Some aftercare for Gil after his poisoning experience? Thenas Pokémon being surprisingly caring and protective of him!
Something sweet maybe
Gil blinked, feeling something cool on his forehead. "Oh, uh, hey."
"Frosslass!"
Gil sat himself up in the bed, touching where Frosslass' hand(?) had just been. "Did I have a fever."
The ghost pokemon put on a contrite face and nodded, "Frosslass-Fross."
He had been at home for almost a week now, but they did tell him there could be latent effects of the poisoning he had suffered. So far the pain he had felt had at least lessened, but he still had some aches and chills, and the occasional fever.
Thena's pokemon had been...surprisingly helpful. He had expected Dragonite to be a bit of a worrywart, but both he and Teddiursa had been good about going back to work while he was still recovering. Thena may have told them that they had to help cover for Gil while he was still out sick.
She herself took as much time off from work as she could, but the league didn't exactly give her paid leave. Instead, she had gone back to her usual route with only Gallade and Ninetales, asking her most recent team addition - Froslass - to stay home with Gil.
"Frosslass?" she asked, floating down to the bed on top of his multiple blankets.
"I do feel better, thanks," he smiled at the kind hearted ghost pokemon. She tended not to let herself be visible for too long, but he felt that he had a good rapport with her. "What time is it?"
"Fross," she reached for him, using her long arm(??) to retrieve his pokegear. "Fross-Frosslass?"
"Yeah, she should be home in a little bit," Gil commented, looking through his messages, although they were mostly from Thena telling him that she hoped he was resting, and also a picture of a Luxray who apparently seemed to know her.
"Fross!" the ghost pokemon startled as he started sliding out of bed.
"I'm okay, really, I can at least put some soup on," he attempted to assure it, patting between the horns on her head.
But the ghost rushed in front of Gil, its eyes narrowed. "Frosslass!"
He had to admit he was surprised. He knew that Thena had instructed the ice/ghost type to take care of him in her absence, but he hadn't expected her to be so invested in his recovery.
"Fross," she continued, explaining how even in her short time in the house, she had noticed how much happier Thena's 'aura' seemed when Gil was around. He brought a calm to her trainer's mind which Froslass appreciated. "Froslass?"
"Of course I would," Gil sighed, not even wanting to think too hard on the idea of Thena being sick the way he had been. If anything, he was unconscious for so much of it, his memory was questionable at best. But as he had asked Thena about it, the severity of it was enough that she had admitted she was prepared to have a very serious talk with their little bear cub about the worst case scenario.
Froslass was right; he had a family to take care of, and to do that, he had to take care of himself.
She joined him, floating alongside him to the kitchen. "Frosslass...Fross?"
Gil nodded, reaching for the stew pot as well as some kitchen basics. They were actually from his apartment, since Thena's kitchen was terribly lacking for anything that wasn't related to pokemon nutrition. "It'll be easy, I'll just put it on so by the time Thena gets back it'll probably be almost ready."
Froslass floated around him, watching as he prepared the meal for himself and her trainer. "Frosslass."
Gil laughed, chopping a little more slowly than normal given his cold fingers. "Yeah, I guess I do kind of worry about what she feeds herself when I'm not around."
"Fross," the pokemon shrugged, pointing out that Gallade's snacking habit actually came from their trainer.
"Well, actually," Gil smiled at Froslass as he cooked. "When I first met Thena, I learned early on that she only cared for her pokemon and pretty much neglected herself."
"We ran into each other here in the valley. She had just moved and was still camping with Ralts and Swablu. When I brought her to the pokemon centre, not only did she sleep for almost an entire day, but I also found out that she spent all her money on luxury balls and vitamins and pokemon food. All she'd eaten was oran berries and packaged curry she'd brought with her."
Frosslass laughed as well, fading in and out of view as she expressed her glee. It certainly sounded like her very driven, very caring, but also very dense trainer. "Fross-Frosslass?"
"Well, I mostly told her that I would share my lunches with her, but only if she stopped spending all her money on her pokemon and at least bought herself some sandwiches or something. Or, y'know, worked on finding a place to stay while she was here."
"Frosslass?"
"She stayed in the league facilities for a while," Gil narrated as he began chopping the potatoes. He hadn't blanched them at all, wanting them to cook in the broth. But they were still pretty hard. "A lot of trainers do, but I don't think she liked not being able to have her pokemon out of their pokeballs and in her room with her."
"Fross," the ice type nodded, pressing the knife down with Gil. She was delighted to discover that, at home, Thena maintained an open pokeball policy. Sure, some people had a Pikachu or Skitty in the house with them, but mostly it was smaller breeds like that.
"I kind of like to think that was my influence, a little," Gil chuckled as Froslass helped him slide the diced potatoes into the stew as well. "I mean, she already carried Ralts in her arms all the time, but still."
"Fross?" she asked, intrigued by the idea of proud and stubborn Gallade being carried around the way Teddiursa had been at first.
"Yep," Gil confirmed as he started stirring. "She totally babied him. Carried him in her arms, let him sleep in her sleeping bag with her, even kept him in her coat when she went up the mountain. He acts all cool now, but right up until he evolved into a Kirlia, he was just as much of a lap pokemon as Teddi."
Froslass snickered to itself; she would savour this information the next time Gallade got bossy about the house rules.
"Come on, don't tell him I told you that," Gil attempted to dissuade her. "He already hates me, I can't have him thinking I turned you against him."
"Frosslass!" she waved, dismissing the notion that the Blade pokemon disliked the gentle ranger in any way. "Frosslass-Fross, Frosslass!"
"Really?" Gil felt the need to ask. Gallade always acted like Gil was somewhat of a nuisance, if a familiar one. He really hit those teenage years hard, and Gil sometimes wondered if he would ever outgrow that phase of only wanting to lie around and watch tv at home.
But Froslass argued that Gallade cared very much for his trainer's mate (as they put it). Gallade was Thena's battle partner, certainly, but he had at least some respect for the fact that Gil was her partner in a different way.
"Fross!" It was the thing about auras again. Gallade and Ninetales - and Frosslass to a certain degree - could all sense the auras people and pokemon gave off. And Gil and Thena's auras were never so healthy and happy as when they were together, so the ghost type said.
"I guess that's a relief," Gil looked into the soup pot, stirring the dinner for himself and his aforementioned partner. He certainly felt like he was part of their family. "He could give me a little less lip, though."
"Fross," she shrugged. That was Gallade--he didn't like listening to anyone, and even listening to Thena didn't always work. But he cared for their family and took protecting them very seriously.
"Yeah, I'll say," Gil huffed, mostly in reference to the many occasions Gallade had interrupted their dates like a disgruntled father or agitated little brother. "I used to make poffins for him, and he treats me like I'm some homewrecker."
"Frosslass," she lamented, and she was right, Thena's poffins were better (marginally). "Frosslass!"
But Gallade did have fondness for Gil, and being his usual petulant self around him was a sign of that.
"Well, thanks for telling me that," he smiled at the ghost companion who handed him the pot lid. "This can just simmer away until she gets home."
"Frosslass?"
"A little," he also lamented, yawning into his palm. "Man, this is killing me."
"Frosslass!"
"Sorry, sorry," he chuckled, patting its head again before shuffling to the couch. "Thanks for keeping me company, too. I know you'd rather be out battling with Thena."
"Frosslass," she excused easily. Everyone was worried about him upon the news that he had fallen ill. And if she could do small things to help, like look after him at home or babysit Teddi on occasion, then she was happy to.
"What do you want to watch?" he asked as he picked up Gallade's precious tv remote.
"Fross," she pondered, watching him skip through programs until her eyes lit up and she floated up off the couch again, "Fross!"
"Okay, Great Galar Bakeoff it is," Gil declared, setting the remote down and sinking further into the cushions. "Do you and Thena watch this?"
"Fross-Frosslass," she nodded, recounting how Thena actually paid very close attention to the relaxed show, hoping to absorb some practical knowledge.
Gil yawned again, already being lulled to sleep by the calming music and gentle regional accents, "that's pretty cute."
"Fross," she whispered, watching as he curled himself up. She reached to the back of the couch, also using Gallade's precious throw blanket to drape over Gil.

Gil makes friends with an unusual Pokémon and this one decides very stubbornly he wants to be his partner Pokémon to someone who never really fought a battle.
Gil has no idea what to do and asks Thena for help
Snap!
Gil looked down, dread filling him from the neck down. Under his boot was a very nice leek stalk. And a very nice, very sturdy, plucked leek could only mean one thing. He looked up, "uh..."
"Farfetch'd!"
"Sorry, I'm sorry!" Gil held up his hands as the furious Wild Duck pokemon stormed out of the pondside grass and towards him. "I didn't mean to!"
"Far-Farfetch'd!" Well, of course he hadn't meant to, but what was done, was done!
"I know, I'm sorry, really!" Gil continued to plead, even holding up the snapped leek. "I would never-!"
The ruffled bird pokemon continued to glare at him, the marking of its 'unibrow' making it look even more severe. It snatched back the two halves of the leek from him in a huff. "Farf!"
"I really am sorry," Gil repeated, sadder this time as he watched the Farfetch'd look at its beloved leek forlornly. He removed his hat and pressed it to his chest. "I can help you find another one."
"Far?"
"I will," Gil nodded, already resolute to help no matter what duties he was putting off by doing so. "I'm a pokemon ranger. I took an oath to help any and every pokemon that needs my help."
The pokemon looked skeptical at best. It even crossed its wings at him in a look of pure disbelief, "Far-Farfetched."
"Well," Gil ruffled his hair in the face of the pokemon's skepticism. "No--but if you tell me what you're looking for, at least I can help you look twice as fast, right?"
Farfetch'd continue to glare at him, mostly, but he could see the expression on its face lightening. It slapped its webbed feet on the grass a little more firmly, "Farfetch'd?"
"I won't leave until I make this right," Gil vowed to the small avian pokemon, holding up his hand like he did on his first day of initiation.
Farfetch'd did not seem moved by his solemnity, but it did shrug its wings before tucking its broken leek under one of them. "Far!"
"Yes, sir," Gil chuckled. He wasn't used to such a non-confrontational - at least with humans - pokemon being so bossy. But the obstinate little duck reminded him of someone. "So, uh, I know the basic height and shape, but what else should I know?"
"Far!" he squawked back at him as he began rooting through the lower grasses as Gil searched the higher stalks. "Far-Farfetch'd-Far."
"Right," Gil murmured, directing his attention to the colours of the stalks of choice, as well as the thickness of them. This would be Farfetch'd's primary mode of protection, after all. Even if Farfetch'd mostly only confronted other Farfetch'd, he would still need to defend himself.
"Farfetch'd?"
Gil looked up and over, although Farfetch'd was entirely focused on the task at hand. He just wasn't used to making small talk with a wild pokemon. "Uh, y-yeah, I have a, uh, family...of sorts."
"Farfetched?"
Gil blushed faintly, batting some taller water grass out of his way. "I don't know if I'd say a hatchling, but we have a...we have a Teddiursa. I rescued him and he imprinted on Thena, so-"
"Far?"
"Yes!" Gil huffed, feeling agitated by the bird's overly direct line of questioning. He really tried not to let pokemon get him on the 'mate' topic, though. "She has a house up at the top of the mountain."
"Far," the little pokemon mused aloud, tapping the bottom of its beak. Only very strong trainers and pokemon chose to live so high up and in the open.
"Yeah, she is tough," he chuckled. "I think you'd like her."
"Fetch'd," he looked back over at Gil, still with no leek suiting his fine tastes. "Far-Farfetch'd."
Gil laughed, picking one with potential, "nah, I'm the lucky one. I love my job, but they also make it nice to go home to someone, y'know?"
"Far." Farfetched looked down at the grass beneath its feet, even the feathers at the top of its head sinking lower.
"Oh," Gil uttered gently, taking in the suddenly more melancholy Farfetch'd. Sure, not everyone in every colony managed to find a nestmate, but he couldn't imagine what it was like to be the only one without that feeling of having a family. "Hey."
Farfetched look up at Gil, letting him pat the top of his head, feathers and all. He sighed.
"Listen," Gil smiled down at the little guy. "I know it's hard to really devote yourself to taking care of everyone else. It takes a lot out of you, right?"
"Far," the pokemon reluctantly agreed, the weight of his responsibilities to the flock weighing on his wings.
"But you're doing great work, right? I bet your colony has been really safe all these years with you," Gil attempted to encourage him. "You may not have hatchlings of your own, but you've helped keep all of them safe."
"Far?"
"Really," he smiled, taking a seat next to the reticent duck. "That's kind of what it feels like to be a ranger, y'know?"
"Farfetch'd?" it tilted its head at him, also seating itself properly.
"Well," Gil shrugged, ruffling his hair under his hat. "Being a ranger is a tough job. And I'm not saying rangers never think 'oh, this would be so much easier if I had my own pokemon'. I'm lucky I have a Dragonite I hatched from an egg, but a lot of rangers don't have pokemon who are really bonded to them like that. We don't believe in it."
"Farfetch'd?"
Gil sighed, tugging at the collar of his vest. "Pokemon are amazing creatures, and we're lucky to share our world together. I don't wanna force any pokemon to be bound to me, in a pokeball or otherwise. Even Dragonite--I hatched him, but he doesn't have a pokeball. If he didn't wanna stick around, or be a ranger, he didn't have to be. He chose that life."
"Farfetch'd!" the bird pokemon squawked, starry-eyed at the idea of a pokemon having such a designated and impressive job.
"Yeah, he's the best," Gil laughed in agreement. "And now our little Teddi is a ranger too! Well, a ranger in training. He's still a Mama's cub when he gets home."
"Fa-fa-far," Farfetched chuckled into its wing.
"Don't tell him I said that! If you ever meet him," Gil rushed to amend. Teddiursa felt very strongly about being babied these days.
"Farfetch'd," the bird agreed, nodding and raising a solemn wing as a promise.
"Thanks," Gil sighed. He looked at Farfetch'd again. "So listen, I get it. It's hard to devote your life to the service of others like that. But you're doing good work, and I'm sure your colony really appreciates it."
"Far," Farfetch'd hummed, tapping its beak again. He looked up at Gil, something about his expression shifting.
"I really admire you, and all the work you've done," Gil tipped his hat to the pokemon.
"Farfetch'd!"
"Huh?" Gil blinked at the sudden demand. But Farfetch'd jumped back onto its feet, flapping his wings, repeating the request to see his life as a ranger--to meet his family! "I-I don't-"
"Far-Farfetch'd!" he repeated. He wanted to see what it was like to be a colony protector of a different kind! He wanted to see life outside the grasslands! And he wanted to know more about this ranger.
"I don't really, y'know," Gil paused. He had just described how he didn't really have a partner pokemon, and Dragonite and Teddiursa somewhat fit into that category for him. But he didn't think it was an invitation.
"Farfetch'd," the bird pokemon stood tall, though. "Far-Farfetch'd."
Gil looked at the stubborn pokemon. He had to admit, he did make him think somewhat of Thena and how hard headed she could be sometimes. Farfetch'd was a pokemon who was used to being a diligent protector and caretaker. He would probably fit right in with them. Gil sighed.
"Far?"
"I don't have pokeballs," he held his hands up. "But if you wanna just come and...see the ranger centre--I guess that's fine. Don't get ahead of yourself, okay? I'm not...catching you, or anything."
"Fa-fa-far-fetch'd!" he laughed in the face of his reluctance.
Gil rolled his eyes; a pokemon laughing at him would fit right in with Thena's pokemon just fine. "Okay, let's go I guess."
"Farfetch'd!!!"
"Right, s-sorry," Gil nearly tripped. He had almost forget they had to find him a replacement leek first.

