Ed is by far the prettiest person in all of Namimori middle and a majority of the student body has had a crush on him, but no one would say that to his face

They’ve seen the fights he gets into with Hibari

(Hibari also definitely tries to force the Sawada’s into the DC and fails bc you can’t out stubborn an Elric unless you’re and Elric or Izumi Curtis)

Ed is the accidental male idol of Namimori Elementary and Middle school and it's fucking hilarious how confused he is about the entire situation. But then the fights with Hibari start getting more and more violent and public and his idol status gets a little weird.

There may be war shrines dedicated to him on camps somewhere.

On the other hand, Al, the other and more traditional idol of the school, takes it all in stride with good humor.

How would your rendition of the Namimori High School uniform look like? Colors, ties/bows etc.

How would it differ from the Namimori Middle school uniform?

I absolutely love questions like this! I’ve actually thought about it quite a bit. We never get to see a Nami High student other than that one anime-only karate club guy, who wasn’t even wearing a uniform. I didn’t want to go for something too flashy, but I did want to give them an air of sophistication and a bit of maturity with the colors. I outlined the key differences in the artwork, but here are some additional notes:

The Nami Middle girls’ uniform had a box pleated skirt. This uniform uses a knife pleat, much like Haru’s Midori Middle outfit.

Sports teams would follow suit with the colors; Yamamoto’s baseball uniform would ideally have maroon red lettering.

Their ubawaki (indoor shoes) are just plain white/cream, with a brown sole. Outdoor loafers are black to match their ties.

The winter jacket is a darker, more saturated maroon that can be paired with the red or grey sweater vest for a layering effect.

Fall/spring uniforms also have the typical top variations (thin knit sweater, button-up cardigan, etc.)

Katekyo Hitman Reborn!: Namimori Location

(Documenting my research process so I won't forget and get confused why I did something in a fic during a later read through. Nothing serious really.)

Where exactly is Namimori in canon?

As I was writing a khr fic, I realized I needed the exact location of Namimori for one sentence. A sentence that wasn't even important in the long run. Rather than abandon that single sentence I decided to try and locate where the town of Namimori would be in Japan. Because apparently I like pain.

There is virtually no information on the actual location of Namimori anywhere. So I had went on a research binge. And I found something that gave me a starting point.

In 2009, there was a special KHR episode that was aired during the Jump Super Anime Tour titled, Vongola Style School Trip, Arrives!

Saying that I found it is not that accurate. Its more that I went looking for an episode like this specifically. This isn't the first time I tried to locate fictional locations on a map for the sake of the plot. And I've realized that episodes centered around trips provide amazing clues, especially where the trip starts, where it ends, the scenery outside etc.

Thats what I hoped for here as well. And the hunch paid off! Between timestamps 3:07-3:10, there's a map. Not very detailed mind you. Just enough to show the direction where they came from. But that's better than nothing.

So they're going to Nagoya city, which is in the Aichi Prefecture. Its in the Chūbu region. It also looks like they're coming from the Kanto region, possibly from the direction of Tokyo.

So that means we can leave out the Kansai, Chugoku, Shikoku, and Kyushu regions in the south. There's no way Namimori is in Hokkaido, or Okinawa, so those two prefectures are out as well. The most likely locations for the town to be in is in the Kanto, and Chubu regions.

Comparing the physical map of Japan with the short glimpse we get, I'm reasonably sure they passed by Mt. Fuji as well.

See that little protrusion under Fuji-san? I'm pretty sure thats what we see in the map shown in the episode. So yeah they passed Mount Fuji.

Another thing, see that arch like thing before the protrusion? Thats Kanagawa prefecture, and we can see in the very beginning of the video, around the 0.03-0.04 timestamps, that they don't start anywhere there.

See? They pass by it completely and started somewhere well before Kanagawa. So Kanagawa is out.

Lets go back to Fuji-san again.

The mountain lies between the Yamanashi and Shizuoka prefecture borders.

