Based on the One (1) Vanilla (Non-corrupt/enlightened) Mistspren, Dreaming-Though-Awake, I'm going to assume Mistspren names are based on the ways one might try to describe a word they can't quite place. Dreaming when you're awake is just Daydreaming.
Like how Truthwatcher is that, Radiant Order of Finding and Understanding External Truths*, where you have the truth juuuuust out of reach so you try and scrape together the words you do have in order to describe it.
*It hasn't been properly confirmed through text that Truthwatcher Oaths are external truths. (Like I think one of Renarin's oaths was discovering his visions could be wrong. I can't remember if that was confirmed as an oath or not lol.)
I can't remember if this has been discussed in the fandom, but a lot of the oaths are like. Internal and External coded just like Mistborn Allomancy. Windrunners are Internal Honor. Skybreakers: External Honor. Dustbringers: Internal Mastery. Edgedancers: External (Community) Mastery. Truthwatchers: External Truth. Lightweavers: Internal Truth. Elsecallers: Internal Limit-breaking (idk if that's the right word but here we are). Willshapers: External Limit-breaking (setting others free). Then we get to fucking Stonewards and my pattern gets a bit fumbled because we have soooooo little, but that's not going to stop me. Are they uniting The Self for Power Reserve/Tanking Purposes? They have the ability to harden non-living things like clothing. Therefor tightening the Axioms together. Internal Bonding (Literally!). Anyways if that's the case then Bondsmiths are uniting external forces.
Anyways that went way off tangent from me hypothesizing about Mistspren naming conventions. Welcome to my twisted (adhd) mind I guess.

I'm just sitting here thinking about Dalinar and Lift sitting in school desks that Dalinar is WAY too big for as Navani teaches them both how to read.
Dalinar is a total teachers pet, bringing Navani the proverbial apple and Lift is being the chaos child she is, provokes an argument in class with Dalinar on who would win in a fight: red fish? Or blue fish? While Navani is practically yelling the more relevant information to get their attention "ONE FISH, TWO FISH!"

The way Dalinar loves and the way Evi fights
This feels like it's too long for a reblog so I'm making a new post. I'm thinking about that awesome post about the way Dalinar fights and the way Evi loves and rotating it around in my head like it's in the microwave...
I wanna see this from the other side too because I think the Kholin bros also fight like their mother and love like their father.
Dalinar loves from beneath a person, putting them on a pedestal. He loves by saying, “I don’t deserve you.” He loves by saying, “I’ll try harder." He witnesses himself fail to live up to what he feels they should get, but he never stops trying. He holds onto the pain of falling short as a way of dedicating himself to that person.
Adolin does this when he idolizes his father, and when Dalinar notices, "When the boy gets chastised, he just tries harder." He does this with Shallan when he says he doesn't understand her but he'll keep trying. He does it with Maya!
Renarin does this as he tries so hard to serve his father, to live up to his expectations, knowing he'll fail and trying again anyway. He does this when he serves Bridge Four, even though he feels like he isn't worthy of them. The way he loves through humility and service will make him an excellent leader, but without the influence of his mother, he could become gullible like Dalinar.
Now the way Evi fights. She fights from a place of knowing herself deeply and respecting her values. She doesn't fight just because she knows she can win, she fights because it's right. She fights by seeing the truth of the situation and then courageously going forward anyway. She fights even when she knows she can't win. She is afraid, and she still separates herself from her homeland for an uncertain future. She is afraid, and she still speaks her mind. She will tell the truth as she sees it, despite her very real fear for the consequences.
Adolin does this, too. He chooses his fights based on his values. He fights by getting to know the enemy first, and he stays aware of what's going on around him. He knows himself and his capabilities. He can stay calm during the fight. He doesn't just go where he's pointed, he needs to know why and he needs to agree with it.
Renarin is still learning this way of fighting, I think. He is still learning to respect himself. He is seeing the truth, and learning to speak it. For me, this is when he is the most exciting - when he is finding his voice. As much as he wants to be like his father, he will be most powerful when he learns to fight like his mother.