A very rare Pokémon accidentally (gets spooked) poisons Gil, while he observed it and took some notes. and because this Pokémon is usually not here the berries and medication in the poke Centre are not helping him. Thena sees his notes and tries to find a antidote for him, while Gil’s health gets worse and worse by every hour!
It’s time for some drama and angst 😳
Thena ran her hand over the crescent moon in Teddiursa's fur. He was finally asleep after a harrowing couple of hours. She couldn't blame him for being upset, of course. He had been a mess of tears when Gil came into the medical wing for poisoning.
She had been at the ranger centre already to check in on her little cub, busy on a day of junior ranger duties. They had both been told that Gil was on the way back from the field with an undetermined cause of poisoning.
Dragonite had brought him in, carrying him in its arms and letting out distressed moans like a suffering Wailord. It hadn't seen what poisoned Gil; they didn't know if it was a pokemon, a plant, some kind of spore, a latent effect, an attack etc.
"Chansey," the nurse tending to Gil turned to her. The doctors had done all they could, and the Chansey and Blissey and Audino were administering antidotes and psn cures and pecha berries every half hour. They had even turned to using Heal Bell and Calm Mind on him, but nothing seemed to be working.
If anything, he just kept getting worse.
"Thank you," Thena whispered, nodding to the Chansey on its way to attend to the rest of the patients in the medical wing. Gil was privileged to have a private room, and she was grateful for it.
She stood, leaning over him to look at the continual damage the poison was doing. His lips had a bluish undertone, his skin was pale and sallow despite his high fever. The only reason his face wasn't contorted in pain was because he was sedated so heavily by not only medication but she had even asked Gallade to use Hypnosis on him.
"Oh, Gil," she whispered, tucking her hair behind her ear as she ran her free hand over his cheek, around his oxygen mask. She leaned forward to press a kiss to his cheek.
"Teddi?"
"I'm sorry, Luvdisc," she whispered as Teddiursa turned to look at her, rubbing at its eyes. He was tucked into Gil's side. "I didn't mean to wake you."
"Ted?" he looked up at her with watery eyes.
"No, I'm afraid not," she sighed. Teddi looked at Gil and then up at her, holding out his paws to be picked up. "Oh, come here."
Teddiursa had actually put on a very brave front when Gil had first arrived in his condition. He was a junior ranger, after all, and so followed procedure. He notified the rest of his team, checked in with Dragonite, informed the scouting team of the approximate region where it happened.
Only when Thena had brought him in with her to see Gil had he broken down into tears, wailing into her shoulder.
She had told him he was being a very brave little bear. But every time she thought it, she dreaded to think that she might have to tell him that more and more. She might even be the only one to ever call him that from now on...
"Teddi," he turned his face from her shoulder to look at her, swiping his paw pads - careful of his long claws - against her cheeks. "Ted-Teddi."
Thena sniffled, letting him brush her tears away, "thank you, darling. I'm sorry, I won't cry."
"Teddiursa."
"You're right, he will be," she agreed, no matter how out of reach that optimism truly was for her at the moment. She picked up Gil's notebook again.
They had all scoured it, looking for any clues as to what could have caused this. His condition was worsening because they couldn't narrow down the effectiveness of a cure. They needed more information.
His ranger team couldn't make heads or tails of his notes, turning to canvasing the whole route where he had been and collecting all the samples they could. Dragonite was heading that team, all of them with the case details in their ranger dexes.
Dragonite had left Thena the actual notebook, determined that if anyone had a chance of deciphering them, it was her.
Thena unfolded the little notebook again with a sigh. They had at least narrowed down the particular route within the valley where he was. He had drawn some truly horrendous pine trees, and a few blobs they had determined to be Oddish and Gloom. All of his notes were such a loose stream of consciousness, they weren't very coherent.
wild flowers!--pick some for Thena
Thena sniffled again but blinked her tears away. They weren't helping anyone.
There were a few musical notes drawn in the corner. The rangers had discussed which bird pokemon they could be referencing, but she had said that he would have just drawn the pokemon if that were the case. She was willing to bet that it meant it was windy wherever it was.
Pine trees and a lot of wind - as well as dense enough forest for Oddish and Gloom - indicated the north eastern cliffs, housing a lot of grass and bug pokemon.
someone DROPPED in to see me!
Gil loved silly jokes like that. They were stupid, and dumb, and by all the legends alive did she love them. She hated the idea that she would never get to tell him that.
Was it a Spinarak? Or even bigger--an Ariados? He hadn't been bitten, though. Maybe it was a poison sting, but they couldn't find any actual barbs in his skin when scanning him. Maybe it was toxic, but he wouldn't be incapacitated, he would be shaky and sick to his stomach and flushed with fever.
"Dropped in," she sighed, looking over the last filled out page again, and again and again. She hadn't stopped looking at it, until she was so frustrated that she wanted to start screaming.
There was a little drawing in the corner that looked like...well, it could look like anything. It could be a tomato berry, or a colbur or a babiri berry, for that matter. But they wouldn't be in that location, let alone high enough to fall on him. The little bumpy ball could be a Cascoon/Silcoon, a Ferroseed--even a Koffing or a Whirlipede would make some sense. Honestly, it could be a terribly drawn Quilfish or Goomy, they were desperate enough.
"Dropped in," she repeated again, running her thumb along the drawing he had made on the side of the page in the margins. It just looked like a blob on a stick, really--like a cattail blowing in the wind.
Dropped in; something had fallen down and spooked him, or he had spooked it. He had been able to write that note down, and sketch the thing before it attacked him, or he touched it, or whatever had happened. It wasn't Poison Sting, or Toxic, or even Pin Missile. All of those would have physical evidence on him.
What if it was something that dissolved?
Thena stood and leaned over him again. She tilted her head this way and that, looking for small details--constricted veins, bloodshot eyes, signs she could recognise when her pokemon experienced them. She run her thumb along his bluish lip before pulling his mouth open just a little. "Purplish tongue."
"Teddi?" Teddiursa rose from where he had been leaning against her in her visitors chair.
She opened the book, angling the drawing as right side up as she could guess it was drawn. "What does that look like to you, sweetheart?"
"Ted?"
"Please, honey, just think," she encouraged, ruffling the fur between its ears. "If you saw this pokemon, what would it be?"
Teddiursa made a face. It wasn't like any pokemon it could remember seeing. "Teeeeeeeeeeed..."
Thena stayed crouched down, holding out the picture, "I think it's a bug, or at least a poison type. I don't think it attacked him--I think it was a defense mechanism. Maybe he tried to pick it up and it had effect spore?"
"Ted-Ted," the little bear tilted its head at the funny drawing. He was trying to determine if it was hanging down or standing up. "Teddi?"
"A what?"
Teddiursa jumped down from the chair, mimicking first a little ball, and then splaying out his paws and claws and flailing them. "Teddi!"
"Drops from the trees," Thena narrated as she tried to extrapolate what pokemon Teddiursa was describing purely from young memory. "It's a ball?"
"Ted!" he waved his paws around again.
"But when it drops, it opens up," she guessed, and he pointed a claw at her. "So it's not a Ferroseed, or even connected to a Ferrothorn."
"Teddi!" he continued, now spinning around on his paw.
"Spins," she groaned, searching through every pokemon she could think of in her mind. Kids these days had it so easy with their pokedexes right in their pockets or on their wrists. "A little ball that drops down and spins...spins?--Rapid Spin?"
"Teddi! Teddi...ursa!" her little cub described, miming and Explosion.
It used Explosion and Self-Destruct. They weren't looking for a poison barb, they were looking for a defensive pokemon. One that didn't have much attack power and relied on high trees for its habitat. It dropped down when frightened and could only defend itself in close proximity (no limbs).
Thena reached for Gil's ranger gear, calling Dragonite. "It's a Pineco!"
It asked if she was sure, which she could understand.
"It's a Pineco--it dropped out of a tree when he found it," she continued, looking at the drawing that was now so obvious: it was a bagworm. The little blob was the Pineco itself, but the other drawing was because Pineco wasn't the pine cone pokemon, it was the Bagworm pokemon. "Sometimes they can know Toxic Spikes when they're young. Toxic Spikes are proximity based, and they dissolve into the skin once they've made contact."
Dragonite let out a roar on his end, directing the rangers with it to the area with Pineco in the trees. It let out a softer howl to her before signing off.
Thena dropped her head, letting her tears fall freely. They had an answer--it wasn't a solution yet, but it was a hell of a lot closer. "Thank Arceus, thank Celebi, thank anyone out there."
"Teddi?" her little cub latched onto her ankle as she hunched over Gil's bed.
She sniffled and smiled, picking up her little bear and pressing kisses to his furry cheek. "You deserve the medal of honour, you brilliant bear, you."
"Teddiursa!" the cub laughed as she tickled him. He didn't know what he had done, but he was glad to see her tears fade.
"Audino?" the nurse for the next treatment poked its head in.
"Please," Thena waved in the Hearing Pokemon. "I just called Dragonite's team. I think it was a Pineco with Toxic Spikes that did this."
"Aud!" the nurse gasped, its ears fluttering and snapping its fingers(?) at the realisation.
"It makes sense, right?" Thena sighed, to which the medical assistant agreed. She nodded, "Dragonite will be back with a sample as soon as possible. But if we know it was Toxic Spikes, then-"
"Aud-Audino," the nurse assured her that they could use a more specified - effective - treatment, even before they started synthesizing the antidote. It went to Gil's equipment, making a few adjustments to certain levels of things (whatever they were). "Aud!"
"Thank you," Thena nodded as the pink pokemon left to alert her colleagues to the situation. Thena leaned all the way over the bed, pressing her tears into the shoulder of Gil's shirt. "Thank Eternatus you're okay."
Gil's eyes fluttered.
"Sh, sh," Thena cooed, not wanting to wake him if he was just going to feel awful.
He blinked at her, "hey."
Thena blinked as tears started streaming from her eyes again. "Hey."
Gil moved his eyes around a little (the most movement he could muster at the moment). "Is...am I dying?"
Thena shook her head, kissing his forehead, "not anymore."

Could you write their first meeting in the Pokémon AU? It would be super cool to read about that!!❤️
"Ralts!!"
"Sorry," Gil startled back at the sudden exclamation. He leaned over the bushes again, but the Ralts was already crouched down and holding the green 'helmet' of its head. They were very easily startled pokemon, but they were more prone to running away than just...sitting there.
"Hey, it's okay," Gil tried to soothe the little guy, bending down to him but at a safe distance away. "I'm sorry I scared you, buddy."
The Ralts continued to huddle over itself. It was waiting for...something.
"I didn't mean to," Gil said gently. "I'm a pokemon ranger. I was just checking the area. Are you lost?"
"Ralts," the little psychic type whimpered.
Gil pulled his pokegear out of the inside pocket of his vest. He wasn't due back quite yet.
"There you are!"
Gil looked up, finding a rather intimidating looking trainer glaring down at him. He gulped; she was beautiful.
"Who's this?" she asked the Ralts, rather than asking him directly.
"Ralts-Ralts!" the pokemon answered her, scurrying in between her legs and clinging to her white denim pants. She was dressed in white all over, actually; he would think she was an ice specialist if not for the Ralts at her feet.
"Ranger," she frowned at Gil again. Maybe she was one of those super intense competitive types.
"Uh, sorry," he apologised (for nothing). Maybe it would soothe her already riled temper? "I was going to offer to help him get back to whoever was waiting for him."
She looked down at her timid little pokemon and back to him. There was a coldness in her eyes that made it seem chillier than it really was. "Ralts is...shy."
Yeah, that was clear. Gil looked at the trembling little pokemon to the much more headstrong trainer standing over it. How in the world did they happen upon each other? Gil took his hat off and straightened up to look at her more properly. She was tall, but he was still taller than her.
"How did you end up catching him?" he asked in a friendly voice. His eyes drifted to her hip, where he could see only luxury balls on her belt. She seemed severe, but she obviously cared for her pokemon. Or maybe she was just rich.
"He just...fell right into me."
Gil blinked. But the female trainer leaned down and picked Ralts up, holding it in a surprisingly gentle way. Maybe she was just protective of her pokemon, and that was what made her come across as so frosty. She was far from a young, dumb trainer running around with nothing but a bike to their name, but it seemed so strange for her to only have this little Ralts with her.
"I moved regions recently," that explained the accent. "I was camping and this little thing just...tumbled right over and into my campsite."
"Ralts," it crossed its arms and looked up at her, like a child complaining of its parent telling an embarrassing story about it.
"He has to grow into his feet a little." She smiled--she finally smiled! It was a pretty smile.
It wasn't abnormally tall...yet. But she was right, the tracks Gil had followed had made him sure it was a different pokemon all together.
"Swablu?"
Gil blinked as the Cotton Bird pokemon peeked out from behind the trainer's ponytail. It nudged some of it away with its beak. "Oh, hello."
"Well, hello," she greeted the pokemon sitting in the hood of her jacket.
"Swa!" it cooed back at her, stretching out its fluffy wings.
A Ralts and a Swablu...and with the blonde of her hair - even lighter than a Ninetales' colour - they made kind of a funny picture.
"What?" she demanded as to what he was smiling about.
Gil shook his head, still smiling at her. "It's a nice team, you have. They obviously trust you a lot."
"Hm," she relaxed some, although he got the sense that it wasn't his praise that had earned her trust. Her eyes ran over him, "what about you?"
"Uh," he blushed faintly, gripping his hat tighter, "m-me?"
"You're a pokemon ranger," she raised a brow at him, tilting her head (Swablu moved to her other shoulder). "I know you're not about pokeballs, or whatever."
That was one way to put it, Gil supposed.
"But you really don't have any pokemon with you?"
Gil shrugged, not disclosing that even for a ranger, it was a little odd to not even have a partner pokemon, free roaming or otherwise. "Not...permanently."
"Are you..." she trailed off, still regarding him warily. She had every right, now that Gil thought of it; if she was new from another region, travelling alone, obviously beautiful--it probably wasn't easy for her to trust any old trainer she ran into. "Do you get lonely?"
Gil's back straightened. That certainly was a word for it.
"S-Sorry." Ralts tilted its head up to look at her, revealing its well hidden eyes. She patted his head, "I suppose you can tell I don't speak to people much anymore."
"That's okay," Gil smiled. She was actually...kind of sweet, under that hard outside. Like a pecha berry. "I get that question a lot, as a ranger."
"Is it safe for you to be patrolling alone, in any case?" she tilted her head at him.
"Well," it wasn't without its dangers, certainly, "for the most part. I'm heading back tot he ranger centre now, actually."
The trainer's eyes lit up.
Gil met her gaze, although she looked back down at Ralts. She was stubborn. "How long have you been camping out here?"
She tapped her finger against the tip of Ralts' red crest (making the little Feeling pokemon giggle). She was...embarrassed? "Until you reach a higher rank, the salary of a pro trainer...it isn't as glamorous as the league makes it look on television."
She was done with camping, clearly. Gil straightened up, slipping his hat back on. "Well, you're welcome to come with me. There's a pokemon centre, and we're fully equipped to handle travellers for however long they need to stay."
She debated it a little more before sliding closer. "I appreciate it. I...I'm Thena."
Thena; even her name was beautiful.
Gil tried to keep his smile contained to 'normal' and not 'some creep she met in the woods'. "I"m Gil."
"Well then," she cleared her throat, trying to resume the more lofty attitude with which he'd found her. But the contrast was kind of cute. "After you, Ranger Gil."
His heart flipped over in his chest. Technically he was barely more than a junior ranger--this was his first route he was allowed to patrol by himself, and he hadn't really found his place at the ranger centre here.
No one had called him Ranger Gil before.
"Uh, r-right!" he also cleared his throat. He pulled the brim of his hat down as he felt himself blush. "This way!"
"Swab!"
He laughed as Swablu took the liberty of perching himself on top of Gil's hat for the journey.
"Swablu, stop it!"
"It's okay," Gil assured her, letting the little bird settle down on his head. "I don't mind, really."
"Swablu!"
He heard Thena sigh from behind him. "Fine, but only because he's cute."
He knew she was talking about Swablu, but still, his blush worsened.

