Richard J. Hoffman (1912-1989) was a long-standing letterpress printer and collector of type in the Los Angeles area from 1925 until his death in 1989. One of his final projects was this publication, When a Printer Plays, printed in 1987 at his shop in Van Nuys, California in an edition of 200 copies. The book is an historical presentation of fleurons and printers' ornaments with over 200 designs of his own invention made from individual pieces of foundry and monotype units that he collected over more than 50 years. California rare book dealer John Howell called When a Printer Plays Hoffman's magnum opus, noting that "Hoffman lavished the utmost care upon every detail of typesetting, arrangement, margins, proportions, multi-colored patterns, and illustrations."
Hoffman begins with Garamond and Granjon ornaments first designed in the 16th century and moves toward more contemporary ornaments by designers such as Bruce Rogers, Will Bradley, Thomas Maitland Cleland, David Bethel (Glint Ornaments), and Rudolph Ruzicka (Fairfield Ornaments). All the letterpress printers we know delight in creating borders and designs from typographic ornaments, and Hoffman quotes Bruce Rogers:
When my own time comes to be marooned on a desert island . . . instead of taking along the favorite volumes that most amateur castaways vote for, I think I shall arrange to be shipwrecked in company with a Monotype caster and a select assortment of ornamental matrices. The fascination and amusement . . . that can be got out of the almost numberless combinations of a few simple units would enable me to cast away for an indefinite period with great contentment.
Linotype Electra was used for the text in this book, with Deepdene for display. Our copy of When a Printer Plays is yet another donation from the estate of Dennis Bayuzick.

Postage Stamps by AIGA Medalists / Available at draw-down.myshopify.com / Since 1920 the American Institute of Graphic Arts has been awarding its AIGA Medals “to individuals who have set standards of excellence over a lifetime of work or have made individual contributions to innovation within the practice of design.” To date, 155 designers have been awarded Medals; only a handful have designed government-issued postage stamps. This is their story. Postage Stamps by AIGA Medalists contains seventy-six full-color illustrations, reproducing every known stamp designed by an AIGA Medalist (with the exception of Bradbury Thompson for whom only a handful of his 100+ stamps are shown). Also shown are related items by Bruce Rogers, Jan Tschichold, and Saul Steinberg. A brief essay by Michael Russem explains why these stamps are relevant to graphic designers and how they fit into the history of (mostly) American postage stamp design in the twentieth century. The stampe designers include #JosefAlbers Leonard Baski, #SaulBass Herbert Bayer, Lester Beall, Lucian Bernhard, Ivan Chermayeff, #SeymourChwast Thomas M. Cleland, Charles Coiner, Paul Davis, W.A. OHL Season Preview: London Knights look to reign again
In our first of three major junior previews, we look at the Ontario League, where NHL graduations will add some mystery to the opening weeks, but the cream will still rise to the top
The 2018-19 CHL season is upon us, so once again it is time for previews. As always, I have surveyed a number of journalists who cover each of the three leagues in order to get a sense of who the contenders and pretenders will be this season. Consider the following to be power rankings: divisional formats or seedings are not factored in, so if one division happened to have the best two franchises in the league, they would be ranked first and second.
I have also included a couple of NHL prospects to keep an eye on for each team. Given that NHL training camps have just begun, there will be some wild cards, but I’ve done my best to list kids most likely to return.
The first league up is the OHL, which officially kicks off Wednesday. There are certainly some stars whose NHL aspirations will affect the standings, but look for a familiar name at the top either way:
1. London Knights: Speedster Liam Foudy (CBJ) will continue his ascent while offensive defenseman Adam Boqvist (CHI) comes over from Sweden. Evan Bouchard (EDM) will be back unless the Oilers need him.
2. Oshawa Generals: Lots of talent here, even if Jack Studnicka (BOS) sticks with the Bruins. Serron Noel (FLA) has monster size, while Allan McShane (MTL) can break down a defense with his smarts.
3. Niagara IceDogs: Akil Thomas (LA) and Kirill Maksimov (EDM) were a thrilling offensive pair last season and will be even tougher to stop now. Ivan Lodnia (MIN) brings versatility from Erie.
4. Owen Sound Attack: Nick Suzuki (MTL) is a potential league scoring champ, while diminutive Aidan Dudas (LA) can rack up the goals, too.
5. Guelph Storm: This will be a sizzling year for mobile D-man Ryan Merkley (SJ) if he keeps his emotions in check, while Isaac Ratcliffe (PHI) will be a tower of power up front again.
