Happy Hifuumo Friday: Touhoufest 2024 Mega Edition everyone!

I want to start this off by simply saying that I had a fucking blast on my trip. I didn't think I'd have as much fun as I did, but as it turns out, I might just be a con/cert goer, who would have thought?

A year ago I would have died just thinking about going on a trip like this. And here I am now, looking back on it fondly and already looking forward to getting next year.

Was I still kind of anxious the whole time? Certainly. But it was manageable!

I arrived a day early to get my bearings. The group I was with happened to have plans that day too, so me and the people I was with (Hi @sennypls & @DeviousPulsar on The Social Media Platform Formerly Known as Twitter💖) decided to hang out. We went to a cat cafe and then to Little Tokyo.

I thought I'd be a lot more scared of that than I actually was, which is great!

The trip to Little Tokyo was also really fun. Where I live doesn't have anything like it, so it was a nice change of pace. After that we went to the observatory and watched the sunset.

But enough about that! It's time to dive into the real subject; Touhoufest itself!

I had a /fantastic/ time there, doing pretty much everything. I attended a few panels, wandered around artist alley, just took pictures and hung out in my cosplay, it was great!

There was also a really cool garden that I spent a lot of time in. I took a photo with my friend @phanatma's (Also on The Social Media Platform Formerly Known as Twitter) Eirin fumo.

And we even met Miku!

The fumo meetup was also really nice. They had to do it in waves because of how many people came to participate in that!

I also got to meet @lyricalive & @lori-hime, and got this nice picture of them with my fumos!

And I got recognized by two fanfic authors too. They are @comfybutter and @cookiethebirdthing here on Tumblr! It was really shocking to me, and we took this picture together!

At the end of the first day, a concert was held at the venue. 'Toho Eurobeat Extravaganza' it had a lot of artists and it was /really/ cool. They even got A-ONE all the way from Japan!

Next time, I'll remember to bring earplugs. Though I had a great time regardless!

When Touhoufest actually closed on the second day we went and had hotpot together at a friend's Airbnb (Though I couldn't eat any of it because of my Crohn's sadly) before making our way to Round1, which took awhile.

I had a lot of fun watching everyone play the games!

Sadly, it had to end. I've already decided I'm going to go again next year at least. AND I'm going to learn how to sew so I can make a better cosplay.

Perhaps it’s time Ye fans come to glory on the fact that their MAGA fave’s recent antisemitic campaign is not only bigoted, cringe-worthy and legacy-tainting, but it’s also dangerous.

According to the Washington Post, the New York Police Department is investigating an alleged crime that took place in Central Park last Wednesday. The suspect, described as a man in his mid-40s, is accused of assaulting a 63-year-old man while making “numerous” antisemitic remarks and capping it all off with, “Kanye 2024!”

Comedy Director Michael Ryan Fagan was in town, so we chat it up about directing comedy for ads... and we never stop. We discuss his career directing actor Vincent Pastore from The Sopranos, among others. We debate the pros and cons of using LED walls and other virtual production techniques in commercials. MRF shares some stories about creative solutions he came up with to film spots, like using a remote controlled robot camera or taking reference photos at pharmacies. Check out his work here.

Beat Mega Man X4 (1997, 2018 Legacy Switch ver)

I liked this better than I thought I would have especially since admittedly I rage quit after playing and not finishing X1 on the Switch around 2020 due to Joy-Con Drift (grateful to play in on 3DS last year)

I think I'm getting the hang of these games more, although ironically I probably played my sloppiest here with how many lives I lost. But I also feel like the checkpoint system and where the checkpoints are placed in levels made it quite easy to persist, and the way both X and Zero played were something I got accustomed to fast.

The premise overall I can vibe with, X's story is standard stuff but Zero's was definitely more interesting (even if I already know what will happen because I played the Zero games earlier than this lol). Presentation is definitely 90s-coded. Still though I beat both player routes in a little over a day so I must have felt something really good with it.

