THE ROARING 20s
PART I
Travel back to the 1920s for this massive Prohibition era-themed New Years party, set at Chicago’s very own City Hall. The Chicago skyline serves as the decadent celebration’s backdrop, featuring live DJ sets, jazz, burlesque dancers, and custom cocktails. Expect food, dancing, and large scale art installations. A state of the art light show will be projected onto the side of City Hall and will be accompanied by a stunning pyrotechnic display.
No matter the occasion, parties thrown by the Washington family promise a good time—and a glittering gala to welcome in 2020 sounds like it’ll be the best time. The Washingtons ring in the new year with optimism. If the streets of the city have been painted crimson by the tumultuous gang relations, the mayor and his family are determined to convince Chicago’s citizens that it doesn’t have to be this way. A new year, a new Chicago. Strategically set in neutral territory on the evening of January 4th, this party welcomes all of the city to attend.
You’re free to start plotting & crafting your character’s attire now. Posting aesthetics or outfits for the party should be under crimson.event.
You can start posting starters/threads tomorrow, January 4th 2020, 3pm PST!  The event will run until January 8th.
(plot slots can be found below the cut ! )
PLOT SLOT RULES:
In order to keep things fair, we’re going to allow one character per plot slot right now. If there are any leftovers, we’ll let members know when they can sign up for seconds.
You’ll notice that some of these plots are public, so feel free to have your character react to them/ notice them even if they aren’t happening directly to your character. However, if something feels like it happened privately to another character, please check in with their Mun to see if it’s okay for your character to know.
To be clear: these are not the only things that happen to your character during this plot drop and you are more than welcome to cook up your own trouble. (If you want to get into some real shenanigans and have an idea, hit us admins up and we’ll find a way to make it work!)
To sign up for a plot slot message the main! You can start doing that as soon as right now!
FINNIGAN O’SHEA arrives at the New Year Party already plastered and mistakes CHARACTER B for their date.
INGRID VASILE & CHARACTER D are holed up in the janitor’s closet doing god knows what after accepting pills from a stranger.
SERENITY MICHAELS & ELLIOT HARPETH get lost in the City Hall rooftop garden. None of them bother to check the rooftop door and assume they are locked up on the roof until CHARACTER G opens it to find them.
JAVIER LEON notices people they’ve never seen before. A group of them actually, and is conflicted if they should let security know. Instead they get distracted when NORAH HEMMINGS pulls them onto the dance floor.
CHARACTER J throws a molotov cocktail aiming for the holographic balloon wall. Instead, they catch CASIMIR ‘CASH’ WOLFF‘s leg on fire.
RAEJEANNE JOLLEY  shows up dateless but ends up matching with BOONE WALSH
MICAH RANSONE smuggles in what they think is their own food in a cooler. However, they open it instead it full of firearms. DANIEL FAUST meets with JUNO SONG to trade weapons, and instead opens a cooler with random appetizer dishes. Those fried mozzarella sticks aren’t going to save that bullet hole, buddy.
BREE REEVES drunkenly confesses their gang affiliation to SEAN O’SHEA. SEAN O’SHEA gets separated from BREE REEVES but reunites when they try to leave the building.
SAM O’SHEA & BARNABY  EATON thought it would be a good idea to light firecrackers...inside the city hall. CHARACTER U ( gang affiliate) mistakes it for gunfire and signals affiliated group to take out their weapons. REMINGTON MOON is injured by firecrackers and deaf as fuck.
EVA CLARKE notices Matty Faust at the party and tries to make a grab for him. PHILLIP DAPHNE tries to fight them away. EVA CLARKE is successful and takes Matty to Oliver Faust.
CHARACTER Y starts to serenade the entire New Years Party by singing along to London Bridge. They don’t realize that ZAHARA WENTWORTH is really screaming “Oh Shit!” because they just stumbled onto someone being crucified.
CHARACTER A1 & CHARACTER B1 are victims of a mass confetti bomb that erupts way before it was supposed to courtesy of EFFIE FAUST.
ALASTAIR TULACH vomits outside in the alleyway after too much to drink. They are also the only witness to seeing the security guards outside get neutralized.
FRANCESCA WEIZMANN is tasked with trying to sneak into the mayor’s office. Whether it is part of the plan or by pure accident CHARACTER F1 provides a distraction for them. They are able to extra ITEM OF THE ADMIN CHOICE from the mayor’s desk.