6. Saginaw Spirit: There are high expectations for the Spirit, with big D-man Bode Wilde (NYI) and goalie Ivan Prosvetov (ARI) joining center Blade Jenkins (NYI) and a nice complementary cast.
7. Ottawa 67s: Towering Kevin Bahl (ARI) anchors a pretty solid blueline, while Kody Clark (WSH) has a chance to build his game up front with a nice cast of forwards.
8. Barrie Colts: Matej Pekar (BUF) joins a transitioning crew that includes athletic D-man Joey Keane (NYR) and potential top-10 draft pick Ryan Suzuki at center.
9. Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds: Morgan Frost (PHI) will challenge Nick Suzuki for the league scoring crown, while Barrett Hayton (ARI) will step up for those who moved on to the pros. Matthew Villalta (LA) comes back to rule the crease.
10. Windsor Spitfires: Michael DiPietro (VAN) can set a franchise record for career wins in short order, while gigantic center Curtis Douglas (DAL) will be fun to watch as his games matures.
11. Hamilton Bulldogs: The reigning champs will take a step back, especially if Robert Thomas sticks in St. Louis, but Matthew Strome (PHI) and MacKenzie Entwistle (CHI) will help the effort with their size and skill.
12. Kitchener Rangers: Big, athletic Michael Vukojevic (2019) is one to watch on the blueline, while pesky Riley Damiani (DAL) plays a tenacious two-way game up front.
13. Flint Firebirds: Ty Dellandrea (DAL) will be front and center again thanks to his smarts and skills, while mammoth Fedor Gordeev (TOR) returns to the blueline.
14. Sudbury Wolves: Getting Ukka-Pekka Luukkonen (BUF) in net was a huge coup for the Wolves, but the real headliner is No. 1 overall pick Quinton Byfield (2020).
15. Peterborough Petes: The Petes are pretty thick with NHL draft picks this year. Among the crew is Zach Gallant (DET), bringing a defensive game to the forward corps and British import Liam Kirk (ARI) making his North American debut.
16. Mississauga Steelheads: Jacob Ingham (LA) needs to bounce back in net after a really tough draft year, while Ryan McLeod (EDM) will drive the offense. But what happens if Owen Tippett (FLA) doesn’t stick with the Panthers?
17. Sarnia Sting: In the post-Jordan Kyrou era, forwards Adam Ruzicka (CGY) and Ryan McGregor (TOR) will be all the more important to the Sting attack.
18. North Bay Battalion: The Battalion will be in tough again, but big Brandon Coe (2020) and mobile D-man Pacey Schlueting (2020) have bright futures. Look for undrafted Justin Brazeau to pile up points.
19. Kingston Frontenacs: Look for Jason Robertson (DAL) to run wild in the points department while big Jacob Paquette (NSH) roams the blueline.
20. Erie Otters: Those title runs came at a price and now it’s rebuild time. Defenseman Jamie Drysdale (2020) is one chip, while Czech import Petr Cajka (2019) will help down the middle.

How to MEK the best of uveal melanoma: A systematic review on the efficacy and safety of MEK inhibitors in metastatic or unresectable uveal melanoma
Publication date: November 2018
Source: European Journal of Cancer, Volume 103
Author(s): Theresa Steeb, Anja Wessely, Thomas Ruzicka, Markus V. Heppt, Carola Berking
Abstract
Background
BRAF and MEK inhibitors have demonstrated significant survival benefits for patients with cutaneous melanoma. However, their use for uveal melanoma (UM) is less established. The aim of this systematic review was to summarise the current evidence on the efficacy and safety of MEK inhibitors in metastatic UM.
Methods
We performed a systematic literature search in MEDLINE, Embase and the Cochrane Library CENTRAL from 1946 through 17 April 2018. Abstracts of oncologic conferences, trial registers and reference lists were handsearched for relevant publications. The risk of bias was assessed with the Cochrane Risk of Bias Tool.
Results
Of 590 records identified, six studies met the eligibility criteria and were included in the qualitative synthesis. Data were available for selumetinib ± dacarbazine (n = 3), trametinib ± AKT inhibitor (n = 2) and binimetinib plus sotrastaurin (n = 1) from three open-label phase II, two open-label phase I and one placebo-controlled phase III trial. The overall response rate was available in five studies and ranged from 0 to 14% with an average of 2.5%. The median progression-free survival ranged from 3.1 weeks to 16 weeks. Data on overall survival and 1-year survival rates were not consistently reported. Severe treatment-related adverse events were observed most commonly for the combination use of selumetinib plus dacarbazine (62%) and binimetinib plus sotrastaurin (75%).
