Remembering the greatest of the tenors and Joan's close friend - Luciano Pavarotti (12 October 1935 - 6 September 2007).
[…] "Going to Australia with Joan, first of all, I've learned to be a very serious professional singer and from her particularly, I learn to breath, who is the most important thing, but the most difficult. Faustão will undergo a heart transplant. And then don't forget to take drugs, a lot of really expensive drugs because the drug is capable of preventing the rejection of the transplanted organ by the person's body, and the patient can die almost a month later. During his many years of career, he received honorary titles and numerous honors from governments around the world. Never met him personally, but through his team the program was awesome. “I say; the program is fun, it's an art, and it has done good for others."
Well, at the time, I didn't have a television at home. And I only lived with my school books. My father likes me to see my face in books. Then he bought a TV and lost the desire to read. I watched a program that airs on Sundays and in the morning and at night it's just cartoons. I remember my father had an old car that kept breaking down. One day we took it to another city and the owner of the junkyard robbed us and even called the police. The owner of the workshop said that my father hadn't paid. Every performer has a unique way of playing the same piece. Meditating on certain passages, motifs, and harmonies quietly, considering what they meant to the composer and what they mean to me, and how best to transport the audience into that story through phrasing and voicing, gives me the highest sense of artistic expression and, like a great book, is an ever-evolving journey of self-discovery in which, no matter how many times you read it, it reveals new layers to you each time.