BAXTER WOODLEY & CHARACTER H1 get lost in the hallways of city hall. Through all their drunken stumbling, they are unable to find their way back until the screams of horror lead them to where they need to be.
CHARACTER I1 is delivered a mysterious package that has the name NAME OF FC. Before they are able to look over the contents, CHARACTER J1 smacks it out of their hands.
DARCY FAUST discovers a lost Great Dane with the tag ‘BOWIE’ on it covered in blood. They decide to KEEP BOWIE.
DANTE MORALES takes a champagne glass with an engagement ring at the bottom of the glass. They just so happen to be standing by CHARACTER M1 that was going to propose.
LORENZO CAVALLI & RAVEN VASILE gets suckered into watching after the kids at the party. Stop to sit for one second, and somehow get handed multiple children by partygoers.
POPPY LEVENBERG is joined by RICHIE O’SHEA to watch the firework display outside of the party. They find themselves unable to get back into the venue by normal means.
MIKHAIL MOROSOV finds ZELDA BLACK’s burner phone. Blackmail material.
CHARACTER T1 puts on a RAT costume trying to be clever with the Chinese Zodiac. However, they get stuck inside the rat costume. They are stuck in the outfit for the rest of the party. CHARACTER XX tries to help them out but is unsuccessful.
BIRDIE MENDOZA drunkenly picks a bouquet of flowers from the rooftop garden and gives it to DAHLIA CAVALLI.
SAMANTHA REDFORD accidentally gets handcuffed to ELI VOGEL thinking they handcuffs are cheap party favors.
CHRISTOPHER FAUST & CHARACTER A2 pause the festivities to enthrall the audience in a brutal fist fight. Neither wins, but both leave with minor injuries.
AMELIA O’SHEA overhears a classified conversation courtesy of a loose-lipped Vasile. AMELIA O’SHEA warns AUDREA DE GUINNESS & THEODORE ‘TEDDY’ COHEN to leave the building before all hell breaks loose. They’re too late as the Vasiles call the room’s attention.

THE PINKERTON FILE ON COCO SMITH
Tumblr media
The following is the notes that have been compiled on the outlaw known as Coco Smith by various agents within the Pinkerton Agency.
While the agency has no actual name and official identification for Smith, the alias they use most often is Coco Smith, thus the agency have used it. Other aliases include Joan Dark, Mary Catherine Borgia, Marilyn West, Jayne Harlow, Marian Hawke, Jane Shepard, Penelope Weaver, Heather McCain, Brigid O’Shea, Therese Lourdes, Teresa Bernini, and Lucrezia Caravaggio.
Smith has been implicated in several murders, thefts, kidnappings, and cons, however no investigation has produced anything concrete. But due to the amount of crimes Smith has appeared to be involved with, the agency has decided to keep an eye on her.
Known and suspected associates include Sean MacGuire (outlaw and known associate of Dutch Van Der Linde), Josiah Trelawney (conman and another associate of Van Der Linde), Clive Davies and Clay Davies (brothers and known horse thieves), Madam Nazar (supposed psychic and ‘seller of exotic goods’), Flaco Hernandez (known outlaw, also wanted by the agency), and Marko Dragic (Serbian inventor).
It has been noted that she is particularly hated by members of the Lemoyne Raiders, and what appears to be remaining members of the defunct Ku Klux Klan.
Opinions are oddly divided on Smith, with some seeing her as a no good outlaw, and others believing her to be a helpful, Robin Hood-esque figure. The latter reputation appears to be most common among the lower classes, although some officials and elites have been known to speak favourably of her.
The agency is currently aware of five horses that appear to be in Smith’s possession; Augustus a male palomino Morgan, Cleopatra a female white Arabian, Hypatia a female amber champagne Missouri Fox Trotter, Caesar a male strawberry roan Ardennes, and Robin Goodfellow a male black Kladruber. Robin Goodfellow is noted as being particularly aggressive and has been known to attack and even kill. There are rumours that it cannibalizes other horses but this is almost certainly untrue, and the rumour was perhaps started by Smith herself.
Smith owns a number firearms and does not appear to favour in particular. Due to the amount of them, they have been itemized for ease.
A pair of Schofield Revolvers, both of which have a pearl grip, long barrels, all gold metals, art nouveau engravings with brass inlay, with a simple and stylized lion head carved on each grip. These revolvers are said to be called Helen and Cassandra.