Conclusion
UM is little responsive to MEK inhibition, regardless of the inhibiting agent and combination partner. Our results do not support the use of MEK inhibitors in UM. Novel treatment options are urgently needed in this patient population.

Typography Tuesday
This week we present Studies in Type Design; Alphabets with Random Quotations by the great Czech-American wood engraver, illustrator, and type designer Rudolph Ruzicka, and published by the Friends of the Dartmouth Library in 1968. Ruzicka collaborated extensively with D. B. Updike and his Merrymount Press, and produced most of his typeface families for the Mergenthaler Linotype Company from the 1930s to the 1950s. He is especially remembered for his Fairfield type series.
In his very brief preface to this portfolio of typographic studies, Ruzicka writes, “The temptation to clothe the twenty-six leaden soldiers in a new array is irresistible. This is the only apology offered for suggesting still further additions to the seemingly infinite variety of existent typefaces. . . . it is a far cry from design to type face. But it is a pleasure to watch and hopefully march in the parade.” The “random” quotations used here are identified in this post with each individual sample sheet.

Canada dominates Denmark to lock up prime group seed at World Juniors
Brett Howden celebrates his objective that gave Canada a 2-Zero lead over Denmark. Getty Photographs
Canada can have a prime seed when the medal spherical of the World Junior Championship kicks off subsequent week in Buffalo.
The Canadians locked up the highest spot of their Group A desk on Saturday evening due to a dominant Eight-Zero victory over Denmark. With that prime spot comes favorable seeding (and a possible first-round matchup with Switzerland) when the playoff spherical kicks off on Tuesday.
The bounce-back win comes simply in the future after Canada’s gorgeous shootout loss to the USA open air at New Period Subject. Regardless of the disappointing loss, the Canadians knew they have been nonetheless within the Group A driver’s seat with a cupcake matchup in opposition to the Danes to shut out the preliminary spherical. All they wanted to do was take of enterprise on Saturday, and deal with enterprise they did.
As anticipated, it wasn’t a lot of a contest, as Canada managed many of the recreation and outshot Denmark 44-18 within the victory. Seven goal-scorers carried the load whereas Carter Hart made his second straight begin in internet, recording his first clear sheet of the event.
Canada finishes the preliminary spherical Three-Zero-1 and can get to catch their breath and relaxation up drained legs for just a few days till the playoff spherical begins. The remainder of the preliminary spherical will shut out on Sunday.
Which NHL prospects got here up large on Saturday?
Vancouver Canucks prospect Elias Pettersson had a three-point day — together with one hell of a highlight-reel objective — in opposition to Switzerland on Saturday afternoon. The 19-year-old has nice velocity, arms and creativity with the puck on his stick, which is an enormous cause he went fifth general within the 2017 draft. Petterson confirmed off that agility and elusiveness when he utterly froze a Swiss defender on a rush, then tucked the puck previous the netminder for the excellent objective.
It appears like Pettersson has had a jaw-dropping spotlight in each one in all Sweden’s prelim video games, however that is actually his finest to this point.
Boston Bruins prospect Joona Koppanen (fifth-round choice in 2016) had a strong day for Finland and earned Participant of the Sport honors following their victory over Slovakia. This was one in all his higher sequences; he did an ideal job pressuring on the forecheck to win possession, then organising in entrance of the web to get on the scorebaord.
Calgary Flames prospect Adam Ruzicka got here up large on Saturday as effectively…sadly, it was for the opposing workforce. The Slovakian heart received a draw cleanly within the third interval and by chance despatched it straight into his personal internet. That personal objective doubled Finland’s lead and was a reasonably demoralizing blow for the Slovaks.
Cale Makar of Canada had a second consecutive recreation with an influence play objective, and it got here on this good sequence in opposition to Denmark. Makar, a Colorado Avalanche prospect, confirmed nice composure through the use of a flip go to the purpose to flee strain within the nook, then acquired the following go and located the again of the web with an ideal shot. Makar’s capability to maneuver the puck, execute good performs and create offensive possibilities is an enormous cause why he went fourth general to the Avs in 2017.
