I don’t care if you hate on it or think I’m a big girl for being so in love with this! (Like my wife does Lol) THE LAST UNICORN has been one of my all time favorite movies since it came out in 1982, I have loved the soundtrack just as much as the movie it has taken me 40 years to finally own a physical copy of the soundtrack. I’ve only ever seen the version from Holland available. Featuring Jeff Bridges, Mia Farrow, Angela Lansbury, Alan Arkin, & Christopher Lee. Fun fact the movie/cd, the actual Compact disc format was brought into existence the same year 1982. So this disc is literally a first generation compact disc, and it sounds magnificent 40 years later! I’m so excited to finally own it…I’ve looked for years and haven’t found it yet on any music streaming service, this is a Grail for my collection! Album Number Nineteen “America” is their eponymous debut studio album, released in 1971. It was initially released without "A Horse with No Name", which was released as a single in late 1971. When #ahorsewithnoname " became a worldwide hit in early 1972, the album was re-released with that track. My copy is a #warnerbrosrecords rerelease of that 1972 issue - BS 2576. The album went to No. 1 on the Billboard album chart in the United States and stayed there for five weeks. It produced two hit singles; "A Horse with No Name" spent three weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard singles chart in 1972 (it peaked at No. 3 on the Adult Contemporary chart), and "I Need You" hit No. 9 on the Billboard singles chart and No. 7 on the AC chart. It's the end of a rainy few days here in Oregon and time for a #VinylAndBeerSunday. Tonight, I was in the mood for something a bit mellow - so I dug up a classic disc from AMERICA. Their 1971 debut was one of those albums that seemed to come out of nowhere when he landed on the airwaves. The major hit HORSE WITH NO NAME is remembered - but the rest of this album is an acoustic guitar delight with RIVERSIDE, THREE ROSES, and I NEED YOU. But my favorite is SANDMAN. I remember a number of years ago, we caught the band playing at the OHIO STATE FAIR - and I yelled out for SANDMAN. One of the guitarists looked my way, smiled, and said "We will get to that one!"..And they did! It was awesome. And speaking of awesome... I am pairing this forgotten classic with a new beer (to me). The C-NOTE INDIA PALE ALE from LOMPOC BREWING COMPANY is a delight with a rich malt background - and balanced with hops. The brew finished in an extraordinary smooth way.
