhumane living conditions, with a penchant for violence and an unrelenting stubbornness. The farmhand is tasked with the care and keeping of the cattle, and though the two get off to a rocky start, the man treats the steer with the first show of humanity he’s ever experienced— giving him his abuela’s old glasses, allowing him to see clearly for the first time in his life.
Somehow, the young man is able to tame the bull, who listens intently as he reads him theory, parrots his speech; the two eventually grow to have a bond. It is anyones guess whether this relationship, unseen before in history, will succeed— with a creature who is finally trusted to learn, and a man who is only beginning to experience the world in anything but theory.