4 gamers from Staff Canada acquired their first objective of the event on Saturday evening — Robert Thomas (St. Louis Blues), Michael McLeod (New Jersey Devils), Alex Formenton (Ottawa Senators) and Brett Howden (Tampa Bay Lightning). Howden had two objectives and earned Participant of the Sport honors for Canada of their victory.
What else occurred within the preliminary spherical?
Czech Republic held off Belarus for a 6-5 win
Sweden acquired 4 straight objectives within the third interval and beat Switzerland, 7-2
Finland acquired 5 objectives from 5 totally different gamers to beat Slovakia, 5-2
What occurs subsequent within the World Juniors?
Although Canada has formally locked up the highest seed in Group A, the USA nonetheless has an enormous matchup in opposition to Finland on Sunday. The winner of that recreation will safe the second-place seed in Group A’s desk. Russia and Czech Republic will likely be even be combating for seeding in Group B on Sunday. The second-place seeds will find yourself going through the opposing group’s third-place seeds.
The 2018 World Juniors preliminary spherical concludes on Dec. 31 to set the stage for relegation in January, which precedes the medal spherical playoffs. This is a whole rundown of the ultimate prelim video games on Sunday.

2018 World Juniors rosters and key players to watch
The tournament begins Tuesday in Buffalo.
If you needed a warmup to get into international hockey before the 2018 Winter Olympics, the best young players in the world will have you covered at the 2018 World Junior Championship tournament. The United States will be looking to defend its title on home ice in Buffalo after a thrilling victory in Montreal a year ago.
The World Juniors is an annual under-20 tournament featuring junior national teams full of top prospects. It’s a great chance to watch some extremely gifted players in an intense competition as they represent their countries. Even if it’s not quite star-studded like an NHL-backed Olympic tournament would be, the talent level will be high.
And for NHL fans, the tournament is always a stellar opportunity to keep up with the future of the game. Many of the players in Buffalo will go on to become NHL stars. If you want to get a leg up on your friends when discussing the 2018 draft, then following the World Juniors is a good place to start.
With that in mind, here’s a quick look at every team competing in the 2018 World Juniors, along with a key player to watch on each roster. NHL rights are included in parenthesis.
United States
Roster
Forwards: Ryan Poehling (MTL), Brady Tkachuk, Josh Norris (SJS), Casey Mittelstadt (BUF), Joey Anderson (NJD), Kailer Yamamoto (EDM), Patrick Harper (NSH), Logan Brown (OTT), Kieffer Bellows (NYI), Riley Tufte (DAL), Trent Frederic (BOS), Max Jones (ANA)
Defensemen: Ryan Lindgren (BOS), Quinn Hughes, Adam Fox (CGY), Dylan Samberg (WPG), Scott Perunovich, Andrew Peeke (CBJ), Mikey Anderson (LAK)
Goaltenders: Jake Oettinger (DAL), Joseph Woll (TOR), Jeremy Swayman (BOS)
Key player to watch: Quinn Hughes
There are a lot of must-see talents on Team USA, including Mittelstadt, Norris, and Yamamoto, but Hughes stands out because you’ve probably never seen him before. The University of Michigan star is a top prospect for the 2018 NHL Draft, and projects as a possible top-five pick. He’s undersized but makes up for it with amazing skating and puck handling. This will be the first chance for a lot of fans to see him up close, which should be exciting.
Canada
Roster
Forwards: Dillon Dube (CGY), Jonah Gadjovich (VAN), Boris Katchouk (TBL), Maxime Comtois (ANA), Taylor Raddysh (TBL), Tyler Steenbergen (ARI), Drake Batherson (OTT), Michael McLeod (NJD), Brett Howden (TBL), Sam Steel (ANA), Alex Formenton (OTT), Jordan Kyrou (STL), Robert Thomas (STL)
Defensemen: Jake Bean (CAR), Conor Timmins (COL), Cal Foote (TBL), Cale Makar (COL), Dante Fabbro (NSH), Kale Clague (LAK), Victor Mete (MTL)
Goaltenders: Carter Hart (PHI), Colton Point (DAL)
Key player to watch: Robert Thomas
Team Canada lacks the usual star power you’d expect from the world’s biggest hockey powerhouse, but it’s still a solid roster full of top prospects. Thomas, the No. 20 overall pick in the 2017 draft, stands out given his scorching start in the OHL. The versatile center has 46 points in 27 games for the London Knights after averaging a point per game last season.
