I'm going to a local pride event that's organized by the people who host the local punk and hardcore shows i go to, and let me tell you, i prefer that WAY more than some large corporate pride, I get to be around my friends, I get to listen to local music, there's local art and queer vendors, and it's decently accessible, and if i have any accessibility issues i can ask about it. like, actually very good for a small local event, and I love my community, and i hate corporations. I actually can't wait, i'm super excited!!!
Last week, a transgender student was attacked at my former high school. As a grad of that school, I am disgusted with the schools lack of action and refusal to make a statement about the incident. All students deserve a quality education without having to fear for their physical safety. It warms my heart to see the community and student body making a noise and taking action when the institutions that should keep their children safe will not.
Queer students: you’re more loved than you know. Stay strong. Keep fighting.