Might be a while before I tackle X5 and the others... I've heard some of those are dreaded though oh no...

San Diego 2023, Fans kommen, aber sonst keiner? - Eine Con während der Streiks

Die diesjährige SDCC ist nicht gerade ein Mega-Hit, was die Panels und Gäste betrifft, um es vorsichtig zu formulieren. Schon vor Beginn des ersten Streiks hatten die ersten großen Franchises beschlossen gar nicht erst hinzugehen. Deswegen sah das dann bekannt gegebene Programm eher ungewöhnlich aus und hielt sich leider auch nur ein paar Tage, da die Schauspieler sich gezwungen sahen ebenfalls zu streiken zu beginnen, und da man den Besuch auf einer ComicCon als Promotion der bösen Studios, gegen die man ja streikt, ansieht, durften sie keine Panels besuchen, in denen sie für zukünftige oder vergangene Projekte von US-Studios werben, sprich in den meisten Fällen dürften sie gar keine Panels abhalten, es sei denn es würde sich um rein britische oder europäische Projekte handeln, doch selbst in diesen Fällen gab es so eine Art Loyalitätswelle, die dazu führte, dass das sowieso schon rar gesäte Programm noch mehr ausgedünnt wurde und die Panels, die abgehalten wurden, jetzt ohne die Stars auskommen mussten.

Doch das hielt diejenigen, die der Streik eigentlich treffen sollte, nicht davon ab trotzdem ihre - um so stärker besuchten - Panels abzuhalten. AMC tut ja sowieso so als gäbe es keinen der beiden Streiks, da im Rahmen des "Walking Dead"-Universe Panels verkündet wurde, dass es zweite Staffeln von "Dead City" und "Daryl Dixon" geben würde (letztere Serie hat mir ihrer Ausstrahlung noch nicht einmal begonnen), doch wer diese Staffeln schreiben und drehen soll dürfte AMC sich gar nicht erst fragen. Ursprünglich hieß es ja, dass unter den neuen Spin-Offs, die Rick und Michonne-Serie die sein wird, die von Anfang an zwei Staffeln haben sollte, doch diese Behauptung wurde inzwischen zurück genommen. Diese Serie hat jetzt kurzerhand doch noch einen neuen Titel erhalten und heißt "The Ones who live" (yep, wir halten immer noch den Contest für den dümmsten Seriennamen im TWD-Universum ab) und hat einen ersten Teaser erhalten, während die anderen beiden Serien eigentlich immer als Mini-Serien beworben waren, bis Lauren Cohan auf einmal von "fünf bis sechs Staffeln" für "Dead City" sprach, und nun kriegen Daryls Solo-Abenteuer auf einmal auch eine zweite Staffel, was wohl sowieviel heißt wie Cliffhangar-Enden für diese beiden ersten Staffeln. Mehr heißt es nicht, denn wie gesagt, ist es momentan nicht möglich diese bestellten zweiten Staffeln zu drehen.