A pair of Cattleman Revolvers, both of which have an ebony grip, long barrels, all silver metals, ornamental engravings with blued steel inlay, with a simple and stylized crab carved on each grip. These revolvers are said to be called Ophelia and Juliet.
A pair of Double Action Revolvers, both of which have an ironwood grip, long barrels, all blackened steel metals, Victorian engravings with brass inlay, with a simple and stylized ram head carved on each grip. These revolvers are said to be called Morgana and Vivienne.
A Bolt Action Rifle, with all iron metals, baroque engravings with blackened steel inlay, chocolate leather wrap, and a cherry varnish. This rifle is said to be called Hector.
A Rolling Block Rifle, with all blackened steel metals, ornamental engravings with gold inlay, and a dark walnut varnish. This rifle is said to be called Achilles.
A Carcano Rifle, with all silver metals, Victorian engravings with blackened steel inlay, and a dark walnut varnish. This rifle is said to be called Patroclus.
A Pump Action Shotgun, with a long barrel, all nickel metals, art nouveau engravings with brass inlay, and mahogany varnish. This shotgun is said to be called Freyr.
A Double Barrelled Shotgun, with a long barrel, all silver metals, baroque engravings with gold inlay, and mahogany varnish. This shotgun is said to be called Freya.
Smith’s talents appear to be varied and numerous. Thus far the agency has concluded that she is proficient, if not fluent, in no less than thirteen languages aside from English (Italian, French, Spanish, Russian, German, Hebrew, Arabic, Cantonese, Mandarin, Navajo, Sioux, Apache, and Cherokee). According to reports from undercover agents she is also proficient in piano and violin, and can sing. She also appears to have some decent knowledge of modern medicine, as well as herbal remedies according to multiple sources outside of the agency. Highly skilled survivalist, as she has been seen camping in different regions, from New Austin, to Lemoyne, to even the Grizzlies. There is no doubt that Smith is as intelligent as they are conniving and cunning and slippery.
No official background has been discovered, and she changes her story everywhere she goes. It is clear she was extremely well educated as a child and into adulthood, but how she got the education is unknown, much like everything else.
One field agent noted that she appears to have a particular disdain for gambling, as he invited her to join a game of poker and she appeared to be disgusted at the suggestion. However this could have been part of the act she was portraying at the time.
The agency knows much and yet very little about Smith. She is often described as an enigmatic figure, supposedly just materializing out of nowhere like some kind of character from folklore.
Smith’s attitude towards the law appears to change from one hour to the next, but she is to be regarded as extremely dangerous and deceitful. Ideally the agency requests she be brought in alive for questioning, but if she resits agents have permission to kill.

23red alongside NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) have today launched an innovative new campaign across the Clear Channel digital Out of Home network.
The campaign uses live data from local donor centres alongside images of real blood recipients, with the aim of normalising blood donation and making it more personal and local.
The first party data from NHSBT is used dynamically to make people aware of the volume of appointments available that day or week at their nearest donor centre. It also shows its location, walking distance, the volume of first-time donors seen there in the past week, and the number booked to give blood that day.
The innovation in this partnership comes from the immediacy, locality, and relevance of the data. The work targets people specifically in their local area and provides a suite of real-time information and data which supports the call to action to give blood. The use of first party data combined with the sheer volume of dynamic elements in this campaign is unprecedented in its complexity.

The Deanes: 200 Years of Architectural Heritage
The Museum Building of Trinity College in Dublin (1853-7) is a seminal work of Victorian architecture, long regarded as the first expression of Ruskinian principles in stone, and famous for its pioneering structural use of Irish marble. This website presents new research on the building’s architecture and stonework, visualised using 3D laser scans, 360 photography and photogrammetry. Visitors can see the building as never before, explore its interior, stonework, and the rich carvings of the O’Shea brothers, as well as read in-depth accounts of the widespread sources that served to inspire the architects, Deane, Son & Woodward. A short video describes the transformative use of Connemara and other Irish marbles in the building.