Sweden
Roster
Forwards: Marcus Davidsson (BUF), Tim Soderlund (CHI), Glenn Gustafsson, Elias Pettersson (VAN), Linus Lindstrom (CGY), Fredrik Karlstrom (DAL), Alexander Nylander (BUF), Isac Lundestrom, Jesper Boqvist (NJD), Axel Jonsson Fjallby (WAS), Lias Andersson (NYR), Fabian Zetterlund (NJD), Oskar Steen (BOS)
Defensemen: Rasmus Dahlin, Erik Brannstrom (VGK), Timothy Liljegren (TOR), Linus Hogberg (PHI), Gustav Lindstrom (DET), Jesper Sellgren, Jacob Moverare (LAK)
Goaltenders: Filip Gustavsson (PIT), Filip Larsson (DET), Olle Eriksson Ek (ANA)
Key player to watch: Rasmus Dahlin
Get ready to hear his name over and over. Rasmus Dahlin. It’s a great name for a prospect so talented he’s like the Connor McDavid of defensemen. Dahlin already has a treasure trove of ridiculous highlights on YouTube and he doesn’t turn 18 until April. The consensus projected No. 1 overall pick for the 2018 NHL Draft is a special prospect, and he’ll be a leader for Sweden despite being one of the youngest players on the team. Expect this to be a fun precursor to his leading role in Pyeongchang before he makes his NHL debut next fall.
Russia
Roster
Forwards: Vitali Abramov (CBJ), Andrei Altybarmakan (CHI), Georgi Ivanov, Artur Kayumov (CHI), Klim Kostin (STL), Mikhail Maltsev (NJD), Artyom Manukyan, Alexei Polodyan, German Rubtsov (PHI), Marsel Sholokhov, Dmitri Sokolov (MIN), Andrei Svechnikov
Defensemen: Nikolai Knyzhov, Nikita Makeyev, Artyom Minulin, Dmitri Samorukov (EDM), Alexander Shepelev, Vladislav Syomin, Anatoli Yelizarov, Yegor Zaitev (NJD)
Goaltenders: Vladislav Sukhachyov, Mikhail Berdin (WPG), Alexei Melnichuk
Key player to watch: Andrei Svechnikov
There’s little doubt who will be the star player for Russia in Buffalo. Svechnikov is widely expected to be the first forward selected in the 2018 NHL Draft. The 18-year-old has 14 goals in 16 games with the OHL’s Barrie Colts this season, and could be a prime contender to lead the tournament in scoring if Russia can make a deep run. Between Dahlin, Svechnikov, and Hughes, you’ll potentially be able to see the top three draft picks for next year.
Finland
Roster
Forwards: Juha Jaaska, Janne Kuokkanen (CAR), Otto Koivula (NYI), Kristian Vesalainen (WPG), Joona Koppanen (BOS), Eetu Tuulola (CGY), Eeli Tolvanen (NSH), Markus Nurmi (OTT), Aapeli Rasanen (EDM), Joni Ikonen (MTL), Aleksi Heponiemi (FLA), Jere Innala, Rasmus Kupari
Defensemen: Miro Heiskanen (DAL), Robin Salo (NYI), Eemeli Rasanen (TOR), Juuso Valimaki (CGY), Olli Juolevi (VAN), Urho Vaakanainen (BOS), Henri Jokiharju (CHI), Kasper Kotkansalo (DET)
Goaltenders: Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen (BUF), Lassi Lehtinen, Niilo Halonen
Key player to watch: Miro Heiskanen
The Heiskanen hype train rolls into Buffalo this week. The Stars’ 2017 first-round pick is already playing a starring role in Finland’s top league at age 18 and will likely be the country’s top defenseman for the 2018 Winter Olympics in February. Heiskanen has elite-level NHL upside, and this will be his first chance to put it all on display for a North American audience.
Czech Republic
Roster
Forwards: Filip Chytil (NYR), Filip Helt (STL), Martin Kaut, Krystof Hrabik, Petr Kodytek, Daniel Kurovsky, Jakub Lauko, Albert Michnac, Martin Necas (CAR), Radovan Pavlik, Kristian Reichel, Ostap Safin (EDM), Marek Zachar, Filip Zadina
Defensemen: Vojtech Budik (BUF), Jakub Galvas (CHI), Libor Hajek (TBL), Filip Kral, Radim Salda, Ondrej Vala (DAL)
Goaltenders: Milan Kloucek, Josef Korenar (SJS), Jakub Skarek
Key player to watch: Filip Zadina
The Czech Republic boasts a pair of 2017 first-round picks in Chytil and Necas, but its best player may be Zadina, the 2018 draft-eligible prospect who projects as a potential top-five pick. He’s been adjusting to the North American game this season with 46 points in 32 games in the QMJHL, and NHL.com gives him a (likely unreasonable) comparison to Patrick Kane. This could be a breakout opportunity for the 18-year-old.