Hello, I've been re-reading your Thenamesh Pokemon AU and this scenario suddenly came to my mind: five times Thena and Gil almost had spicy moments and one time they actually did.
Those almost times could be because of interruptions from Teddiursa (their cute little cub demanding their attention) or Gallade (he just did it for the lols 🤣)
Tysm!
The first time was an accident--a dream that got..heated.
Thena woke on the couch to find the room dark and the tv on. She and Gil had dozed off watching something dumb, as usual. He was sleeping, sprawled out on the L of her sectional couch (which Gallade had surrendered to them quite reluctantly).
There was a distinct ache beneath her belly--a coiling heat, a certain dampness between her legs. She bit her lip.
She couldn't remember everything, but it was definitely good. It was lips on lips, then lips other places. And hands on thighs and strong, strong arms...of course it was Gil. It wouldn't be anyone else.
Thena rubbed her thighs together, testing just how close she was. The answer was: very. She whined faintly, trying to gain friction as she rolled over onto her back. She just...she just needed to...she was almost there...
"You okay?"
Thena's heart nearly leapt out of her chest. Her skin flushed as hot as a Torkoal shell as she stared up at the ceiling. "Hm?"
Gil sat up on his couch cushion, blinking at her blearily. "You sounded like you were having a bad dream. Are you okay?"
Oh Gil. Sweet, sweet Gil; Thena sighed, "yeah, I...I'm okay."
Gil shimmied on the couch, not bothering to get up as he moved closer to her until her head was nestled against his chest. He sorted her hair out for her, "there."
"Hm," she squeaked out, still mortified at almost being caught. Worst of all, Gil was back to snoozing, closer than he was before, and she still hadn't managed to come.
The second time, they were at home after a date.
They were just watching tv at first, trading small talk, some flirts, the occasional kiss. And the kissing evolved into making out quite naturally.
"Gil," Thena breathed in the brief window during which their lips parted. Her hands were looped lazily around the back of his neck with her in his lap.
"Thena," he moaned in return, his hands sneaking up the back of her shirt and walking their way up to the clasp of her bra. They were almost there when they both froze, heads turning out of pure instinct.
"Ted," a round head peeked around the stairs to the attic loft, with big, watery eyes and a little pout.
They had moved Teddiursa into the attic with Gallade since he was old enough not to have to sleep in Thena's room anymore. But the little bear hadn't acclimated to being directly under the roof overnight.
Thena gave Gil a remorseful smile before dismounting him and holding her arms out for their little cub. "It's okay, baby, come here."
Teddiursa walked over to them, its paws clasped in front of its belly in a display of shyness, or maybe embarrassment. It wasn't enough to keep it from reaching up for Thena to pick it up, though.
"Is the wind too loud?" she whispered, smoothing over his fur. He nodded, and she kissed his crescent moon. "Do you want to stay down here for a little bit?"
Gil chuckled as the little cub happily snuggled into Thena's embrace at the extended invitation. He didn't mind if it was for their little bear.
The third time it was Gallade, and Gil minded it a little more, that time.
They were just getting in from a night of walking along the beach, looking at the stars, talking about old constellation myths. They had even used an air taxi instead of flying with Dragonite so they didn't have any pokemon witnessing their canoodling.
They stumbled into the house, lips sealed together, tongues tangling. Gil's hands were on Thena's waist, rustling the material of her fancy dress. Her hands were under his jacket and running over his chest as if she were patting him down for a search of contraband.
Gil was past trying to create a super romantic atmosphere. He had tried it before, and evidently their lives just didn't have the time for it. He had to prioritise what was important, and - as was always the case with him - that was Thena. And he wanted more of her.
"Gil," she moaned as he hoisted her up on the kitchen counter, still kissing her. The new angle was fun and interesting, though--kind of sexy.
His hands gripped her hips, anchoring her there as he started to kiss her neck. He wasn't entirely sure where he was going with things, but they were going to end with Thena's pleasure, or it would kill him.
"Gallade!"
Or her pokemon would, apparently.
The fighting type stomped down the stairs from the attic, where he was having to spend more and more time since Gil and Thena had started actually dating. He pointed a finger(?) at Gil with a glare, "Gal!"
"Okay, okay," Gil held up his hands, showing that whatever he had been doing to Gallade's trainer - his own girlfriend! - was no longer happening.
Thena turned to look at her partner pokemon as it was complaining that they prepared food on that counter. She glared, "you have three seconds to get back upstairs before I box you--one!"
Gallade practically extremespeeded up the stairs and away from his trainer's threat to toss him into a PC for the night.
The fourth time really was an accident.
They really thought they were alone, though! They had been stargazing at the very top of the mountain, above even the highest of caverns. It was basically only accessible with ice types, or the sturdiest of flying pokemon.
Or, if you were a pokemon ranger who could convince any passing Abomasnow to give you a ride.
They were snuggled up all cozy. Hot cocoa and poffins and everything, just them and the open sky. Gil had pulled a blanket over them as they laid back to trade theories about Lunala and Solgaleo. But he would argue that it was Thena who got a little closer than cuddly. They were under the thick knit blanket, sharing a sleeping bag--it happened pretty naturally.
Gil groaned as Thena's thigh moved between his, travelling carefully until she brushed against something very sensitive and he let out a positively desperate sounding moan.
Thena kissed his cheek in appreciation of the sound, then his jaw, then under it and down his neck. Her hand was sneaking into his sweatpants when the ground shook.
He held her as the earth trembled until a herd of Gible emerged. They had clearly gotten lost in their burrowing, immediately all panicking as the ice and snow hit their sensitive skin.
Gil didn't even have time to feel embarrassed at being caught in the act. He immediately shifted into Ranger mode, telling the little dragon types that they were too high up, that the snow was bad for their nervous systems, that digging was done best downward, etc.
The fifth time was a final straw for both of them.
Gil had spent the night, although there was a Teddiursa in between them, too scared to sleep in his own bed with a thunderstorm rattling the rafters directly above his head. Which Gil didn't mind, because who could be mad at that cute little face?
But come the morning, he did sneak the little cub back upstairs and into his own bed. He had a little time before his shift--just a little.
Thena inhaled, moving over to him again as soon as he pulled the covers up. "You put him down again?"
"Yep, he's out like a light," Gil chuckled, wrapping his arms around her and not hesitating to pulling her into a kiss.
"Hm," Thena purred against him, "you have work."
"Not yet," he rumbled, his voice deeper and rougher after a night's sleep. He rolled them over, kissing Thena's neck and using his easy access to her breasts to his full advantage.
"Gil," Thena gasped as he teased her over the silk of her nightgown. He had asked if she had always worn such sexy things to bed, to which she said yes. He was pretty sure she was lying, but he couldn't really prove it.
He was just about to kiss down further when his watch beeped at him. "Fuck!"
Thena laughed as he pressed his frustration into her belly with a groan. She attempted to reach it for him on the opposite night stand. He wrapped around her tighter, but she laughed. "Gil, it's probably Dragonite."
"He's a big boy, he can fly to work by himself."
Thena ran her fingers through his hair and kissed the top of his head. "That's not very rangerly of you, Gilgamesh."
The full name; he sighed, "fine. But when I get back-"
Thena's eyes fluttered as he shot up and kissed her so hard her knees went soft (and they were sitting down).
"You're mine."
He meant it too. As soon as he was off shift, he had one thought only: Thena. He flew straight to her house after work, even seeing her and all her pokemon outside to enjoy the spring air. He practically leapt off Dragonite's back and marched right over to them.
Teddiursa watched him walk past the pokemon, himself included. He looked up at Dragnoite, "Ursa?"
"All of you!" Gil barked as he didn't even break his stride to swoop in and toss Thena over his shoulder, "go for a walk!"
"Gil!" Thena laughed, although she yelped as she got a smack on the backside in reply.
Teddiursa was confused greatly by his parents/trainers' strange behaviour. He blinked as he was picked up by Gallade as they all started to, as instructed, go for a walk. "Ted?"
"Gallade," it sighed, urging him not to ask any questions.
Gil kicked the door shut behind him, marching directly into Thena's room, shedding what clothes he could on the way. He tossed them both onto her bed finally, helping her out of her clothes with the same vigour.
"You're awfully eager," Thena teased him, although she did help him wiggle her out of her jeans and pull her sweater over her head.
"I am not getting interrupted again," he growled, already riled up and frustrated at just the thought. "I have been looking forward to this all day."
Thena laughed again, although the breath died in her throat as he did away with her bra in one smooth move, tossing it away with no further need. "Gil!"
"What did I say this morning?" he pulled back just enough to look at her with darkened eyes, his hands already having taken the place of her discarded bra.
"That," she gulped, her thighs pressing together as he laid her back against her pillows and leaned over her to kiss her. She gasped as he pressed his knee between her legs, "I'm yours?"
Gil left a wide, open mouthed kiss on her pulse, making her arch her back against him. He pressed his hips into hers, pinning her to the bed. "Say it again."
"I'm yours," Thena moaned as Gil rolled his hips, letting her feel how hard he was. She had seen Gil in this very assertive mood before, but she had never been on the receiving end of it. And it was working for her.
"Again," he whispered between her breasts before running the flat of his tongue over her nipples and down. He ran his tongue over her navel and down until he could pull her panties down with his teeth.
"Yours," Thena just barely managed to get out as Gil settled himself between her legs. She was ready--she was so ready.
"Good girl."
Thena slapped her hand over her mouth--a force of habit as Gil teased her folds with his tongue. She writhed and wriggled against him, but he parted with her all too soon.
Gil crawled back up to her, his shoulder muscles moving in a way that made Thena feel particularly unhinged. He planted himself face to face with her, "you want this?"
Thena nodded, her words stuck in her throat. Her eyes bounced down.
"You want," Gil took himself in hand, still staring into her eyes, "this?"
Thena whined a little, and didn't feel embarrassed for it (at this very second. "Yes--baby, please."
Gil kissed her as he pushed in, both of them groaning in unison. They had been wanting this. They had been wanting this since before all the times they got interrupted, before the trip to Paldea, maybe even before that first accidental kiss.
"Gil," Thena moaned as he moved feverishly right from the start. Her hips moved with him, just as eager, and just as driven by desire. "Arceus, yes, there--right there!"
Gil held Thena close, both of them moving clumsily and feverishly in their close quarters. Her nails dug into his shoulders as he thrust into her, but he liked it.
Thena moaned higher and louder as their skin slapped together, growing closer and closer. Gil latched onto her neck, definitely leaving a mark she would have to cover up or risk having to make an excuse for to their pokemon. But she liked it. She ran a hand up the back of his neck and into his hair, "fuck me."
Gil pulled her closer by the thighs, pushing himself deeper. His hand slid up the front of her, scraping his calloused hand over her little pearl of nerves before settling it bellow her belly as he came.
Thena let a scream tear free from her as she followed him, throwing her head back and shaking as both their bodies writhed and grinded together, drawing out every possible drop of pleasure from one another.
Gil rolled to his side, careful not to crush Thena under the weight of him. He panted for breath, a sheen of sweat over his skin as he stared up at her ceiling. He took a few more breaths before looking over at her. She was so beautiful. "Hey."
"Hey," she opened her eyes just to smile at him, bright and dazzling and awfully cute. She was also breathless and practically giggling with elation. "That certainly made you throwing me over your shoulder worth it."
"Oh," he chuckled, blushing now that he remembered just what had happened maybe fifteen minutes ago(?). "Uh, sorry."
Thena shook her head though, leaning forward to kiss him. "I have absolutely no complaints with the results."
Gil moaned against her lips, pulling her closer again. "Think they're still out for that walk?"
"Probably," Thena mumbled between increasingly deeper kisses.
Gil grinned, rolling them over onto his back this time. He gripped her hips liberally, this time, looking up at her in all her glory, "we have time."

Would you write more about the Pokémon AU? Maybe how teddy wants to know more about Gil’s work?
"This way," Gil gestured to the procession of pokemon exiting Victory Road from the lower caves. "We'll find you somewhere nice and dry, I promise. But we need to check all of you for moisture damage, first!"
"Teddiursa!"
Gil chuckled at the little bear on his shoulder, also waving his paw to usher on the wild pokemon. His ears were sitting perfectly through the holes in the little 'assistant ranger' hat he had on for the day.
After a very intense battle between some water specialists, apparently there was a cave-in somewhere within the labyrinth of Victory Road's tunnels, leading to the evacuation of various ground and rock types for their own safety.
Thena, and many other trainers, had to help minimise the damage and keep the more aggressive pokemon population - those unwilling to evacuate - under control. She had asked Gil if he could take their little cub to work with him instead of exposing him to the dangers of her work week.
Gil looked down at a small Gible tugging at his pant leg. "What's up?"
"Gib?"
"Teddiursa!" the pokemon volunteered, clinging to Gil's shoulder as he leaned down to speak with the equally small pokemon. He pointed with a claw, gesturing to the ranger centre, where anyone looking at long-term rehabilitation would end up. "Tedd-Teddi!"
"Gible!"
"Teddi," he nodded, acknowledging the Gible's understandable worry about being displaced from his cave home. "Teddiursa!"
The Gible nodded its thanks before continuing on, weaving in between Tyrannitar and Rhyhorn and Gigaliths on its way to brave the pokemon centre all by itself.
"Hey," Gil gave Teddi's cheek a gentle nudge, "you did great, bud. You're a real pro."
"Ursa!" the little cub giggled as Gil poked his fuzzy cheeks. He attempted to maintain his more serious facade for work, tugging at the little scarf he had also been given to identify his deputisation.
"I think that's the last of this group," Gil sighed, checking things off his list before exporting it on his tablet. There was always more work to do in their business.
"Teddi," the cub poked Gil's cheek gently with a claw, "Teddiursa."
"It's okay, buddy," Gil assured his assistant, patting his hat between his ears as they moved into the caves. "Mama's a pro; she can take care of herself."
"Teddiursa?"
"Y'know, she probably is," Gil agreed. Thena was plenty knowledgeable on her own, and her specialty in pokemon nutrition and physiology probably helped her on a daily basis in her work for the Plateau. "You've learned a lot from her too."
"Ted!" the cub nodded with a prideful grin on his muzzle. He always paid very close attention when Thena was telling him about what vitamins and ingredients she was adding to homemade food, or even just to enhance the nutrition of store bought pokechow.
Gil smiled; Thena's food made for humans was just barely edible, but she was a master chef when it came to pokemon nutrition. Although she always tried to credit him and his degree in pokemon ecology for that. Apparently pro trainers received a negligible education on pokemon nutrition when they were testing to enter the league roster.
He was pretty sure she was good at it just because she cared so much.
"Looks like things have calmed down in here a bit," Gil remarked as they walked further into the caves. "You can probably go to work with Thena again tomorrow."
"Ted...Teddi?"
"Huh?" Gil looked at the bear sinking down on his shoulder with a shy expression. He tipped the brim of Teddi's hat up to better look at him. The Little Cub Pokemon did indeed have a guilty little look on his muzzle. "You wanna come to work with me again?"
"Teddiursa!" it beamed, looking as excited as it did the first time Thena said they could go for a flight with Dragonite. "Ted-Teddi!"
Gil wasn't sure why he was so shocked. Teddiursa had always been curious about what he and Thena did for work. He paid attention when Thena taught him about type advantages and their various needs and natures and abilities. And he always paid attention when Gil was teaching him about habitats and ecosystems and food networks. Maybe the combination of those two things had made him curious about being a ranger. "You don't wanna be a battle pokemon?"
"Ted," the little bear looked down again, clutching at the shoulder of Gil's vest, "Teddi."
"Well, you don't have to evolve if you don't want to, bud," Gil assured the little fella, patting his back as they walked. His pom-pom tail tickled the back of Gil's hand as it wiggled. "Mama would never want you to do something you didn't want to. I'm pretty sure she's too protective of you to let you start battling anyway."
"Ted!" the bear laughed.
They had only talked about Teddiursa's impending evolution a few times. He didn't know many attacks, and it wasn't as if Thena didn't protect him at all costs in any given situation. They were quite sure they had some time, although they were happy to accept if it did happen eventually.
"You wanna stay Mama's little cub?" Gil smiled, tickling the bear under the chin, at which his back paws kicked in delight. It could still catch him by surprise: how much it warmed his heart to witness the bond between Thena and the little orphan he rescued.
"Teddi," the bear mumbled against Gil's shoulder. If he didn't want to evolve, then he didn't have to. And if he was going to be working as a ranger, there were certain advantages to staying as he was. He didn't need the changes to his abilities evolution would bring if he wasn't going to be battling professionally.
"Okay, let's talk to Mama about it, hm?" Gil suggested gently. Teddiursa nodded, his face still buried in the back of Gil's shoulder as he hung there tiredly. Gil pulled him up by the paws until he could carry him in the crook of his arm, like Thena did. "She'll be happy to see you."
"Teddi," he agreed, feeling the same as Gil carried him. He turned in his arms, big black eyes staring at the caves around them.
Gil felt the little puff ball tail wiggle again and chuckled, "you smell her?"
"Teddi!"
"Hi," Thena called back, coming into sight just a few seconds later. She waved to them as Gallade ran with her on its back. She jumped down, holding out her arms for Teddiursa, who was already jumping towards her. "Hello!"
"Teddi!" the little cub greeted, rubbing his cheek against Thena's gleefully, never mind his hat, or his ears getting smushed in the ear holes of it.
"I missed you too," Thena smiled, holding Teddiursa against her properly so she could fix the hat on his head. She had already seen it that morning, and in pictures Gil had sent her. But it was just so cute! "Did you have a good day as an assistant ranger?"
"Teddiursa!"
Thena blinked at the overwhelming, albeit positive, response. "Oh?"
"Hey," Gil greeted, moving beside her to kiss her cheek. He would be greeting her with a proper kiss if not for the cranky look on Gallade's face. He had no doubt had a long day and would be feeling more strict than usual. "How did everything go, here?"
"Not bad," Thena leaned into his kiss, further melting into the arm he slipped around her waist. "There were some Steelix who didn't want to leave, but Ninetales helped me out."
"Gallade!"
"Yes, you too," she smiled up at her partner pokemon, who crossed his arms with a scowl. "We'll go home soon, I promise."
"Gallade," it agreed, although he didn't bother to let himself back into his pokeball, either.
Gil gave Thena's far side a gentle squeeze. She looked at him and he pressed his lips to her ear, "I think it's time to find an Everstone for you-know-who."
"Really?"
"We can talk about it more at home," he smiled, patting Teddi's head sandwiched between them. "But he might...want to come to work with me again tomorrow."
"Teddiursa!"
Thena smiled down at her little cub, because of course she was open to anything that made him happy. She pressed a kiss to his hat, "okay, my Luvdisk, if that's what you want to do."
"Ted!"
"Let's go home and get some dinner, first," she suggested, much to Gallade's relief. He didn't pick her up again, choosing to walk somewhat behind the little 'family', towering over all of them with his abnormal height. "I'll make your favourite."
"Teddi!" the little cub cheered from within her warm embrace.
Gil kissed her cheek again, a little closer to her lips, "and I'll make yours."