The Museum Building of Trinity College Dublin
The Project
Making Victorian Dublin is an exciting and innovative collaborative project between geologists and architectural historians at Trinity College Dublin which has revealed the building industry responsible for Ireland’s Victorian architecture.  Funded by the Irish Research Council, the project aims to open new interdisciplinary horizons for the research of Ireland’s past.  For too long the craftsmen and quarrymen who cut, carved and constructed splendid buildings in Ireland’s towns, cities and countryside have been lost to history, overshadowed by the architects and patrons who designed and commissioned them.  But without the marble masons, stone cutters, carvers and builders these richly coloured and impeccably detailed buildings simply could not have been achieved.
Focused on Ireland’s most significant and influential building of the period, the Museum Building of Trinity College Dublin, researchers have uncovered the remarkable network of quarries, craft communities and transport routes which enabled its construction.  A few strides within this building displays the full range of Ireland’s remarkable stone resources.  The Museum Building pioneered the patriotic use of native coloured stone and established a taste for Connemara marble and Cork Red limestone which spread across Ireland to Britain and the United States.  Connemara marble with its distinctive green and white colour banding would become emblematic of Irish identity.  Further nationalistic emphasis is provided by elaborate stone carvings of the building that reveal a rich and diverse flora and fauna with a significant Irish-flavour.
The project will culminate in a book to be published in the Summer of 2019.
Principal Investigator and Architectural Historian, Prof Christine Casey:
“Architecture is the stage upon which our daily lives are conducted, from the splendid buildings of city and town to the more modest houses, public buildings and boundary walls which punctuate the Irish countryside. Too often we remember those who paid for these buildings and those who designed them. Architectural history is strong on patron and architect and weak on those who translated design and ambition into reality. Ireland’s historic buildings were created by generations of craftsmen from raw materials extracted and cut by quarrymen and stone carvers. This project has sought to illuminate this largely hidden history by foregrounding the history of building materials and craftsmanship. The local built environment can tell us much more about history and science than the standard narratives of architectural history. The colour, markings and texture of building stones provides a vivid and tangible snapshot of the earth’s infancy. Regions are characterised by the nature of their geology and building stone. The familiar and endearing walls of field and farmyard are composed of rubble stone which speak not only of our forbears but of our locality’s prehistoric formation .
As an architectural historian I have been humbled by my ignorance of stone. Hitherto focused only on its aesthetic qualities, I now understand the impact of geology on building history, why some stones are chosen and others not, why particular stones are so widely used, why certain stones are so highly valued, and why superlative architecture relied upon the highest quality of materials and craftsmanship. I look at buildings with new eyes and have brought this new perspective to every aspect of my research.”
Co-Principal Investigator and Geologist, Dr Patrick Wyse Jackson:
“The Museum Building at Trinity College Dublin has been dissected by geologists and architectural historians as part of the Making Victorian Dublin project funded by the Irish Research Council. This is a unique and innovative collaboration that has drawn together two distinctive areas of the sciences and humanities, and has generated a deeper understanding of each as exemplified by the Museum Building. Built in the 1850s at a time of directed promotion of dimension and decorative stone, a significant component of Ireland’s natural resources, this building demonstrated the versatility of this material for structural building but also for decoration, particularly through utilisation in columns in the hallways. Nine different decorative marbles and polished limestones assail the senses of the visitor and provide a geological lesson that reveals the underlying lithological foundations of our country. Connemara Marble and Cork Red Limestone are dominant but ably supported by stone varieties from Armagh, Fermanagh, Offaly, Galway, and Kilkenny.
Multidisciplinary projects such as the Making Victorian Dublin initiative demonstrate the value of close examination of a building such as the Museum Building. Importantly an understanding of how the characteristics of different rock types and how they are quarried dictates how they are utilised in architectural practice but at the same time an appreciation of the aesthetics conceived of by the architects can inform the stone types used. The Museum Building admirably demonstrates this blending of disciplines that led to its design and erection.”

