the fact that duggan during the fall of x CONSISTENTLY has Orchis identify krakoa as an ethno-state as part of their scaremongering... well that feels bad lmao!

The thought that goes into the fake science in dungeon meshi can be something so special actually. Using golems to explain crop rotation and how removing predators from an ecosystem can have knock-on effects. Talking about symbiotic relationships and parasites too! And characters are actually interested in the science so they keep explaining about it. Finally, some exposition I can get behind.

the way people treat kon & clark's relationship in fanon vs how it is in [postcrisis] canon is honestly one of the most buckwild things. bc they always pull on "well yja clark was an asshole" or something and translate that to comics canon even when theres just NO basis for it.
canon postcrisis comics: kon brags about getting to work with clark. kon tells clark about his rogues gallery. kon cries from joy when clark says he's family to him. when kon worries clark doesn't trust him, clark tells him he trusts him with his life and that he feels closest to him of any of the superfam. via a time travel thing, young clark says he would want kon to be able to look up to him almost like a father figure. clark teaches kon how to milk a cow. when superman's been poisoned and is slowly dying, kon says he'll do anything to save him. he admires clark so much!!!! a direct kon quote: "every time i see the guy, it's like looking at everything i wanna be!"
fanon, for some reason: clark is really cold and mean to kon. he wouldn't trust him around jon and he doesn't want him in his home. kon is really angsty about this and also very resentful of clark.
like. yeah. sure. right. tell me u have never touched a superfam comic without telling me.........

Complaining abt Suicide Squad yet again but the fact that they have Waller exposing the alien community to space racist attacks and talking abt how she got to her position through deceit and being a terrible person and stuff is just. Ahsfiwueh JUST SAY YOU DONT KNOW WALLER.
Anyways literally the 3rd mission of the Squad ever (and the first framed as smth Waller picked and not orders from above) was the Squad discrediting and stopping a rogue vigilante who was only arresting POC and funneling white people into white supremacy groups (of which he was the most prominent member) in SUICIDE SQUAD #4. and it's explicitly framed as this mission being personal for Waller that she's hiding from the government bc its illegal like. Guys. Please why are we having her incite (space bc comics) racist attacks now
Also the whole "Amanda got her position through deceit and being a terrible person" NO. she KEPT her position through being shitty and playing complicated political games!!! She wasn't always that way like there is a difference and it is IMPORTANT ppl PLEASEEEE. In Secret Origins #14 we learn Amanda's backstory and she used to be a normal, caring person! Like even after she entered into working in government and politics she wasn't automatically morally bankrupt like please people. She was originally given control of the Squad by Reagan (*sigh* 80s comics...) to distract and get rid of her because she was so successful at pushing progressive social policy in Congress. Acting like she's this static pillar of evil is such a waste of her character and so fucking uninteresting and disrespectful to her arc it drives me MAD.
Like I am NOT saying Waller is all sunshine and rainbows, she fucking SUCKS (said w love <3) but like there's a human being there. It's a progression, she has a character arc like please, DC, please!!! They've fucked up Waller so bad and made her so opaque and uninteresting she can't even be the protagonist of her own story for fucks sake!
Like I don't know how many times I have to scream it until DC hears me or remembers but WALLER IS THE MAIN CHARACTER OF SUICIDE SQUAD. ITS HER BOOK. yet right now she's a cutout to be used as the villain wherever the writers please. Even in her book we get none of her perspective really displayed, no exploration of her thoughts with any kind of understanding of the role she traditionally has played and was made to play in the story.

Hey, did you know that there are a whole bunch of color photos of the Gielgud-Burton Hamlet? From both performance and rehearsal? Because I didn't until a few hours ago! Somehow they never came up in the many, many searches I did! Until I tried to get a decent link to the previously-discovered New York Public Library collection of black-and-white photos and finally searched "hamlet burton" there and all these results I'd never seen before appeared!
That's William Redfield getting directed by John Gielgud! In color!
I don't think these are the final costumes, but here's a glimpse of how the "rehearsal clothes" concept really looked!
Burton and Yorick!
Elizabeth Taylor's birthday cake!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've downloaded 62 photos so far and have a lot more to go. Eventually I'll sort through them and post some more. In the meantime, you can find them all here!

I forget who in bookclub mentioned this (pls call yourself out and I'll @ you with credit in this post), but someone pointed out that we don't know if anyone knows what Meryl went through. What she knows. Wolfwood has a conversation with her earlier, but it's just about what Vash is, probably clueless as to their shared memories. Vash doesn't give any hints he has any idea what she's witnessed--he's so fearful of what he is and what he's capable of, it's possible he doesn't know what his powers are. Eventually, at the very earliest, it's seven months from now before we see her admit aloud what she's seen. And, hell. With how much Wolfwood and Vash tuck away and don't talk about, why would she feel like she could talk about it?
And yet, despite all that. Despite having trauma unlike anything she's ever known in her life before. Despite having trauma that no human should have to bear. Despite not being sure what to even do with that, with herself, with Vash (who she's seen witness and commit unspeakable horrors!). She still chooses kindness. She still chooses love and peace. She still chooses Vash.
We see a lot of people handle their trauma in really shitty ways in this story; in many ways, it's a story deeply about trauma. And Meryl, isolated and afraid and with this pain fresh within her, doesn't turn away from what she knows is good and worth saving on this hellhole planet. And, idk, I think that's beautiful, and I love her for it.

Realistically, I know this shot is probably more about Vash's ability to look at someone who has stolen his identity to terrorize a town without flinching or compromising his ideals, but. I just feel like. Eriks is running from Vash the Stampede. Of course, he's literally pretending not to be him for safety reasons, and tons of people have already pointed out how he resists the image people put on him as a bloodthirsty monster/weapon. Wolfwood has to convince him he needs to 'become' Vash the Stampede again. But I feel like on a more fundamental level, he hates himself and is trying to erase himself. And it's obvious in retrospect, but I didn't realize on my first readthrough that the chapter's theme of him trying to run away from his past is symbolized by him being chased by a literal doppelgänger

Remember when Emperor Kaito of the Eastern Commonwealth was so desperate to get this random mechanic that he’d met three days earlier to go to a ball with him that, after he’d been denied twice, he shouted “GO TO THE BALL WITH ME” at her in the middle of a plague research lab, and after the aforementioned flustered mechanic shoved him back into the elevator they had just exited, he had the audacity to say, “well, that got your attention,” like he DIDN’T just potentially cause an international incident
Because of Thorne it’s so easy to forget that Kai is like. Kind of insane? Like, as compared to Thorne he’s the Tired Mom Friend, but on his own he’s a lil bit of a lunatic? Love him

s3 will have rand & elayne interacting, rand & aviendha interacting, mat & elayne interacting, and almost certainly elayne & aviendha interacting, it will hopefully have cauthor cpr, it will have gawyn, and if i'm very very lucky it might even have egwene & gawyn interacting. all of my very topmost anticipated and favorite things will be arriving in s3 (bar the most anticipated and favorite thing of all, elayne, who already blessed us with her presence in s2). the first 2 seasons made me crazy enough, but s3 might just finish me off entirely. the prospect of receiving all of my Favorite WOT Things in one season is almost too overwhelming to contemplate. AAAAAHHHHH

Question: should I do a read through thread or is there a better format?
Thought I might as well make a place for any thoughts I have to not spam stuff too much idk. Probably would post a lot of Marcille, Falin, and Farcille stuff and thoughts about comparing the manga to the anime. Any format suggestions?
I'll probably make some drafts of stuff in the meantime if anything comes to me.
Also let me know what unique tag I should use so people can filter me out if preferred.
