He has his Resplendent and bridal alt, even if he wasn't the primary hero.

But honestly I probably was too harsh in my initial reaction. I'm just a little peeved since this seemed like a very narrow pool of characters in terms of like... I guess visual diversity? Sothe and Rickard are both twinky pretty-boys; It'd be fine to keep Rickard, but maybe give us Legault or Gorlois for some age diversity in Sothe's spot. And again, if we had Niles in the Duo Heroes with Nina we'd have:

A) More character interaction between the two. Niles was already shown in Fates to be kind of a deadbeat dad who never visited Nina and didn't even notice she snuck out. How extra shitty is it that he isn't even at this festival with her and Kagero had to take his place? You'd think it'd be better for his character to be joining the festival so he can feel like he's trying to make up for lost time with Nina. As much as I dislike Niles, he DOES feel remorse for the fact that he neglected Nina and never saw her.

B) An even balance to the male-female ratio even if he's technically not a unit. He's in a more mature (using that word in terms of age here, not in terms of personality) range than Sothe is, so you have a good age variety between him and Rickard.

And also I don't know why they stuck strictly to thief classes in the first place? Like the Pirate and Ninja banners included non-pirate and ninja characters as well as maybe one or two actual pirates per banner. Couldn't they do the same for this one?

It is true that Sothe really hasn't had as many alt appearances as I grouched about. And I apologize for exaggerating it. But with this appearance... I just feel very at unease. I count Resplendents and Duo appearances as alts, so I just feel they could have picked someone who hasn't even had an alt yet.