Would love to read more Thenamesh Pokémon AU! Liked it very much?
Maybe Gil and Thena fighting against a few poachers to protect the Pokémon Gil rescued? And then some cute fluff in th end? :D
"Good work, buddy," Gil smiled, patting Dragonite's arm as it unloaded another few pokemon rescued from nets and traps. The anxious Oddish and Budew bounced down to the ground and hopped around each other. Gil knelt down to them. "I'm glad you're all safe. We have a few supplies with us, and the Chansey will check you out and make sure you're not hurt, okay?"
The grass pokemon gave him a look before moving as a group towards the friendly seeming pink pokemon waiting for them.
Dragonite leaned down to Gil, booping him with his snoot.
"Of course I am," Gil sighed, scribbling on his tablet about their new head count.
Thena was out there - with Teddiursa - battling.
She had volunteered of course, after hearing that some poachers had escaped them from last month. And they weren't in a position to say no to help from one of the best battlers in the region.
Teddiursa had come simply because he was still too young to be left home alone and too anxious to be left at the ranger centre without her for so long.
Even after being with her for a month, the little mama's-boy still preferred to be attached to her when at all possible. It wasn't so surprising, though--normal type pokemon tended to bond very deeply with their caretakers. And for all she said she discouraged it, he had yet to see Thena leave the house without Teddiursa at least seated in the hood of her coat (if not cradled in her arms like a baby).
Dragonite patted Gil's shoulder with a reassuring smile.
"You're right," Gil blew out an anxious breath, adjusting his hat on his head. "I'm just...being paranoid."
"Hey, boss," another ranger called over to him. "We've got a report of another trap getting set off at the base of the mountain!"
"Dragonite!" Gil responded immediately, climbing onto the dragon type's back and flying off the cliff and towards the mountain base. The caves were deep and extensive, but Thena had offered to keep an eye on the bottom entrance, knowing that it would be the easiest route for them to use. "Please, bud, we've gotta hurry!"
Dragonite took a nosedive, flying down to the valley floor at a dangerous angle of descent. He pulled up at the last possible second, flaring his wings out and looping around, even having to run a little as they landed.
Gil leapt off his back, running into the cave at full speed. "Thena!"
"Ursa!"
Gil's blood ran cold as he saw a very familiar head of ears and a pom-pom tail running out of the cave towards him. He leaned down, receiving the little cub in his arms. "What happened?!"
"T-T-Ted-Teddi--"
"Okay, okay," Gil held up a hand, encouraging Teddiursa to take deep breaths with him. The little bear did his best, filling its tiny lungs and keeping its tears at bay. "Buddy, just look at me. Where is Thena?"
The little cub pokemon began at the beginning as Gil took off running again. It told him all about how Thena was patrolling the caves when the ceiling opened up and nets came down. They got a bunch of the Quagsire in the shallow ponds, as well as Thena.
She had taken Teddiursa out of her hood and pushed him through one of the wider loops of the net, insisting he go and get help instead of being caught with her.
"It's okay," Gil reassured the little guy, who was now fully crying as he recounted the sight of his Mama being dragged away from him by bad guys. And that was overlooking the fact that he had relived the landslide that had separated him from his Ursaring pack in the first place.
"Ursa!"
"I know, I'm worried about her too, bud," Gil patted the little bear's head, snuggled into his vest as he ran. "Don't worry, Mama's gonna be just fine."
"Ted!" the little bear nodded, doing away with his tears with their rescue mission in mind. He looked up at Gil, "Teddiursa?"
Well, no, he didn't have pokemon to battle with. He had very little experience with battling, really, having always known he was going to be a pokemon ranger. It just suited him more to be in pokemon care and conservation as opposed to traditional training.
Thena was made for pokemon battling.
She was so strong, and she bonded so deeply with the pokemon in her care. They were an amazing team. She was smart, resourceful, she knew the ups and downs of every pokemon's type and strengths and weaknesses.
"Teddi," Gil breathed deeply, running through the burn in his lungs. "Does she have Gallade with her?"
Teddiursa's eyes sparked at the name of the pokemon it had quickly come to see as an older brother. "Teddi!"
Gil felt a little reassured by that, at least. Thena's partner pokemon was just as strong and just as temperamental as she was. Even if he was in a pokeball, he would know Thena was in danger and fight to protect her.
"Please!" Gil shouted to a Luxray running on a ridge above them. He raised up his badge, "I need your help! My friend-!"
The electric type looked down at them, eyeing them with its intimidating eyes, black fur bristling.
"She got taken by the poachers!" Gil continued to plead with the wild pokemon, which had at least leapt down to come closer to them. "I have to save her. Just give me a ride--you don't have to stick around to fight them with me."
"Lux!"
Teddiursa laughed with excitement as Gil jumped onto the back of the Gleam Eyes pokemon. Gil put a hand on his vest, inside which Teddiursa was snuggled. It raised a paw, pointing with its claw. "Teddiursa!"
"Thena!"
Thena and Gallade were backed up against a wall, in front of the wild Quagsire, both of them with their fists raised. Of course Thena would fight a pokemon poacher with her bare hands, if need be. She and Gallade were ride or die, and had been since he was a shy little ralts.
"Thena!" Gil called out, hoping to offer his help before she started trying to fight a Golbat with her own fists.
"Who the hell-?!"
Gil jumped off Luxray's back as it slid over to them. It did stick around, for which Gil was thankful. It snapped its teeth and crackled with electricity, making the poachers' Golbat a little more wary of them.
"Teddi!"
Thena's eyes went wide with relief as her little bear leapt from Gil's vest into her arms. She spun him around in her arms, holding his head under her chin with his ears brushing against her cheeks. "Oh, thank Arceus you're okay!"
"Teddiursa!" the little bear nuzzled against her. He looked up at Gallade, "ted?"
"Gallade," the fighting/psychic type patted the little bear's head, congratulating him on the job well done.
"Golbat, get us that cub!"
Oh, that was not how this was going to work. Gil held out a hand in front of Thena and Teddiursa. Gallade bent his taller form over them.
"Luxray, thunder fang 'em!"
Gil really did owe the wild pokemon a debt of gratitude. It had really come to his aid, and now really was battling with him. The lynx pokemon leapt into the air, easily sinking its teeth into the Golbats' wings, surging with electricity and making them plummet to the cave ground.
"Let's get outta here!"
"Paralyze them!" Gil pointed, sending the assisting pokemon after them. Its speed spoke for itself, catching the three male poachers and freezing them on the spot with a painful - but non-lethal - dose of static. It wandered back to him more slowly. Gil removed his hat, bowing his head to the pokemon in respect. "Thank you, for helping me save my family."
Perhaps with a family of its own to care for, the pokemon acknowledged Gil in return, before heading deeper into the cave again.
Gil turned, breathing out a sigh of relief as he pulled Thena and Teddiursa into his embrace. He buried his nose against Thena's sunshine hair. "You're okay."
Gallade patted Gil's shoulder, still holding onto its trainer.
Thena laughed faintly as she tried to pull back, only for Gil to wrap his arms around her waist and press his forehead to hers. She could feel the sweat there, and the brim of his hat getting tipped up against her head. "Gil, it's okay. Everyone's okay."
"Ursa," Teddiursa offered in comfort as well, reaching up from Thena's embrace to pat Gil's cheek with his paw.
"Okay," he sniffed, trying to get a hold of himself. Even with Dragonite having gone back to the other rangers, he still had a job to do. "Okay--you're right, w-we should go."
"Gallade," Thena asked with a frown, "could you carry them back with us?"
"Gal," he nodded, knowing that he was the strongest for the job, even with Gil here now. It walked over to the static-y poachers, loading them both up on one of its shoulders.
Thena leaned down to the huddle of terrified Quagsire, just now removing their flippers(?) from their eyes. "You should head into the sub-basement of the caves until this all blows over. Stick together and be careful."
The amphibious pokemon all nodded to her before scurrying off, their tails dragging on the damp cave floors. Gil reached out for her hand. "Let's go."
She nodded, prepared for him to let go of her hand over the course of the long walk back out of the caves. But he never did. She looked down at their joined hands and then up at him.
Gil could feel her looking at him but didn't let go. If anything, he tightened his fingers around hers. "I'm not letting go...not yet."
Thena looked down at the cave floor, smiling into her coat collar and feeling the weight of Teddiursa in her hood. Her cheeks warmed as he threaded their fingers together. "Okay."
Gallade rolled its eyes at them.

I really love every AU you have written so far! And I have to thank you for keeping every one of them somehow alive because reading every new prompt is just saving the day!!❤️❤️
May I ask for a Pokémon AU prompt? Thenas Pokémon are telling Gil that he should have a nice dinner date with Thena so they are helping him, asking her for a date.
Just them and their Soft, funny and beautiful moment. (You decide if there will be a kiss^^)
"Gallade."
Gil nearly spit out his bite of food, instead aspirating and choking on it. He thumped his fist on his chest a few times before he finally managed to swallow it properly. He stared at the pokemon leaning against the kitchen counter, just...looking at him. "Excuse me?"
"Gal," the psychic/fighting type shrugged. Gil had heard him just fine, there was no mistake. It had said what it said. "Gallade."
"Uh," Gil stuttered, his face flushing at the deadpan request - really it sounded more like an order - to ask a certain Ace Trainer out on a date. "What...brought this on?"
But Gallade still didn't rise to Gil's flustered reaction. It did lean off the edge of the counter, looking over to the sliding side door, where Thena was mixing Dragonite a bowl of special, personalised pokechow. Teddiursa was watching her do it, in a phase of being fascinated with every process he witnessed. "Lade."
Gil blinked at the very simple statement of Thena's happiness. He supposed he could see what her pokemon meant. She wasn't always the most expressive person in the region, but certainly Gil could always tell what she was thinking or feeling. And yeah, maybe recently it had been easier to read a clear lightness and happiness off of her. And yeah, maybe she seemed to be in a pretty good mood, even after long days in Victory Road or when he got in late and literally woke her up from waiting for him. And yeah, maybe it was really cute, and made him really happy to see her so happy.
"Gal-Gallade."
Gil just wasn't sure if it could really be said that he was the reason for that happiness. Was he happy that Thena was happy?--of course! But to say that he was the reason for it. Gil nodded his head at the low patio on the side of the house, where Teddiursa was watching over Thena's shoulder as she pointed out the elements of Dragonite's specially tailored and nutritious meal. "You don't think that has something to do with it?"
Gallade smiled, its fondness for its new teammate and little brother showing through. It might have accepted Teddiursa as a mere presence at first, but even he had to admit that the little cub fit right into their family.
Gil looked at Gallade again as it basically argued that Teddiursa was far from the only reason for his trainer's recent spike in happiness. "Noticed what?"
"Gallade, Gal-Gallade," he continued, moving his hand(?) in a very human way as he chatted with Gil. They had known each other for a long time, after all--before Gallade was even a Gallade at all. It had known Gil all this time, and been able to notice that he and Thena clearly were bonded. But it was more recently that the bond seemed to 'change' as the pokemon phrased it.
"Change how?" Gil frowned, although Gallade was quick to assuage his worries. Gil hadn't really thought about their relationship being all that different--certainly he hadn't noticed any big, dramatic shifts between them.
There were some...significant events, sure. But maybe the repercussions from them had set in more slowly than he had really realised. From Teddiursa's arrival, to them becoming 'Mama' and 'Papa' to the little cub, to the Beware incident and beyond. And of course there was that one time...
"Gallade," it said more firmly, pulling Gil out of his thoughts. This wasn't about him thinking about things too hard. This was about him and Thena finally acting on feelings everyone could clearly see they had.
Gil scoffed, "we do not."
"Ninetales."
"Not you too," Gil sighed as the fire/psychic type walked over to them. Her tails swished as she settled in the kitchen to be part of the discussion that was making Gil feel more and more ganged up on. "I don't-"
"Nine."
Gil blushed. Well, sure, maybe he did have some feelings for Thena that were not...entirely friendship based. But surely that just came with the territory of someone's best friend being perfect in every way. Friends could be friends and also be smart, and beautiful, and talented, and a great trainer, and sweet, and caring, and humble, and devoted, and mindful of the environment, and a good mother, and-
"Gallade!"
"Look," Gil held up a hand to both the stubborn pokemon staring him down. "Even if I did have feelings for Thena--which I'm not saying I do!"
Gallade actually rolled its eyes at him (the nerve).
"That doesn't mean she has those feelings for me."
"Nine?" the fox pokemon looked up at Gil, utter disbelief - and maybe some amusement - on her muzzle. Her tails swished on the kitchen floor letting him know how unconvinced she was. "Ninetales."
It was hard to argue with a part psychic type that could read the occasional mind. Not that Thena's mind needed reading, as far as Ninetales was concerned, her trainer's adoration of Gil being so obvious (apparently).
"Ninetales-Nine," the pokemon continued, utterly remorseless about telling Gil all about Thena's increased thoughts of him, her eagerness to see him at every possible opportunity, even her new habit of sighing every few minutes. And that was nothing to say of her increased heart rate whenever he was around.
"Gallade," it interjected, trying to argue a more action based approach. No matter the evidence presented, it didn't matter unless one of them actually did something about it. And Gallade was through with leaving it up to his trainer to make the first move for herself. "Lade."
She still hadn't entirely forgiven him for the stunt he pulled that one time.
Gil blushed again, looking out at Thena, chatting with Dragonite so he wouldn't have to eat outside alone, or cram himself into her modest little kitchen. Teddiursa was sitting in her lap, happy just to be in his Mama's presence.
Gallade poked Gil in the cheek, just to make sure the ranger was aware that he was, in fact, smiling like a fool.
"Ugh," Gil swatted the hand(?) away, "yes, thank you, I get it."
"Gallade."
"I don't know," Gil sighed at the persistence of their conversation. He looked over, now finding that even Froslass had joined them. For all he knew, the ghost had been there the whole time, invisible to his human eye. "What if...what if it doesn't work? What if that's not how we're meant to be and I...ruin it?"
"Froslass?" the sensitive ice/ghost type frowned, tilting her head at him.
"What if," Gil paused, leaning on the counter and dropping his head, "what if I ruin the best thing in my life?"
"Gallade?"
"Of course she is!" Gil barked in response, raising his head but still stuck looking at Thena outside, bathed in midday sun with the mountain wind tossing her hair around. "How could she not be?! She is the best part of every single day I have! Days I don't see Thena are--are awful! They're the worst--they don't even count as days! They just one long, miserable stretch of time!"
The three pokemon let him go on.
Gil let out a laugh, unable to stop now that the ball was rolling. "You think I can have a good day without that?!"
He held out his hand, pointed in the direction of Thena, her head tossed back in laughter.
"Impossible! I'd rather be on Garbador duty for a month! I could have the worst shift of my Arceus forsaken life!--and if I get to see Thena smile, then everything's fine! I know my job isn't easy. I love it, and I'm happy to do it, but it's not like I can be happy every single second I'm at work."
"But being with Thena?" Gil slammed his head down on the counter, letting out a kind of muffled shriek into his hands. The pokemon startled faintly but still didn't interrupt. He raised his head, leaving his chin on his hands as he looked at her. "It's what I was meant to do."
Arceus and Celebi and all the legends in between: the ranger was done for.
Gil groaned as he felt a cold hand(???) pat him on the shoulder, "thanks, Froslass."
"Fross!"
Gil picked his head up, looking at all three pokemon trying to encourage him. "Are you sure?"
"Froslass," the ghost tapped his shoulder again and pointed outside at her trainer.
Gil wasn't sure what she was trying to convey to him--he didn't have any ghostly powers for him to know what they were saying. But he did watch as Thena talked with Dragonite, now making the large dragon type laugh and flap his wings in delight. She gestured for him to lean down, swiping some crumbs away with the scarf around his neck. He let her happily, his tail swishing around.
Just like Gil had known Gallade as a shy little Ralts, Thena had been there when Dragonite had hatched as an itty bitty Dratini. She had even held Gil as he'd cried tears of joy after hatching his first egg all on his own, outside of work.
"Fross," the ghost nudged him, telling him to keep watching.
Thena turned her attention to Teddiursa, as the little cub began its part of the conversation. Her smile was bright as it talked and gestured out parts of its story.
Gil loved that smile.
"Froslass."
"Maybe," Gil inhaled, looking at Thena and drifting out of the kitchen as he was drawn to her inexorably. "Maybe you're right."
Gallade's jaw dropped--that was it? He had been trying to convince the ranger and their trainer to act on this for months - although it felt like literal years - and that was all it had taken? The ghost that had joined their team only two months before Teddiursa was the one to convince him?!
"Ninetales," the second-longest standing team member offered in condolences. She picked herself up and wandered back to her bed by the fireplace, content that at least something was going to happen after all this.
Gil slid the patio door open and shut it behind him. "Hey."
"Hey," Thena smiled, twisting around to look at him and tucking one of her legs into the other at the knee. "Teddi was telling me about a herd of Bouffalant in the valley."
"They're migrating," Gil smiled, sitting himself down with a chuckle. For as worked up as he had let himself get mere moments ago, he felt a lot calmer now. Looking at Thena just had that effect on him, maybe. "We're spending the next few days making sure they don't invade the Tauros' space too much as they all settle for the spring."
Thena looked down at their little bear, "would you like to go see them down in the valley tomorrow?"
"Teddi!"
Gil watched the little bear bound up Thena's arm to her shoulder, nuzzling his fuzzy cheek against hers. She picked the bear up to tickle its tummy, relishing in its laughter. And when Teddi laughed, Thena laughed.
"I have the day shift."
Thena looked at Gil, at the sudden declaration and the way he'd said it. "That's good."
"And," he inhaled, trying to keep his focus while Thena looked at him, the wind at her back, the sun on her cheek, the valley slightly out of focus behind her. "Since I'm off nights this week, what about...dinner?"
Thena let out a faint laugh, trying to discern where he was going with this. "Well, you're the one always reminding me to eat it, so I'm sure we could-"
"No, I mean," Gil leaned forward, pulling her extended leg to slide her closer to him. He held her eyes, encouraged by the way her pupils grew wide and her breathing hitched. "Dinner...just you and me."
She blinked at him, her lashes fluttering, breathing quickened. A faint flush rose in her cheeks, "you and me?"
"Me and you," he smiled. Maybe this wasn't such a bad idea after all.
"O-Okay."
Gil wound their fingers together, pulling her closer despite Teddiursa in her lap and Dragonite sitting behind him with its jaw dropped. He let his lips move against Thena's naturally--almost too naturally for being 'just friends'. He pulled back with a grin.
"It's a date."