That gives us three possible routes:

Chiba-> Tokyo-> Yamanashi-> Shizuoka-> Aichi [Nagoya City}

Tokyo-> Yamanashi-> Shizuoka-> Aichi [Nagoya City}

Yamanashi -> Shizuoka -> Aichi [Nagoya City]

Why did I decide on Tokyo as the starting point in Kanto despite there being other prefectures in the region?

In KHR's seventh volume, Hot Summer Arrives!, we get chapter 57, Swimming at the Sea. Its a beach chapter.

The beach is described as being close by and the fact that Ryohei's boxing club senpai, Kuroda Eiji and his buddies Kisanuki Yukio and Ookura Takuya, apparently work there as lifeguards, supports this. (You know...cos they're in middle school and all and jobs at that age tend to be close by...for civilians at least.)

Which means that prefectures like Saitama, Tochigi, and Gunma, which are all landlocked as you can see on the map below, are automatically disqualified as locations for Namimori.

By that same logic, Yamanashi is also disqualified.

Ibaraki is not counted because despite the abrupt beginning and ending of the map scene in the episode, we can guess that the starting point of the trip wasn't quite that far back. By the curve of the arrow I mean. {Yeah I know this is a reach but I'm pretty sure I'm right.}

That just leaves Tokyo and Chiba.

The argument in favour of Chiba is a meta one. Tokyo is an iconic location when it comes to manga and anime. Most anime set in Tokyo shows several shenanigans centered around Tokyo's various landmarks. Even works not set in Tokyo sometimes have Tokyo episodes and Tokyo adventures. Like Haikyuu for example.

Considering how much shenaniganry and crackishness KHR has, it would be very strange if it was set in Tokyo and yet didn't have any Tokyo misadventures in it. Reborn would just go ahead and name Tokyo Tower Vongola Tower or something just like he named Nagoya Castle Vongola Castle. So Namimori might not be in Tokyo, but in Chiba instead...which is still part of the Greater Tokyo Area now that I think about it, so still Tokyo in a way?

I couldn't find a way to clearly articulate an argument in favour of Tokyo when a friend send me this link.

I was walking on a path well-tread! @ladydraculena had already slashed through the figurative jungles for me!

I went looking for the two locations marked in the map in their post but it seems like Namimori Steamed Buns has since closed down. Hibari Nursery School on the other hand is going strong.

With this information the argument in favour of Tokyo grew much stronger.

Thus canonically the town of Namimori is most likely located in Tokyo and if not in Tokyo proper, definitely in the Greater Tokyo Area.

(Please note that I left the Tohoku region out of this. The region is very distinct and neither anime nor the manga has shown a singular sign of being set in Tohoku. By that I mean that if a work is set in Tohoku, it would be impossible to hide its Tohoku, or mistake it as somewhere else.)

Edit: @rooigseix pointed out that since most of KHR's usual shenanigans strictly happens in Namimori, the usual Tokyo adventure trope meta might not be applicable in this case. Namimori might be far away from Tokyo centre like the Ota or Edogawa districts, which are close to the sea as well.

Edit: @lightning-will-bovino pointed out Kokuyo land and there is in fact a theme park called Noah Forest Amusement Park or Mori-no-Yeunchi near the Hibari Nursery School!

It seems very likely that Amano-sensei was inspired by the area. It might not be where Namimori is actually located but the existence of these establishments in close quarters lends further credence to the theory of Namimori being in the Tokyo area.

In conlusion, the most likely location of Namimori would be in Tokyo prefecture but close to the Chiba border. Not landlocked as well.

Thus, Edogawa ward is the most suitable location.

And after all of that, I decided that Tokyo wasn't a good fit for my fic's Namimori and by my magical writer powers shifted it to Mie Prefecture instead. ╥﹏╥

I think he would be so happy if he gets invited to Super Smash Bros lmao He's gonna have so much fun with his opponents.

I'm still amazed at how him being Disciplinary Committee Leader is so win-win for him. He loves his peace and quiet, so he'd be satisfied when no commotion happens for the day. But then he also loves fighting, so he'd gladly bite to death any fodder who does cause any commotion/does any crowding (it lowkey still does annoy him but still-- hahaha). Yamamoto : Idol of Namimori. He gets along everyone but keep distance from everyone, it makes him more idolized.