Ähnlich realitätsfremd gab sich das "Star Trek"-Panel, das aber vor allem schon existierende Staffeln beworben hat. So darf die neue Staffel von "Lowe Decks" nach heutigem Stand im September veröffentlicht werden, was es ganz gut macht, dass die Crossover-Folge mit "Strange New Worlds" die nächste an der Reihe gewesen wäre und irregulär von Paramount+ anlässlich des Panels vorzeitig veröffentlicht wurde. Das heißt aber nicht, dass wir eine längere Pause zwischen den Episoden bekommen, außer die Reihenfolge der Episoden wird geändert, da es einen Extra-Trailer für die erste Musical-Folge in der Geschichte von Trek gab mit Startdatum für die erste Augustwoche, aber noch eine Folge zwischen der Crossover-Folge und diese Episode liegt, sprich offenbar wurde die Crossover-Folge als ComicCon-Special veröffentlicht, was dazu führt, dass in dieser Woche zwei anstelle von nur einer "Strange New Worlds"-Episode kommen. Gewisse Fans regen sich natürlich jetzt schon über die Existenz einer Musical-Folge in "Star Trek" auf, weil es ja offenbar normal ist ein Crossover mit einer Zeichentrick-Comdey-Serie mit etwas fragwürdigen Canonstatus zu machen, aber seltsam und falsch ist die Darsteller singen und tanzen zu lassen. Nun, wie auch immer, dass Staffel 3 von "Strange New Worlds" in echter Gefahr schwebt wegen der Streiks geaxt zu werden, wurde großzügig ignoriert und stattdessen wurde eine fünf Minuten-Szene aus der fünften Staffel von "Star Trek: Discovery" logischerweise ohne konkretes Startdatum abgesehen von 2024 veröffentlicht. Und nicht zu vergessen die großartige Ankündigung, man habe auf die Fans gehört und werde die erste Staffel von "Star Trek: Prodigy" auf BR und DVD veröffentlichen, was der größte Faux-Pas von Paramount seit der Ankündigung wie die vierte Staffel von "Discovery" international erscheinen wird war, weil ... wir hatten eigentlich alle angenommen, dass die Staffel sowieso auf DVD erscheint, soll das heißen, dass die nie vorhatten sie so zu veröffentlichen und es jetzt nur tun, weil sich die Fans darüber beschwert haben, dass die Serie von Paramount+ gelöscht wurde? Bedeutet das, dass wir in Zukunft nur noch dann BR/DVD-Veröffentlichungen von den Star Trek-Serienstaffeln kriegen, wenn die nicht auf Paramount+ zu sehen sind, also dass es keine Veröffentlichung der letzten Staffeln von "Picard" und "Discovery" für die physikalischen Medien geben wird solange die Staffeln streambar sind? Oder hat Paramount ernsthaft nicht verstanden, dass es uns darum ging, dass wir die so gut wie fertig gestellte zweite Staffel von "Star Trek: Prodigy" sehen wollten? Nun, wie gesagt Paramount hat die Stimmung der Fans und deren stinknormale Wünsche ja in letzter Zeit öfter als einmal falsch eingeschätzt, also vielleicht denken sie wirklich, dass wie uns damit den Größten aller möglichen Gefallen tun.

Wie gesagt wurden die meisten anderen geplanten Panels verschoben und das entsprechende Material teilweise anderswo veröffentlicht. Rotten Tomatoes hat zeitgerecht ein Making Of zur zweiten Staffel von "Good Omens" herausgebracht, das vermutlich in Wahrheit für das gestrichene Panel auf der ComicCon gedacht gewesen war. Groß eingeblendet unter den Interviews mit den Darstellern ist dabei das Datum wann die gemacht wurden, damit ja keiner denkt, dass die Briten das böse Amazon unterstützen würden. Das wird ganz witzig, wenn sie das für die Dauer des Streiks das jetzt bei all ihrem ja schon lange vorher zusammengestellten Promo-Material machen müssen, vor allem auch, weil man dann sieht wie lange die Drehabreiten zu all diesen Sachen schon her sind, wenn sie dann endlich veröffentlicht werden, was der Öffentlichkeit vielleicht endlich bewusst machen könnte, dass das wahre Problem des Streiks uns als Zuseher erst in zwei Jahren im Kino und auf den Streaming Services so richtig treffen wird, und dann hoffentlich nicht schon seit zwei Jahren anhält, aber das ist momentan leider nicht auszuschließen, da kein Interesse von Studio- und Streaming-Seite aus besteht mit auch nur einer der beiden Gewerkschaften zu verhandeln, während die SAG sich unterdessen mit einem winzigen Indepent Studio geeinigt hat um zu zeigen, dass es nicht um Geld an sich geht, sondern um faire Bezahlung und Behandlung, aber das wird Netflix, Warner, Disney und Co. genauso kalt lassen wie alles andere auch.