Denmark
Roster
Forwards: Jacob Schmidt-Svejstrup, Valdemar Ahlberg, Christian Mathiasen-Wejse, Jonas Rondbjerg (VGK), Lucas Andersen, Nikolaj Krag (STL), Joachim Blichfeld (SJS), Daniel Nielsen, Andreas Grundtvig, David Madsen, Magnus Molge, Phillip Schultz, Christoffer Gath
Defensemen: Oliver Larsen, Malte Setkov (DET), Christian Larsen, Jakob Jessen, Jeppe Mogensen, Rasmus Heine, Lasse Mortensen
Goaltenders: Emil Gransoe, Mads Soegaard, Kasper Krog
Key player to watch: Jonas Rondbjerg
One of just two Golden Knights prospects in the tournament, Rondbjerg will also likely be Denmark’s best player. The 2017 third-round pick is already playing a steady role with the Vaxjo Lakers in the SHL, Sweden’s top league, as an 18-year-old. He has seven points in 25 games this season.
Slovakia
Roster
Forwards: Erik Smolka, Samuel Bucek, Viliam Cacho, Filip Krivosik, Milos Kelemen, Adam Liska, Marian Studenic (NJD), Peter Kundrik, Adam Ruzicka (CGY), Samuel Solensky, Alex Tamasi, Milos Roman
Defensemen: Tomas Hedera, Martin Bodak, Martin Fehervary, Marek Korencik, David Matejovic, Michal Ivan, Vojtech Zelenak, Samuel Fereta
Goaltenders: David Hrenak, Jakub Kostelny, Roman Durny
Key player to watch: Adam Ruzicka
Part of the dying breed of big-bodied power forwards, Ruzicka might’ve gone higher than No. 109 overall in the 2017 draft if he had been playing this well a year ago. The 6’4, 203-pound winger has a team-leading 20 goals and 142 shots on goal in 34 games for the OHL’s Sarnia Sting. He’ll be leaned on heavily on the power play for a team looking to improve upon last year’s eighth-place finish.
Belarus
Roster
Forwards: Viktor Bovbel, Vladislav Ryadchenko, Alexander Lukashevich, Igor Martynov, Arseni Astashevich, Sergei Pishuk, Yegor Sharangovich, Ivan Drozdov, Vladislav Mikhalchuk, Maxim Sushko (PHI), Artyom Anisimov, Ilya Litvinov, Dmitri Grinkevich
Defensemen: Andrei Gostev, Vladislav Sokolovski, Dmitri Deryabin, Vladislav Martynyuk, Vladislav Yeryomenko, Dmitri Burovtsev, Vladislav Gabrus
Goaltenders: Dmitri Rodik, Andrei Grishenko, Vikita Tolopilo
Key player to watch: Maxim Sushko
Belarus only has one player whose rights are held by an NHL team, so it’s not difficult to pick which player to focus on. Sushko, the Flyers’ 2017 fourth-round pick, is a talented winger with 16 goals in 28 games for the OHL’s Owen Sound Attack this season. He’s not going to get much help in Buffalo, but he’s worth keeping an eye on.
Switzerland
Roster
Forwards: Nicolas Muller, Guillaume Maillard, Marco Miranda, Justin Sigrist, Ken Jager, Valentin Nussbaumer, Axel Simic, Sven Leuenberger, Nando Eggenberger, Philipp Kurashev, Andre Heim, Marco Cavalleri, Dario Rohrbach
Defensemen: Simon le Coultre, Davyd Barandun, Tobias Geisser, Nico Gross, Elia Riva, Tim Berni, Dominik Egli
Goaltenders: Matteo Ritz, Akira Schmid, Philip Wuthrich
Key player to watch: Tobias Geisser
Switzerland is a candidate for relegation by the end of this tournament, and its lack of potential NHL talent is a bit reason why. Nico Hischier is no longer around to carry this group, which finished seventh a year ago. The one guy who stands out is Geisser, a 2017 fourth-round pick by the Capitals who brings a ton of size (6’4, 201 pounds) and a big shot to the table.