Gokudera : One of the girls says, "He's scary, but that's what makes him cool". That's it. Its atmosphere attracts the interest of their generation.

Ryohei : He may not have the idol-like popularity above. But I think there are several students seriously in love with him because the experience he saved them in danger situation.

Hibari : He is out of anyone's league. Everyone appreciates his beauty, but won't approach him out of fear and faith. Like,"if you can see his face without get hurt, it's your lucky day"

English teacher Dino : Okay let's see..., don't you think the life would be crazy if once you get to know the man like him in middle school?

Street Racer Tsuna AU

Total honesty when I say this is inspired by my new and growing fascination with Initial D

I’m gonna be spitballing here so apologies in advance for the way this is written. There’s a bit of back and forth, and nothing is really in any sort of order.

If we push Reborn and Tsuna’s meeting back a few years, like say until the second or last year of High School rather than Middle School, then Tsuna can have a few years of experience with driving and realistically about a year of experience with street racing

I’m thinking that Tsuna is still the town loser - that never goes away for him unfortunately - but he creates an Alter Ego for driving

The alter ego has to be masked — “no one knows what they look like” kind of mystery. Maybe he even dresses differently when acting as his alter ego - a completely different aesthetic to further separate himself

He definitely uses a different name because everyone in Namimori knows about Dame-Tsuna. Maybe those also in the street racing game name him rather than him coming up with and giving himself a name — probably for the best honestly

I kind of want his alter ego to be the complete opposite of his own self image — confident, smart, brave, popular/liked — for the dichotomy

Take it a step further and Tsuna views himself and his alter ego as two separate people because he doesn’t actually believe he can be all those things in regular life — make him view his alter ego as a Lie; it's all acting; nothing about it is Truth and isn't who he really is (otherwise, why is he still Dame-Tsuna?)

I know nothing about cars so I'm just going to skip over that part of this

Nana is completely in the Know about this because I enjoy the headcanon that she has some crazy/weird past that allows her to be completely calm and positive in the face of everything -- so in this au her crazy/weird past is that she used to be a street racer that was never unmasked/discovered

As such it is Nana who is taught Tsuna how to drive — she's so excited to have a new bonding activity with her son and to see him visibly excited about something and actively striving to be good at it

However it's been a good decade since she's driven as a racer — she's still good but she wants the Best for her son because this is the first time he's taking initiative about something and isn't giving up; she wants him to keep this

So she calls up some old friends for some help

Cue Tsuna being mentored by several people in the several areas involved in street racing— from actual driving, the various techniques, and how to/what to do in different weather/terrain, to the parts of the car, how to fix a car, how to avoid/minimize a crash/collision; etc..

I will give Tsuna a support system of capable adults damn it!!

Most of these people will OCs but wouldn’t it amazing if one of them happened to be Skull De Mort?

The sheer possibilities of how Nana and he met— though that would mean the timeline for the Arcobaleno curse needs some handwaving magic applied to it

Oh, how about instead of Nana knowing Skull personally, it’s one of the OCs who knows a guy that knows a guy that knows a guy etc���

Ah but would introducing Skull and thus gaining a cursory introduction to the Mafia what this AU needs so early on?

Maybe Tsuna can simply become a fan of Skull and make his first meeting with him happen while Reborn has already come to town to add that extra whiplash of his student liking Skull more than him

On the topic of Reborn, since Tsuna would be older and have more confidence (not publicly as Tsuna but years of “faking it” would have some sort of affect), he would be more annoyed with Reborn’s antics than anything

Tsuna would like you to know that he has a good thing going here! He won’t let something as stupid as his bloodline get in the way of that!