Die überlegen unterdessen Filme nach hinten zu verschieben. Allen voran Warner überdenkt sein Winterprogramm und will den zweiten Teil von "Dune" und den zweiten "Aquaman"-Film (ja, der lebt immer noch, auch wenn alle so tun als wäre "The Flash" das Ende vom DCEU gewesen, das hat nie jemand außer den Fans behauptet, da es ja wie gesagt immer noch diesen Film gibt und der Beginn des neuen DCUs für 2025 angesetzt war mit James Gunns Superman-Film, der sich wegen des Streiks jetzt sowieso nicht an dieses Datum halten kann) auf 2024 zu verschieben, was keine dumme Idee wäre, aber nichts löst. Aber immerhin sprechen wir hier von Warner, an Lösungen waren die noch nie interessiert.

Unterdessen freuen sich manche Fans online, dass auf der ComicCon nun endlich wieder Künstler im Mittelpunkt stehen. Was jemanden der ein Schweinegeld für eine Con wegen eines gewissen Film - oder Fernsehstars oder einen Panel zu seiner Lieblingsfranchise bezahlt hat und nun das wofür er bezahlt hat nicht bekommt, aber nicht trösten wird, im Gegenteil! Zu denken die Mehrheit der Leute würde heutzutage auf die SDCC gehen um ein Autogramm von ihrem Lieblingscomiczeichner zu kriegen geht leider an der Realität vorbei. Aber offenbar sind dieses Jahr ja alle damit beschäftigt die Realität zu verdrängen und zu verleugnen. Es gibt genug Leute, die gescheit im Internet reden und nicht mitbekommen haben, dass Hollywood von gleich zwei Streiks auf einmal lahm gelegt wird und denken der Hass von ihnen und ihresgleichen hätte endlich gewonnen und dafür gesorgt, dass Projekte verschoben und gestrichen werden. Momentan befinden sie sich leider in guter Gesellschaft, da keiner wahrhaben will was momentan wirklich los ist. Spätestens nächstes Jahr wird das dann aber so oder so nicht mehr zu verdrängen sein, weil sich bis dahin entweder alles in Wohlgefallen aufgelöst hat und sich die Projekte wie nach Covid staplen oder Hollywood endgültig implodiert ist und es gar nichts mehr zu bewerben und vorzustellen gibt.

Aber bis dahin wird es noch "interessant" für uns alle werden, wenn die einzlenen Betroffenen Parteien endlich aufwachen und was sie dann tun. Aber das ist eben kein Thema, das zur Comic Con passt.

Dopo l'anime e il film, sta per arrivare in catalogo anche la serie live action tratta dallo spinoff dell'interessante pulp mystery ideato da Kazuya Konomoto!

Trama: La serie televisiva RoOT è una storia originale basata sulle vicissitudini della coppia di giovani investigatori del manga RoOT/Route of OddTaxi, pubblicato sul sito web Darupanada Big Comic Superior. La serie dipana il mistero "umano" che circonda Sato, una sfortunata e ottimista recluta che lavora per Reina.

🔶🔸SOUND! EUPHONIUM (Stagione 3) - Dal 7 aprile

Il magistrale musical drama di Kyoto Animation (Tsurune, Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid), ispirato all'originale romanzo firmato Ayano Takeda, sta finalmente per tornare!

Le prime due stagioni dell'anime sono entrambe già su Crunchyroll, mentre il film spinoff intitolato Liz e l’Uccellino Azzurro è stato distribuito da Anime Factory, sia in streaming che in home video.

Purtroppo, rimangono ancora inediti il film Our Promise: A Brand New Day e l'OAV sull’Ensemble Contest Arc.

