hi guys gals and youtuber pals i have big questions and i want answers In GW1, the predominate race are the Humans, and the predominate enemies are the Charr. Everything is on fucking fire and ash and most of the water sources are oil spills, post-war In GW2, there are the Norn, who live in Shiverpeak (mountains). However, from my playthrough (which isn’t complete because i cant progress), there are no mention of Norn in shiverpeak. In my meager play at GW2, theres the Lion Guard, who i’ve only seen in Caledon Forest. But in GW1, theyre located in Kyrta, which the Humans now occupy. There is like, No mention of the sylvari or asura, no mention of norn. There’s only Human and Charr. So where the fuck did the sylvari, asura and norn come from in GW1 lore

I see a lot of people complaining that filling event bars during story is not great design, but you know what? I wish the devs brought back the achievement for doing story-relevant meta before specific instances, like they did in EoD with True Ending.
Personally, I kinda like having bars to fill as long as I get some interesting dialogue and it's nicely paced, because I enjoy doing stuff in the open world map a lot in general, but the achiev method was the perfect way to signal to players how to get the full experience.

Went back to Drizzlewood to gather some of the currency and ended up doing some of the meta after... years, I think? Man, it's still one of the most impactful places of the game for me. Every little dialogue or detail makes my chest ache so good. I didn't realize how much I missed it.

So, when I make new characters in game, I like to challenge myself to go as far as possible in the story/map completion without a single death. Then, when it happens, I take note and try to work it into their backstory as an injury or close call of sorts.
Well, today it happened to be Poffi's turn. I did in fact go nearly 50% of map completion without a single death, but then it finally happened in the silliest way: an accidental dodge as I was gathering cultivated herbs in the asuran home instance sent her down the cliff.
You can bet your ears that I worked that into her backstory as an accidental fall down a ditch next to her family's lab, back when she was still a progeny. She had learned how to cook quite early and wanted to make a nice meal for her uncle (who took her in after her mother died) since it was his birthday, and she finally got an idea when she spotted some rare herbs that were growing in a hard-to-reach place next to the lab. Well, she did manage to harvest them, but her foot slipped and she tumbled down the ditch. She was scratched and sore all over, but she had a mission and the herbs were successfully in her hand, so she climbed out of it, quickly medicated and cleaned herself after sneaking back into the lab, and then went to the kitchen like nothing had happened [because right after the fall I went and unlocked the last ascended recipes with her, since she's my second cook]. Poor Chegg got so scared when he saw his niece all bruised up that he didn't even get to taste the meal, but in the end she was fine and even got a personal herb garden in a corner of the lab out if it.

Shiny-eyes boy (smug lil' bastard) Zehmik is done!
Finally got to use the warlord set on someone after years of unlocking it, and he's closest companion is a big Mists warkitty (name still pending).
Now to level him and unlock spellbreaker on him, so he's WvW ready~

So, finished the last SotO chapter (while accidentally skipping the meta so it's like, a partial opinion?)
It was... plain? 🤷
Nothing groundbreaking or awesome happened, but nothing downright stupid either. Which is fine, I guess. It's just inoffensive and goes by too fast to do anything necessarily "wrong". It does its thing by the book: the tyrant is defeated, the good ruler is now (gender neutral) king, and everyone lived happily ever after. The end.
Overall, a missed opportunity for a much nicer and juicier story, all those intriguing, dangling storylines from the initial drop just... went nowhere.
Which again, it's fine considering the switch in model brought more issues than we're aware of (waiting for that retrospective they promised, so we can get a clearer picture) and this story ended up being quite self-contained, so it wasn't AS bad as it could have been. Honestly, good job on not fully crashing the landing or ruining more than one beloved NPC, even though y'all ran out of budget! Not sure if I prefer this compared to Dragonstorm, that one had all of the "oomph" scenes but fell flat after what came before, while this one is just... tepid and mild with little flavor? Closest thing I can compare it to is that it felt like eating crackers that you forgot in the cupboard. Not bad, just... could have been a better meal, like we got used to, you know?
I still want to gnaw at Isgarren's smug bald noggin, Peitha lost a ton of her unique charm to become the generic "rightful heir to the throne" trope, and I'm a tad sad about Zojja (that last "Commander" hurt anyway).
Hopefully the meta will make this last episode gain another lil' point in my book, but I'll see tomorrow. Same for the fractal, I expect bitter exes fighting.
... AND WE STILL DON'T KNOW WHAT THE HEART OF THE OBSCURE IS THOUGH???