I want Tsuna to double down on his rejection of being the Decimo

But that’s a bit later in the AU so let’s get back to Tsuna becoming a Street Racer

I’m not yet sure how Tsuna gets interested in street racing specifically, because ya’know that’s illegal and not something a regular civilian just comes across without outside influence

What I do know is that, rather than being like the protagonist in Initial D, Tsuna doesn’t gain a winning streak

He has too many insecurities and self doubt that he’s still in the process of tuning out to successfully have a winning streak

He is, however, Talented — thank you Hyper Intuition for being a tool that can be used to turn this boy into something great — and that gets noticed

No one can truly deny that he’ll be a force to be reckoned with once he gets more experience under his belt (and genuine confidence in himself)

But being Talented isn’t enough to get him his own name/title so I propose that he becomes Known as a racer that takes high/dangerous risks when driving and always pulls them off somehow

He doesn’t need to win a bunch of races in a row to be impressive as hell

Tsuna still does win some races of course— this an eventual-BAMF Tsuna au and he could use the confidence boost of a win

Imagine an outside perspective right before the ring battles. Just some Namimori Middle student. Who for the last week has seen Hibari and some Italian guy full on fighting no holds barred nonstop on the school roof. Just. They haven't stopped they're still going. The police haven't interfered nobody else has interfered they're just duking it out.

Imaging sitting in class with a view of that rooftop and everyone acting completely normal while a death battle is happening literally in view they haven't even moved anywhere more sensible.

“The future,” Ayame said flatly.

Tsuna laughed nervously. They had landed back into the present, in their proper timezone, to find that only five minutes had passed. Meishi confirmed with a questioning thrill that she had seen the pink smoke but when it cleared, there had still been Tsuna and his friends when she looked across all of Namimori, in the places where she had seen them walking and moving.

Ayame had, three minutes ago, arrived in panic in search for him. Mukuro was right behind her, saying he had lost contact with Chrome who had left seven minutes earlier to meet the other girls.

It had been bad luck that this swap happened during the transition where they had been traveling to their destination that morning. No one knew exactly where the others were.

Ayame had been working herself up into a full on panic mode when she realized all the protections she had placed on Tsuna and his friends had vanished.

Tsuna himself had found him on the pathway to school. Though why he was headed to school, he had no idea since it was out for summer vacation, much less why back to Namimori Middle given he was officially transferred out.

At best guess, the past!Tsuna that the future!Tsuna had tried to summon, landed here and didn’t realize the difference and went on with his day.

“A parallel dimension’s future,” Ayame said flatly, eyes squeezed shut.

“I can’t believe I didn’t get to go,” Hana complained.

“I second this,” Mukuro said darkly.

“What was it like?” Dino asked.

“Horrible,” Kyoko said.

“Tsuna was dead, except not really,” Takeshi said. His smile was gone, allowing the upset emotions color his face.

“Future me is an asshole,” Tsuna said. “Please do not let me turn like that.”

“I’ll bite you to death if you do,” Kyoya said.

“A parallel dimension’s future where you’re Decimo and we never met,” Ayame said flatly.

People (including me) emphasize Hibari's distaste for crowding but completely forget that, in the chapter/episode he was introduced in, Hibari participated in a conference with other committee leaders about the room assignments for their respective committees.

This implies that Hibari doesn't mind "crowding" so long as it serves a logical purpose to him, such as reinforcing the discipline of Namimori Middle School. He also never goes against any club gatherings (i.e. Baseball club, boxing club) or school sport events (i.e. volleyball tournament, sports festival), merely ensuring that everyone follows the rules.

However, if members who serve no purpose gather together, it sets him off. Which is why it's emphasized that, when the plant life committee contradicted Hibari's disciplinary committee's assigned room, his problem wasn't that they voiced their opposition to him but that they gathered an unnecessary number of members to do it.

Personally, I read this as Hibari disliking how, when alone, such people would have little to no confidence in confronting him, but suddenly when they group together, they think they're stronger than him? It may be the implied insult to Hibari's strength that gets to him.

This is also supported by his statement that, "The weaker you are, the more you want to be part of a group." Although this is probably obvious, I still want to point out that this implies that Hibari's distaste for crowds stems from his distaste of weakness (in general). He doesn't really mind if strong people gather together because, for him, it's probably just free real estate (i.e. more people to fight).

Hibari's character song, "Akashi", also emphasizes his belief in how the weak will die until only the strong remain, and the continued existence of strong people is his unerring proof.