Trama: Eupho raggiunge finalmente l'arco narrativo del terzo anno! L'attesa stagione 3 di Sound! Euphonium inizierà in primavera. La banda de liceo Kitauji ha più di novanta musicisti. Oumae Kumiko ora è la presidentessa e fa il suo meglio per la riuscita delle ultime attività del club della sua scuola, tentando di vincere il suo a lungo agognato oro ai nazionali.

Si aggiunge al palinsesto primaverile anche la serie animata basata sull’adventure fantasy romance novel di Kuji Furumiya, in produzione presso lo studio ENGI (Uzaki-chan wa Asobitai!, La novella alchimista apre bottega).

L'adattamento televisivo è diretto da Kazuya Miura (Trapped in a Dating Sim: The World of Otome Games is Tough for Mobs, KanColle: See You Again on Another Quiet Blue Sea).

Trama: Nel tentativo di rompere una maledizione che affligge la sua casata, il principe Oscar inizia un viaggio che lo conduce da una potente e stupenda strega, Tinasha, e le chiede un accordo: un matrimonio. Anche se la proposta non la entusiasma, lei accetta di restare nel castello per un anno, mentre cerca di capire l'incantesimo che ha colpito il principe. Confermato l'arrivo dell'attesa quinta stagione della popolare action sci-fantasy romcom tratta dalla novel di Koushi Tachibana.

Come vi avevo anticipato, sta venendo realizzata dallo studio Geek Toys (Migi & Dali, Dead Mount Death Play), sempre dietro alla regia di Jun Nakagawa (Date A Bullet, Date A Live IV).

Vorrei potervi dire che ora è possibile fare un mega rewatch dall'inizio, ma in catalogo continuano ancora oggi a latitare le prime due stagioni della serie e i sottotitoli in italiano per tutto il resto, eccezion fatta per la quarta stagione... 🥲

Trama: Ragazze graziose con poteri catastrofici? Sembra un macello! Questi Spiriti generano terremoti spaziali. La soluzione? Sconfiggerle… o sedurle. Come era prevedibile, è arrivato con largo anticipo l'annuncio della trasmissione in simulcast della nuova serie action fantasy firmata dall'autore di DanMachi.

Con un epico primo teaser è stato annunciato ufficialmente che il manga, firmato da , ispirerà una serie il cui debutto è fissato per luglio.

L'adattamento del manga creato da Fujino Omori, assieme a Toshi Aoi, è affidato ad Actas (Princess Principal, Girls und Panzer) e Bandai Namco Pictures (Malevolent Spirits: Mononogatari, Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun).

La serie è scritta e diretta da Tatsuya Yoshihara (Black Clover, Monster Musume: Everyday Life with Monster Girls).

Trama: Uno stacanovista ragazzo chiamato Will si iscrive in un'accademia di magia perché vuole diventare un grande stregone. Sfortunatamente, c'è un dettaglio alquanto fatale per il suo piano: non ha l'abilità di usare la magia. Gli annunci si chiudono, per ora, con la serie dell'isekai fantasy slice of life comedy di Shizuru Minazuki.

A portare la storia della light novel in tv troviamo Atsushi Nigorikawa (Beast Tamer, Genie Family - Il ritorno del Mago Pancione), che sta dirigendo il progetto presso lo studio EMT Squared (Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear, Fluffy Paradise), ormai specializzato in pucciosità seriale!

Trama: Kayano Takumi viene ucciso casualmente da un dio e si reincarna. Gli vengono concesse molte abilità e si ritrova in una pericolosa foresta infestata da mostri in un altro mondo. Nel fitto della foresta, Takumi incontra una ragazzina e un ragazzino che gli ricordano i suoi due gemelli, decide così di prendersi cura di loro e li chiama Allen ed Elena. Sorpreso della facilità con cui sconfiggono i mostri con le loro abilità combattive, Takumi va in città e si registra nella gilda degli avventurieri, per poterli crescere. Iniziano così le sue tranquille avventure, mentre guarda Allen ed Elena che crescono!