Hello. What if Gil is flying on the back of dragonite to check the field and when dragonite sees Thena he joyfully and carelessly rushes to her forgetting that Gil is on his back. When dragonite suddenly stops on the ground beside Thena Gil looses his grip and falls pretty hard on his back and even loses consciousness for a few minutes?
Would be a little hurt comfort for Thenamesh Pokémon AU
Gil groaned, turning over in bed. He reached out for the closest comfort, finding something soft to bury his nose against. He smiled to himself, "Thena."
"Ursa?"
"Hm?" Gil hummed with a sigh. It was rare for him to wake up with a headache, and his back was killing him. He tightened his arms around what he thought was Thena. Although he wasn't smelling mountain air and her clover-honey shampoo. It smelled like razz berries and whatever laundry detergent she used. "Thena?"
"Ur," the little cub poked Gil in the head again, "sa. Ursa!"
Gil blinked, fully woken up by the claw poking his cheek just gently enough not to draw blood. He looked around him, finding Teddiursa seated on the pillow next to him. Thena had never been next to him, it was their little bear cub.
That was only a little disappointing.
"What happened?" Gil asked as he rolled onto his back to stare up at his ceiling. Except it wasn't his ceiling, it was Thena's. He looked over at the edge of the bed where Dragonite was resting his chin with a remorseful look on his face. "Do I wanna know?"
Dragonite let out a long, drawn out sigh before explaining the situation. They had been on patrol when they had spotted Thena on the ground waving to them. Dragonite, in his own words(?), described how he had nose dived to meet her, somewhat forgetting that Gil wasn't actually strapped into his harness, rather holding onto it lightly. In his excitement, Dragonite hadn't cushioned the landing and all but tossed Gil down to the ground at a pretty intense velocity.
No wonder his back hurt so much.
"Aw, it's okay, buddy," Gil smiled at his poor partner pokemon, who was whining at him with tears in its eyes. He patted the dragon type on the snoot, "I know you didn't mean to."
"He hasn't left your side."
Gil didn't exactly jump up out of bed, but he rolled his head to look at Thena as she walked in. She was clearly done with training for the day, dressed in cozy and casual home clothes as she walked in with a glass of water and some pills.
"I could barely get him to stop crying for the first hour," Thena smiled, letting Dragonite lean his head against her stomach for comfort. She petted its head between its antennae. "Had to move my bed so he could fit next to it.
Now that she mentioned it, it was oddly off centre from the rest of the room, Gil realised. But that made sense--her bedroom wasn't designed to house a fully grown Dragonite in addition to her queen sized bed.
Dragonite looked up at her with watery eyes until she kissed the tip of his nose to comfort him.
She sat beside Gil, bending one knee as she leaned over him. "Take these, it'll help with at least some of the pain."
"Thanks," he murmured, accepting the pills and tossing them back right away. He raised the glass of water to his lips. Thena's hand was at the back of his head, raising it up just enough to swallow. "How long have I...?"
"Dragonite brought you back to the house a few hours ago," Thena said softly, tucking some hair behind her ear. "I already called the ranger centre and explained the situation. They said you're fine to stay the night here and report back in the morning if you're feeling up to it."
"Right," Gil sighed. He felt like he was cashing an awful lot of sick days in the past few months.
"Stop worrying about it."
Gil opened his eyes again, finding Thena leaning over into his line of view. Arceus, she was beautiful.
"You work longer and harder than anyone there, Gil," Thena asserted, not willing to accept any argument on whether or not he should return to work. "You need to rest."
"Okay, okay," he chuckled. He looked over to find Teddiursa mimicking her stern expression, his little paws crossed at him. Gil poked him in the tummy, immediately breaking his serious facade. "What did you two get up to today?"
Thena picked up Teddiursa and placed him delicately on top of Gil's chest. "You tell him all about it. I'm just going to get another blanket."
Gil watched her go, wanting to open his mouth and ask her to come lie down with him. But he kept quiet, shifting his attention to their little cub as he started going through what had brought them out to the valley in the first place.
Dragonite watched on from the side of the bed, still worriedly keeping an eye on his dear ranger. He looked up with a smile as Thena came back, throwing the largest blanket she had over his back for him, as well as giving him another kiss on the horn.
"Um," Gil spoke up from his spot in the centre of her bed, "he gets one and I don't?"
"What do you think this is?--the pokemon centre?" Thena teased him right back, although she was already on her way to throwing another blanket over him, despite him already being snuggled under her duvet.
Teddiursa wiggled his way out from under the extra blanket. "Ursa!"
"Sorry, buddy, go on," Gil chuckled, still listening to Teddi even though his eyes were on Thena. She drifted away from the bed again and he cleared his throat (loudly).
Thena turned back to him, wondering what he needed. He held out his hand and flexed his fingers at her. "What?"
He repeated the motion behind Teddiursa's back. His eyes held hers as she came back to him until he could hold her hand in his. He even laced their fingers together for good measure.
"What do you need, Gil?" she asked gently, ready to do whatever it took to make him feel better.
He pulled at her hand, Teddiursa chattering on underscoring their silent conversation. She shook her head but he pulled again, "please?"
Thena sighed. How could she say no to him when he was looking at her like that? "Gil."
"I'll sleep much better," he promised her, which they both knew was Tauros-shit.
Thena rolled her eyes at him but let him pull her onto her own bed with him. She settled on top of her covers and duvet, although Gil and Teddiursa both fixed the extra blanket so it was over her as well.
"Teddi?"
"Yes, sweetheart, go on," Thena smiled, even though the cub pokemon was describing the day they had passed together. She would know everything he was about to say, but she wasn't about to interrupt her little sweetie-poffin.
Gil let his head roll to the side so he could look at Thena next to him. Teddiursa was still talking excitedly, but Gil focused on the feeling of rubbing his thumb against the softness of Thena's skin.
Thena kept her eyes on him as he drifted off to sleep in record time. She wasn't entirely sure what had prompted him to ask her to lie down with him, but she obviously wasn't good at saying no to him.
"Ursa?"
"Yes, he's asleep," she whispered to Teddi as she pulled the covers up higher over their ranger. She looked at him, and then at Dragonite, "did either of you mention...?"
Both pokemon shook their heads, though.
Thena had been lying next to Gil up until about 15 minutes before he woke up. She hadn't intended on telling him, though, so she didn't know how he had somehow known to ask her to do it again.

I see your thenamesh pkmn au and I raise you: Gilgamesh is actually a pokemon ranger! Rather than training and battling pokemon, he has a bond with them! He protects locals from enraged pokemon, he helps deal with ecological problems, he even arrests pokemon poachers. It's got all the bang for its buck of Gil being a protector and a fighter. They absolutely adore each other, Gil for Thena's absolute scary proficiency in battling and Thena for Gil's love and conservation of pokemon. >:D
"Gil!"
"Thena!" he waved, able to spot her from a mile away. He grunted as Dragonite started a descent maybe way, way too quick. "Whoa, buddy, I wanna see her too, but you've gotta slow down. Dragonite--Dragonite, please, pal, slow down! Slow-!"
Thena laughed as Dragonite swooped in, picking her up in its arms and hugging her gleefully. She liked to act like she was annoyed by it, but she never put up much of a fight when it happened. "Hi, Dragonite, I missed you too."
"Buddy, you're killin' me back here."
"Gil!" Thena gasped as he, letting go of the safety harness between Dragonite's wings, slid down the curve of his tail and dropped to the ground. She kicked her legs to be let down, crouching beside him. "Are you okay?"
He picked himself up, fixing his hat and then letting out the straps of his backpack, setting it beside him. "It was quite a morning."
Thena took a seat next to him on the cliff overlooking the valley tucked between mountain peaks. "Poachers?"
"Yes and no," Gil frowned, pulling out some supplies from his bag. "We seem to have cleared them from the area, but there are still a lot of repercussions we're seeing. Tauros are displaced, there are wild Hydreigon fighting with Tyranitar in the caves. They really did a number on the ecosystems."
Thena sighed. She had heard all about the poachers from Gil, as well as some of the other rangers stationed in the area. She had even joined him on a few missions to arrest them. But he was right, the wild pokemon population wasn't going to recover in a day.
"That's how I found this little guy," Gil announced, pulling open his pack and unveiling a large head with even larger ears. "Come on out, bud, it's okay."
"Teddi?"
"This is my friend Thena," Gil smiled, fishing the young Teddiursa out of his pack and holding the little guy in his hands. "We found him among the rubble of a landslide. Probably got separated from the rest of the pack after that huge Rhydon battle in the north caverns."
"Poor thing," Thena frowned. She tilted her head at the little bear pokemon. It tilted its head right back at her, toddling its way over to her. She watched it carefully, until it leaned against her arm, latching on with a fierceness. "Hello."
"Ursa?" it looked up at her, eyes all wide.
She used her other hand to ruffle the fur between its ears. She looked up at Gil, who had the same sappy look on his face he always got when he was rescuing a pokemon. "Looks like you when you first hatched Dragonite."
"He likes you," Gil beamed, utterly enchanted to see the little bear clinging to Thena. It was a marked improvement from trembling in fear inside his backpack all morning. He pulled open one of the bottles filled with vitamins, "come on, little guy."
The young pokemon turned its face further into Thena's arm, burying its cold, wet nose against her.
Gil sighed. This had been the struggle earlier too, "buddy, it's good for you. You have to eat."
"Teddiursa!"
Thena let out a faint laugh. It was so cute to watch Gil argue with a literal baby. But this was what made him such a great ranger--his ability to work that charm he had with everyone, from people to pokemon; from a baby Teddiursa to the biggest, meanest Salamence. "Come on, maybe he'll eat inside."
"Dragonite," Gil stood, "will you go back to base camp and tell the others I'm working on the Teddiursa situation?"
The orange dragon saluted his paw(?) to his head and nodded. He waved at Thena before taking off again.
Gil followed Thena back to her cozy little house she had on the cliffside. "I really don't know who he thinks hatched him, me or you."
"It was a joint effort," Thena laughed. Really, it had been Gil who had taken such amazing care of the egg. Thena had been there when the Dratini hatched, but it was undoubtedly Gil to whom the dragon was bonded immediately.
Gil sighed as soon as he stepped into the cabin home. It smelled like Thena--and a few of her pokemon, of course. "Hey, guys!"
"Everyone, this is Teddiursa," Thena introduced properly, speaking softly with the little bear held in her arms. It looked around the room nervously before burying its face against her again. "Gil rescued him just this morning, so he's a bit nervous."
"Gallade?"
"I don't know," Thena looked up at her battle partner. He stood off the couch, leaning over her shoulder to look at the little bundle of fur. "As long as he needs to."
Ninetales sniffed over to them, letting its psychic energy draw what conclusions it needed.
"There's my girl," Gil greeted the fox pokemon with a bright smile. She bounded over to him, happily letting him run his hands over her fur. He had rescued her back as a vulpix. It had been the fire type's desire to battle that made her such a good match for Thena, he'd found as he'd nursed her back to health. "Your fur's so shiny! Someone's been using the zinc supplements I recommended."
Thena rolled her eyes at them. "Yes, I continue to spoil her by your recommendation, against my better judgement."
Gil snorted at that. As if Thena didn't take the best care of her pokemon he'd ever seen in a pro trainer. She could easily be part of the league, maybe even Champion class. But she kept insisting she had no desire to be confined to the plateau day in and day out as an Elite 4 or the like. And being free to roam Victory Road did suit her more.
"Froslass?"
"Hello again," Gil greeted the newest to Thena's team, taking off his hat for the lady. She had actually kidnapped him into an ice cave, thinking his soul was ripe for the plucking when she found him.
It was Thena who had come to his rescue, fighting Froslass off with Ninetales. It had been so impressed with her that it had excitedly asked to join her team, although Thena made a point of telling her that she would no longer be bringing 'handsome men' off the mountain with her.
"Froslass," Thena turned to her ghost with a stern voice. She was entirely aware of the phantom's fondness for Gil. "Leave him be."
"Ah, she's okay," Gil waved off, enjoying the bright smile he got from the ice/ghost in return. He had always thought a ghost type would suit Thena, it was just a question of which one. And she and Froslass both had a certain pretty quality to them.
"Come on," Thena said softly, the little bear still trembling in her arms. She reached into the cupboard, pulling out a basket of berries. She turned, "is this okay for him to eat?"
"Oran should be fine," Gil advised, walking right over to her, leaning against the counter and touching a hand to her back. "I didn't want to give him anything sweeter than a sitrus in case he'd been gorging on them in the woods."
"That's true," Thena murmured. She shifted Teddiursa against her, pushing one of the supplements into the core of the berry. It reached out its paws, claws extending for the fruit. She drew it back, "ah! Medicine and all."
It pouted at her, "teddi..."
"Medicine," she pressed, holding the oran as tightly as a pokeball. "Or no berry."
The little bear huffed, but nodded. Its face brightened instantaneously as soon as the oran berry was in its paws. "Teddiursa!"
Thena smiled as the little thing gobbled up the berry, vitamin mix included. "He is kind of sweet."
"Ace trainer Thena, all soft eyed over a cute pokemon?" Gil chuckled, bumping his hip against hers ever so gently. "Never thought I'd see the day."
Thena just rolled her eyes at him, watching the little pokemon stuff its face. She reached up, brushing some stray crumbs out of the fur of its muzzle.
Gil was looking at Thena.
Gallade was looking at both of them, thoroughly unimpressed. But he was used to this with his trainer, thickheaded as she was. If it wasn't a pokemon battle, she wasn't going to understand it any time soon. "Lade."
"Nine," his comrade shared in his plight, settling herself on her bed by the fireplace.
"Hey," Gil said softly, now that Teddiursa was done with his meal. "I should go."
"Okay," Thena nodded, trying not to look too disappointed to learn he had to return to duty. She had almost forgotten it in the quiet moment of them in her kitchen. She looked up, just now realising how close they had gotten while watching over his rescue. She looked down again, hoping her elevated heart rate wouldn't startle the little cub.
"Teddi?"
"Come on, buddy," Gil extended his arms, ready for it to be transferred from Thena's arms to his. "Let's get you back to the ranger centre."
"Teddi!"
They both blinked at the little bear, crossing his paws indignantly. Thena looked at Gil. He shook his head. "Come on, pal, there's a pokemon centre--we'll get you all healed up."
"Teddi!"
"Sweetheart," Thena joined in with a stern tone, trying to physically deposit the cub into Gil's hands. It clung to her forearm. "Don't you want to see the rest of your pack? The Chansey and Audino will heal you and then you can go be in the wild. Won't that be fun?"
"Teddiursa!" it protested loudly, clinging to Thena with all its little might. Gil let go of its belly and it curled its legs around her wrist as well.
Thena looked at the bear, attached to her arm like a Komala to its birth tree. She turned to Gil, holding out a hand.
"Uh," Gil put his hat back on, eyeing the distressed pokemon with a chuckle. "I'm gonna be honest, we usually try not to force it, in situations like these."
"What do you mean, situations like these?!" Thena whispered/hissed as Teddiursa began inching up her arm like a tree branch. "You encounter this often?"
He laughed, which Thena visibly didn't appreciate. But it was so cute! "Well, no, but come on. The little guy just misses his mom, and you were the one to feed him."
"You were the one who carried him around all morning," she protested. Although, like with Dragonite, she didn't exactly force the little bear away from her either.
"And clearly it didn't bond to me at all," Gil shrugged. Part of being a ranger was knowing which battles could be 'won' and which needed a different approach. "Look, I'll check in tonight again, okay? If he hasn't detached by then, you might just...have a new pokemon."
Thena sighed, although she had to admit, she couldn't bear the thought of trying to rip the little cub off her arm anymore than Gil - with his big, soft heart - could. She looked at it, and, as if sensing her gaze, it looked back at her.
"Teddi?" His eyes were big as saucers, glassy and pleading not to be taken away.
Thena sighed. She looked at Gallade, sitting on the couch and watching tv. "What do you think?"
"Gal-Gallade," it waved its hand at her. If the cub was that attached to her, why upset it? He wasn't going to have a problem with it, nor would Ninetales.
"Froslass!" the ghost pokemon materialised just to smile down at the little cub, who laughed as she disappeared again.
Thena withered. Even her antisocial ghost was onboard. She looked down at the cub. "Fine, you can stay. But this behaviour is not going to be sticking around. Do you understand that?"
"Teddiursa!" The little bear lifted its paws in celebration, only to latch onto her neck in a full embrace.
Thena sighed, letting it rub its fur against her cheek. "I suppose I have a Teddiursa now?"
Gil snapped a quick pic. "That's so cute."
"Gil!"
"Okay," he waved, settling his bag on his back again, "I'll see you tonight!"
Teddiursa waved, happily clinging to Thena's shoulder as Gil closed the door behind him.