Haru was playing with the birds at Hibari's desk as she finds herself doing every so often (after school hours, mind you. She did make an agreement). She didn't have a habit of checking out what was on the desk because that'd be rude.

Though, when one of the birds hopping along the desk hopped over the note, her eyes caught sight of her name. She may not want to be a snoop, but curiosity killed the cat and she must know why her name was written! Next to the notepad was a laminated four leaf clover bookmark and she tilts her head in confusion.

Was this a gift for her? For what reason? Was he... 'Is this a threat that Haru is coming too close to dying and so she needs luck if she wants to survive!?' Gasp! No no, she shakes her head. Haru's luck stat had to be higher than that! There's no way she was close to death that many times, right?

Did Hibari-san know of her birthday? 'Ahhh Tsuna-san must have said something about it!' Haru (delusional) Miura, everyone. She takes the bookmark with a smile. It was cute and she appreciated the sentiment.

She writes a small message [thank you! Haru loves it!] on the notepad. "It's a good thing Haru already has plans for his birthday, ne?" She pets a small bird on the head.

Kurumi (Boss/Sky): A super charming and outgoing fashionista who possess extraordinary strength and a friendly nature. She specializes in hand-to-hand combat, but does have a greatsword.

Minato (Storm): A hot-headed and mean delinquent who loves fighting. He's not the right-hand man, but he wants to become the right-hand man really badly. He has a personal grudge against Yui.

Hiyori (Sun): A member of Namimori Middle School's Health Committee and an assistant at the school clinic. He would prefer to not get involved in illegal things like the yakuza. Unfortunately...

Yui (Right-hand man/Lightning): A genius mechanic and jokester, who often skips classes but passes anyway. He likes staying behind the scenes. He's also bestfriends with the Kana & Kurumi.

Rei (Mist): A seemingly perfect student but is actually a schemer beneath the facade. His hobbies include making money and conning people. He's an illusionist (unsurprised).

Shiki (Cloud): A snobby and moody nerd with a talent for sniping. He only follows the people he admires and rejects anyone else otherwise. He is bestfriends with Rei (actually genuine).

Rosa (Rain): A skillful and dutiful maid who smoothly handles both home cleaning and battlefield cleaning. While Kana & Kurumi are her masters, she also sees them as younger siblings.

Kana (Boss/Sky): A cold and asocial leader with a talent for killing. She cherishes her "family", especially her twin sister. An old soul that hates it when people get in her way. Don't get in her way.

King laughed, sounding a bit embarrassed but not in an ashamed manner. They rubbed their hands across their knees, their palms coasting across the rough fabric. Their gaze was distant, and voice barely there, as their mind wandered back to the dream.

"Yeah."

Dreams rarely made sense. It was one of the few places King knew for a fact were dreams and not nonsensical real worlds. Usually dreams were defined by inane things like mustard cupcakes, or something weird in the location that defined it as not a real world. This one had one specific trait that noted it as definitely a dream. The scenery was Namimori, Japan. Specifically just outside the middle school. Likely because it was the scenery King was most familiar with that would include her... They were having a picnic. Supposedly they were waiting on someone? King wasn't sure who, every time Haru said the name it was like a bird decided to chirp unnecessarily loud at that exact moment. After the third time King just shrugged and started to unpack the drinks, waiting on the food. Surely anyone Haru had around wasn't a bad person. Time blurred, and a few others arrived the food was mysteriously out, and everyone had a drink or snack in hand. Now what made it definitely a dream, was some of them spoke in French. FRENCH of all things. King understood it perfectly fine, but it was weird, hearing them speak and laugh about perfectly normal things, in a language most of them probably didn't know. Someone made a pun in French, and another replied in Japanese, and King's confusion grew even more. Either way, it seemed Haru organized the party, and both she and King made the food and got the drinks... Well, aside from it being in French, it seemed like a successful event...

King's mind drifted back and they smiled to Haru, offering a shrug, not explaining the dream, and instead offering their thoughts on it.

"We should organize a picnic for the whole group to get together again."