⚠️ Full Stormlight Archive Spoilers ahead!!!
My toxic trait is that I think the Davar soulcaster belonged to Shallan from day one and that Lin promised it to the Ghostbloods at some point and that's why they're riding the Davar's asses about it. I might be misremembering, but there was something about that scene where Shallan mentioned to Mraize the GBs lent the soulcaster to them, and there's SOMETHING about the way Mraize replied that felt like a lie. I'm convinced he rolled with Shallan's memory-twist bc if he said "no your dad promised it to us in the first place in exchange for figuring it how it worked" she might reclaim it / turn the situation around on him. (She wouldn't bc she's riding on self-deceit.)
The theory actually gets wibbly when Jasnah is looking at the soulcaster and says that, no, it's fake also. But what makes a soulcaster fake and what makes it real? Is definitely the metal. But maybe Shallan, with her dissassociative lightweaving shenanigans, light weaved it to look fake??
Either way, the biggest clue IMO is when we first met Testament, her inkspren buddy said he found her on an island in the East, then traveled to Nameless together. Nameless is just South of Urithiru, which is the center of the super continent. To the East of Nameless is Khabranth, then the Frostlands, and oh, I don't know, the place where the Wind's Pleasure sank?? You know... where the soulcaster was lost "forever"??
"But Megs, there's the matter of the scene where Shallan takes out Tyn. We don't know if that was Testament or Pattern!" STILL THE FROSTLANDS. STILL EAST OF NAMELESS. So are the Shattered Plains, where Shallan opened the Oathgate. That may have been where Shallan finally dumped Testament once and for all. A little island to the East.
Shallan also can't soulcast worth a single lavis grain. It wouldn't surprise me if Soulcasting reminds her of her time back home. Can't be remembering too much about that time by repeating something you might've done in secret, like making mineral deposits to help your parents' financial troubles, and risk all that guilt and shame crashing down and breaking her for good, right? Soulcasting is heavily tied to Testament, while Lightweaving is tied to Pattern. Compartmentalization, baby!!!!
There's also the Nostalgia that floods Veil when she first holds the communication box to Mraize. There's something very interesting going on there. The Davar's are connected with Ba-ado-mishram. The Ghostbloods REALLY want BAM. Little Shallan finding a communication cube, either pilfered from her father's study out of curiosity? Maybe dropped my accident? Maybe dropped on purpose? 🤔
Anyways there's my crack theory hope it actually makes sense thank you for coming to my TED talk. 👁👄👁💅

I really like that szeth is written and treated like a force of nature rather than a human being. I think hes really funny, but only because hes so unnerving. I think brandon does over the brooding character/sunshine character a bit too much, but i think nightblood was a very good addition to accompany szeths personality. Nightblood isnt human, doesnt act or talk human, yet they still feel more alive and human than szeth does. I think brandon did a genuinely good job with him.

So I’m finally getting around to watching Orphan Black.
First of all - amazing show. I’ve been missing out. Second Tatiana Maslany has to have received awards or something for her performance right? She’s brilliant.
It was all going great and I made it to 3x06 quite happily thank you. But why’d they have to kill Paul? And the way he died? The loyalty? The sacrifice?
I cant.
RIP. You’ll be missed.

orphan black - 5x10
-  okay, normally don’t do posts that ‘commemorate’ me finishing a series but! here we are. i finished orphan black. five minutes ago. and also 5 years late lol.
i loved it, even though it brought me severe pain at times, the joy and fun i had watching outweighed that. tatiana maslany is truly a wonder, deserves way more emmys than she has, and the mcu truly doesn’t deserve a force like her.
anyway! i loved following each and every character throughout their journey, so much that it’s hard for me to pick a single favourite. i could go on and on about all the little details i enjoyed, but i do not want this post to be too long. if you haven’t watched it and it seems like something you’d like watch it :) even if it isn’t, watch it anyhow lol. i’m glad i had fun with this show, gave me something to think about and sink my teeth into. i don’t know how to finish this post other than: expect me to continue reblogging/posting about this show for a while lol. it definitely has solidified a place in my heart.