For Thenamesh Pokémon AU. Gil is sick but still working and caring about the Pokémon in his care (because he is sweet and he can be stubborn too).Thena visits him (not knowing he is sick) when she suddenly sees him collapsing in the middle of taking care of some Pokémon.
Looking forward for this story!<3
"Achoo!!!"
Many, many heads turned at the unbearably loud sneeze ringing out through the valley. Plenty of people turned at the sound, as well as pokemon.
Including the pokemon currently being herded by the congested pokemon ranger.
"Sorry, sorry," Gil muttered, swiping at his nose with a tissue as he continued to wave along the herd of Swinub and Piloswine mid-migration. "This way, guys. The ice caves will be a nice even temperature for you."
"Hey, boss, you sure you don't wanna take a rest?"
"I'm fine, I'm fine," Gil waved off, even as he felt another sneeze coming on. "We still have to get all the Miltank rounded up t-to...too...ah-CHOO!!"
"Gilgamesh!"
Both Gil and the junior ranger's backs snapped straight. The junior ranger quickly made himself scarce, leaving Gil to fend for himself as the queen of ace trainers herself walked over.
He attempted his most charming smile, "full name?"
"You deserve it," Thena frowned at him, putting her hands on her hips as she looked at him. "You're visibly sick."
"It's not bad, really," Gil tried to insist again, sliding his tablet under his arm and swiping at his nose with his tissue again. "Just a little head cold. And these herds need to move within the next few hou-"
"The wild pokemon will live, Gil, and you have other rangers who can help them," Thena huffed, happy to get in his face about it. It wasn't like there were any witnesses to it (besides the odd Swinub); the rest of his crew had all but fled at her appearance. "You should be in bed!"
"Thena, I'm fine, really!"
"You're in a t-shirt and vest!" She took the liberty of turning him and pushing him in the direction of the ranger centre. "That's like saying you have a blanket when you're really just wearing a poncho."
Gil let out a laugh; Thena was always at her funniest when she was in no mood for jokes.
"Gil!"
Thank Arceus she wasn't calling him Gilgamesh, though. Well, she could, just not if it was because she was mad at him.
"Ursa!"
"Oh, hey buddy!" Gil tried to turn around and get a look at their little cub, but Thena kept on pushing him. "Thena, I'm going, really."
"If I hadn't shown up, you would have worked through the rest of your shift, I've no doubt," she grumbled at him.
"Because we're busy!"
"If Dragonite had a cold you would never let him work a full shift, let alone outdoors at the top of the mountain!"
Okay, she had a point there. Gil sighed, giving in and walking a little more cooperatively. Thena did at least stop pushing and shoving him, although he clearly wasn't going to get away with anything as she fell in step with him. "What brought you here, anyway?"
Thena adjusted her hood, which adjusted the little bear sitting in it. "Teddi was restless at home and wanted to come see you."
"Ted!" the little Teddiursa smiled at Gil from the warm haven of Thena's coat hood, snuggled up against the back of her head.
"Aw, that's sweet," Gil grinned, ruffling the fur between Teddiursa's ears.
"Well," Thena continued, "I also wanted to see what the centre had for winter gear."
"For you?" Gil asked, immediately wondering how cold she got on a daily basis, walking around in Victory Road.
"No, for him," she let her eyes travel backward, gesturing to the Little Cub pokemon. "I'm worried about those ears getting cold when the rest of him is nice and toasty."
"I could say the same for you," Gil frowned at her as they finally reached the ranger centre and stepped inside. "If he's in your hood, that means you're not using it when you should be."
Thena crossed her arms at him. "You look even worse under the lighting in here."
Gil resisted the urge to shiver as the door opened behind them again, moving quickly away from the pokemon centre half of the main entrance and towards his office. "You're right, I should have worn my coat when I left this morning. But I'll just-"
"What you'll do," Thena followed him, "is change shifts with someone because you're in no condition to be out there."
"Thena," Gil sighed, letting her into his office ahead of him to close the door after her. "I can't just-"
Thena hadn't walked further in, but was standing right there, letting him walk his forehead directly into her palm. She held his eyes with a frown, "you're burning up."
She had a point. Gil shrugged, pulling his ball cap off and setting it on his desk.
"Gil," she said much softer, stopping him from reaching for his winter uniform hat (which was sitting on his chair, proving that he had thought about needing it and neglected it anyway). "Please?"
It was like a pin missile attack straight through the heart.
Thena looked up at him, holding his hand in hers, those green eyes putting a spell over him. "What if it were me?"
Gil froze. He was guilty, and they both knew it.
Thena walked them backwards, pulling him towards the bunk beds that were in the back of his office, the top half laden with his extra equipment. "If you came to Victory Road and I was sick, you would never let me just carry on like this."
She was right. And he was way more of a worrywart than she was. If he caught her battling while she was sick?--he wouldn't even let her finish the fight. He'd pay the losing fee and carry her out of there over his shoulder if he had to.
"You would take me back home, lecture me about how my pokemon would need me at full strength to continue my work," she raised her brows at him, at least smiling.
Gil smiled too, because he always smiled when Thena smiled at him. He didn't even notice her pulling his vest off him.
"You'd put on that stew I like," she whispered, luring him with the siren song of her warmth and her prettiness and her soft voice. "Lie me down on the couch and throw a blanket over me."
"Hm," Gil sighed, already able to imagine the comforting scent of her favourite stew mixed with the generally sweet smell of her home.
Thena switched their positions gently, easing Gil to sit on the on-call bunk. She reached behind her, pulling Teddiursa out of her hood and setting him on the floor with a whisper, "get his shoes off."
"Teddi," he nodded and dutifully set about pulling Gil's boots off (the laces would be a terrible mess of knots later).
"Just lie back, Gil," Thena soothed, easing him onto the bed and lying him down as soon as his boots were off. She pulled the blankets up over him, picking up Teddiursa and setting her little cub on top of his chest. "You make sure Papa doesn't go anywhere. I'm going to go tell the others that he's sick."
"Teddi!" he saluted her, already taking his job very seriously of weighing Gil down to keep him in bed. "Ted..."
"I'm fine, buddy, I promise," Gil smiled up at the little pokemon, patting his head again, although it didn't distract him this time. Gil sighed, dropping his head down to the pillow again and staring up at the underside of the above bunk. "I haven't slept in here for a long time."
"Ursa?"
"Mm, well I usually just go to Th--uh, Mama's house," Gil chuckled, and then had to cough a little. He sniffled and cleared his throat. "Before and after my shifts--and then I'll go home for a little and get right back to it."
"Teddiursra?" the little cub leaned in, having had no idea Gil had a house of his own.
"Oh, uh, yeah, I do," Gil blinked at the little bear through their conversation. "I don't go there a lot anymore, I guess. I'm usually just working, or with Thena. I mostly go to shower, change my clothes. If I'm getting off a couple really long shifts, I'll go back there to sleep."
"Teddi," the pokemon nodded, glad to hear at least that Gil did - on occasion - rest after he was done working. "Teddiursa?"
"No, it's not hard," Gil yawned and then coughed faintly again. "I love my job. I love taking care of pokemon like you!"
"Teddiursa!" the bear cub giggled as his belly was tickled.
"And times when I can really help them, like when I brought you to Thena," Gil sighed blissfully, sliding his hand behind his head on the pillow, "make it all worth it."
"Teddi?"
"Huh," Gil opened his eyes again, still somewhat shocked to find himself on his bunk in his office instead of on Thena's couch. "I guess I never really thought about it."
"Ted," it shrugged. As far as the Little Cub pokemon knew, Gil did live with Mama, and left only for work. It had no idea Gil didn't technically 'live with them'.
"Well," Gil fidgeted with the blanket, blushing even under his fever, "it's not that simple, buddy."
"Ted?"
Why not?
"Uh," Gil stuttered again. He really didn't have the hard-hitting answers he thought he did. Gil looked up as Teddiursa's puff ball tail wiggled a little. He gave the tail a playful little jiggle, "Mama on the way back, sport?"
It nodded.
"Listen," Gil whispered, "let's keep this little discussion between us a secret, okay? Mama...has a busy job too, y'know. She has enough to worry about for now."
"Okay," Thena sighed as she came back into the office with her coat unbuttoned and three bowls of stew in hand. "Dragonite will be off in two hours, and then he'll help me carry you back to the house. Until then, you're on bed rest here--no buts!"
Gil retracted his raised finger and slipped it under the blankets again.
"Eat this," she directed firmly, although she deposited the bowl into his hands as if it were a fragile pokemon egg. "They're getting a few park rangers to help fill in for you."
Gil sat up, stirring around the stew. It wasn't the stew he made for Thena, but it was still his recipe he'd given the cafeteria staff here at the ranger centre.
He watched as Thena pulled a bottle out of her pocket, stirring in the necessary pokechow to make the stew an appropriate meal for their little cub. She even blew on it for him, bite by bite, making sure it wouldn't burn his mouth.
He remembered the little pokemon's question: why didn't he just live with them instead of having a whole place for just himself?
He didn't have an answer to that, although he certainly felt that he was looking at his family in front of him right now.
"Hey."
Thena looked over, finding Gil staring at them with that soft expression he could get. She smiled back, handing Teddiursa the spoon for his own use. She left her own bowl on his desk in favour of kneeling next to Gil's bunk. "Just a little longer. You can get a proper rest in my bed at home."
Gil blinked his bleary eyes at her as she ran a hand over his hair. That sounded perfect. And never did returning to his own apartment ever even occur to him, he realised.
Thena leaned over, pressing a kiss to his cheek, "try to get some sleep. Dragonite will be here soon."
Yes, that sounded nice, Gil mused as he rapidly lost focus of what was in front of him. He could get a little shut-eye, Dragonite would pick him up in a nice cosy hug, carry them all back to Thena's house.
Back home.

Hello Darling! Love your Thenamesh Pokémon AU and I have a prompt request :)
let’s say Thenas entire Pokémon team gets poisoned because something is wrong with the pokefood (let’s say team rocket is doing some dumb shit again). So Thena ask Gil if he can help because all the Pokémon healing centers are filled with poisoned Pokémon.
And Gil being a absolutely sweet man helps and cares for her Pokémon as well as the others at the ranger station.
Some soft moment where Thena watches Gil how caring and sweet he is! Maybe some fluff in the end between them?
It was in the water, it was determined. The ranger centre - and every pokemon centre for half a region's distance - was overrun with poisoned pokemon.
It was an environmental pollution case, and poised for a huge class action lawsuit, from what the news was reporting. A few major companies, from Silph Co. to the Devon Corporation, were expected to face massive backlash from it.
The Pokemon Ranger Association was expected to head the actions taken against them. Even then, the rangers on active duty were running around with their heads cut off trying to keep up with the mass poisoning. Luckily it was a relatively light condition, nothing that antidote supplies and pecha berries couldn't help. Curing would just take a little time--and a lot of pokemon centre help.
Gil was supposed to be out there helping, too. And he had, through his standard shift. He had been herding poisoned pokemon all morning, having called on every steel type they could find, as well as any ground type willing to simply help them out. He had been working tirelessly.
And still he came right over to Thena's after work to help with her pokemon.
She had called him in a panic at the first signs of the toxicity in them. She used such specialised home blends for their pokechow, she couldn't fathom how they had all gotten the signs of mild poisoning. Gil had told her that they were investigating it, but the likely cause was the water. He told her to shut off her water main, run all her taps dry, order some bottled water for delivery and wait for him.
"How are they doing?" he whispered as he closed the door behind him.
It was quite a scene.
Gallade was laid on the couch, curled on his side with a blanket and a cool cloth on his forehead for the reactionary fever. Ninetales was curled up as tight as she could go on her bed, all of her tails draped over her body like an extra blanket. She also had a blanket laid over her.
He had to assume that the freezer door was open because Froslass was either hovering right in front of it or inside the freezer itself.
"I gave them each a pecha berry every half hour, and I already used all the antidotes in the house," Thena sighed, rocking a miserable little Teddiursa in her arms with a frown. "I ordered more but, well, I'm sure you know."
There was about to be a region wide supply shortage. They were already in the midst of it, most likely. He set down his bag and took his hat off.
"How's Dragonite?" she whispered, rubbing Teddiursa's forehead while he was swaddled up in a blanket of his own.
"Good, actually," Gil managed to smile amidst the misery around them. "We generally use the bottled water from the machines while we're out in the field, so we got off pretty easy."
"Thank Arceus," Thena sighed, although she was looking down at her whiny little cub with misty eyes. "I just wish I could do more for them."
"I know," Gil whispered, putting a hand on her shoulder. She had called him specifically because she knew the pokemon centres would all be completely overrun. And with her very specific team, she was just as equipped to handle them here at home as any care unit.
Teddiursa pried his glassy eyes open, "Ursa."
"I know, buddy," Gil sighed, also ruffling their little bear's fur between his droopy ears. "Your tummy hurts, huh?"
The cub curled into Thena, as he did when he was a baby first getting used to the world outside Thena's house.
Gil picked up his bag and set it on the counter, "I was asking some Tropius how they were handling things, and they offered some knowledge about the berries that might help. They said that cherri and pecha berries mixed might provide some comfort."
"Cherri?--for paralysis?" Thena asked as Gil dumped out the collection of berries. "Pecha must be hard to come by too, I imagine."
"Well," Gil smiled at her gently, "a group of Quagsire from the lower caves remembered a very nice trainer who came to their aid not too long ago and shared their stash with me."
Thena sniffled.
"Okay," Gil whispered, cutting up the berries and mixing them as Thena pulled out a pot and poured in water they both knew they didn't exactly have to spare. "This should help you guys feel a little better.
"Froslass," the ghost pokemon apparated, just to see what was going on.
"I'm sorry," Thena whispered to her poor ice type, patting the spot between her little icicle-horns on her head. "We're just going to cook up a little soup. I'll chill yours for you."
"Fross," the pokemon muttered before disappearing from sight again, curling up in the freezer to try and endure her symptoms.
"I hate to think about how some of the other pokemon are doing with this," Thena frowned as Gil stirred around the soup, cutting up a few oran berries as well, just to give them back a little energy.
"This morning was rough, but when I was getting off we were just starting to get our heads above water."
Thena rocked Teddiursa against her as Gil tasted the berry mixture before adding a few vitamins for good measure. Once they were incorporated he ladled out a few bowls, handing one to Thena to put in the fridge before giving it to Froslass.
"Here we go," Gil whispered as he held up a bowl to Teddiursa's muzzle, tipping it to him gently. "I know it doesn't taste as good as Mama's pokechow, but it'll help your tummy."
"Teddi," the little bear whimpered before accepting the medicine. He knew better than to refuse it in Thena's presence.
"Good work," she whispered, kissing the fur between his ears as he drank up. She accepted the bowl from Gil smoothly as he went to her other pokemon with theirs.
"Think you can sit up, bud?" Gil asked Gallade, who groaned but pulled himself up to lean against the armrest of the couch. Gil handed him the bowl. "There's some HP Up, in there--just a little, though."
"Gallade," the pokemon uttered its thanks. No matter its opinions on Ranger Gil and his relationship to its trainer, Gallade had to admit that the human man was nothing if not reliable.
Gil patted his shoulder, leaving him to feed himself. He was sure that the viciously independent pokemon wouldn't have accepted being fed - by anyone but Thena - anyway. He moved on to Ninetales, "c'mere, sweetie."
"Nine," she whined, barely emerging from her little knot of tails to peek at him.
"I know, girl," Gil assuaged the poor fire type. "You're not made for this. But I've got something that'll help, okay?"
Thena watched as Gil held the bowl just off the ground, tilted so Ninetales could eat from it without having to stand. He really got off an exhausting shift of taking care of everyone else's pokemon just to come here and hand feed hers.
"Teddi?"
"Is that a little better?" Thena whispered down to her poor little baby bear. He snuggled back into his blanket cocoon and turned his head in against her shoulder.
She would take that as a reluctant 'yes'.
She opened the fridge, testing the temperature of the sweet and sour soup before holding it up. "It's nice and cool, just how you like it."
"Froslass," the ghost appeared, accepting it with a miserable nod of thanks before digging in.
That was the sign that things really were bad. Froslass never let anyone watch it eat--it wasn't in its nature to allow such a vulnerability, even in its own home.
Gil looked up as Thena took a seat on the floor next to him, leaning against his shoulder as he let Ninetales finish her serving. He set the bowl down, petting their fox pokemon on the snout before nudging Thena lightly. "Hey."
"Hey," she whispered back, looking intently at Teddiursa's restless sleeping face. But he was sleeping, and she was grateful.
Gil nudged her again, asking her to look at him. She was exhausted, obviously having been awake since she caught the first signs in her poor team. Her eyes were bloodshot and misty, her skin was pale, he could tell she had cried a little here or there. He pressed his forehead to hers. "How are you doing?"
"I hate seeing them like this," she whispered, inhaling gently as she let Gil's warmth seep into her. "Battling is one thing. Injuries, status conditions--I know how to handle those. But this-"
"I know," he comforted, moving to press his lips to her forehead. She moved closer, tucking her head under his against his shoulder. "How are you feeling? Did you drink anything from the tap this morning?"
"Barely," she sighed. "I saw on the news that humans are less likely to be affected based on volume per mass. I wish I could take it on for them."
Gil nodded, smiling at Ninetales, whose tails perked up to wag just a little. Thena was a good trainer, and they could ask for no one more caring and loyal to have by their sides.
"Gallade."
Thena puffed out a little breath as she felt Gallade drape a blanket over her shoulders from behind her. "Don't you dare get up off that couch, mister."
"Gal," he sighed, already lying back down and pulling the blanket off the back of the couch for himself again.
"Y'know," Gil yawned, "maybe we should try out some sleep powder on 'em. Could help them sleep off some of the symptoms."
"That's a-" Thena paused, the contagious nature of Gil's yawn catching her in her own, "good idea."
"I'll ask Dragonite," Gil mumbled, turning over his watch gear to send a message to his partner, who had offered to work a double to help out with the situation (and free up Gil to help Thena).
"Altaria," Thena mumbled, bringing up her beloved pokemon who was officially retired from battling and released into the wild. It stopped in regularly between migration seasons, though. "It might still know Sing."
Gil nodded, feeling Thena's fatigue seeping into him. "You should get some sleep."
"Speak for yourself," Thena mumbled right back, already slipping further and further into sleep.
Teddiursa snuggled against her as she laid down. She instinctively pulled him closer to her, as she did when he slept in her bed for the first few months of his life with her.
Ninetales and Gallade, with their combined psychic abilities, expended what energy they had to lie Gil and Thena down to rest. Thena sighed into the softness of Ninetales' fur, as she often did when they were camping in Victory Road. The fire type kindly let Gil also rest his head against her plush tails as well, since his arms were wrapped around Thena (and Teddi).
Gallade mustered enough effort to spread Thena's blanket out over the ranger as well. It would demand a thank you from him later, it determined before lying down again. "Lade."
"Tales," Ninetales yawned in agreement, also settling down to rest again.
Froslass floated over with the extra blanket Gil had brought in his pack, spreading it out over them before closing the freezer and going to settle itself in the cool of the bathtub.
The three - fully grown - pokemon could at least agree that maybe, just this once, they really did owe their trainer's mate.