WAVE  A man wakes from a coma speaking a fully formed but unrecognizable language baffling linguistic experts from around the globe. Follow on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/WaveShortFilm Folllow on instagram: https://www.instagram.com/waveshortfilm/ WAVE - TRAILER: https://vimeo.com/214217381 Director’s Bios Benjamin Cleary is an Irish filmmaker living between London and Dublin. In 2015 he wrote, directed and edited his first short film, Stutterer, which won the Oscar for Best Live Action Short at the 88th Academy Awards in February 2016. Stutterer has played at more than 80 festivals worldwide and has won over 20 awards including a Cannes Young Director Award, an Irish Film & Television Award (IFTA) and a London Critic’s Circle Award. In addition to this Benjamin was selected for the esteemed Les Nuit En Or scheme in France as one of 30 award-winning directors from around the world to tour Europe presenting their work. Benjamin is represented by Anonymous Content for film & TV in the US. In the UK he is repped by Ian Benson of The Agency, London. TJ O’Grady Peyton is an Irish director who graduated from the London Film School’s prestigious graduate program in 2010. Fresh into the professional ad space, he was shortlisted for the Young Director Award at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity in 2013 and 2015, later earning a People’s Voice Award at The Webby Awards in 2016. He has created narrative-driven commercials for such top clients as BMW, Gatorade, Cadillac, Coke, Nespresso, and Conde Nast, among others. A cinephile from a young age, TJ infuses a cinematic edge and emotional through line in all of his work, no matter what length. TJ is represented by Decon in New York and he is currently studying screen acting in one of Ireland’s leading creative hubs, Bow Street. Later this year he will be acting alongside Ellen Page in zombie thriller “The Third Wave”. The Story of Wave July 2015. Ben had spent over a year making STUTTERER which had just started its festival run. After editing the film for ages and caught in the throws of festival submissions, he was in dire need of jumping into something non STUTTERER related. TJ had just returned from directing a commercial in Australia for Gatorade with NFL Quaterback Cam Newton and was very eager to direct a short while also sink his teeth into some more acting. Ben and TJ had been mates for years and have always wanted to collaborate. After chatting one night, TJ mentioned that he wanted to give acting a proper go. Ben had seen him in a small Irish indie feature a few years previously and was impressed. They decided that Ben would write something for TJ to act in and both would co direct. The rules were simple: zero budget, under five minutes, and something they can shoot on a weekend with a few mates… Cut to: nineteen months later. 14-ish shoot days. Over thirty crew members. Twelve actors. Twenty locations. Fourteen outfit changes. One made up language. One Phantom. One Alexa. One 5D. Dawn shoots. Night shoots. Storm shoots. Sleepless nights. Three post houses. 46 VFX shots. Entire vats of coffee. Sixty youtube videos from every continent. And a world premiere in Tribeca. That original plan to come up with something tiny and contained went out the window when Ben read an article about an Englishman who had suffered a severe stroke. When he recovered, the man was speaking fluent Welsh even though he hadn’t lived in Wales since he was a young boy. Ben became fascinated with the phenomenon and started to discover similar cases around the world. He wrote a script loosely based on these strange happenings – but the kicker being that the protagonist would be speaking an entirely new language. Over the course of an intense month of work, Ben and TJ started planning how they would bring WAVE from script to screen.  Excitement started to build! Enter: producer extraordinaire, Rebecca Bourke. For the first week or two Ben and TJ started rounding up a few mates and loosely planning a shoot in Ben’s flat (while they worked out how to create a made up language that would sound believable). But things really got going when they managed to convince Rebecca to join the team. Rebecca is a talented producer who runs a production company called Assembly in Dublin. Suddenly the whole thing took on a more professional feel and started to gain momentum. Over the next nineteen months, the team found themselves pulled in all directions. Everyone was busy, many of us being taken away to work outside the country. WAVE became this process where like it’s protagonist – our production had to discover its own short hand to make this passion project come to life. We would get together every few months when everyone was in Dublin to shoot a bit here, and a little bit there. And slowly but surely everything began to fall into place. We had the excellent cinematographer Burschi Wojnar on board who has his own Alexa and was immensely generous with his time. As the lead actor, TJ was on his own in many of scenes so we were able to shoot whenever we wanted. And we had Rebecca on hand to organize a watertight shoot and call in the favours whenever needed. It was tough at times and frustrating and the project went through many ups and downs, but it was actually a great way to make a film and WAVE became a passion project that everyone loved being a part of. The genre police would probably call WAVE a dramedy, and there’s probably truth to that, but from deep pain, comes great comedy, and Ben + TJ do feel deeply connected to the films tragic current. Its those moments Ben + TJ find most fascinating to explore. Alienation. Isolation. Loneliness. Empathy. At it’s heart the directors hope WAVE is successful in exploring the human condition in an interesting way. In the end, the team have (finally) made a film that they’re all very proud of. If they had to do it all again starting tomorrow, would they be crazy enough to dive back into the deep end? The answer might just be yes.