I don’t know wich AU it would fit so I just make a prompt and you decide :)
Thenamesh decides to go to the beach for a day. They both get quite the attention but Thena is the one who is a bit possessive and tiny bit jealous (she would never admit) when 4 woman decide to flirt with him and get too close to him :D would be funny
All she wanted was to take a brief little trip to the Paldea region to find a Ceruledge (or a Charcadet, rather). It was a pokemon with swords for hands--it was like it was destined to be on her team!
But the trip to Paldea was coming at a heavy cost, Thena was discovering.
"Wow, so you're a pokemon ranger?"
"We don't have those here!"
"So, what is it that you do?"
Thena tugged at the wide brim of her sunhat, which was currently shielding both her and Teddiursa from the unforgiving - oddly strong for the winter - sun. She was sitting on her beach towel, laid out next to Gil's.
Gil had excitedly gone exploring on the beach, observing all the different pokemon they had yet to encounter back home. Between the species dimorphism and the ecological differences and the generally pleasant weather, he was in bliss.
"You're so strong, Mister Ranger," a swimmer giggled in a faintly accented voice, her shoulders bouncing as she did. It really served to emphasize the expensive looking pink bikini she had on. "Is it a very demanding job?"
"I guess the hours are kinda long," Gil shrugged (not picking up on the woman's blatant flirting). He was in the middle of making some notes for his own observation and research. The four women flocked around him were simply present.
Thena knew this--she knew that in Gil's mind they were just strangers sharing the beach space with them. But from her vantage, it was definitely four female trainers, all very obviously hitting on Gilgamesh.
Her Gilgamesh.
"Teddiursa?" the little cub turned in Thena's arms and looked up at her curiously. He had squirmed all through Thena applying sunblock to the inside of his ears and paw pads, but then she had gone mysteriously quiet instead of playing with him.
Thena continued to watch the interaction like a Braviary, "we'll play in just a minute, sweetheart."
Teddiursa pouted at the denial to his request.
"There are swimming competitions, Mister Ranger," another of the women, this one with long, dark hair and a black one-piece on tilted her head at him. "For people and pokemon--surely you could win."
Gil just blinked at them, "oh, I don't have any pokemon with me like that. Rangers don't actually keep pokemon. We have kind of an open door policy with them, I guess."
"Ah!" the shortest of the women gasped with a hand held up to her bright red lips, "no pokemon! Mister Ranger, what if you find yourself in trouble?"
"I'm sure he'd be fine," the fourth and tallest one cooed, even leaning against Gil's arm - visibly against his will - as she said it, "look at these muscles."
"Teddi," Thena muttered, somewhat spooking the cub in her arms. "Why don't you go over there and tell Papa that it's playtime."
Teddiursa obeyed, happy to have the time to play, no matter how oddly his Mama had asked him to do so. He ran on all fours, letting his puff ball tail wiggle around as he trotted over the slippery sands.
"Ursa!"
"Papa?" all four women turned and startled back a few paces at the strange pokemon. Obviously he was young, but he was still a pokemon they had never seen before.
"Hey, buddy!" Gil greeted the cub with a beaming smile, picking him up and holding him on his shoulder. "You ready for some fun?"
"Teddi!" the bear laughed, happily holding onto Gil's head as he stood. "Ted?"
"Yeah, I'm all done my research, we can go and play," Gil patted the little pokemon's head.
"I thought you said you didn't have any pokemon with you."
"Well," Gil shrugged the shoulder without precious cargo on it, "he's not just mine, is the thing."
"Well, who-"
"There you are!"
All four women backed up another few paces as Thena walked over, having left her hat and unbraided her hair. It picked up in the ocean breeze, rustling around her shoulders. "I see."
"Were you good about getting your sunscreen put on?" Gil asked Teddi, who nodded so hard his ears flapped a little.
"He was a little squirmy," Thena corrected, tapping their little bear on the nose, "but yes, he was very good."
"Hasta luego, Mister Ranger," the swimming trainers waved to him as they dragged themselves away from the family unit. "Your Maushold is very lovely."
"Maushold," Gil mumbled, trying to recall what pokemon that was. He would have to look it up in the Paldean pokemon guidebook later.
"Did you discover all the scientific things you were hoping for?" Thena asked with clear humour in her voice.
"As a matter of fact, I did," Gil grinned, waving around his little notebook before zipping it and his pen into the waterproof compartment of his rented swim trunks. "I can't wait to tell Dragonite all about it."
Dragonite had flown them, but declined the beach day in favour of touring the food offerings of Porto Marinada. He had found that being a free walking pokemon didn't deter businesses from serving him so long as he had cash. He had already consumed an ice cream stand out of its entire stock for the weekend.
Thena tilted her head at the green trunks, which Gil had chosen specifically for the waterproof pocket. "Are you going to take more notes if you go swimming and find some cave?"
"Hey, what's this 'you' business?" he grinned, braiding her hair back again for her, "you're coming with us."
"No, I--Gil?"
"Ey, Hot Stuff!" two passing men whistled and shouted to them, waving at Thena. "Care to join us? We could be great Flamigos, no?"
"She's not interested!" Gil barked at them, pulling Thena flush against him with her chest pressed into his, hiding as much of her - and her rented white bikini - as possible.
"Teddi!" Teddiursa added, mostly to mimic Gil and not necessarily in any understanding of what was going on.
Thena blinked, her hands pressed to Gil's chest as he held her, even wrapping his other arm around her waist while his hand grasped her bare shoulder. She had never seen him like this.
Maybe the beach wasn't such a bad idea.

Hiii loved your Pokémon Thenamesh AU! Would you do a second part with the teddiursa fic? Would love to read will happen the next day :D
"Audino?"
"Just a checkup," Thena answered the Hearing pokemon, holding Teddiursa on the counter of the check in desk. She leaned forward to whisper, pressing his ears down against his head, "he might need a shot or two."
"Aud," she nodded, knowing why Thena had exercised the secrecy she did. "Audino?"
"He doesn't have a pokeball," Thena sighed, ruffling Teddiursa's fur to distract him from why she had pressed his ears closed. "Gil rescued him just yesterday morning."
The nurse pokemon nodded and held her hand(?) out for Thena to allow Teddiursa to be taken to the examination room, behind the swinging doors of the pokemon centre portion of the ranger headquarters.
"Teddi?"
"It's okay," she smiled down at the little bundle in her arms. She set him down on the cart about to be wheeled away. "Audino and Blissey will take wonderful care of you. It'll be over before you know it."
"Teddi?" he asked again, those massive eyes watering.
"It's okay," she repeated, letting her hand drift out of his paw as they started taking him out of the lobby. "I'll be right here waiting."
"Teddiursa!"
Thena tried to stand at the edge of the counter. They couldn't let trainers into the pokemon centre with their pokemon--everyone would do it if that were possible. And he would have to get used to check ups and examinations without her anyway. It was just a routine exam to make sure he was perfectly healthy.
"Teddi!"
Thena wrapped her arms around herself, desperately trying to shut out the little voice shouting 'Mama!' for her again and again. She heard the swinging doors open and rounded the corner, "wait!"
"Audino?" the pink pokemon leaned back to look at her.
"I-I'm sorry," Thena stuttered. She had never done anything like this before. She shuffled forward nervously, "I know the rules--I-I do. But...he's just a baby."
"Teddiursa!" the little cub wailed, holding his paws to his eyes.
"Perhaps I could just," Thena turned back to Audino, tears threatening to spring into her eyes as well, "hold him?--while you're doing your examination?"
"Aud..."
"I know I'm asking a lot of you," Thena leaned down, closer to Audino and close enough for Teddiursa to know she was there. "But please, just let me be with him."
The pokemon looked up at Thena's pleading face and then over to a passing Chansey. "Audino?"
"Chansey!" the other pokemon smiled at them. If Teddiursa was already in tears, perhaps having Thena there would soothe him enough to be examined.
Thena put a hand on his head, looking at Audino again, "please?"
The pokemon's ears fluttered as she considered her options, but - with crossed arms - she nodded. "Audino."
"Thank you--thank you, I really do appreciate your consideration," Thena beamed at her, scooping Teddiursa off the cart and holding him against her chest. She rubbed his back as he cried into her shoulder. "I'm sorry baby, I'm right here."
"Teddi," he acknowledged, as sad and miserable as it sounded.
"Audino," she waved Thena along, without the need for the cart, which Chansey happily took away with it down another hall.
Thena followed, happy to be as co-operative as possible considering the exception they were making for her and her little cub. "I promise I won't tell anyone you let us do this."
Audino smiled at her as it let her into the examination room, "Aud-Audino."
Thena let out a faint laugh as she sat on the examination table with Teddiursa on her lap. Gil really was everyone's favourite ranger, "mine too."
Audino held out her hands(?) for Teddiursa's. He looked up at Thena first, who nodded. "She's going to make sure you're all healthy."
"Teddiur," he mumbled up at her.
"I didn't make you eat that medicine for nothing," she smiled down at the little bear, tapping his nose.
"Audino?" Thena held Teddiursa up under his arms, letting the Hearing pokemon listen with its extraordinary ears. It tapped the screen attached to the bench, indicating Teddiursa's heart rate and blood pressure. "Aud!"
Thena smiled at the good news. She let the little cub pokemon curl up against her stomach again, "see? That wasn't so scary, was it?"
"Teddiursa."
Thena sighed; he had heard her say the word 'shot'. Not that he knew what it was, and she wasn't looking forward to explaining it to him. "Well, sweetie, it's this little...needle. And it hurts just a teeny-tiny bit."
"Teddi?!"
Thena nodded with the utmost reluctance, "yes, like a Beedrill sting--just a little."
Teddiursa took one look at her, taking in a deep breath to fill his tiny lungs.
"It's okay, it's okay," Thena rushed to comfort him, watching those little cheeks of his puff up with air as he prepared another round of tears. "I promise it's just for a second, and you can hold my hand the whole time."
Audino walked over, needle in hand and everything. She gestured to Teddiursa, explaining how it could squeeze Thena's hands with its paws so it could focus on that instead of the prick of the needle.
"See, honey?" Thena said softly, now feeling a little nervous herself. She held Teddiursa tighter against her, "Audino knows what she's doing. And Mama's right here."
"Ted," he grumbled, unfolding his arms only to squeeze her palm between his paws. "Ursa?"
"Here we go," Thena whispered. She watched his head turn away and his eyes squeeze shut. He squeezed her hand between his little paws with all his might, which made her feel a little better as she watched the needle poke into his scruff. "Squeeze, squeeze, squeeze."
"Audino!"
"Teddi?" he opened just one eye, peeking at the nurse and then up at Thena.
"That's it," she smiled down at him. His tears dispersed immediately, beaming up at her. Thena laughed, turning him over in her arm and tickling the fur on his tummy with her other hand, "who's my big brave bear? Is it you?"
"Teddiursa!" the little cub laughed as she tickled him.
"Audino?"
Thena barely noticed the soft knock on the door. She looked up as Audino cracked the door open faintly and then looked back at her. "What is it?"
"Aud?"
"Gil?" Thena blinked and straightened up, although her hand continued to rub under Teddiursa's chin. "He can come in."
With the patients' consent, Audino stepped aside and welcomed him in.
"Hey, you two," Gil smiled as he walked over to them. His hat was already in his hand, and Thena enjoyed the opportunity to see his hair free and uncovered. He sat down on the examination bench next to her. "How'd he do?"
"Terrified," she answered softly and honestly. She pulled Teddiursa up to her shoulder reflexively, "but we got through."
"Aw, I bet he did," Gil said encouragingly, leaning so Teddiursa could meet his eye. "Were you good for Mama?"
"Ursa!"
"Hey, buddy," Gil greeted the little bear, reaching over to liberally ruffle the fur between his ears.
Thena blinked, eyes shifting between the two of them. Gil hadn't reacted to being called 'Papa' at all. Maybe he'd even expected it. But then why did she feel so...weird? It wasn't bad, but it was certainly...different.
"Aud?"
Thena bristled, looking over at the nursing pokemon who had very obviously heard her heart double in speed within her chest (even from the second Gil entered the room, let alone the whole 'Papa' thing). Her cheeks turned a similar shade of pink to the Hearing pokemon herself. "I'm fine."
Gil tilted his head, trying to figure out what Thena and the nurse were talking about, "hm?"
"Nothing!" Thena was quick to deny, tilting her head to keep him from seeing Audino's little smirk. She loosened her arms, letting Teddiursa move to Gil's shoulder in greeting. "He's obviously glad to see you."
"Hey, it's an improvement," he chuckled, happily letting Teddiursa recount to him what a brave bear he'd been during his very scary doctor's appointment. Gil patted his head. "I'm on my break--you two eat yet?"
Thena smiled, rising to stand with him, "I think some food would be good for both of us."
Gil let her take Teddiursa back, cradling him against her with his big head and even bigger ear nestled against her shoulder and under her chin. "Shall we?"
Audino waved to them, letting Thena out with Teddiursa first. She tapped Ranger Gilgamesh on his arm, complimenting him on his lovely family.
"Oh, uh," he smiled down at her, blushing as he slipped his hat back on, "yeah. I'm a lucky guy."

Let’s do a possessiv and jealous Gil in Thenamesh Pokémon AU.
Eros flirting with her. Thenas Pokémon don’t like it because he is absolutely checking her out and invades her personal space too much. And Gil is not a fan of him, his attitude and his behavior. And maybe he takes some action when Eros pressed her against his body and touches her a bit too personally.^^ Thena and her Pokémon seeing him truly angry for the first time!
Gil kept his head down as he walked into the Great Hall. He always felt out of place when he was visiting the League Plateau. Thena said she did too, but at least she was a trainer. She was the top trainer in Victory Road, in fact. That was the entire reason she was at the Plateau today.
They were 'mingling' the various trainers in Victory Road, gym leaders, Elites, anyone high ranking enough to be an authority figure to the average travelling child.
Gil was just here to be a supportive boyfriend...not that he knew if that was what he was - they were - yet.
The date had been great, of course--revelatory! They just...hadn't had the chance for another one since. They still spent every possible moment together, but between both their work schedules, and managing pokemon, and having a young cub--it just wasn't easy to find the time to schedule for themselves.
Thus the point of surprising her here for a lunch date.
Dragonite was waiting outside on one of the benches, holding onto a picnic basket for them.
Gil blinked against the bright lights of the training stadium. He supposed he didn't really expect the League to have a ballroom or anything. But it was funny to see the mixture of League office administration in their suits mingling with the trainers in their gear.
"Ursa!"
"Buddy?" Gil blinked as a familiar voice bounded over to him and even scrambled right up the leg of his jeans and onto his shoulder. He looked his little cub in the eyes, seeing the frustration in them. "Hey, what're you doing here?--where's-"
"Teddiursa!" the little bear pointed a long claw across the room.
Gil scowled. He would recognise that head of hair and obnoxious red suit from a mile away. "Eros."
"Teddi," the pokemon sighed, laying himself over Gil's shoulder as they started the long trip over to Thena and the Rich Boy trainer. Apparently, Eros had found them almost as soon as they had arrived, and had not given up on talking to Thena since.
"And you snuck off to find me?" Gil asked the Little Cub pokemon, who nodded so hard his ears flapped. Gil ruffled his fur, "how'd you know I would be here? I'm trying to surprise Mama."
"Teddi?" The little guy had just assumed Gil was always somewhere close unless he was at work.
Gil just sighed. They could talk to him about not wandering off on his own later. He looked through the crowd. "What about Gallade and the others?"
"Ted," it replied. Trainers were allowed to let one pokemon of theirs be free roaming, and by default, it had to be him because he didn't have a pokeball to stay in.
"Okay, come on," Gil rubbed the little bear's back as he continued weaving through the crowd. The closer they got to the little corner Thena had tucked herself away in, the more he could hear voices.
"You still have Ninetales, I see," Eros commented lightly, continuing to chat and chat and chat, completely oblivious as to whether or not he was a wanted presence. "I've recently procured an Arcanine, actually. He's a beautiful specimen--perhaps they should...become acquainted."
He was trying to set up their pokemon? How desperate could this guy get?
"Eros, I assure you, she's not interested," Thena grumbled, pushing herself closer and closer to the wall in an attempt to drown him out. She looked around her, "where is that bear?"
"When did you get the little," Eros rubbed his hand. He had attempted to put his hand on her shoulder only for the sweet seeming cub to use fury swipes on him. "Fellow."
"Gil found him about six months ago," Thena said, finally smiling somewhat, at least at the topic of choice.
"Ah, yes, your ranger friend," Eros mumbled, tugging at his suit and sliding another few centimetres closer. "How is valley duty?"
Thena glared at Eros, rising to the bait of his dismissive tone. "He does a lot more than just 'valley duty', Eros. This entire Route wouldn't be able to function without him."
Eros held up his hands, as if she was the one needling him. "No one is saying otherwise, my sweet. I have every admiration for his work with wild pokemon. If they weren't in prime condition, what would we trainers do?"
Thena rolled her eyes. She would never judge another trainer's methods or choice in pokemon...mostly. "You and Gardevoir do just fine."
She had met the Rich Boy's partner pokemon once or twice. She seemed a lovely enough pokemon. But, like her trainer, she didn't seem too keen on personal space, which did not work for Gallade.
"Have you been tracking my progress, my Poffin?" Eros smirked at her, edging even closer until she had to turn to avoid the shoulder pad of his suit jacket. "I've risen a few ranks, you may have noticed. I'm this much closer to standing at your side in Victory Road."
"Hm," Thena avoided commenting on it. She was here out of obligation to her job, and getting fired for attacking another trainer wouldn't do her any favours. She already had to explain that Teddiursa wasn't a battling pokemon and didn't need to be added to her record.
Eros moved until he literally had her up against the wall, his head close to hers, his shoulders forcing her back. He unclasped his hands from behind him to steady her in place.
"Gallade!"
"Stop it," Thena glared up at her partner, who had taken the liberty of letting himself out of the luxury ball at her hip. He was just being protective, but there was a reason she hadn't let him out yet.
But Gallade held onto the hand of Eros' that was attempting to land at his trainer's hip.
Another flash of light drew even more attention, and now Gardevoir was also getting involved.
"Now, now, Gallade, old chap," Eros chuckled, at least taking his hand back and away from Thena. "I meant nothing untoward."
"Gallade."
Thena winced. He had most certainly learned that particular profanity from her. She put a hand on his arm, but her abnormally tall partner pokemon stood his ground, slightly in front of her. "It's okay, but you are going to get boxed if you cause trouble, so get back in-"
"Hey!"
Thena, Eros, Gallade and Gardevoir all turned at the loud bark. They clearly expected it to be a League official, coming over to inspect what the ruckus and the self-freeing pokemon were about. But instead, there was a massive set of shoulders - with a very cute little bear on them - walking over. "Gil?"
Gil wasted no time, though. He pushed past Eros without even looking at him, landing right at Thena's side and wrapping his arm around her back. His hand secured itself at the bend of her waist. "What's going on, here?"
Eros ran his eyes over him, tugging at his suit again. "I almost didn't recognise you without the hat."
Gil looked at Gardevoir first, with much more respect for the pokemon than her trainer. "Look, we don't want any trouble. This is all a misunderstanding."
"I'll say," Eros huffed, ignoring Gardevoir's attempts to mother him back in line. "We were having a conversation between trainers, my good man. Although I do appreciate you taking that off her hands."
Gil and Thena both bristled at their disdainful reference to their little cub. But he could speak up for himself, now, and stuck his tongue out at the nuisance of a trainer.
At least he hadn't picked up any of her profanity yet.
"Eros, I know this is hard for you to wrap your gigantic head around," Gil scoffed at him, pulling Thena closer to his chest and glaring at the other man. "But I never took you for the type to pursue someone else's girlfriend."
Both Eros and Thena looked up at him and his choice of words. But Gil didn't even blink, holding onto Thena and daring Eros to argue with him over it.
Eros sniffed, swiping a hand over his coif. "I never took you for the 'this my woman', Machoke-brained type, Ranger Gil."
"That's a stereotype," Gil pointed back in Eros' face. "The Machop line are all deeply intelligent, and the film industry's attempts to make them seem like rogue Primeapes is responsible for rampant mistreatment of-"
"Okay, okay, all right," Eros droned, rolling his eyes and shoving his hands in his pockets. He turned halfway away from them, giving Thena one last wink, "if you tire of the walking Bulbapedia, do come find me, my sweet cheri berry."
Thena shook her head at the retreating back of him, "cheri berries are spicy."
Gardevoir turned to blow a kiss at Gallade, who 'caught it', only to throw it on the ground and stomp on it.
Gil wilted against her (not usually one for confrontation), "I'm sure he doesn't know the difference."
"Teddi!"
Gil blinked as Thena's hand came up, gently - almost shyly - grasping the edge of his bomberjacket. He tilted his head to look down at her, raising his hand to hold hers, "are you okay? I know you can handle yourself, but-"
"I don't mind," she admitted quietly, peeking up at him through her sandy lashes and a curtain of blonde hair sitting loose around her shoulders. She rubbed her thumb against the ridges of his zipper as colour rose in her cheeks. "My boyfriend, are you?"
Gil also blushed, his previous bravado leaving him like a Pidgey flying the coupe. "W-W-Well, I-I just didn't want him t-"
Thena leaned up, leaving a little peck of a kiss on his cheek before returning to the warmth of his chest. "I think I rather like it."
Gil certainly had no complaints, happily holding her to his chest in a rare, quiet moment for them. He pressed a kiss to her forehead, wrapping both arms around her waist. "I brought a picnic. I thought maybe you could sneak away for a little lunch date."
Thena sighed against him, practically purring, "that sounds wonderful."
Gallade took the liberty of letting himself back into his pokeball.
"Shall we?" Gil chuckled, giving Thena's shoulder a squeeze and making their way back to the entrance. He kept his arm around her shoulders as she carried Teddiursa in her arms. "Maybe I should surprise you at work more often."
Thena snorted. "The next time I have to come to one of these insipid events you're coming with me from the beginning, end of story."
Gil tipped her chin to plant a kiss on her cheek, "I have no complaints about that."

Alright your Pokémon au is just amazing! Here is another prompt to this beautiful AU! Gillade watching Gil and Thena dancing around each other a while now and decided to take a little action by bumping Gil “accidentally“ so he kisses Thena 😂
"Thanks again for the save, today."
"Don't mention it," Thena said softly, opting for that rather than telling him that it was insane to think that she wouldn't come to his rescue if he needed her. "Did you at least get some rest this afternoon?"
"The Audino checked me over and I was cleared for duty!" he smiled, although Thena glared at him for it. He chuckled, stirring around his bowl of soup. "Really, Thena, I promise I'm fine. They're trained to treat people and pokemon there, and they all agreed I could go back to work tomorrow."
He was omitting the fact that they wanted to keep him overnight for observation. The only reason he was here for dinner was on the promise that he would come back tonight and sleep with routine check-ins by the medical staff at the ranger centre.
"Ursa?!"
Gil chuckled, patting Teddiursa on the head as Thena ladled him more soup before he could even protest. "Don't worry, buddy, I'm fine. Your brave Mama came and rescued me from a pack of wild pokemon today."
"Teddi!" Yes, the little cub knew that, because he had been left home with Ninetales since it was 'too dangerous', and 'nowhere for her baby'. "Teddiursa!"
"No," Thena reasserted, and it silenced the little bear in one blow. Although he did sit himself on the counter with his little paws crossed and his cheeks puffed out. Thena shook her head, poking one of those fuzzy little cheeks and immediately receiving a giggle as a reward. "Bewear are very dangerous pokemon. I couldn't risk you getting hurt if things didn't go well."
"Teddiursa!" it protested, gesturing to Gallade. If the fighting/psychic type was entrusted to protect Thena and Gil out in the field, then why couldn't it have come too?
Thena set Gil's bowl back in his hands before poking Teddiursa in the tummy, getting another giggle for it. "That's enough of that, sweetie-poffin. Gallade had enough to worry about out there."
Damn right he did, Gallade mused as he observed the little family around him. Thena was tickling the grumpiness out of her little cub while Ranger Gil...well, he was watching Thena. Like always.
Gil took another bite of soup. The base of it was his own recipe that he'd managed to teach Thena (through excruciating trial and error). She was terrible at making human food, but at least with his soup base recipe all she had to do was throw in edible ingredients. And this soup sure was edible.
Thena settled Teddiursa against her hip, looking at Gil to see if he was regaining the colour in his cheeks. But when she looked at him he was already looking at her, and with a funny look on his face. Thena's cheeks took on colour of their own.
Gallade rolled its eyes. One night of watching tv without witnessing its trainer's terrible attempt at a love life--was that so much to ask?
"Ninetales," the fox pokemon by the fire commented. As always, she chose to stay out of it; if Thena figured out her feelings for the Ranger then good for her. But Ninetales was happy to let it happen organically.
After all, Ninetales had known about Gil's feelings for Thena since she was a Vulpix. Gil had a similar ignorance to it all as Thena did, but certainly he knew he felt...something, for Thena. It was further than the ace trainer had gotten to figuring it out, for Arceus' sake.
"Gallade," the Blade pokemon replied, looking over its shoulder again.
"Tell me you don't have to go out there again tonight," Thena frowned at Gil, scratching behind Teddiursa's ears idly.
"Not tonight, I'm just heading back to the centre to rest," Gil shook his head, still eating the soup. "I've got afternoon duty tomorrow, though."
Thena sighed, although her eyes made it seem like she'd rather be yelling, "I would think you could take a few days off after nearly being choked to death by a wild Bewear."
Gil didn't even blink, though, just laughing into his next spoonful. "Ah, it's okay. And besides, it's pretty much just aerial sweeps."
"Just don't go flying into a flock of Altaria," Thena teased a little more lightly, bumping his hip with hers.
They could just sit at her table, like normal people. But they took all their meals in the kitchen, standing up, talking with their heads close, elbows bumping, trading soft stories and loud, belting laughs.
Gallade turned the tv off and stood; enough was enough.
"I know you'd rescue me anyway," Gil chuckled, bumping her hip right back and setting down his third empty bowl on the counter. He turned to face her properly.
"Excuse me," she laughed, letting Teddiursa hop out of her arms to take Gil's bowl to the sink for her. "Who's the Ranger here?"
"Hey, I'm a pokemon Ranger, I range pokemon," Gil corrected, making Thena laugh until her cheeks were pink.
Gallade sighed, 'bumping' into Gil's back on its way to the berry cupboard.
Gil blinked rapidly, eyes wide. He had collided with Thena, pressing her against the counter, although he'd reached out to brace himself - and her - from the fall.
Thena's eyes had squeezed shut as Gil's lips landed against hers. She had been laughing--she un-pursed her lips, relaxing them against his. It was...kind of nice.
Gil was stunned as he felt Thena melt against him, just a little. But he realised too late that his eyes were already closed. He was already kissing her back. His hand was already on her cheek to do it.
Thena sighed as they parted ways, pulling away slowly. Her eyes fluttered open and found Gil's doing the same. She stared at him, wondering if he always looked so...wonderful. "Um..."
"Uh," Gil blinked right back at her, also at a loss for words. But blood rushed to his ears, making him wish he had his hat to hide his embarrassment (or at least fidget with). "S-Sorry! I-I didn't-"
"No, it was-"
Both stared the other down, trying to figure out what the next move was. Did they deny it?--deny that it happened, deny that it was nice? Deny that they undeniably both liked it?
Gallade glared at them from the couch again; did he do all this for nothing?
"It was," Thena paused, her voice barely coming out as she took in a shaky breath, "nice."
"Oh," Gil let out numbly (dumbly). The singular word made the colour in Thena's cheeks deepen and his heart nearly threw itself through his chest to offer itself to her, "I-I liked it too!"
"Okay," Thena mumbled, clearly at a loss for words.
"Okay," Gil mumbled back, trying to think of what to say. He had no fear wandering right into a pack of Bewear, sure, but uttering a few words to his beautiful trainer friend?--apparently impossible.
"Right."
"Uh," Gil sucked in a breath. He was still standing close to her, not having moved all that far away after the kiss. He tapped his thumb against her hip, "hey."
Thena peeked up at him through long, sandy lashes.
Gil kissed her again. Thena leaned into it more naturally this time. His hand came up, brushing over her cheek and pushing her hair back a little. Their heads tilted to the side together as they pulled apart again. Gil licked his lips. "I have to go, but...can I...come see you in the morning?"
Thena licked her lips too, nodding as they eyes held together almost too strongly. She smiled, "same time as always?"
"Yeah," Gil let out a faint laugh, smiling at her like he had never seen anything like her.
He hadn't.
"Okay," Thena whispered, keeping her eyes on him as he reached around blindly for his hat, gripping it in his hand as he waved to her on his way out. She waved back, "see you then."
Gil stared at her until the door had to break their gazes for them.
Thena immediately turned around, throwing her head in her hands on the kitchen counter. She pressed a scream of sorts into the back of her hand.
Teddiursa tumbled back, startled by the sudden outburst from his usually calm Mama. He turned over, petting her hair the way she pet his fur when he needed comforting. "Teddi?"
Thena didn't look up, only pointing to where she knew her Arceus forsaken pokemon was sitting on the couch (like a menace). "You don't deserve a luxury ball!"
"Gallade," he waved off, willing to accept any frustrations of hers if it meant not having to watch them dance around anymore.
